it took me way too long to realize each "day" is considered a month, and the number before the name of the "day" isn't the day of the month its the running total of months/cycles or whatever, so every 12 "day/cycles" is an in-game year
Swarms at night or during cloudy days have a ratio of something like 1:1.5 or 1:2 for population to swarm size. Additionally, increasing the difficulty for swarm size at map creation will simply add a multiplicative factor to the ratio. Your population size is only 65 (at 08:21 timecode) and thus the swarms you face will be relatively small still. You're on day 33 while I am on day 34, I've been trying to mirror my playthrough with your playlist by pausing your video to keep the days close. I just got through a brutal, barely survivable night that saw near endless swarms coming at me. The big difference in our two playthroughs is that my population is currently 208. Using the exact same map creation settings as you, I am struggling to fend off the swarms. I hope this helps.

For scavenging the buildings, I think it's half and half. I definitely scavenge that building faster and free up the squads. However, one risk I ran into when doing that is having the squads captured, or trapped by infected. If most of my squads were in there, it'd be iffy to rescue them.

You should do an inner wall for extra protection that aren’t fortified, maybe wood or a basic wall? Inner and outer defense… could zone it out inside the walls so if they break into one zone within the fortified wall then they can’t get around freely inside your entire base.
Could even do a maze lined with barb wire. If it's not a true wall they might just keep walking thru all the barb wire until they die.
This game is clearly based on a certain flash game that does the same thing, but is massively expanded on in concept.

When it comes to enemies, those I run up against with ranged weapons always seem to be hostile, however those with melee weapons, always seem to be a good group that I can accept in. I too opened with treat them as hostile. I find alot of neutral groups however. I like it this way cause I get alot of my good weapons from those hostile groups ;)

Dude. I wish I could get your luck with the limited attacks at night. I get waves of them every single night right around 5 am. The last one was stupid large as there was at least 11 hoards. It just didn't seem like they were stopping. I was just thankful I had 5 squads back at home(because of the attacks every night) and all squads have at least 1 auto rifle. However now I got to spend a couple of days to repair everything as too many buildings are getting dangerously low.

16:43 they do attack farm so don't leave them out of your protection, try to establish the new headquarter, shelter and warehouse there.
I’ve never had infected or raider attack my farms, and they are mostly outside my walls.
@@daviddonaghy4723 that means they priority attacked your defending structure and operator first.
umm, the multiple squad scavenging one building could be handy if you know the target building will hold a lot of resources, like getting a lot of research materials or weapons/ammo picked up quickly. Very situational.
Love the plan ,on having bigger safe zone, love the effects to, like at sun down you can see buildings in more orange and go darker as the time gose on. and seem your camera going rogue on you got fix to. i hope this DEV. not send you a gift, it might be a real INFECTED! Love your vids, ::))
remember if shooting out a vehicle will yield a -30% hit reduction and also the driver doesnt get to shoot.

The infected in previous versions of the game destroy farmland. So look out when placing farms outside of the walls
Why are they finding so little (remembers setting up as very low resources) -- oh yeah, that :D
So here’s my perspective. (I got to have a town of 250 survivors) It’s fine to have your squads on top of each other BUT one of the biggest problems is it limits your reconnaissance. Reconnaissance allows you to find more survivors, raiders and cars. If you want to play it safe put your squads on top of each other but you’ll get snaked later in the game for it

In my game, theyve updated and added new vehicles, the trucks now get more storage spaces (40 storage) so i send like 3 trucks out on expedition
Also, i played in michigan too!!! So i love watching this!
This game needs a repair botton as well. so you put some people there to repair every damaged wal or building istead of finding the damaged wall manualy

hi, I've been watching you play this for a little while and I had a thought, i know you use gates to create a tower in the wall but have you tried Just creating a tower and linking snapping a wall to it? if it works it could save you some resources.
The problem with the one person builder is they travel to get resources from warehouse, so the farther they walk the less work they do. (Also with wood gathering, I try to make smaller batches near warehouse for same travel reasons.)
I haven't played the game myself yet but from what I have noticed till now, it seems you can only have one group of people coming to your HQ and have to wait until they reach it before inviting another group
So the food economy is such that its better to grow grain which feeds the chickens, which then feed the people. It might be tempting to have two cookhouses for both meat and grain based meals, but considering winter, its smarter to have one cookhouse using meat, fed with the grain saved up through the season.
I think the zombie slIder affects size of packs rather the number (thus meaning lure and building hop tactics mean you are only spending extra ammo, which you are faring well on anyway). edit: as you are running out of wood you probably need more scavengers and/or focusing one maybe two buildings (better to finish one instead of havIng the same resources spread across multiple incomplete sites)
I've been getting hit with multiple infected by multiple hords per NIGHT! Hope they are able to balance it better since I am playing on medium.

On my saved i build a warehouse on each corner of my base so you can re supply ammo for squad and much easier to send works on each sides. Even refueling my vehicles and healing someone.

There is no set combo/formula in this game. Every playthrough is different, because it’s entirely about worker counts in each. If you produce chickens faster in larger buildings with more workers, then more farms are needed. If you are using smaller buildings, less farms needed. Same with cookhouses. More workers = faster production.
If they're neutral there chance of them being friendly. The first group you treated as hostile was neutral and yellow, not red.
wow, when the seasons change they don't mess around, summer to winter right now. As far as stacking scavenging groups, do you think it would be worth stacking them for expeditions due to the amount of materials you can get from a fully scouted expedition?
Why don't you have your tankers to follow in a convoy on your expeditions?
btw i found out you can make more than one HQ which increases the amount of squads you can use and 2nd HQ doesnt have the same limits in size as first !!

yes , thats what i meen before, some are gun up! and others not have guns... maybe the tower click would change red to yellow, and if they not gun up, can they hurt you with no guns? test play fun.

They really ought to add wood to the hardware store loot tables. Have it be findable rarely in houses too (DIY home renovators).

Do the fortified towers have more hp than the regular walls? If so, it might be worth it to just integrate them into the wall itself for better sight lines and reduced resource costs?
Infected focus attacks on things shooting at them. So they would just ignore the wall and attack the tower. With the wall you can shoot behind it

Yup, you can send your squad on an expedition.
Also you can't free-roam that area and it has a limited loot

I don’t understand, you are playing on Hard but your base rarely gets attacked by hordes. I’m playing at Easy and since about turn 40 I’m being attacked by up to 30 hordes, not every night, but at least every 3rd or 4th night. I’ve had to build 20 fortified gates around by base with double fortified walls and I use gas trucks as battering-rams just to survive the horde nights. What gives?🤷♂️
