For those that can't remove the main jet due to the 1 way screw head get you a 1/8" flat head screwdriver place it on the jet then whack it a few times with a hammer and the driver will be forced into the jet since it's soft brass then just unscrew it and the jet IS still useable
Hey Paul. Really helpful video. I was exactly what I needed to know. I had a plugged jet screw which I assumed was the culprit. I followed the steps to the letter and it started on the first pull after putting everything back together with the choke closed. It was very rough on idle and would not rev any higher. I played with the choke while it was running and it seemed to fix the problem and I was able to ride my mini bike for the first ( new build from scratch) around the yard. I did notice that the air filter assembly had a crack in it (approximately where the stickers are on the front). Could that be the problem with it still running rough with the choke off? All my linkages and springs are ll in place and functioning properly. What am I missing?
I have two that I just bought new but were manufactured in 2018. On one it backfired when turning off and the top little black plastic, I assume air inlet, thing on top with a 44 printed on it popped out onto the floor. It looked like it might have been glued in where this carb in the video has a black perpendicular screw holding it in. However on my other one with the part still attached there is no black plastic screw. Not sure what to do.
I believe that's the EPA "California" carb. You can get a $15.00 replacement carb that has the removable jet and low speed (I think) carb adjustment off Ebay.
You forgot the idle jet! Remove the idle adjustment screw to access the jet. Pull the jet straight up. Drill the cap covering the adjustment needle. Remove the needle. NOW you can clean the body of the carb, clean the jets, then reassemble.
Beware...gas will pour out everywhere if the tank is full. Get a bowl/can ready or empty the tank first. Also, my main jet had a one way thread so it could not be removed. Back flowing all ports worked fine though. My engine would start fine but die if I turned off the choke. Perfect now...thanks!
That last bolt you move before the carburetor was not even necessary and carburetor cleaner is not the best choice cuz it leaves residue and what you want to use is brake cleaner is Best Choice out there does not hurt Parts at all and I'm a certified technician but good video
Should there be any fluid inside of he float? My mini bike is leaking fuel from the back of the carburetor and I can’t figure out how to fix it to save my life.
Christopher Kirby if there’s gas inside the plastic float that’s not good. It means you have a crack in it somewhere and it’s filling with gas. Which in turn will cause it to not shut off the gas when the bowl is full. Also check your gaskets.
Remove the clamp off the fuel line, remove the fuel line with needle nose pliers but do not release. Get a stubby Phillips screwdriver and plug the hole before releasing your pliers. Repeat in reverse to assemble
i just had bought my minibike about a month ago and added the gopowersports kit on it excepp the larger fuel jet, and afterwards my engine started bogging down pretty bad at a higher idle, i take off my carb cap and put my screw head into my jet but decided i was going to wait, maybe i got some dirt in it or something? please give me your opinion. my bike has lost a good amount of speed and its kinda lame, but she does sound and look sweet. any info will help, thanks.
Paul, I have a new 200T mini bike, running at about 5500'. It started with first pull and choke on, started to warm up and then after about 2 minutes it would get really choppy idle, but if I take the choke off, motor dies. Tried modest adjustment to idle speed screw, but to no avail... not sure what you would recommend, and also, what is the factory spec for idle screw setting? Screw in all the way and then back out 1 1/2 turns? Suggestions welcome.
If it idles choked but stalls with the choke off it is not getting enough fuel to stay running. If I were you I would start with what you see in this video. Be very careful with the carb gaskets and how they go on. If you still have the issue after that you should scream at Coleman and hope they send you a new carb or provide a solution. I had a carb issue on a new harbor freight engine that I couldn't get rid of and they actually sent me a new carb that took care of the problem. I like tinkering with this kind of stuff. If I had your problem I would buy a tiny drill bit set and open up the main and idle jets one size at a time until there was enough fuel to idle, then go from there. The idle jet is not pulled and cleaned in this video. These engines are set up to run as lean as possible to save fuel and meet EPA regs. The only way to adjust things is by messing with the jetting. I wonder if part of your issue is the elevation you are running at? I know they actually have high elevation kits for small generator engines similar to the engine on your mini bike. Those kits probably have different jets for the carb. Good luck with your bike.
I have bought a coleman mini bike and a Coleman 2 seater kart and both are doing what you said. they will start right up with choke on then moving choke off slightly will die. I let my son ride the kart with him giving it gas to get took off and noticed the exhaust was bright red under shield. it has to be lean. so i plan to remove both carbs and clean them although they are brand new and i should not have to do this. after that if they are still lean will figure how next step to richen them a bit. i took the carb bowl off the kart and it had some sediment in the bottom of the bowl. its had less than a tank ran through it and i know my gas can was clean so wondering it this is residual from manufacturing.
My mini bike will turn off after staying on for a couple of seconds when I turn off the clutch but if I accelerate it it won’t turn off, it only turns off when I don’t I already did an oil change

Get a 1/8" flat head screwdriver... about 6" long and stick it into the jet and crack it with a hammer a few times and it force itself into the jet then just back it out
Yes why do them Idiots make a Jet Screw like that -- just causes lots of Head Aches. And the person you sell it to later complains that you messed up the Carburetor thinking you took it apart and stripped out the Jet Head.

i put the stage one kit on mine and i was trying to take out the jet and i realized it was non removable. Now it doesn’t idle well and bogs down at higher speeds. Any advice? I saw one channel screw into the jet to remove it.
Hey colemon powersports I have a colemon ct200u that will only run with choke on, if I turn the choke off it stalls but if I give it gas with the choke on then slide the choke off it will run at high speeds but as soon as I let go of the throttle it dies I've cleaned the carb but this didn't help, any ideas?

my carb is hooked up exactly how it is in the video but when I start it up as soon as I flip the choke off it takes off running wide open. If anyone could give me some ideas I’d appreciate it.

Should have had a warning to clamp off that fuel hose lol. The shutoff is in the carb, so removing the carb will let it all spill out.

when my bike was new it was necessary now its sort of worn out so not anymore but yes at first its necessary.

I know I’m late but you need the larger jet. The stock air filter has two little holes on it vs the new air filter which is wide open

Pretty much depending on size of your motor if you have the 200cc then yes and pretty much Every other 212 cc size motors will be the same

Put a small flat head screwdriver that'll fit inside where the jet is and give it a few cracks with a hammer and back it out easily

I couldn’t unscrew mine. I think the new Colemans come with a jet that has a jet designed to be screwed in and NOT screwed out... bullshit

The only mistake you made was you put float Bowl on oriented wrong. It has to be oriented so the pin can't come out of the needle and seat.
