I got an MP Smith Wesson. I thought it was just me and the fact that I need to break it in. I feel like once I use it more, it'll become easier. I get nervous now because one time I got pinched trying to pull the slide back. I've used a gun before. Went to the range several times and took a license to carry class. Eventually, when I get things together, I want to take more classes on how to handle a gun.

Yes the spring will get lighter when you use it more. You have a great gun. It will be fine. Thanks for watching!

I’ve been shooting most of my 76 years. Hand strength mainly rests in the fingers, ability to grab. The older one gets the finger strength weakens first. I have found, even with myself, and those around me tilting the platform towards the weak hand thus allowing a good thumb and finger grab on the rear and as you demonstrated and pushing with your strong hand The Grip of the platform against your grip on the slide has the best result. The tilt is very important that that position allows those with a weaken pinch to hold the slide tighter than just wrapping over the slide in it’s upward orintation. I use this in the “Israeli-draw” and there is a big advantage to that tilt, presenting the slide to the support (weak) hand. Yes, you can bring the platform into your body and use the overhand grab of the slide with the push-pull, but the orientation is at risk.
There is also the possibility in a reduced RSA that will allow an easier slide manipulation without damaging the platform, as Glock will recommend a reduced RSA in its platforms. There is also slide back-plates that can be easily installed to aid in weak hand grasping of the rear of the slide.

Now it is even easier to use the sight to assist with the rack. Thanks for watching!

Question, on a cz shadow 2 orange the slide pull is heavy and the slide is slim, I have trouble grasping it. Not sure if it's been asked already but thought I'd ask for thoughts on that? Thx

One of my biggest complaints about the CZ is the tiny slide. They did that to lower top end weight, but it is miserable to rack the slide because there is not enough grip space. That is just what that gun is. Don't use hand lotion... That is about the only suggestion I can give. Thanks for watching!

There is a better way. Buy a Glock and install either a charging ring or T-handle on the back of the slide. Problem solved. There might be other guns that have this feature but I don’t know of any. I’m 74 recovering from shoulder surgery. I can easily rack my Glock 34 with T-handle.

I prefer to adjust my grip so my index finger is on the hand grip (stock?) Instead of pointing alongside the barrel. The instinct to wrap the index finger shield the hand grip is just to risky. Of course combat drills are different. And i think a light racking gun would be best for most of this target audience. Not too mention a 20 rounds magazine for home defense. Nothing beats ample back up rounds.

My 380 is so small the I have to pinch bc there’s no room for my fingers with an overhand grip
