    Ron FTW! And yeah, the lines are helping a lot (I wouldn't get the shot ideas without them), thanks for the work you put into these.

    Ron, bro, hit some softer. If you miss you can leave yourself a duck and maybe a pocket blocker. Couple ball you chased all over. Thanks for sharing your match!

    Your videos inspired me to do some practice today. Was mostly running some 9 and 10-ball racks after I did a few drills, but because you commentate on 8-ball so much I decided to give it a go. I still prefer my rotation games, but it was a nice change. I might play some one-pocket this weekend.

    • @drewvonporte
      @drewvonporte  9 місяців тому +1

      8-ball just provides more opportunities for strategy, in my opinion. Even if you break and run, and run all 7 solids and the 8, performing a runout of 8 balls (compared to 9 and 10-ball), you have to do it with 5-6 blockers on the table.
      That concept itself makes it more interesting to me, not to mention your opponent is moving the blockers and likely sabotaging your run.
      But that’s my opinion! I love 1-pocket but not good enough at it to add any value with commentary…. Unless I just act as the clown 😂

      @@drewvonporte I think what I love about 9 ball and to some extent 10 ball is that it's so exciting and high stakes. You can pot all the balls but the last and if you miss it you're screwed. It can also end at any moment if you find a combination. 8 ball just feels a bit more forgiving at the beginning of a rack in that if you run out of position there's a good chance you'll find another ball to hit. I don't hate 8 ball, I love all pool games, but I think I will always prefer the rotation games.

    • @drewvonporte
      @drewvonporte  9 місяців тому +1

      This is true, forgiving, yes… but there are more decisions to make too! Oftentimes no 2 players would choose the same runout!
      But I digress, I love rotation too 🤙🏼🤙🏼

    the lines are a very nice touch. It also should be noted that you play on diamond tables, so super tight pockets

    30:57 here’s an APA 4 run out. Stop shot on the 10 in the right side. Give a good angle for the 12 to lead to the 14. Nice and soft for an angle on the 11. Then come out off the rail for the 8 in the side or harder for the 8 in the left corner. Boom 🎉

    There are shots that you are calling two way shots that simply aren’t. On one shot, the object ball hit the rail almost a full diamond from the pocket, cue ball tucks I. Nicely behind another ball for the safe. He didn’t look like so bad a shot to miss by that much. On another, short shot on the one to side pocket. One ball hits the rail about 2 full inches from the pocket, cue comes off the rail and stops behind another ball for the safe. Again, not a two way shot. It was a full on safety. On either shot had he aimed to give himself a chance at making the object ball the safe would have been off In terms of a possibility.
    Enjoy the videos though. I think I’ve subscribed.
    Favorite video, Morgan vs one of your guys :)

      You’re probably right, George. I’m still working on being a “commentator” or whatever you wanna call me (jackass is acceptable). Seeing it happen live, I don’t think in either of those instances I caught how far off the ball was from the pocket.
      Also doesn’t help that I’m constantly making a focus on Endgame 8-ball when you really need to choose your shots wisely to not leave them anything. At least that’s how the school of pool I’m in!
      Thanks for checking it out man! I like your feedback! Looking forward to the next one!

      @@drewvonporte I appreciate what your doing. I've edited quite a bit of video in my days and I know it's a lot of work. I very much enjoy watching these videos on youtube because you can learn something from every skill level. I'm a 6-5 so not the toppest of dogs out there skill wise, but I truly do love good defensive play. I always love playing against the guy that has the mindset of "I'm gonna make ball somehow", even when there's really no shot available. I'm thinking go ahead and pass up that ez defensive shot, whack at your ball and leave me something good to shoot at.
      Anyway, didn't mean my post as a negative, just an observation. Again, really appreciate the work that you put into these things and hope that you'll get to a point that UA-cam rewards you with some pocket money :)

      As is mentioned all over the comments of all of my channels, the ratings per league will vary some. I can attest that neither of them played particularly well here at all. And I’m not putting matches on YT specifically because they shot fantastic haha it is a random occurrence and when people allow me to film for our entertainment.
      Ron’s shooting a lot better than this these days, and still a 5! I’ll be releasing a new video of a recent match of his soon! I invite you to come check it out when it’s up and share possibly updated feedback!!
