I had a Genesis/Mega Drive with a Sega CD (it was a Model 2 and this music takes me back to that era) and also a Super NES. It was absolutely fantastic to buy a copy of Electronic Gaming Monthly and go the rental store to get some games for the weekend. The SEGA CD was amazing, I really enjoyed it. Games like Sonic CD, Silpheed, Jaguar XJ220, Final Fight CD were amazing but I seem to remember that Sol Feace was the pack-in game and even though it's average it has a special place in my heart. The FMV games were crap but I remember enjoying Sewer Shark and Road Avenger.

Compared to the games on the 16 bit, the Sega CD games were pretty garbage. Sonic CD was most notable because it was intended as a launch title and was the original sonic 2. Contra Hard Corps, X Men, Shining Force, and Vectorman are really hard to beat though. xD
General The Sega CD’s lineup of games was among more forgettable than actually terrible. Unfortunately, this and the 32X has so much potential because in concept, they most certainly aren’t bad accessories. Like I’m talking pretty ahead of their time. Alas, the CD game market wasn’t fully accepted until the PlayStation 1 came out, so I guess people thought this was an experimental accessory for what was to come.

Cobra Command, Dragon's Lair, and Space Ace were pretty awesome arcade conversions. Night Trap and Sewer Shark were good original titles. The Sega CD games that ran with the 32X adapter were even better.
People laughed about the 32X CD games not being any different. But the whole point was to take advantage of the thousands of colors available on the 32x, which made way better looking FMV. Most FMV with the limited pallete of the Genesis looked painfully grainy. But had it's own charm too I guess.

Born in 83, I remember some of the 80s and miss growing up in the 90s. It's a different feeling hearing this if you did than if you didn't. I should make this a ring tone.
This tune has a deep impact on me. I received Sega CD as a birthday gift January 1994, a few days after the Northridge earthquake had struck in California. The greater part of LA had shut down including schools so had to stay home during that time. Playing Sega CD gave me a bit of comfort during a traumatic period. I was much too young to process that feeling at the time, but I realize it as an adult.

This is the one I played Sonic CD on. It's classic ominous and powerful. The music and the background were just otherworldly. The sounds were obviously a step better from the Genesis and you knew it as soon as you heard this start up.

Props to the camera man and the band. They went to the moon and the camera man managed to film this in the sky and caught the Sega and Sega Cd logos flying around while the band of people made this banger at the same time.
To me, this is the best theme for all BIOS. I have a fun little story with mine. A girl was selling it for 20 bucks, the catch was, she had no idea if it worked because there was no adapter to test it out. I spent the night I got the unit to see if I had compatible adapters. I lost hope at one point. It turns out, my Super Famicom adapter worked. The video wasn’t on, but the system was connected to my stereo system. As soon as I heard the theme playing. I was overjoyed. Snatcher is my favourite game to play on Sega/MegaCD. I’m a huge Sonic fan, but I never quite liked Sonic CD as much as the original trilogy…
Can't defend the console since I haven't owned it but holy crap, I swear to you that there isn't a song that hypes me up to play as much as the Sega CD theme.
I’ll defend the SCD for as long as I own one. Its a really neat piece of hardware with a criminally underrated library. Try it on emulators, you’ll be surprised, even by some of the FVM stuff.

This was the model of Sega CD I had growing up. I used to sit here and listen to the music play. I genuinely believed that video games were going to go into a more animated pixel style, as opposed to the 3D polygon style that was growing in popularity at the time.
On a personal note, this is the type NBC would use in their promos around the late 1980s to early 1990s before they removed the Saturday Morning Cartoon block in 1992. That music would be awesome. What do you think?

I know I had a NA Sega CD prior to 1993, yet this is the BIOS music I remember. How is that possible? Never even heard Model 1 theme until today. Christmas of '92 I'm almost certain.
This demo shows off the extra Motorola 68000 processor, memory, and sound chip that's inside the Sega CD. The most powerful configuration is a Sega CD with the Sega 32X which added two more processors, memory, and even more sound. That's four processors, three video processors, three sound chips, and tons of memory.
Yeah that combo was pretty powerful at the time. Sadly only 6 games used both 32x/CD and not much more than 6 people could afford all 3 systems at once. 😅 And of course that trio was never close to taking advantage of all the extra processors. They basically just used the 32x to add more colors.

I really like Sega CD startup music. Also Japanese version(Mega CD), too. I think each of them has different characteristic and feelings.
The Japanese version is victorious and epic, while American is more chill and grooving. Both are great in my option.
The European mega drive bios has the same theme as the Japanese unit.

This takes me back to a time when everything was good in the world. If more people had a Sega CD, we would have world peace.
This demo shows off the extra Motorola 68000 processor, memory, and sound chip that's inside the Sega CD.
The most powerful configuration is a Sega CD with the Sega 32X which added two more processors, memory, and even more sound. That's four processors, three video processors, three sound chips, and tons of memory.
Yeah that combo was pretty powerful at the time. Sadly only 6 games used both 32x/CD and not much more than 6 people could afford all 3 systems at once. 😅 And of course that trio was never close to taking advantage of all the extra processors. They basically just used the 32x to add more colors.
