Okay, I have to say something because the scavenging is starting to drive me a bit nuts. :) You can queue up buildings to scavenge for food. Each scavenging team in a car can go through 10s of buildings in a day. You'll have plenty of food. But, because you do them one at a time, they only get to do a couple each day because they do nothing while you manage other things. By queueing up buildings to scavenge, that problem goes away. Also, a quick unrelated note: make sure that the person with the assault rifle isn't the driver since the driver doesn't seem to shoot. There's a steering wheel icon that indicates the driver, I think. Other than the anemic scavenging, I'm loving the series. No need to edit anything, as far as I'm concerned. I like long videos. :)
I think you could skip the uneventful nights, perhaps also the uneventful days if there are any. Keep up the good content, love this and the medival series.
Charlie little detail you might have missed you can place squads inside your buildings to defend them. Not just HQ :) its good to have few team in night spread around the base inside buildings :)
22:43 and this is why you scavange the buildings everyday with at least one squad. :) It discounts build up of potential high intense moments like this. I get the self efficiency thing but one does not minus another in this instance. You can do both at the same time. Especially if you shift left click on the scav squad. I have watched a lot (granted not "played") of these playthroughs and it is very minimal chance you run into an infected horde in little buildings. And even if you did you can react to it quickly by pausing and dealing with it.
I'm enjoying the series, my preference is not to edit too much, as I find jumping forward frustrating. So far so good. The risk for me if done too much is it can be like watching a film, controlled by a child with zero attention span. But then I'm playing along in my head. I like to hear about the town you grew up in, for me it makes it all more real.
you can set multiple buildings to be scavenged and if you click and hold on a building while in the menu to make it into something, you can partially use the building. so you can have multiple uses for one building
It's one of those "yeah, sure, we can do it that way" things that make very little material difference on the game. Can do it, or not do it. I'll start doing it now, and you'll see how it changes basically nothing about your video experience.
@@CharliePryor I was just curious thought you might do it specificly because it's content for your video since at the beginning of the game their is not much to manage at HQ so forcing more attention into squad management gives you something to talk about.
@@chrisshergie1030 depends what buildings but little ones, sure you can go through a whole block in a day. There is no "right" way to neccessairly to play this game. In one of the early episode, theres a transmission taht said, the infected has chased youre squad out of the house in daylight, and the hordes notice this and goes inside the building, this indicates that theyve somehow mutated to be able to roam without being burned by sunlight, just an idea tho

Hi Char, thanks for making these videos! Also really enjoying the commentary of you actually knowing the area! I think it makes sense to cut the nights where there’s no attacks etc. Finally I may have missed the explanation but wondering why the towers are so far set back from the wall? I haven’t seen the infected be able to attack at range so wouldn’t you want the most coverage beyond the wall with the tower as possible?
I love this series so far but I feel like I have a few issues with how you're playing 1. You can put squads in buildings and they can use them as a firing port, so instead of destroying buildings for a better sight line you can just make squads and put them in the nearby buildings so that they keep the base safe without jeopardizing their safety. 2. You can use multiple squads to search faster although I am a bit of a hypocrite cuz during the prologue I never used this strat even though I knew it worked 3. Towers are good, place them in place of some walls and I believe you can make integrated watchtowers with the walls so that they can protect the wall while still blocking out infected
1) Hordes can invade every building except HQ without destroying it. If I put squads in another building, they’ll be immediately in the building with them when they arrive. Not the HQ - they also cannot run out of ammo when in HQ. Not true for every other structure. 2) Duh. 3) Obviously. In due time.
You should always keep one strong squad scavenging. They gain experience faster if you are not disbanding them. Also chain scavenging buildings is more productive and relatively safe. And its a good source of food.
They gain experience at the same rate for every action they take. When disbanded, they retain their experience completely. A new squad is formed, comprised of new people, ready to also gain experience. Having many people with experience is helpful long term anyways. It’s not a big deal.
@@chrisshergie1030 they also gain exp by working. But yes, I am also puzzeled by disbanding them but again, that isn't my style of gaming. I tend to, in all games, create and never then destory/change, which in one case is good but in other cases can be bad as I don't adapt and change quick enough. My worry is by constantly disbanding you lose track of your motive of "why". And also, don't think a squad can be as good (if not better) than labour for a day. A squad could scavenge 20 units of food in a day when a cookhouse can only do 2 rounds of 5 or 4 (so 10 or 8 units), so theoretically, a squad of 4 armed squad does nummerically more than 4 workers do. Obviously there are risks involved with the scavenging and less versatility as workers can gather and make different resources whilst squads can only scav or attack/defend.

You started doing it at the end of the video as I think the "I am going starve" day enacted that (which is good). I like the current format, this game is pretty cool to watch the development. As you produce lots os videos per day, less editing is problably better for you if the audience is up to it right
There are definitely some kinks the devs need to iron out. Like collision check. Map marking and map zoning but all and all it seems to be enough there to buy the game in EA, me thinks.
It seems to be okay for me watching Whatever you want to do will be fine. I wish though the game gave you…a buff or penalty to squads.
