Vegan Millet Cheesecake with Plum Compote | Nut-free, Soy-free & Gluten-free Cheesecake Recipe

  • ▶ Veganlovlie Recipes / Desserts: A creamy tangy vegan cheesecake recipe served with a delectable plum compote. This cheesecake is nut-free, soy-free and gluten-free. I used millet as the base ingredient. This proved out to be one of the best uses for millet, in my opinion, which provides a rather creamy neutral yet slightly nutty base for tangy flavours to transmute everything into a vegan cheesecake.

      Veganlovlie | Vegan Fusion-Mauritian Cooking It came out lovely! Our blender struggled with the millet a bit, so we ended up pushing the filling through a sieve after blending to help achieve a smooth texture. It came out super tasty and creamy!! Thanks so much for posting this awesome recipe! :)

      Why not go vegan? You'll be healthier and you'll be part of the solution to abolish the barbaric cruelty imposed on animals grown in factory farms and for a healthier planet for all mankind. 😍

    Omg, I've made this and it is sooo good, tastes even better than a "conventional" cheesecake. The only thing is that it didn't quite firm up in the middle, maybe I should have left it a bit longer in the oven

    Those are some gorgeous plums! And I totally approve of using them in cheesecake, because plum desserts are amazing and I don't see them nearly enough. Probably because we all eat them first.

    • @Veganlovlie
      @Veganlovlie  6 років тому

      We see peaches a lot in desserts but plums are just as good, lovely fragrance when cooked. I agree they are just too tempting to eat straightaway though. When I want to cook with them, I have to intentionally buy them for that purpose. lol! (✿◠‿◠)

    This is amazing! My stomach does not like the heavier cashew or other nut-based cheese cakes - so I am always happy to try out other alternatives. Thank you for this treat :) Can you make the coconut cream from coconut flakes like you would do for coconut milk just with a much higher coconut to water ratio? Would you then use only the solid parts that form on top of the liquid once refrigerated? Or using homemade coconut butter? I am trying to live zero waste as much as possible and the (full fat) coconut milk or cream is probably the only thing I cannot get in a bulk food grocery and have never attempted to make at home. Thank you for your wonderful work!

  • @hadarahbatyah

    Wow, this is such a creative idea! Never thought of using millet in this way. I’m definitely going to try this out with a persimmon compote :)
    Would using a mix of coconut cream and full fat coconut milk work in this recipe, or would the batter be too thick to work with?

    Ah this is what happened to the plums! This dessert looks amazing! I've always eaten my millet as a savoury dish. Never tried using it for making sweet stuffs. Might try to make this dessert, although I get a different millet here and it tends to have this bit of rancid smell to it :|

    • @Veganlovlie
      @Veganlovlie  6 років тому

      Ever since I found out I could use it to make cheesecakes, I've been making just that! lol Maybe if you soak the millet for a few hours and drain the water, it might get rid of some of the rancid smell.

    • @bliss_within6098
      @bliss_within6098 6 років тому

      I do usually soak them before cooking. While boiling they still give off that weird smell. But after I cook and mix in various spices, it's nice to eat afterwards. Yours are a different size too. Mine looks more like the regular couscous.

    Who woul've thought millet makes a cheesekake? I wonder if you could use it like polenta to make fries (by putting sticks of cut cooked polenta into the oven). What else do you use millet for? I bought some because I've learned that it has alkalizing minerals in it, when some other grains have minerals, that have an acic reaction with the body.

    • @Veganlovlie

      I'm not entirely sure. On the package it just says "natural millet". Judging by the look, it could either be proso or foxtail, though I'm not entirely sure.
