One of the best light weight SUV. I also own a 5 door Jimny the few things they could have improvised are fuel tank capacity, they could have given at least 60 litre capacity, gear shift indicator, and the turbo engine.

I have been driving a Suzuki 4WD since 1995. I never get tired of going up a track or beach and full-on off-road occasionally. My present is 12/2009 Jimny, my previous was SJ 413. Jimny is a really comfortable daily driver and weapon off-road. Just me and my Collie Dog and we love Suzuki. I am in the market for 4 doors now. Oh, I have been stuck in both occasionally and all I needed was a Man in another 4WD to muscle mine with me back in line and on track. 2 Men can muscle a Jimny out of trouble without winches, snatch straps, etc quite easily. even a 360 degree turn on sandy tracks and trails. I am in Queensland

Retail price in UAE is around 17k USD. In Kazakhstan 26k. Apparently the retail price in Germany is going to be in the ballpark of 35k USD, insane price policy!!!

I love my Manual Top Spec 5 Door Jimny. It is peppy enough. Narrow for the city and for trails. Lightweight. All the creature comforts. Good fun to drive this Naturally aspirated 1.5 engine. Excellent 4x4. Did some light rock climbing and trails with the stock tyres and found it perfectly adequate. The 5 door Jimny is simply a longer version of the 3 door one. And we are making them in India, selling them in India and exporting them to all Right Hand Drive Markets. The standards that the plant in India follows conform to the Japanese specifications of Quality and Processes. In India we dont get the 3 door sadly.

They say they will follow Japan’s specifications for quality and process but that won’t happen. Just look at India’s rap* problem. It’s socially acceptable to rap* women and you want us to believe that you will meet Japan’s quality control requirements?

I really wish they'd kept the rear seat design from the 3 door that just drop flat and are hard backed. the extra cargo space is more important than comfort. It's an off-roader, not a limo. That said you could just put in a mini drawer system to raise the boot floor a bit to keep it all nice and flat.

What true alternatives does the Jimny have? I'm talking about a compact true offroad 4WD? I can't really see any. Jimny owns it.

  • @ianweal3081

    Angus place?
If not, darn close to it.
Drove it (Angus Place) 4 weeks ago in Patrol, lots of bush pin striping in the narrow new growth section, hiding the old hardened fire damaged growth within it.
Guessing you never found that an issue in the Jimny though, haha.
We (son & I) had a Suzuki Sierra many years ago, it just relished on those closed in tracks.
    It was a beast.
    Ah, the good old days.

Got a couple of questions.Love the videos by the way.
#1 which in your opinion do you think is the better Jimny. The long wheel base or the short wheel base.
#2 taking price into account what do you think is the better buy? The long wheel base Jimny or paying a little more and getting the Mahindra Scorpio?

Hi all, after some info. I’m looking at buying the 5 door XL ,so chatting to the dealer in the yard I was looking at the chiffon ivory,he happened to mention this was “about $700” more with the black roof compared to the Jungle Green ,no black roof, does this sound correct or was he already jacking up the price. I can see nowhere were it mentioned this in any reviews. Cheers guys.

    • @Drivecomau

Based on Suzuki's list prices, White is the only colour available at not extra cost. Jungle Green, Granite Grey, Bluish Black Pearl and Arctic While Pearl single-tone paint is an additional $695, while Sizzling Red and Chiffon Ivory (both with a Blush Black roof) attrack a $1295 surchage - before on road costs.

Back in India, where this is manufactured, it is altogether a different story.
Monthly sales have dipped to less than 500 units while competitor Mahindra Thar manages to sell 5000-6000 units a month. And Thar is 3 door available in RWD n 4x4 options.
In December last year Suzuki had offered good discount and that is when people bought few thousand units.
In my city there are just 3 Jimny and one of them is with me 🙃
