It has come to my attention recently that this was not actually Sachio Ogawa’s work, but instead Masafumi Ogata. I’m assuming someone read Ogata’s last name and took it as Ogawa’s by mistake.
This is the one from the model 2 Mega CD in Europe, the model 1 had it similar to the American one but slightly different but same music, the Japanese model 1 just has "MEGA CD", and the model 2 Japanese model has it alot similar shown in the video but the Giant CD is replaced with Sonic the Hedgehog.
The Sega CD, the first time we had a compact disc on a Sega Console But the other Compact discs were The Motivation (2003), The Dreamcast (1998), and The Saturn (1994)
This music was used for the BIOS on the Japanese Wondermega (By both Victor and SEGA (SEGA's version had the mechanized CD door, but Victor's didn't.)) and the USA X'EYE (By JVC).
If there ever becomes a Sega CD for Nintendo Switch Online, there should be the option to have this on as the background music for the game selection menu....
Sega knows how to make a good BIOS screen theme; that is one of their strongest skills for sure. Not sure why, but it's giving me FM Towns Marty vibes.
@@totallynotchihirofujisaki4352 "Ahh... I really do like this BGM...(Short for BackGround Music)" "Thank you very much." I'm still learning, but that was the basic gist.
Even if we don’t, reverse engineering is very possible in todays age of gaming (most specifically with what happened to Super Mario 64 & Ocarina of Time). Who knows? Maybe someone out there on the internet is crafting the High Definition version of the MegaCD’s intro music as I write this!
@@Bigtimersh5 That's not what they meant; the "original samples" is the composition of the music before it was coded into the BIOS (think musical sheets or raw sound files).
Fun Fact: This was remixed for the Sega Ages menu/options background music for Nintendo Switch
Oh ye
TELL ME WHERE IS IT
I've heard it on Sega Ages and I was like wait this is the startup music of mega cd I can't believe it
I just realized that a few minutes ago when I opened Sonic 2 again and that’s why I’m here 😆
That’s actually really cool! Now I just wish we had this version in America.
Most beautiful BIOS music i ever heard (prior 2000s of course).

So calming, futuristic, and exciting. Love the music.
Saaaameeeee
I love this BIOS music! It's catchy and it's so zen
This music also play in sega ages for swich in the background.
Imagine sleeping through this
Me: goes directly to my bed to see if I can sleep through it
I could literally watch this for hours the music is so good as is all of segas boot up Dreamcast & Saturn

OK SEGA WE GET IT YOU CAN ANIMATE
In their defense, this was impressive at the time. Genesis couldn't do this as far as I'm aware

the music is identical though
cutemimi25 why do I find you everywhere on old videos I used to watch.
@@theobserver4214 I have my reasons...
It isn't the Model 2 Mega CD, it's the Multimega. On the Model 2 the version number is 2.00, and on the Mutimega, it is 2.21, like in the video.
version 2.2.1 is sega multimega/CDX
This is so angelic and harmony.
The theme is also used in JVC X'Eye and Victor Wondermega
This one sounds more heavenly compared to the American ones, those sound "epic"
While I think I prefer the US one, this is still spectacular
Nostalgic 🥺

Who eles just automatically starts to play sonic cd when they hear this mega cd start up music
Everyone I guess, you can’t play Sonic CD without going through the BIOS
Hehe **raises hand** i play it on computer because i dont have money to buy it (or i would buy it)
This music is... beautiful. I wish Sega of America used this instead of the music we got here. (well, the JVC X-Eye brought it to America, but oof)
Yes it is beautiful isn't it
Sure is :)
I dunno I kind of like the NTSC version more
@@mr.pendleton7121 Nah this version is better tbh.
@@TheOrangeMatty But pal on sonic 1 is slow so I prefer both

Plus the European and Japanese mega Cds got the same beautiful music. Get it
I think it's ironic for a CD based console to get its BIOS music pressed on a vinyl record today (true by the way!)
If there ever becomes a Sega CD for Nintendo Switch Online, there should be the option to have this on as the background music for the game selection menu....
version 2.2.1 is basically the startup for the Sega Multi Mega
this and space harrier for the master system bios are insane themes

The real question is, do we have the original samples for this? Cause then we could make a hi-fi restoration.
