Guys I made the smallest of them all, it's so good the devs added it into the game ! You just launch any mission, and jump into the water by yourself ! The way it works is I stripped away all the unnecessary parts such as a crew, or even a submarine !
I would play like that if the levels were half the size and I could actually "dock" with the outpost. Just an entire crew of Security officers, sharing supplies, going along in dive scooters and using handweapons to fight off swarms of mudraptors.
It all depends on the parameters you set in the sub editor. The only advantage small actually gives you is that you don't need to move as far to get to different parts of the sub. You could have a large sub move even faster with a shuttle engine because the creator decided to give it 500 times the engine power. Likewise the turret fire rate is so high only because the creator set it to be much faster than usual. Barotrauma basically gives you the tools to do whatever you want. You could make an entirely overpowered sub if you want, or you could make a balanced sub with intentional shortcomings. You can even make a setup where the doctor can shoot everyone with medicine using the turrets.
Well, ignoring the fact that whoever made this sub made the coilgun fire several times faster that it should be able to (on top of making it fire flak cannon ammunition, _for good measure),_ the fact that it's so small means that you can very easily avoid most if not all danger that you can't just kill outright. Plus, there's not a whole lot of hull to damage. Remember, the most common cause of death for submarine crews is damage done to the sub adding up to the point that fixing it in time becomes impossible. When you're locked into a person-sized coffin, the hull can be repaired in seconds, since you can easily see where the damage is.
It's literally just because in the sub-editor, you can soup up submarines practically however you want; most creators just make subs balanced because they're the most fun and get the most usage.
