I'm a old retired cop. You are doing a valuable and much needed service. I've been a firearms instructor in both the military and my civilian careers, but never considered the gun store etiquette the new gun buyer needs to be familiar with to not feel like a fool. You have done a real service to many people that were lost about what to do safely. I commend your actions.
I'll pray for you.. you lied for a living. For the love of money.. i.e. job. You know what God calls liars? Sons of satan. Supreme court said ok to lie. Supreme being said not ok. You can only serve one master. You seem proud to be a retired lier? Why I say this. Few if any cops in heaven I think. Stop bragging about being a paid lier for years. And brag about finding God. God bless
Why be called a fool just because you dont know the etiquette of a shop you may never been into before. That's the store staff to educate the customer IMHO.
I’ve been a responsible gun owner, Hunter, military veteran, and shooter for more than 60 years but am still amazed at the number of people who handle firearms unsafely in gun stores. For example, people trying the trigger or just examining a gun but waving it all over the place, muzzle-sweeping everyone around them. Another example is folks who don’t either return or accept a firearm by clearing it themselves EVERY SINGLE TIME. Last but not least is those who rest their finger on the trigger all the time it is in their hand. Full disclosure here, even as safety conscious as one can be, there can always be accidents or unintended events. Just don’t let them result in an unintended discharge. Guns are ALWAYS LOADED, & never point a gun at ANYTHING OR ANYONE you don’t intend to shoot. There are other gun safety rules that matter but if you just obey these two herein, you can prevent the great majority of firearm related accidental shootings. Be safe everyone!
I understand & agree w/ everything you said.. Except for trying out the trigger. I don't quite understand what you're saying there. Are you talking about people trying out the trigger while not pointing it down & away from everyone? When I'm in a gun shop, I always ask first if I want to try out the trigger & of course clear it when I get permission (as I always clear it). I'm assuming I'm just misunderstanding what you're saying..? Because I've never been in a gun shop where they felt it's unsafe to safely try out a trigger. The way your sentence is structured.. I suppose you might be talking about ppl waving/muzzle-sweeping, while either examining or trying out the trigger..? That of course would be insane. Do you really see ppl doing that though while trying out the trigger in gun shops? I've definitely seen some ignorant ppl handling firearms in ridiculously unsafe ways. I've just never seen a person at a gun shop dry firing while muzzle sweeping. Sounds like you're a lot older than me though, so I wouldn't doubt it if you've came across more idiots than me. LOL Regardless.. Thank you for your service & God bless!
I joined the army with gun safety already instilled in me because of my dad and he taught me when you get handed a weapon you always clear it and I was stunned by how many people didn’t know how to handle a weapon
I have recommended this young lady's channel to several women. I think she is amazing; she instills confidence, puts people at ease so they don't feel embarrassed to ask a question and imparts some great advice on safety, holsters for women's various outfits, etc. She is really an amazing person.
Although I have been using/owning firearms for almost 60 years, an Army Infantry vet and a certified NRA instructor I found this video to be very well presented, quite informative for new firearms owners and a good brush up for those so called experienced gun owners. You probably are wondering why I watched your presentation. I personally seen several incidents over the years of supposedly experienced people at gun stores with some rather bad habits and questionable handling skills. Good job young lady.
A gun store "EXPERT" in my town, shot a potential customer while yanking the auto loader he (the expert) had in a short hip holster. Luckily it was not a serious wound but it turned in to a law suit and the gun dealer having to shut down the business.
Great information from both of you. Thanks for sharing. My father was in the gun business about 50 years. I still go to gun stores with him, just like when I was a kid. Someone we know pointed a gun at him in his house. The guy is a veteran which shocked my Dad. Gun safely is not sometimes it is all the time, no matter where you. My Dad who is in his mid-80s, will never forget that breach of safety, and that man will never be invited to the range. Safety training is just as important as training to shoot.
I'm an old appalachian hippie that grew up in a WW2 Marine house that never allowed guns in the house, your voice is appreciated! 61 yr old new gun owner!
My wife has recently gotten into firearms, and she is learning all of the basics. I think she will love your channel; she likes seeing ladies who enjoy the hobby in person and on video platforms. Thank you
I’m glad I found this channel. I have daughters and they’re learning to shoot. So it’s nice that they can see a young woman handle and talk about firearms. Keep it up.
I originally subscribed when I was looking for a channel that addressed women because I have two adult daughters. Recently I even sent your link to my neighbor asking for carry options. I am licensed and carry but I would love to have my daughter take the course. Sometimes it’s better to have someone other than dad teaching you!
I always find it funny when gun store guys check the weapon, drop the slide and put the mag back in then hand it to me because then I immediately drop the mag and lock back the slide to check it myself. It' surprising how many will comment and say "I just checked it." Cool story bro, I didn't.
When we hand you a gun WITH a Magazine in it, it is a SAFETY Issue (ours) The Magazine we give you in the gun is EMPTY. The one in your belt is not necessarily empty NEVER drop the magazine and turn away from the sales person
I never keep the original case the gun came in, since I never use it after purchase. If I go into any of my local gun shops, I carry it in a holster with no clip and the slide locked back. Before I remove it from the holster, I simply show it to them by turning my body so they can see the slide's back and no clip. It's just common courtesy and I've been dealing with local gun shops for so long, I guess I assumed it was common knowledge....now I guess not. I appreciate this video for people interested in first time purchases...Kudos!
Last year I joined a The Well Armed Woman shooting club. 4 weeks ago I completed and applied for my Concealed Pistol License. I want to thank you for all these videos you have put out, they have helped me tremendously in being able to pass my test with flying colors! I would love to enter your academy course. Thank you for all you do for us beginners.
I walked into a shop with my wife and teenage daughter (17 at the time) my daughter decided to look at a firearm (this is Texas, mind you), and she swept the store with it… I immediately took the gun away and gave it back to the dealer, then corrected her on what she did. I have had hunters safety courses, so I am very sensitive on firearms safety. The gentleman behind the counter was grateful that I was able to teach her the finer points of firearms safety in a public setting. Good video.
It surprises me your Texan daughter wasn't taught proper gun etiquette by 17. I'm from WI and most kids here have gun safety courses by 10yo and often earlier. I hope you didn't have a gun in the house without teaching your kids about them.
This was a great video and something I needed to know prior to going into my local firearms dealer. I am new to firearms ownership, and want to make sure that when purchasing a home defense pistol I am following the safe and proper protocols when in store. One major concern I had was wanting to test trigger pull, dry fire. So I am extremely grateful you put that into this. Lastly, a great topic that I didnt even think about would be how to manage purchasing a holster with my current fire arm. These were valuable tips and I thank you for that. Well off to my dealer. Thank you again.... D
I bought my first gun a few months ago but I am nervous about using it because three years ago I was diagnosed with cancer and am proud to say I survived BUT it left me with only one eye so I am nervous about using a gun and being comfortable with my handgun. With the state of the world it would make me feel so much more comfortable being able to carry a firearm with me everyday and I feel like your class could really help me feel more comfortable with my handgun. I love your channel and I’m so glad there are channels out there that are all about being comfortable and carrying everyday as a woman.
A girl I work with just got just got her 1st gun. She's been to the range once and is still nervous. She is a single mom and stylish like you. I would very much like to give her this subscription to your class if I win.
I have really learned a lot from your videos. I would love to take your course and want to feel best prepared to defend myself and my family. Feeling vulnerable and would really love the chance to take your course!
Give her time. Rome wasn't built in a day and basic marksmanship fundamentals takes time to master. As long as she puts in the work she will eventually get the hang of things.
I’m a beginner and I have found that working with a professional and taking lessons at least once a month has been tremendously helpful and we do it at an outdoor range.
Five months ago I was attacked by an intruder in my home with ill intent. After a struggle inside the home, I was able to get away from him & get to my gun. I didn’t have to pull the trigger but was able to get him to leave after pointing, cocking my revolver & telling him to go. Although I was able to safely get out of that situation, I resolved to be better prepared at all times. I now carry on my person all the time whether at home or out & about. I want to become more proficient & I want to be able to help others because of what I’ve been through & learned. I have watched several of your videos & they have been a huge help over these last few months. I would love to go through your course & become a more confident, knowledgeable and proficient concealed carry gun owner.
Being a single woman, in this world we live in, I have decided that I'm going to conceal carry. I took a ccw class and applied for my license. I haven't chosen a gun yet, but I want to and need to get more confident. I heard about your channel in the ccw class from another student in the class. You are so inspirational and confident. You are my inspiration! Thank you for what you do. I would love to win.
I am a 42 year old wife and mother of 3... I've had my CPL for 15 years now. Love your channel... new sub! My Marine friend taught me all these things, but it's always good for a refresher.
One of the things I've never heard on these videos, is asking to use one of the stores guns to check to see if magazine or holster that matches your gun if your looking for. I've done this a number of times and the store owner's always were happy to assist with that.
If you're bringing a gun in Grab 8in of trimmer string and run it through the barrel and out of the action. Makes everyone more comfortable when im bringing a firearm through the shop for trade in or holster shopping.
Thank you, Stav for offering your Armed and Confident Course to one lucky person. I hope it is me. I took my first gun safety class in July 2021. One month later, a certified NRA instructor met me at an outdoor range and I was able to try out a few of his guns before purchasing my own. While researching youtube for gun reviews I came across your video where you compared the regular S & W to the Shield Plus. I was so impressed with your review of the Shield Plus that this is the gun that I purchased. I love it. Tomorrow I take my LTC class. I want to conceal and feel confident and comfortable. Most importantly, I want to feel safe carrying a gun and know that the people around me are safe as well. Thank you.
I know someone who has talked about concealed carry for 30+ years, but has yet to go through the process (Pennsylvania requires completion of paperwork + a nominal fee). Her brother has been licensed to carry for 40+ years and her husband is a avid outdoorman. So, she's no stranger to firearms. She's 4' 10" and 55 years old now. We are at a vulnerable time of our lives (criminals view our generation as easy targets) and her continued well-being is important to me. Thank you, my husband and I enjoy your channel and we both have had our CCL for decades.
Always sweep the room, show your firearm expertise with a quick draw, try and load the weapon to verify that it’s the caliber they claim, test the glass countertop for shatter resistance, if possible while waiting for service help the salesman by lecturing another prospective customer on the firearm from your perspective, and finally beat them up on price in a loud tone of voice and demand free ammunition be included. Oh yeah, always mention that the same gun is much cheaper on line!
Great video. My approach (I am a vet) is even if you've seen someone clear a weapon and hand it to you, you need to clear it. Always assume a weapon you are handed/pick up is at the highest degree of weapon readiness and go through your unloading drill.
Why do I need this course? I fit that profile! Took a pistol safety course. Got my CCL. Purchased 3 pistols (and won 2 more) Purchased ammo, holsters, range bag, eye & ear protection, speed loaders, gun safe, and a laser training system. This was back in March and I have yet to fire a bullet thru any of my pistols. 🤦🏼♀️ 🤦🏼♀️ I really enjoyed shooting at my class but still feel so intimidated and afraid to walk into a gun range! Sad but true. Thank You for your channel! I continue to educate myself on shooting and really appreciate your content.
Natalie, look into joining A Girl and A Gun, there may be a local chapter near you. I started shooting in July 2020 and I got involved in the club and have also taken other classes with the same instructor. I’m making new friends, participating in Steel Plate competitions, and no longer afraid to go to the range alone. Just this weekend, we had a Girls Weekend with self defense and legal seminars, a Glock demo with their reps, and a full day of drills at the range today. I have pistol envy btw. I only have two. Congrats and welcome to the sisterhood!
Very good video. I’m a combat, disabled, and retired vet of 20+ plus year and with that said we get a lot of weapons training and shooter. Especially over that many years. However, we don’t get etiquette training for a gun shop. We get etiquette training military style which means when you first go in and handle a weapon if you pointing the wrong direction you are going to be getting yelled at and be doing a lot of push-ups. This video you did with the EDDIE kid in mind in the store was spot on fantastic and I know it will help a lot of people that are first learning what they need to do when they go into a gun store. Good job and great presentation from both you and the clerk at the store. Your quality videos are much appreciated not only this one but all the ones that you’ve done that I’ve watched were you and your husband or showing different holsters different conceal techniques and so on so fourth are great! Keep up the awesome job that you’re doing!
I really like this channel. Great content. I just purchased the Ruger .380 LCP Max based on your endorsement plus several others. Seeing another woman who is so pro and so confident in all things guns, confidence, and know how, actually managed to capture her attention. Prior to stumbling into this channel, I could not find someone who was not ultra masculine, and seemingly not someone with patience to help a beginner to step into the pool so to speak where you’re waaay less likely to find a woman that knows as much as this young lady shows to know in her presentation of specs and facts and ultimately in giving a real bonafide opinion based upon her needs and how congruent the weapon is for the situation and the owner. It’s sincerely the best point ever made, when she says, “the best gun to carry is the gun you’re best and most confident with. Forgive me for paraphrasing. It’s a process and takes time to find and feel the right gun/guns for you. The brutes who dominate gun culture in the US are ALWAYS so similar. Totally boring bland seldom smiling types that are only ever all too keen to tell you that you’re doing something wrong or that whatever new tactical gadget is what makes a gun great or the Omni-present cop ball washers. Guys who call the cops when a potential patron shows up at a range to shoot. Having a single loaded magazine forgotten in the case but, not at all was there ever a loaded magazine loaded into the guns mag well…. It was simply a loaded 8 end single stack 1911 magazine and, the range/store owner called the cops and at the very least complicated the fuck out of a man’s life for next to no reason whatsoever other than to hammer home redundancies. Not necessarily practical safety concerns. I’m not sure what happened in the end but, I do know that the cops weren’t his friends. They sought to bury a man with no prior arrests for the crime of a loaded mag…. Totally fucked. Anyways. I’ve gone off here tangentially. Nevertheless; I find this channel to be very good whether you’re a man woman or child for it’s very clear and engaging lessons. She’s easy to connect With…. Meaning in the capacity of UA-cam creator/viewers connecting or feeling that connection. In this case the dynamics are student teacher I’ll shut up. As a man, I must also say, she is easy on the eyes. I also think she looks a bit like my own wife. Regardless. I subscribed and plan to watch many more to come. Cheers.
Thank you Stav for all the videos you have posted! They have get a great tool. My dad and I both enjoy them and like to discuss what we saw. A few months ago, I purchased my first gun and obtained my conceal handgun license. I would like to take your course to learn anything and everything I can about being confident to carry.
Earlier this year I purchased a handgun and took a concealed carry class at a local shop. I don't feel confident enough to carry it with me anywhere. I think I have fired about 50 rounds at an indoor range back in March since my class. Your classes may be just what I need.
Congratulations, Stav! I took a basic firearms course a few months ago, and realized that there is so much to learn and know. My husband is a firearms instructor and I enjoy learning from him. But I was so happy to find your UA-cam channel because I value your knowledge from a female’s perspective. I would love to take your course!
Thank you for such a great and informative video. As a relatively new shooter, I really learned a lot about the etiquette of handling a gun when I walk into a gun store to look at a new firearm. Subscribed!
I'm happy to have found you. I have my gun, but until today, it stayed in the box while looked for a vault. I joined USCCA, and now have a vault. Currently trying to find lessons and watching as many videos from USCCA.
I used to work in a gunshop and can agree with everything covered in this video. When you walk into a gunshop make sure you put your "COMMON SENSE" hat on. Leave your "MACHO" ego out in the car. We always encouraged folks to ask questions no matter how inexperienced you sound. Remember, Safety should be the highest issue on your mind when you walk in the door.
Congrats! I love that your channel keeps growing. I would love to take the course to educate myself about handling and caring a weapon. I’m waiting for my CC license to arrive and I’m eager to learn. Caring and handling a weapon is still a taboo topic among my culture. I am the first woman in my family to be interested in home and self defense and I want to open the door for the new generation.
You have helped istalled confidance and knowlege as a beginner at 72!!! I disnt realise so many things. I think you do an excellant job. !!! My favorite utube!!!! Thank you so much..!!!!!
For your course, I know that it would be beneficial for me. The reason is because I currently have the ring doorbell in which we get alerts not just of what’s happening at our front steps but around our neighborhood. A lot is happening as far as car thefts, home break ins, as well as deviancy. I have small children at home, while I’d like to learn about protecting them and myself through your course because of the reasons above. It’s something I’ve wanted to do, but am not sure where to start. Thank you!
My roommate as well as myself have a pretty solid system if someone knocks or is on the property after 10 without either of us expecting someone we go ahead and grab our pistols its not a bad neighborhood per say but its not a gated community either and it is in town significantly below national average crime rates but they do happen our dogs also never really freak out about people or noises they dont ever bark unless theyve heard a noise often enough a racoon or some such cause if you come on the property with a gun not holstered or on your back our king shepherd will absolutely attempt to bite your arm wrist or hand and get you to drop it if your daughters have dogs they want to teach this attitude to we just bought nice low powered airsoft pistols and rifles like a hundred and fifty feet per second weve shot each other shirtless point blank with them on our skin obviously before we would ever consider it on the dog hes our big ol baby but it stings a little and left a red spot for like 20 minutes on our skin again get a low powered one please dont hurt your dog just make sure he doesnt like it but it took about 3 or 4 times coming into the yard through the back gate and shooting him in the but cheek with it shepherds are very fast learning intelligent dogs and around the house we carried them holstered so he builds that association between a drawn weapon and a holstered one drawn weapon is bad holstered weapon is ok and wear some kind of forearm and wrist protection otherwise your dog will either think its not ok to take someones gun away with everything hes got or you'll get hurt in the process but I mean we spent maybe a hundred bucks and two weeks periodically training him and he has a very good understanding of what to do if someone who doesnt live there has a weapon out in our yard or house and if someone tries to break in without a weapon im a veteran hes national guard and we hit the range and run drills every two or three weekends we can have it more than handled by the time the cops arrive dont know what your kids price range is but while I personally splurged a little and got a really nice walther that I love glocks arent that expensive and for a first time buyer theyre a solid handguns if you have to go cheap dont get a high point please at least get a taurus again not great handguns but they do the job and I know training can get expensive when the dod isnt paying for it just get a good high and tight hold squeeze the trigger with the pad of your finger and make sure youve got money for a few hundred rounds to familiarize yourself with and start slow no need to be john wick on day one for a first time firearm shooter in general I only put one round in the firearm and have them shoot it before I load full magazines for them took an ex to the range once its not uncommon for people not accostomed to it to freak out a little on that first loud bang or even drop the firearm most guns are drop safe but you can be safe a thousand times and fuck up once and that once is the only one that matters
I got my first gun a few months ago, but I don't feel as confident and comfortable as I want to when I concealed carry. I know that I need more training, but I don't have the time and money to do as much as I should. I love online options like yours that I can do between live training sessions.
I definitely would benefit from your course during Covid I didn’t really get to practice much, I think anyone who wants to have more confidence should do as many classes as possible.
Great video for new gun owners and old alike, giving some basic protocols for visiting a gun shop. Safety, safety, safety. No accidents and everyone is having a good time checking out the hardware.
Watched this yesterday and was confident enough to go into my local shop alone. I know what to ask, how to hold and aim during dry firing and tried out 7 different firearms. Thank you so much!
I would love the chance to attend your class. You are the reason I bought my first gun, the Smith and Wesson Shield, just like yours. I have watched all of your videos and I love learning from you and the occasional Mac appearance. Your confidence and teaching ability have made a world of difference in my view of firearms and I can’t imagine that I would love guns as much as I do now if I had not run into your channel all that time ago.
I've taken the concealed carry class. But, no other. Most of my gun education came from the range and a lot on UA-cam. Guess what ! I've been shooting for 30 + years. From the mistakes I've made It's always when I've forgotten the safety rules for a second. I'm 77 now and have to be even more alert. Why would I benefit from this call or any class, is recently, a few years ago, I make a big safety no no. I didn't check for the round in the barrel. What a wakeup call. Now I'm so carefully and I slow down. I'm a great fan especially have my wife and other ladies watch your program. The program is down to earth and is easy to follow. We gen never stop learning because it's a very dangerous tool we hold in our hands. Love your show. We need you there Thanks G.R
I am a brand new gun owner. I watch your channel all the time because, as a woman, we are often made feel inferior to men when it comes to gun ownership. When I watch you, I feel empowered! The man at the gun shop even complimented me because he knew I did my research. Thanks again.
It doesn't matter how privileged and coddled y'all women are. You'll find SOMETHING to feel oppressed about 😂 Truly the sign of someone who is "empowered" 💀
My daughter started shooting with me at 12yrs old, she is now 30yrs old. She just received her pistol certificate and is in the process of obtaining her pistol permit. There is a need for more education, information and confidence. She and I would benefit greatly from the course. Congratulations on 100/100 achievement.
Congrats on your milestone! My husband bought me my first gun about a year ago. I carry most days but still feel nervous, I think I could be definitely benefit from your course!
A scout leader I've trained was good with long guns but terrified of handguns but trusted me enough to come try some of mine. Now she has her carry permit & a Shield Plus(after trying mine) & proudly showed me her new Ruger Mark IV yesterday. She's subscribed to your channel Ms. Stav & I think your videos helped her more than I did once I got her started. If I win she would be the perfect recipient. Thank you for your help with her.
Stumbled upon your channel I’m new to firearm ownership and just getting my feet wet when it comes to knowledge I know I have a lot more learning a head of me. Also liked that you are a female teaching other females and making it a little less “scary” for use newbies
Cool that you're doing these videos, I believe it's empowering for women to become comfortable and proficient with firearms. armed society is polite society, well wishes!
I worked at a pawn shop for about 8 months. It does take some practice to not be alarmed when a man walks in the door with a Remington 870 shotgun in his hands! Cased Firearms are always best! 😉
Me, too! Gosh, I feel so uncomfortable and guilty; I’m even uncomfortable to check out multiple guns from behind the counter! I’ll see one, then too shy to ask about others, lol. I tend to buy online and pick up at my FFL, without getting to check one out first)-:
@@micronious5747 same! That’s why I was so thankful for this video because I really want to full on support my local gun shops instead of just picking up my third party online orders from them.
I believe there needs to be 2 more things added. when the slide lock is engaged, dont just release the lock and let the slide slam. Also if it is a revolver, DO NOT use momentum to put the cylinder back in. Adding to this, make sure you hold the lock open for the cylinder then place it back in.
I am a business owner. During the summer of 2020, I was very disturbed with the numerous riots and business break ins throughout the country. I have decided to become a gun owner. I have purchased a .22LR rifle and a .22LR pistol. I have used these guns to get comfortable with handling guns. I also took a basic gun course at my local gun shop. Now I am feeling comfortable with handling guns, I am about to purchase a 9 mm pistol and train for a CCW permit. I look forward to your videos about carrying a concealed gun.
It's always a good thing to have a video such as this. Many new gun owners recently. Even experienced gun owners can at times neglect the aspects of these etiquette practices.
Congratulations Stav that is so exciting! I am so happy I found your channel. I have been learning so much from your videos. I recently made my first purchase and I am now waiting to do my class. I am a mommy of 5 littles and working my way to be more comfortable with EDC. Thank you for making these videos and covering such great topics for us!
All excellent safety points. I've had some top notch training over the years, and recognize safe/unsafe handling procedures. My primary training was from Lethal Force Institute (LFI 1, LFI 2). Great video!
I think that this was a great video, as a gun shop employee that has worked at the range checkin area I cant tell you how many times I had a gun pointed at me, its a good thing all are rentals have trigger locks on them as we un lock them at the range and put them in a gun bag.
I don't want to win Stav, I just wanted to compliment you on a well done interview and congratulate you on your 100/100K accomplishment. I'm always excited to receive a notification of your newest video & they always end much too soon. Regards to Mac and Mila!
This is before watching the whole video so take it with that in mind. I'm old and have been to hundreds of gun shops, many times there have been minimum wage hires behind the counter who shouldn't have been there. He is right, no one should be handed a gun in battery, drop the mag and lock the action open before handing a gun to a customer, if they don't know how to close the action and keep their finger off the trigger that's a chance to sell them a safety course and keep them alive. There are damn few safety points needed for a normal law abiding person who would be in a gun shop to start with, the first one is A GUN Is LOADED unless you have checked FOR YOURSELF that it isn't. No one gets shot accidently with a gun that isn't loaded.
I would love to win this course for my daughter. She's a relatively new shooter and would benefit greatly from having the direction of an armed and confident female instructor. Congrats on 100K and thanks for the opportunity to win!
I am a 61 yo lady who is new to firearm ownership. I would love to be able to say I am confident when handling my new gun, I read/watch all I can in order to gain not only education but confidence as well. I would love to be included in the drawing for your online class. I sometimes wonder if I'm the only 60ish lady learning all she can!! Love your channel!!!
I would absolutely love to win!! I've recently started carrying and still get quite nervous while carrying! I am also a mother to 4 children and definitely want to become confident while carrying so I can protect us while out in public. 😃 It really would be so helpful to my whole family!! ❤ ❤ 🔫
I am a 70 year old senior who has only dry-fired my new pistol (I just recently purchased my first pistol - a Sig Sauer 365XL as well as my first rifle - an AR15). I bought quite a bit of ammo for the pistol and less for the rifle. Because I need to be frugle and the cost of ammo is pretty expensive for my budget I opted to buy an X-10 Elite to practice with in my house. I live in a subdivision in Texas and have become concerned about my safety because of issues at the Texas Southern Border. I would SO appreciate free tuition to your new course. I have been watching your You Tube videos since the pandemic started and they gave me the courage to venture out and buy these new guns. I know that the course would up my 'courage factor' a good bit more. Thank you for your kind consideration. Lynn Rowan
I have been a gun owners since a 8yrs old. Great community for the most part. My question is universal. Why are the dudes behind the counter such jackwads? Is it so hard to be pleasant when someone approaches them to spent hundreds of dollars? I have gone to online purchases using a local FFL. The hassle of dealing with dealer dusche bags has gotten more than I can stand. And the markups are stupid. Its like they havent heard of the internet yet.
I’m getting my first firearm and I was looking at what shops are near me and the reviews were hit or miss but the responses from the owners of multiple shops were AWFUL!! I wanted to support small and local but threw up my hands and went to Sportsman’s and while people have frustrations w waiting for a sales person, every encounter I’ve had has been great. The first guy I saw had me playing “name that tune/artist” w him and it made the process so much more relaxed. If there’s anything I’ve observed so far in my life there are generally 2 kinds of gun people… chill, safe and patient aaaaaaand… entitled, fueled by rage, fear and a superiority complex and generally a massive a-hole. I’ve gathered those pissy shop people are the latter.
When I do something stupid, I would appreciate somebody telling me what I did. Far too often I'm confronted by an expert who seems to think I'm just being a jerk.
Right. It is so much easier for these “experts” to criticize rather than educate us. They all forgot how they too started at some point and perhaps made these same mistakes.
Just a word of caution. This is addressing the Senior Citizens. I'm 55 and have my head on straight but, anyone can get to the point while aging that they can get to a point that one should NOT be handling firearms. Good measuring tool is driving habits diminishing as one gets older. Listen to your family or even the stranger at the gas pump who tells you your driving is getting bad. Too many seniors (Boomers) have HUGE egos that need to be put in check. I have even told my children who are adults that if they see me slipping to not be offended and tell me my driving is getting bad before I possibly hurt or kill someone. My kids are more than happy to drive me somewhere. I live in a mid sized midwest town that is rapidly filling up with military and federal government retirees. You see it everyday the bad driving by these individuals who when confronted politely tend to get very angry to the point I seen one get cocky and a younger guy punched him out cold at a gas pump, to be fair the old guy did get into the younger guys personal space a bad breath distance. You get what you get in some cases. You were never a bad ass to begin with, so don't start at age 101. I'm Generation X and my kids tell me how they can see how my generation gets along with their generation a whole lot better that my parents (Boomer) generation does with my X generation. I tell them that Gen X are far better listeners then my parent's generation was and they agree. My kids have a Boomer grandmother that everything goes in one ear and out the other and ALWAYS has to have her way. I like the comments I receive from my kids concerning this. Listening is very important, it can solve a problem if done right before there is a worse problem to confront. Some just need to put spoiled hard egos on a back burner and be an honest listener. Truth can hurt but, one can learn if they are being an adult about it.
The elderly were murdered en masse April 2020. Handling a firearm is far different than handling a ton of high speed metal. Your assessment is fraught with so many irrational points that I’m sure you know very little about the brain or the changes it goes through as one ages. As for how “stubborn” boomers are…we have a generation and a half who thinks a centralized government is a good idea. You might be Gen-X, but you sound like Gen-Y.
@@josephcoon5809 It is not my fault some peoples brains do not work as well as they age and this sometimes translates into poor driving causing deaths and injuries that I deal with daily and see it first hand. So your saying the older BAD drivers are supposed to be given a free pass when they seriously injure or kill innocent people ? Do your research and you will see your Boomer Generation ruined an economy, thats a fact. Your generation is selfish beyond belief, very self centered. After just recently doing a deposition for two accident attorneys and one accident investigator for an accident I witnessed I heard it first hand from them that seniors ARE the number 1 killers on the road today.
@@rtaggs8178 That’s not at all what I said, so your English comprehension is as strong as your neuroscience. Look up “chart of the century” and you’ll see who ruined the economy, son. I can school you on economics as well.
@@rtaggs8178 Here’s how ridiculous your argument is: “3. Youth killed in gun accidents are shot by other youth The majority of people killed in firearm accidents are under age 24, and most of these young people are being shot by someone else, usually someone their own age. The shooter is typically a friend or family member, often an older brother. By contrast, older adults are at a far lower risk of accidental firearm death, and most often are shooting themselves. This article highlights one of the many benefits of the National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS). Before the NVDRS, data on the shooter in unintentional gun deaths was not readily available.” - harvard dot edu Now, if we factor in homicides, then we would conclude that those under 24 are the most dangerous with firearms so should not be allowed to drive vehicles. See how ridiculous it is to use the statistics for ONE scenario to make judgements on a completely different scenario? Why didn’t you post the statistics for accidental gun death/injuries perpetrated by older people? That would be far more relevant than mentioning driving habits.
@@josephcoon5809 Sorry but, I have a son with a Phd in Economics so sorry your wrong. See you skipped over the Senior Killer thihg. CDC Injury Center- Drivers 70+ have a higher crash rate per mile than middle-aged drivers 35-54. Drivers 65 and older are 16% more likely to cause an accident than adult drivers between 25 and 64 years of age. One of the attorneys I talked to at the deposition with his firm alone has recovered over $ 100,000,000 in settlements and verdicts, all seniors drivers as the cause. He also has a 98% success rate on settlements and 100% success rate in jury trials, all being seniors drivers as the cause. I don't expect like facts but, there it is. I know your generation is never at fault it is always someone else who is. So you have to stoop to rudeness because you don't like what you read. Guess that is someone else's fault also ?
I always enjoyed female teachers more than men. Females tend to just be better at teaching, more caring and easier to understand. A female teaching gun related material? You got my sub. Very informative material!
Just before the world went insane or maybe as it started going full on batshit I was buying a concealed carry pistol having finally gotten my permit. Lady 4-5 feet down the counter is lookie-louing every gun in the .380 case and sweeping the hell out of me, the guy helping me, the employee helping her and everyone else in range. I looked over and asked "Would you please stop sweeping me and others with those guns? It's making me really uncomfortable." and she got all pissy and angry, slammed the gun she had in her hand down bitching that it was empty, the action was open the triggers were locked. On and on. And hey, I don't like guns pointed at me, could you NOT? People are weird.
My cc permit expired last year. I hadn't shot since renewing 6 yrs ago. I wasn't sure I wanted to carry ... Awesome instructor & his wife showed me a much better way to hold it. LoL the funniest part was finding I didn't like the pistol of had for 12 yrs & never shot! It felt like my hands just slid on gravel. The S&W EZ was suggested. Now I'm looking forward to going out to try it. Fits my hand way better than the Kel-Tek. Painful! But I'm not scared of them any more! Just hunting for carry options now ... CONGRATS ON THE GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT!
I live in Queens, NY and I'm applying for a gun permit. I've taken a course on penal law...article 35, 256 and 400. I've watched tons of videos on gun safety to gain as much knowledge as possible. The more I can learn, the more prepared I'll be when I get my permit, and buy my first fire arm. I hope I get to learn from you. Goodluck everyone!
When I bring my revolver or pistol into the gun store or range, I like to put each one in a clear, one-gallon sized bag, unloaded (of course) with the cylinder out or slide retracted and magazine removed. It immediately shows that the firearm is not in a firing condition.
Thank you so much for making this video. I am about to make my first gun purchase, and I've been mildly nervous about the gun shop visit. However, your video has helped to calm my fears. 👍🏾
When I'm at my local to me gun store, I always ask the staff if it's ok to do whatever I want to do. They're usually ok with it, but I often tell the employees around them (if they exist) that I'm about to remove my gun from my holster to check something and to say, X employee knows about it. They're usually ok with it. I also ask if I can leave a gun on the counter to try my gun in something, but I"ll go and get the something from the shelf and bring it to where the gun is. I think it's just super important and polite and considerate to simply ask if it's ok to do something than to simply assume.
Me and my little sister were thinking about taking classes at a gun range before buying a firearm. So we know what gun is best for are hands not what someone else thinks we should own. What's good for someone else might not be good for us.
I work at a store where we have various taxidermal mountings of small and large game high on the walls and that’s our “safer direction “. most of our customer base already knows this and new customers pick up on it quickly as there are signs on a few of them. I always found that bit neat about the business even before I worked there.
Would love to give this to my wife. We bought her a gun a year ago but she has not felt comfortable getting out into public due to health concerns. I have enjoyed your channel and you and Mac do a great job. Keep up the good work and congratulations on 100k subs and your 100th video!
I got my permit not quite 2 yrs ago. At the time my mom lived with me and because she had dimentia I couldn't get much training in without having someone to sit with her. After she passed I had freedom but now I can't find bullets to practice. I am still a bit uncomfortable handling a firearm. I love watching your videos and have gotten a lot of good advice from them. Congrats on the milestone and keep up the great work :)
As someone who has a carry permit, I do frequent gun shops and have seen some pretty HORRENDOUS things!! This is a great video to help clarify what's OK and what's not...definitely something EVERYONE needs to know...and it's a greatly overlooked topic...soooo GREAT VIDEO and CONGRATULATIONS on reaching your goal!!!
I am 70 years old and love to shoot. I am a wing shooter so I enjoy clay shooting. I own 6 pistols but just don't feel confident going to the range to shoot. I think that your class is just wat I am looking for, someone to help me build more confidence in pistol shooting.
I grew up in a family of gun enthusiasts, but I never was allowed to shoot. I’m determined to overcome my fears, and am thankful for all the information that you share.
My boyfriend and I have recently made the decision to buy our first handgun for home defense and are wanting to learn more about firearm safety and self protection. The later half is especially true since I will be a new aunt in December and want to share my new knowledge and experience with my sister and brother-in-law so they can also understand a way to protect their family. My sister is very afraid of guns but I think it comes from a place of not understanding how guns work and why women especially value having a gun for self protection. Anywho I'm so happy for you Stav hitting 100k subscribers! Since starting our gun journey we have been so appreciative of your channel and the informative videos you make. Congrats! 😺
I was about to say this was your most important videos you've made but then thought about that... they're ALL important. This one I guess hit me because I'm sure most people looking to buy their first wouldn't think about their behavior until they are about to walk into the store. If that makes sense. Great topic.
I am a double amputee and with that i feel that makes me a huge target, On Top of being a smallerish woman. I have been carring for about 6mth consistently but i still feel that if it came down to using it to protect my family, especially if i have my kids without my husband, I wont be confident enough in all the steps i need to safely withdrawal and fire if i needed to. I have been watching your videos since i started this journey and have been learning so much from you, this course i feel would give me that boost of condidence im slacking. But even if i dont win i am truly blessed to come across your channel and learned so much from you. Keep up the amazing work and empowering women! 👏 👏
The beauty of _The Four Rules_ is that you have to not follow two for a bad outcome. Rule one is that all guns are always loaded; make it and the other three a _HABIT_ . Advice to store owners: Have Snap Caps. A potential customer should be able to chamber a round and experience the trigger in whatever action it may perform. Have them for sale! Dry fire is a good way for a new owner to become acquainted at first.
Canadian in Canada. I remember I JUST got my RPAL a couple years ago (which effectively meant I could legally purchase and transfer handguns). I remember asking a clerk at Cabelas if I could check out the glock 17 under the glass. He asked for my RPAL, I handed it, he handed me the glock. It was the very first time I’d ever held a real, non-deactivated handgun before. I was RIDICULOUSLY nervous about looking like an idiot, you could see me shaking. I went to go rack the slide, something I’d done on practice arms and Airsoft handguns before many times, but I was surprised at just how much more resistance in the mechanism there was on the real McCoy. I was too nervous about breaking something so I tried again three more times a little less gently each time, eventually handing it back. It was a moment of pure vulnerability on my part, I psyched myself out way too much. I went back the next day with a far clearer understanding of etiquette and expectations, and didn’t have any issues further. But oof that first time was a rough one 😂
I really like what you said about "if you don't know what to do, just ask." VERY important consideration.
And it extends way beyond gun store etiquette.
God bless
*an old
Cops have the most recordable documented weapons handling records.
As a civilian, please educate yourself more.
Why be called a fool just because you dont know the etiquette of a shop you may never been into before. That's the store staff to educate the customer IMHO.
I came here just for the info in case I go into a store with my pistol. I'm glad to have come across this. Video for the informational value of it
I’ve been a responsible gun owner, Hunter, military veteran, and shooter for more than 60 years but am still amazed at the number of people who handle firearms unsafely in gun stores.
Right you are!!
LOL
Regardless.. Thank you for your service & God bless!
I joined the army with gun safety already instilled in me because of my dad and he taught me when you get handed a weapon you always clear it and I was stunned by how many people didn’t know how to handle a weapon
My dad has always told me treat every gun you handle like it’s loaded muzzle down finger off the trigger and just cautious in general
I got anxiety just reading the first paragraph 😮
I have recommended this young lady's channel to several women. I think she is amazing; she instills confidence, puts people at ease so they don't feel embarrassed to ask a question and imparts some great advice on safety, holsters for women's various outfits, etc. She is really an amazing person.
Thank you Paul and thank you for sharing my channel!
I agree, Paul. I just subbed to her channel!
She resembles my Daughter...smart, sweet & petite (oh and of course Beautiful) 🙏✝️🙏
Yes daddy.. :/
so full of yourself but too little recognition...
Seeks attention on yt. like little dancing girls on Tiktok.
Keep it up.
Thank you so much!! I hope they get some value out of my videos :) Best of luck to your daughters!
Stave you are a natural teacher, very clear and helpful. 100 videos, and I think I've seen all of them. Thanks to you, and congratulations .
I do the same thing but never got that comment from and then I ask to dry fire and give him back the gun and mag separately
Okay cool takes two seconds to do it
When we hand you a gun WITH a Magazine in it, it is a SAFETY Issue (ours)
The Magazine we give you in the gun is EMPTY.
The one in your belt is not necessarily empty
NEVER drop the magazine and turn away from the sales person
Very well done. Not all people know how to handle firearms especially in public. Simple and to the point.
How’d your daughter not know that even clearly unloaded guns could kill a room full of people?
Why did you not tell her that wasn’t ok. That’s on you
So glad I found your channel. I bought my 1st. Today! And I just signed up for a course with the school you interviewed.
That's awesome!! You're on your way, Karen! :)
I'm so glad it was helpful to you!!
I hope you win just because your not thinking of yourself
I only teach single cougars, moms and dog moms lol.
Absolutely. Treat EVERY gun as if it's loader, and NEVER point it at anyone you don't intend to shoot.
Even unloaded guns are super dangerous.
One of the things I've never heard on these videos, is asking to use one of the stores guns to check to see if magazine or holster that matches your gun if your looking for. I've done this a number of times and the store owner's always were happy to assist with that.
Congrats on your 100K, little sister! So proud of you. ❤❤ Love you! Keep up the great work.
People at gun ranges are nicer and more helpful than people at golf ranges. Get out there and have some fun
Nicki Lynn wow! That's an awesome club! Hoping I can find something like that near me!!
Love, love you. I just learn so much every time I watch you. I always walk away saying to myself
“ oh that’s why or oh now that makes perfect sense “.
She’s easy to connect
With…. Meaning in the capacity of UA-cam creator/viewers connecting or feeling that connection. In this case the dynamics are student teacher
I’ll shut up.
Remember,
Safety should be the highest issue on your mind when you walk in the door.
I have seen dumb stuff from both sides of the gun counter. Most customers are safe.

More people needs to hear this. I would love for my wife to attend your course !. Thanks for all you do .
We need you there
Thanks
G.R
I am a brand new gun owner. I watch your channel all the time because, as a woman, we are often made feel inferior to men when it comes to gun ownership. When I watch you, I feel empowered! The man at the gun shop even complimented me because he knew I did my research. Thanks again.
It doesn't matter how privileged and coddled y'all women are. You'll find SOMETHING to feel oppressed about 😂
Truly the sign of someone who is "empowered" 💀
Congratulations, well deserved!!
I’m sure there’s more to come!!!
She really knows what she is talking about... and I have to admit not hard on the eyes.
@@hanc37 Nah, you don't have to admit that. Don't be creepy.
I worked at a pawn shop for about 8 months. It does take some practice to not be alarmed when a man walks in the door with a Remington 870 shotgun in his hands! Cased Firearms are always best! 😉
Yes! For some reason I’m always scared I’m going to do something wrong a gun shop 😂
No worries tell them that you're new and need some help. They we help you out if you're honest. Great people when you're really honest. Blessings
Training Academy sounds awesome. Newbie here.
Me too!! 😂😂
Now I am feeling comfortable with handling guns,
I am about to purchase a 9 mm pistol and train for a CCW permit.
I would love to feel more confident in every day carry. Your videos are so very helpful!
Mass Firearms? That's where I got my LTC. Knowledgeable & professional. Respectful and not condescending. A great experience.
Instant sub once I saw you're in MA. Looking forward to learning more stuff from your channel that's applicable to this state
Just a word of caution.
@@rtaggs8178 Here’s how ridiculous your argument is:
“3. Youth killed in gun accidents are shot by other youth
The majority of people killed in firearm accidents are under age 24, and most of these young people are being shot by someone else, usually someone their own age. The shooter is typically a friend or family member, often an older brother. By contrast, older adults are at a far lower risk of accidental firearm death, and most often are shooting themselves. This article highlights one of the many benefits of the National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS). Before the NVDRS, data on the shooter in unintentional gun deaths was not readily available.” - harvard dot edu
Now, if we factor in homicides, then we would conclude that those under 24 are the most dangerous with firearms so should not be allowed to drive vehicles.
You never practiced shooting your cc? You going to use it well under stress?
So so happy I found her. This is great for me. I have never shot a gun. Lots to learn so happy she makes it simple and doesn’t make me feel stupid.
I’m a new gun owner. Never fired on and I’m turning 70 in February. Would love to take your course!
Check it out!! It might be a great fit for you :)

Congrats! 😺
Being armed with knowledge about being armed is a positive in all situations! Congratulations!!
Dryfire question was a good one for everyone to hear. Finding that trigger pull and wall is a good thing test out.
