So I've made these today and looked up the measurements with the metric system. I used 260 grams of store bought dark flaxseed flour and 360 ml of boiling hot water. I later added a very little amount of the flour, since it was slightly too sticky. When the dough started to feel less sticky, I left it to cool for about 15-20 minutes. Then I started rolling out the flatbreads on a silicone mat with a silicone pin which I have, so I didn't need baking paper. I used about a small egg size of dough for each flatbread and ended up with a total of 10 pieces with a diameter of around 15-16 cm. I didn't bother to cut the edges. While baking, they tend to puff up a bit, but deflate when you remove them from the pan. I put them in a ziplock bag, with sheets of foil in between, cause I imagine they might stick together in the fridge from water condensating. I'm pretty sure this way I can also put them in the freezer for later use.
The consistency is too soft for pizza dough. But if you mix it with room temperature or cooler water you get a firmer dough which you can use for making pizza, I've done that before. Hope this helps some people.

Dear Petra! This recipe was something special to me...I'm so sorry for my poor knowledge of English and I'm not able to dicribe all the emotions which I have from making your recipes!
You know I used to make so different recipes from the Internet and not all of them were successfull..
What I like in your recipes is that I can rely on your taste, advice, that I can be sure about the result that it will be exactly as you say! And of course all your recipes are healthy and it is very important to me! They are vegan, without refined sugar, they are so interesting and various, so I'm glad I found you and now I can cook so amazing and healthy desserts and savory dishes as well!
So, about the flax seed wraps!
I became crazy how tasty they are and how simple you can make them! It's a heapthy alternative for wraps and it's so convinient the bring them with you for some trip, for hiking, for your flight, for train, everywhere and the filling may be so different! As savory, as sweet!
I made them from brown flax seed and filled them with avocado, rocket salad, lettuce salad, tomato, cheese and spring onions.
From now and on I'm going to make it for breakfast, lunch, for walk and for my flights :-)
The recipe is so good and so useful for me! Thank you, Petra!

If you don't have a High Speed Blender [like me], you can grind the Flax Seed into flour with a regular blender. Just work in small batches of no more than two cups and use a rubber spatula 'scrape' the sides of the blender and nudge the grinds back into the blade. This technique was done for decades in Compound Chemistry Labs [my background] before High-Speed Blenders existed. Coffee Grinders work beautifully too.

I tried it with broken brown flax seeds (that was all I had), but it staid way too moist and I could not transfer it to the pan. I just put them in the freezer and hope that will do the trick.
My meal did not look as fine as yours, no matter how long I blended, so I guess it is because they are broken in advance. What can I do about that next time? Add more seeds and lesd water or something else maybe?

Carbs are good, depends on the choice, like whole grain, sprouted, or seeded. High fat is not good, as it clogs arteries etc. However, good fats are best. Of course, everything in moderation. This recipe is certainly one of the better ones I've seen. Pretty tasty as a salad wrap too.

Sprouted flax seeds can form a mat that holds together. You can use the mats like crackers or bread. You can dip them in hummus. You can make little open face sandwiches.
    The taste is mild.
Sprouted versions are more nutritious. Same for chia and other seeds, plus legumes, brown rice (sweeter and chewier than unsprouted) and other grains.

Thank you so much. I'm definitely going to make these flax wraps. ( * Heads up for those who are trying to lose weight. Avocados are unusual among fruits because they are high in fat. They're higher in caloric density than other fruits and vegetables. About 150kcal per half an avocado, compared to 20kcal for a similar amount of broccoli or a small orange. This should be carefully weighed in one's consideration when losing weight is desired. If weight loss isn't an issue, consume as much you wish. ☺️)

It depends on how thin you grind your seeds, you will get the ratio with experience. I am grinding mine in coffee grinder and I use less than 1 cup of water (7/8th) for 1 cup of seeds (=2 cups of flour). When i used commercially ground flax meal i had 1 full cup of water, even more, to 2 cups of flour. Take hid of her suggestion of using parchment sheets for rolling out: i make these tortillas for 3 years already and this is the only way i can roll them out. Wax paper or cut up ziplock bag do not work for me. I also leave the dough to rest after mixing it with water for about 1 hour. After rolling out and lifting the sheet to cut out a shape slightly reminding a circle, i cover it with parchment again and flip on the other side, then pill off that sheet too. This way its easier to transfer tortilla to a pan. Good luck.

¡This is a miracle! I was looking for a tortilla keto recipe and ALL OF THEN contain almind flour, coconut flour, to much egg, xantan gum, psyllium... and others expensive ingredients.
This recipe IS PERFECT to keto diet. Only flaxseed, salt, and water.
After cook the tortilla, cut in triangles and toast or air friyer: perfect to chilaquiles, tortilla soup or nachos.
This recipe its very cheap because the flaxseed (careful: only blond flaxseed, the brown have a very very bitter flavor) cost (in México) 8 Us Dlls 1kg and other flours used to make keto tortillas cost $20-$25 Us Dlls 1kg.
Another tip: dry or toast the tortilla, grind and obtain ground bread to cook onion rings or chicken tenders or shrimp. Thanks forever.

They were easy to make (had to add a little more water with the brown seeds to make the dough ball), but they taste like, well, a mouth full of flax seeds (*surprise* I know) with a seedy-nutty, bitter, almost black-tea flavor. But it’s less noticeable the more ingredients you slather onto your wrap (hummus etc). Not sure yet if I’m a fan.

It is easy to buy ground flaxseeds but not the best for health. Once you grind flaxseed, they can stay in airtight inside the fridge and not on shelf for most 8-10 days. So buy Raw unroasted, then grind them in small qty., transfer into glass small bottle, air-tight lid, into the fridge & finish them within 8-10 days. Making them hot like the lady shows...... I would rather stay away but not my place to comment.

First off there is no way to get five small tortillas from this amount of dough. Watching your video a second time it appears that you used only half the dough for the tortilla in order to get it the required thickness. I had a terrible time getting it off the parchment paper. Once I got it in the heated pan it cooked good, but when I went to turn it over it broke in several pieces. So much for having a wrap. What might I be doing wrong?
