No. Tell Ron to slow his back stroke down and have a more fluid follow through. Plus tell Ron to work on his bridge hand and stay down until the cue ball stops moving. unless a ball is going to hit his stick. Remember it's not how hard you hit the cue ball it's how well you follow through with your stroke. Think of it as a rubber band the further you stretch it the more snap it has. The further your bridge hand is away from the cue ball and/or how far you follow through the more action you will get on the cue ball.
Hey Drew. Practice running out 11 ball. Take ball in hand after the break if you can get out with less than 3 misses that's pretty good. Practice playing safeties if you can't get out. Plus when you are playing out in Vegas play the percentage shot also if you have position don't play for position.

Absolutely a double hit in the first match. He hit well below center and the cue ball moved forward. Granted, it did not move fast or "fly off" as you put it but it definitely moved forward
That’s awesome!!! So glad to hear this is helping someone!! 4-speed (to me) means you can make balls, and it’s a matter of controlling the rock now 💪🏼 I highly advise you to film yourself shooting 10 straight in shots and reviewing it with a high-level player and ask them to assess your stroke! Alot of either jab'n'jerk or that thing where he quickly raised up and the cue twisted off to the side (often accompanied by a one legged hop step 😆) To his credit tho, he did alot better than what you would expect for those kind of fundamentals! I'll agree with you that Ron's game looks better too 💪🏻 Good stroke and awareness on reading game situations. I think what he needs some work on is judging how much/little the OB is going to absord the energy from the CB when needing to move it. A few times he seemed to underestimate that a bit. Maybe a little bit on shot selection choices altho that was mostly good as well. Hard to tell if he's SL6 ready yet or not. That really seems to vary by regional differences and you have alot of experience shooting with and watching him, so I'll take your word for it on that one 😎💯

I would not have made a big deal of it, but would have reminded my opponent to not touch the cue in flight. Technically, it was a loss for the fellow, but my sense of sportmanship says the ball was not rolling fast enough to come close to a pocket.
A pro player would have lost. I think @georgepotter is right, a warning should be sufficient. Unless your league has a thing about strict following of the rules.
I see what you're saying about Ron's potential. Looking pretty good for only playing for a year in half. Looks like you're teaching him well and he isn't picking up the bad habbits that are so difficult to fix a few years down the line.
Thank you!!!!! Yes!! I take FULL credit!!!!! He’s been one of my best mates for almost 10 years now. Twisted him and few others arms to join a pool league with me. He’s a natural 💪🏼 would love to see him take it to the next level
As for the swerve shot, I would use bottom inside English and aim just to the right of the 9 ball with medium speed. This should allow for contact with the 2 ball and would allow rail contact also
One of my teammates' opponents swept the balls with their cue stick after making an early 9, but the cue ball eventually scratched. The balls that were swept wouldn't have interfered with the cue ball path, but the 9 was spotted, and we just had to all work together on where the rest of the balls were before. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING ON THE TABLE UNTIL EVERYTHING HAS STOPPED!
Oh these balls are clean! Its fine, I get you need to be confident in your ability to swerve if you’re doing it as your last shot in the rack! It’s just incredibly valuable, for this moment. That kick’s not a gimme… Thanks!!

Dude that’s fantastic!!! Let’s go man!! Those cards help me so much with runouts and getting a rhythm during practice, which I find very hard to do. Sounds like you’ll be ready for your next Master’s match dude 💪🏼💪🏼
howdy. You mentioned that you were trying to teach him technique of running the balls. In my early days of playing snooker, and then later when I was learing 8/9-ball I would watch the pro's playing but before they shot or addressed the table I would pause the video and then try to figure out what I would do in that situation (most people do the analysing after the fact), including what would be my next shot if successful and even what would me my next shot after that. Almost always without exception I was wrong. I realize that there are many ways to skin a cat in pool but if you study the pro's they will almost always manufacture the run in a specific, predictable, way. There's a reason for that. As I studied, my ability to 'read' the table and think like a pro got better and better and now, just about always, I can tell you what a good player will do several shots into the future. That is what a player who wants to progress should be aiming for , pardon the pun. However, and this is a BIG gripe I have with APA. Many players, there may be one in this video, will miss shots or take the wrong shot in order to maintain or affect their handicap. Sadly the structure of APA necessitates that to a degree. Most people look at missed balls as an indicator of sandbagging. Balls are missed for a whole wide spectrum of reasons so here's a technique for spottong a sandbagger, don't look at the missed ball, or even a 'accidentally' sunk ball in some cases. Instead of observing the ball that was missed observe the way the Cue-Ball was played, ie position/shape. IF a player misses a shot or seems to be trying to miss watch the way their cueball travels. If they didn't even attempt to play position the that is highly suspect. Not really relevant with a 2 or 3 but 4's and up should be able to play, or at least attempt, some kind of position. A sandbagger will just smack the cue-ball with no effort at position. @ 5:00 I am surprised that you are on the fence about the double-hit there. It was 100% no question at all a double-hit. Look at the way the Cueball travels. the way he hit that shot it should have been a stun shot (he hit slightly below center) and cue-ball should have stayed right there not run down the table. Maybe you're slightly biased but there is no way that wasn't a double-hit Toodles Re kicking, I know that I mentioned this but practice that mirror technique. It's a little work to get the feel for it but once you do you'll never miss a relatively routine kick again. Same for One-Bank bankshots.
Yeah, I was trying not to base a whole video on someone playing dirty 😬 however, happens too often with this guy… I don’t think he’s sandbagging. Egos are too big around here lol. Thanks for the input, as usual!!!
There are many ways to run a table, however 9/10 times you will choose the easiest way. And then as the shooter you have to decide the best way to do something. Sometimes the easier shot is the wrong choice because getting off that easy shot into the next shot could be near impossible, so you may elect to save the easy ball and take a shot at the hard ball now, because you weren't going to get on it anyway. And who knows? That easy ball might mess up your opponent when you miss. Of course 9Ball is different, you don't have a choice of which ball to shoot.
I go through all this work to try and make a nice video for the people and they both miss straight in shots to start it out…. I swear they do this to spite me, they really do 🫥🫥🫥
So you mentioned this in your game against Lee, but the second ball break doesn’t work out amazing for table spread and has a high chance of fail. If you’re teaching this person, I’d recommend teaching them a box break using bottom to allow for more options after break. Once they can run em, move forward to cut 2nd ball breaks.
Ron is progressing nicely, but its a big jump from a 5 to a 6. That extra game spotted makes a big difference. I guess i will have to work with Tim on his draw shots, i never noticed it before. Don't touch the cue ball even though it wasn't going anywhere, i told him after don't mess with it. the double hit was close if ron had a problem he should have called for eyes. Its easy for me to tell him what to do with a time out but execution is hard for everyone especially if you were thinking something else and you don't fully commit. they both missed a lot of shots and don't look for defense enough, but thats a 5. Tim is very streaky, some nights he hits everything. That was fun to watch.
23:31 For the "almost straight on" 6 ball that is slightly off the rail, I prefer to go rail-first. The cue ball after the hit acts like a cut and the player would likely need a slight draw to get some movement toward the 1 ball, but it does work.
Unnecessary rail-first shots scare me lol I mess them up too much! I give him grief here on that run out, but honestly almost ran the whole thing out!! Missed a simple 2-ball, likely worried about the cannon, but that turned into a few more innings 🫠
I noticed in rack 4 the opening shot couldve been the 4 in the top left corner (hard cut but makable) or the 6 in the side and bump the 9 out of the way which opens up the middle of the able for the cue ball to move
In the first rack, from the rule book page 18 subsection H defines a foul occurs when Altering the course of a moving cue ball including a double-hit. So technically stopping the cue after pocketing the 8 is a foul which a foul on the 8-ball should have been a loss of game. So Ron is correct to be agitated about him stopping the cue ball. Just my worthless two cents!
couple of years ago a buddy and I played once a week where at least one game was played entirely using a bridge. Every shot, you had to use a bridge. Only exception was if the cue was less than 2 inches off the rail.
That’s actually F-ing brilliant George. We’re totally gonna do this, bc my guys play almost solely on 7 foot tables, so they RARELY touch the bridge!! Thanks!!
@@drewvonporte we're also on 7 foot tables. But early on I felt like when I picked up a bridge that I was shaky at best and struggled on the simplest of shots. But, that taught me how to use a bridge in a steady manner, and how to use a bridge when shooting over the top of balls.
20:38 I think I would have tried a hard bank on the 15 with maybe a half tip follow to try to stay in that triangle for that 11. It would have been a tough go either way for an SL5, but better than a scratch...
I agree. Watching it back, I think the banks the call. It also has a chance to complicate Tim’s couple of solids down there if you leave it near the pocket! 🤌🏼🤌🏼
1:14:42 "You gotta send this all the way down". Absolutely! Good advice! I have players on my team that always think they can make the side pocket. I ask why not go for the bigger target, and I always get the same answer: "The side pocket is easier." Really? REALLY?
Haha for real. I always bring that up because that position is always interesting to me. You’re staring at a straight-in shot but instead you need to cut it 🤣🫠🤌🏼
@@coderz4life That's one of those things that seems to come from a lack of confidence in one's stroke, usually. I think the thinking is something like "less blue/green between OB and pocket=easier shot" but the equation is, of course, fatally flawed by not factoring in angle of the cut and amount of pocket available 😖
Know it is an older video however what both players may want to consider is not jumping on the first shot they see and walk the table each shot. Ron had many run outs and chose the wrong shot first. Neither player is standing back up when they shift their bridge or changing their position on the ball. Yet this is sort of the way in APA play. Get them into some real tournaments with all ball fouls and they will progress not only faster but at a much higher level of play. Not having to call shots and anything falls can be a crutch that hampers higher level play in my opinion. And the real thing is it isnt about who you play as you should only ever play the table. I often catch myself playing the player and not playing the table. Cannot empasize enough position play and safety. If you dont have a shot dont take a shot and leave the cueball in your opponents shot line. They will get there. Hopefully I will too eventually.
I agree with all of that!! Ron has been progressing. His pattern play has gotten better, to the point that hes running out (or getting close-to) more and more often. Ron’s a new dad, so his times limited to pretty much league night unfortunately…. But we will get him there!! Thank you for the feedback!! I can’t speak for Tim, he’s a problem child!! 🤣
Also in my area you can not be touching the rail with pocket marker or it’s a considered interference even if it doesn’t and it would either be ball in hand or a lose
Ron might miss some silly shots but his fundamentals are good. Always a bit cringe when you see higher levels flailing their bodies around, jumping up and stabbing at balls. Ron stays down 🔥
29:34 Tim probably needed to look at all opportunities here. He immediately saw the 1 ball and thought "combo". However, the 2 ball had an open cut to the upper left corner.
I don't understand what Ron was thinking at 53:50, he has such an easy easy EASY route by going 13 > 9 > 11 > 10 > 8. Cutting in the 9 first serves him no purpose moving forward with the rest of the pattern. Even if he did leave himself for the 13 he'd still have a difficult time getting to the 10 or 11 to finish the run. And yeah, definitely teach him how to kick 😂
Rich, you couldn’t be more right!! But you know what, pattern recognition ONLY gets better, as long as you’re paying attention. He has a 2 month old baby at home, he’s not getting a ton of repetition right now with patterns, but they will come! His fundamentals are good enough to keep him progressing 💪🏼 And someone else is gonna have to teach him to kick 🤣 I sure af can’t!!
APA is fun! It can be competitive, but its a team sport! Be ready to coach and root for the lower skill players on your team, they will be carrying the upper deck 💪🏼💪🏼 8-ball is rated from SL 2 - 7 9-ball is rated from SL 1 - 9
@@drewvonporte Sounds great to me! Appreciate the response, thank you. I just can’t wait to start playing pool more regularly. Not many players and tables here in the UK. 👍
@@drewvonporte The memory is better than the reality 🤣 Every English table has a roll, so it’s impossible to play slow shots and when you play fast shots, the knackered pockets won’t take them 🤣🤣
Yeah, we do not start playing till 5:00 p.m. Tuesday so I will be over there Monday once I arrive and then be there all day Tuesday till we start play at 5:00
In the last csi usapl/bca expo a friend of mine made the error of grabbing a moving cue ball after winning the game and it was given to his opponent. Rules are rules. Don't make a big deal unless its in a competition bigger than weekly league
Swerving is highly a feel shot it's not hard to do but it's hard to find the right amount of swerve you need to hit a ball, too soft you don't get around the obstacle. too hard and the ball goes too straight it's definitely something that requires practice to get a good feel for it. Ron has a lot of potential but he needs to work on his mechanics and basics Stance, bridge and stroke. Also needs to slow his pace down and take his time. Tell him to get a Buddy Hall Cue guide and put on a table at home on the number 2 and stroke every night 10-20 times and increase the number over time make sure it goes smooth through out the entire tube and not rub against it the more he does this better his stroke will get. That is something I would advise him to do.
He slows down any more than this, and the bar’s gonna close before they get to the hill 🤣🤣🤣 jk jk I think his fundamentals are more sound than most people in my league, personally! He’s getting better regularly. But I will def look into that Cue guide! Never heard of it!!
@@drewvonporte lol just at times I feel he's rushing the shot which caused him to miss the shot. I'm not a big fan of the bridge he uses but everyone is different. Stroke wise seen some poking not sure if it's because the shot calls for it or he has a tendency for it at times. I can't really see his stance so I'll leave that to you of course. The Buddy Hall is out of stock on Seyberts but it's about 18 dollars. Edit: seems to be out of stock at the moment, if I lived near you I'd loan you mine.
@3:56 he used top right but he should have used top left to get around the table. It was a double hit @5:15 whoever the captain of your team should have a standing rule if the cue ball it is within a ball call for someone to watch the shot. Touching a moving cue ball is a foul.
Agreed, he got a lil flat there and spin would’ve helped get him outta that corner! Yeah, I’ma have a heart to heart with our captain about this. It’s just preposterous, honestly…
1:19:00 There was no way Ron (?) was going to hold the cue ball for that 10. He is stroking on the rail, which is automatically a top spin shot. If he were to make the 13 shot, colliding the cue with the 15, putting him in decent shape for the other balls.
@@drewvonporte one of the strategies that I try to instill in my players is that if you feel you cannot make a shot, a decent safety will make it harder for your opponent. It is always better than selling out.
Thats true!! Even better, a 2-way shot. Which, if that’s the case, Tim played a good 2-way shot. I’m just still perplexed by the decision idk Thanks for all banter and feedback through this one dude, hope it was at least enjoyable!! 👊🏼💪🏼

considering there's pro's who have lost games by touching the cueball too early after making the winning shot, yeah I'd say he was in the wrong there. He even looked at it still rolling and everything before snatching it 🤣
I agree on this one 💯 I absolutely HATE when people do this and will call it pretty much every time. How far I'll go with it deoends on game importance and how new or experienced the player is.
@@drewvonporte Totally understand that, I wouldnt make a huge deal given the circumstances either. One of those situations where you just give a friendly shout to him after the game :)
To say Ron was “pleasantly pleased” when he immediately fouled right after this by shooting the wrong ball, would be an understatement 😅 Then ran the table out 💪🏼 justice served hot that rack
Talking about team Fargo’s. My team is 2500 and I know there are teams out there stronger than us!!! There was a team last year with 3 players at right around 700 and their weak player was a 660!!!
I love these videos, but I feel like there's a fair amount of dead time in the racks. People walking around, waiting, not rly doing anything. I think it could deffo make this a little easier to watch, and boost your view retention by a lot, which might make u a little more money. Either way I love what u guys are doing :)
Yeah these guys were taking their time tonight!!! I’ve sped some racks up in the past, with mixed reviews (at best) from the audience in doing that. I think the answer is simply being more selective on the matches I decide to post and create videos from. Picking the one that went 90 minutes (edited, mind you!) was possibly a questionable decision 😅😅 AND A TON MORE WORK FOR ME! Re: money earned HA, its peanuts. I spend 10 (this one more like 15-20) hours per video. Something like $0.50/hour pay 🤣 its just for fun. Thanks a ton for the feedback!!! I appreciate this!! 👊🏼👊🏼
I always hated APA rules, and then I see this video, and I have to question myself again on what the rules are. I thought that if a ball is made on the break, the player who broke is automatically that set whether there is a foul or not, unless one of each is made in which case the current shooter has choice.
I don’t get bent out of shape over technical rules like grappling a rolling cue ball. Is there some personal competition between Ron & Tim? Tell him to search Big Al swerve, he has a couple good videos .
Lol………. Anyways, yeah Big Al is growing on me! He has good advice. I think sometimes he assumes everyone has his professional level stroke haha but the info is solid!! I’ll check it out!
I probably would have swerved that shot depending on how much it had to curve. if the object ball was further away, i definitely would have swerved it. often you can just use english and not use masse it (dirty balls curve more ). masse is harder. just needs to practice it.
@@drewvonporte - i think most people hear swerve and think jacked up for a masse. which is hard. and a different shot. In my division i rarely see ppl just use serve to get around blockers - and then its mainly 7s. it is rare that it comes up though. dr dave has some great videos on doing that which is how i learned it.
To each their own!! I personally rate that as a little bit higher difficulty of a kick, since it’s center table and not near a rail… The swerve was only around a sliver of ball!!!
@@fugglesme4186 interesting!… Again, kicking a ball 1-rail in the center of the table [for me] is like, a few pegs higher in difficulty than swerving like 1/4 of a ball… Huh! That’s why I asked the audience!! 🤷🏻♂️
No tips or tricks to swerve. The only thing i can say is get familiar with your shaft and tip, because it makes a difference when you know how your specific shaft reacts to it. Other than that, inside spin, and elevation depending on how much swerve you need.
💯💯 I agree! He’s been playing for ~1.5 years, and only half of that with a good Low Deflection shaft (he shoots with the Predator Z3). I think his stroke is clean enough to learn to swerve 🤙🏼
If the cue ball is moving and you touch it like that it's technically a foul. That being said. The cue ball had no way of going in. It wouldn't have bothered me.
It's true, but you don't touch the cue ball. Until it stops. Whether or not it can go in the pocket, you have to be a professional at all times. Rules are Rules, you don't want to follow them, that's your problem, not mine.
Yeah leagues vary a little. Our league is fair amongst its own players regarding SL, so it’s not a problem in our bubble…. Just a problem when we get to vegas and a 3 break and runs on them 🤣🤣 We are a very small league so 🤷🏻♂️
never ever touch the cue ball, if its moving its live after the 8 ball hit just like it can't be touched at any time prior to the 8. rules are rules so it should of been a lose of game. if it wasn't touched there never is a question of IF.
You never touch a cue ball in motion. If it’s someone that does it regularly then the only way you get them to stop if play the rule they way it’s written and it’s a loss of game. I bet if that happens once or twice he will never touch a cue ball that’s moving ever again
@@drewvonporte the only reason I make my teams abide by all the rules is cause when we get in a tournament or make it to Vegas. I don’t want anyone to be surprised by a rule!!!
At 57:45 he should not have made the 10. Rolling it up for later and make him kick at the 2. If he hits it he breaks the mess up. Or you get ball in hand. Your guys never play enough safes.
Im +\- on whether to make the 10 first before the safe. Personally, I leave it, so I have options. And the safe he was going for was a lockup. The bigger error here was NOT getting the shape right for the lockup safe! He won the rack using defense, I ain’t mad about it 🤙🏼. Thanks for the feedback tho!!
I thought in APA you weren’t supposed to help teammates improve, otherwise you run into handicap issues and can’t play with friends anymore next season 😂

As for the swerve shot, I would use bottom inside English and aim just to the right of the 9 ball with medium speed. This should allow for contact with the 2 ball and would allow rail contact also
These are what APA 5's look like? Yeesh
Tall dark and handsome baby 🤌🏼
How I wish I had these opportunities to learn this game
One of my teammates' opponents swept the balls with their cue stick after making an early 9, but the cue ball eventually scratched. The balls that were swept wouldn't have interfered with the cue ball path, but the 9 was spotted, and we just had to all work together on where the rest of the balls were before. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING ON THE TABLE UNTIL EVERYTHING HAS STOPPED!
Good stuff!!
Thank you!!!
I like the Masse (swerve ) better than a kick but it would depend on the cloth. Clean balls help too.
Oh these balls are clean!
Its fine, I get you need to be confident in your ability to swerve if you’re doing it as your last shot in the rack! It’s just incredibly valuable, for this moment. That kick’s not a gimme…
Thanks!!
Been shooting amazing bro...have placed in the money in the last 4 tournaments I've played....although the masters league here only plays once a month...I haven't played masters since I last updated....I believe I'll be a 6 soon...I have a p a. 8 ball on Thurs and I'm one of 2 people above a 5 on my team....so I'm really trying to elevate the team this sesh.....that ks for the advice and videos ..I'll keep you posted...and good call on the flash cards bubba
...love em..
@@drewvonporte Egos! Big in Pool! Couldn't be!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
There are many ways to run a table, however 9/10 times you will choose the easiest way. And then as the shooter you have to decide the best way to do something. Sometimes the easier shot is the wrong choice because getting off that easy shot into the next shot could be near impossible, so you may elect to save the easy ball and take a shot at the hard ball now, because you weren't going to get on it anyway. And who knows? That easy ball might mess up your opponent when you miss. Of course 9Ball is different, you don't have a choice of which ball to shoot.
Nice match, my team will be in Vegas too, hope to see you there!
Awesome man! Say what’s up!! Good luck out there!!! 👊🏼👊🏼
LOL at "I should have skipped through the warm-ups" hahahahaha
I go through all this work to try and make a nice video for the people and they both miss straight in shots to start it out….
I swear they do this to spite me, they really do 🫥🫥🫥
So you mentioned this in your game against Lee, but the second ball break doesn’t work out amazing for table spread and has a high chance of fail. If you’re teaching this person, I’d recommend teaching them a box break using bottom to allow for more options after break. Once they can run em, move forward to cut 2nd ball breaks.
I like that. I, myself, can’t decide which break I use lol. I often switch it up if things dont work out idk…. I hate the clusters…
I swerve all the time. Often it’s much easier than a kick when the object ball is in the middle of the table
Thank you!!!!! That’s what I’ve been saying!! A kick in the middle of the table is difficult!! 💯💯💯
If these guys are 5's, I should probably be a 6 😅 use those coaches, especially in Vegas!! See you there 🎉
Everyone’s a critic 🤣🤣 thank you!!! Be sure to say hi if you see me stumbling around!!
@@drewvonporteshe’s probably a 3 😂😂
Ron is progressing nicely, but its a big jump from a 5 to a 6.
It’s true, he has his nights! Thanks man 👊🏼👊🏼
The double hit wasn’t close, it was VERY obvious😂😂
23:31 For the "almost straight on" 6 ball that is slightly off the rail, I prefer to go rail-first. The cue ball after the hit acts like a cut and the player would likely need a slight draw to get some movement toward the 1 ball, but it does work.
Unnecessary rail-first shots scare me lol I mess them up too much! I give him grief here on that run out, but honestly almost ran the whole thing out!!
Missed a simple 2-ball, likely worried about the cannon, but that turned into a few more innings 🫠
@@drewvonporte Yeah there's a risk for this shot, but it is something that can be practiced and add to one's repertoire.
I noticed in rack 4 the opening shot couldve been the 4 in the top left corner (hard cut but makable) or the 6 in the side and bump the 9 out of the way which opens up the middle of the able for the cue ball to move
I like that!
You are totally right!
Drew our team is going to vegas. I hope to see you there and play against you!
Let’s gooo!!! Def say what’s up if you see me Antonio!!! 👊🏼👊🏼 good luck out there!!
couple of years ago a buddy and I played once a week where at least one game was played entirely using a bridge.
💯
Wow! Strict bylaws 🤣
It’s a poker chip 🤷🏻♂️
Ron might miss some silly shots but his fundamentals are good. Always a bit cringe when you see higher levels flailing their bodies around, jumping up and stabbing at balls. Ron stays down 🔥
Agreed !! 🫡 You see what I’m saying. He’s on the right path, just a matter of consistency at this point 💪🏼💪🏼
Great game….Tim neats a new cuetip.
As we say in Dutch a “ pomerans “
Hey thanks!!! Glad you enjoyed it!! I’ll let him know 🤣
29:34 Tim probably needed to look at all opportunities here. He immediately saw the 1 ball and thought "combo". However, the 2 ball had an open cut to the upper left corner.
💯💯💯
His fundamentals are good enough to keep him progressing 💪🏼
And someone else is gonna have to teach him to kick 🤣 I sure af can’t!!
should there be an expectation of at least four balls run?
If I’m shooting, i would keep your expectation to 1-3 ball runouts… on a GOOD day
What’s the top apa rating? I’m moving to America and curious how to get into this please!
APA is fun! It can be competitive, but its a team sport! Be ready to coach and root for the lower skill players on your team, they will be carrying the upper deck 💪🏼💪🏼

It’s true. They are “must makes”… though I miss them sometimes myself 😪😅
In the last csi usapl/bca expo a friend of mine made the error of grabbing a moving cue ball after winning the game and it was given to his opponent. Rules are rules. Don't make a big deal unless its in a competition bigger than weekly league
💯💯💯
He slows down any more than this, and the bar’s gonna close before they get to the hill 🤣🤣🤣 jk jk
I think his fundamentals are more sound than most people in my league, personally!

@5:00 100% double hit. He hits the cue ball center ball and cue ball goes forward.
👀👀👀
@3:56 he used top right but he should have used top left to get around the table.
It was a double hit @5:15 whoever the captain of your team should have a standing rule if the cue ball it is within a ball call for someone to watch the shot.
Touching a moving cue ball is a foul.
Agreed, he got a lil flat there and spin would’ve helped get him outta that corner!
Yeah, I’ma have a heart to heart with our captain about this. It’s just preposterous, honestly…
@@drewvonportethe call is coming from inside the house
1:19:00 There was no way Ron (?) was going to hold the cue ball for that 10. He is stroking on the rail, which is automatically a top spin shot. If he were to make the 13 shot, colliding the cue with the 15, putting him in decent shape for the other balls.
…………. I think it could be held 😒…. It’s straight enough the cue ball loses all steam, just gotta hit it soft!!
More importantly: gotta make it 🤣
@@drewvonporteYeah I agree with you on this one, he was a good 3" off the rail and had plenty of room to hit below center here.
If the cue ball passed the halfway point on the 7 ball, it was a double cue.

Ha! Sure that too!… that’s a pretty elementary runout though cmaaan you really looking to safe?? 🤨🤣
@@drewvonporte one of the strategies that I try to instill in my players is that if you feel you cannot make a shot, a decent safety will make it harder for your opponent. It is always better than selling out.

I always hated APA rules, and then I see this video, and I have to question myself again on what the rules are. I thought that if a ball is made on the break, the player who broke is automatically that set whether there is a foul or not, unless one of each is made in which case the current shooter has choice.
🤣🤣 I get it man….
If there is a foul, still open 🤙🏼
Thank you 🙏🏼 finally someone sees my side of the coin haha! 👊🏼 for sure though, cheers
@@drewvonporte - i think most people hear swerve and think jacked up for a masse. which is hard. and a different shot. 27:00 Kick or Swerve? Kick is the most basic thing you can do in that situation. There were no blocking balls and probably had multiple routes...
To each their own!! I personally rate that as a little bit higher difficulty of a kick, since it’s center table and not near a rail…
The swerve was only around a sliver of ball!!!
@@drewvonporte Sure, one should always do what they are comfortable doing. I would probably only use a swerve as my last resort.
I'm with you man. No way I would masse over a simple 1 rail kick. Too many variables in a masse.
@@fugglesme4186 interesting!… Again, kicking a ball 1-rail in the center of the table [for me] is like, a few pegs higher in difficulty than swerving like 1/4 of a ball…
Huh! That’s why I asked the audience!! 🤷🏻♂️
A guy did this in our worlds on hill hill and it costed him the game cause he touched it and it was still moving
Oh 💯% in Vegas is this gonna be an issue!!!
I call foul he grabbed the cue ball while it was moving pretty good!!
I think 6 to side with bottom and shoot pocket weight ws right. He shot way to hard. If you shoot 5 less control on Qball
💯💯💯!!!
If the cue ball is moving and you touch it like that it's technically a foul. That being said. The cue ball had no way of going in. It wouldn't have bothered me.
Kind of my boat, whatevs lol. But then again, I also watch people double-hit the cue ball once a match too 🫠
It's true, but you don't touch the cue ball. Until it stops. Whether or not it can go in the pocket, you have to be a professional at all times. Rules are Rules, you don't want to follow them, that's your problem, not mine.
👆🏼 he’s got a point 🤨
Masse shots aren’t easy to control, especially at a level 4. Better to learn a kicking system
1 point for kicking…..
Overall, I agree. In this case, with a ball center table to hit, and only hidden by a sliver….. i masse 🤷🏻♂️
skill levels must be different in states, these guys should not be a 5 in Syracuse area they are maybe a high 3 low 4
Yeah leagues vary a little. Our league is fair amongst its own players regarding SL, so it’s not a problem in our bubble…. Just a problem when we get to vegas and a 3 break and runs on them 🤣🤣
We are a very small league so 🤷🏻♂️
Technically not swerve. It is a semi-masse.
Thank you for correcting me! 🤌🏼
never ever touch the cue ball, if its moving its live after the 8 ball hit just like it can't be touched at any time prior to the 8. rules are rules so it should of been a lose of game. if it wasn't touched there never is a question of IF.
Its true 💯
You never touch a cue ball in motion.
If it’s someone that does it regularly then the only way you get them to stop if play the rule they way it’s written and it’s a loss of game. I bet if that happens once or twice he will never touch a cue ball that’s moving ever again
