"Tragic Prince"… I never realized just how much I liked this song. When I was younger, Lost Painting was the song from Symphony of the Night for me. But looking back, Tragic Prince might actually be the most iconic track of all. But nothing beats the old PS1 startup screen. No matter which game you played the most on that system, you always had to sit through that iconic startup sequence first.
FF VIII was my first FF and I loved it! The songs were so good that I will never forget the OST! The landing song makes me wanna play it again x) And that ending with MGS... that brings something from the past!
ngl i played most of the title here in late 90s to early 2000s. what a nostalgic feel it was. Now games become so ridiculously realistic and complex. While modern title gives you best experience you can get... but you do occasionally miss the vibe of PS1 era. This is really the Square era of rpg.
If you mean the intro video for Chrono Cross. Then I soooo strongly agree. I would watch it again and again. Practically everytime I started up the Sony to play. The song still gives me chills
Flowers Blooming in the Church simply destroys my heart. How can a PS1 sound be so emotional ? I guess it has to do with the nostalgia and the feelings from the game's story, but it simply sounds so sad and nostalgic ! Of course this OST was used where it was used, it feels as if you've lost all sense of happiness and purpose, as if all inocense and silliness in the world just dissapeared. Nobuo Uematsu was a true genius during the SNES and PS1 era.

chrono cross, final fantasy 8 and legend of dragoon to this day are some of my favorite games ever. i will always be a 17 year old kid on summer vacation when i think of these games.
As a Survival Horror kid, the Resident Evil 2 Save Room track always gave me an anxiety release and feeling of safety lol. And the Silent Hill Theme will always get me going.
It was an era when game genres blossomed, offering a variety of fantasies, stories, and cultures to experience. But most of the games we can play today have nothing to offer beyound realistic graphics and non-sense correction.
It always blows my mind what componists back in the day were able to do with such limited ressources. Video games were still a niche and budgets weren't even close as high as today. When I hear the songs of Nobuo Uematsu it sends chills down my spines. Because they are not only extremely good for songs of games in that days, they are extemely outstanding in general. With FFVIII he really outstripped himself, that soundtrack is 100% perfection.
Yep, right in the beginning. Any time I hear Dark Souls 1 menu music my eyes just kinda glaze over lol. Some mega nostalgia there... Chrono Cross is good. If you like PS1 and/or turn-based you should have a good time with it. Vagrant Story is the PS1 game I always suggest to the Souls fan though. Can't recommend it enough.
@@egocide9034 Oh, and yes, I too get immediately taken back when I hear the DS1 music. That soundtrack is seared into my brain at this point. I wish I could experience DS1 for the first time again.
The tracks from Kileak: The DNA Imperative stand out most to me from my development with the PS1, it's tracks captured the essence of the individual environments. Tomba and Tomba 2 were sleepers with amazing soundtracks, enthralling in areas, driving in others. Brave Fencer Musashi needs no explanation. That one's tracks are legendary. Lastly, Psygnosis made some amazing games with some amazing tracks, Colony Wars, Shadow Master.. I hope my likes spark some love.
FF7 - flowers blooming in the church - I remember pausing the game to take a break after a hard session, and for some reason it was always this music. It would loop in the background and I'd just be at home just doing whatever, but still somehow connected to the FF7 world. I think that is part of what induced so much nostalgia.. I wasnt just playing the game, the game was printed into my life then.
Totally agree ! Never had such level of immersion in any other kind of narrative medium ! FF7 felt as if we all lived in this fantastic universe during the several days it took to complete the game (some other classic JRPGs were close, but none at this level).
The Xenogears track hits hard. It was the first RPG I played "on my own." No guides, no one playing it before me telling me where to go. It was such a pure gaming experience.
What games and songs would you like to see in a follow up video? Or what system would you like to see next???

"Tragic Prince"… I never realized just how much I liked this song. When I was younger, Lost Painting was the song from Symphony of the Night for me. But looking back, Tragic Prince might actually be the most iconic track of all. But nothing beats the old PS1 startup screen. No matter which game you played the most on that system, you always had to sit through that iconic startup sequence first.
FF VIII was my first FF and I loved it!
The songs were so good that I will never forget the OST! The landing song makes me wanna play it again x)
And that ending with MGS... that brings something from the past!
ngl i played most of the title here in late 90s to early 2000s. what a nostalgic feel it was. Now games become so ridiculously realistic and complex. While modern title gives you best experience you can get... but you do occasionally miss the vibe of PS1 era.
This is really the Square era of rpg.
i was in love with this video from the first song.
I'm glad you enjoyed it
If you mean the intro video for Chrono Cross.
That was a mistake in your grammar right and you don’t mean that he isn’t still a genius? Listen to the fantasian ost
I lost most of my happiness and purpose a long time ago
The loss of my innocence was terrible
What I wouldn't give to go back to those days again
The Wild Arms intro is just unbeatable.
Na próżno szukam w dzisiejszych grach, tego co zostało w moich wspomnieniach. Takie gry już nie wrócą. Od wielu lat próbuję znaleźć ta radość płynącą z grania. Dzięki za wstawkę, pozdrawiam.
So much good music! .. I used to play the Wild Arms opening on repeat, it was truly awesome!
I still remember how new and innovative the PS1 was when it was first launched
My brother and I received one each for Christmas along with demo disk 1 and the graphics just blew me away
Coming from the Commodore 64 and Mega Drive it was like stepping into the future
The good old days
Wow man you have some serious heavy hitters here. From Resident Evil save room to the awesome soundtrack that FF8 was. Loved the opening bass of that scene when the mission to Dollet starts. Seriously I found a new playlist to use while I’m grinding the day away at my desk. Great video my friend seriously
Thanks!! I love that scene too and it's exactly why I put it on here. I still remember the first time I did that dollet mission when I was a kid
@@AmateurGameReview oh absolutely I remember! I remember that scene was on a demo and I was instantly hooked way before it was released
PS1을 처음 했던 우리들은 어느새 40대 50대의 나이가 되었습니다. 같은 추억을 공유할 수 있어서 정말 좋네요.
Thank you so much for bringing back memories! 😭🖤
You had all the FFVIII to show one song. And you chose the best. Great mix.
Lol first part had me worried. Seriously though that game has some amazing tracks
When the first theme is chrono cross, you know it will just get better and better
The mellow jungle drum and bass from ape escape is just sublime😂
SO many good memories with the ps1 boot up sound. Thank you.
Ape Escape…. Man I remember going to my friends house and we’d play this all the time. It was hard back then! Great music.
Wild Arms.
The first game that I played for the PS1.
Hearing the main theme song was an absolute nostalgia bomb for me.😢
this sure was a trip down memory lane, thank you! unfortunatly i miss some of my greatest bangers: soul reaver, destruction derby 2 and c&c 1
Oh man, Crossing Those Hills… That theme always makes me tear up like a little wuss. Even though Final Fantasy VIII was my introduction to the series, FF9 and FFX will always be the pinnacle of Final Fantasy for me.
1996 i got ps1 and we stay long history for 10 yeas. I will never forget this songs They are part of our lives now. And we feels a small tasty of this pass hear those soundtracks. Ty for share .
Thank you for sharing your story
Ending with "The Best is Yet to Come" is perfect.
The Metal Gear Solid DEMO OST is still somethin' incredible

So many memories, glad I've still got my original Sony PlayStation.
Same here!!
This is tearing me up, I wanna go back to these times, when I could share playing games with my brother before he passed.
chrono cross, final fantasy 8 and legend of dragoon to this day are some of my favorite games ever. i will always be a 17 year old kid on summer vacation when i think of these games.
Beginning with Sony Bootscreen and ending with "The Best is Yet to Come" - this music compilation nails the PS1 feeling.
My goodness that Chrono Cross menu music is absolutely magical.
I never played Chrono Cross (something I need to fix), however the opening of that first song reminds me so much of the Dark Souls 1 menu music.
I'm about to go watch my own video just to see if you are right haha
@@AmateurGameReview Hahahaha. Well, it is a good video, so enjoy 😁
@@egocide9034 I have been wanting to pick up Chrono Cross on the Switch for sometime now, but the port seems to be sub-par unfortunately :(
@@egocide9034 Oh, and yes, I too get immediately taken back when I hear the DS1 music.
Metal Gear Solid 1, "the best is yet to come" is the best 🎉❤
Playstation start up and Ape Escape is classic! Love it! Glad to have experienced those times! Thanks for posting this!
I got nostalgia chills from a few of these gems. What an amazing time for games ❤
Grandia for sure was absolute peak in story telling and game play.
God damn.
The Xenogears track hits hard. It was the first RPG I played "on my own." No guides, no one playing it before me telling me where to go. It was such a pure gaming experience.
I didn't play it when I was younger unfortunately so I don't have those memories with it. Played it a few years ago though and it still holds up
What I noticed about these games that modern games don't have is a start menu. No game wants you to press start anymore and I feel that.
Huh. That's actually a pretty good point
30 years !
