@ForkInTheButt people tend to forget considering the purpose of their rig. While short base might be beneficial in some situations it might become a disadvantage in others. Love the Jimmy! I wish it was readily available here In the States. I don’t need anything fancy or expensive, just capable. Reminds me of a Jeep in profile.
Little ‘Zukes from decades ago were a blast on trails. This new one looks very promising. Really happy you didn’t add the bumper & winch. Too much weight! Also, thank you Simon for exiting to give that little engine more of a chance to climb the trail.
Thanks for a very nice video! Well done! ❤️ As a Gen4 Jimny owner with 225/70R15 AT’s (it’s my daily driver) I’ll change the standard shocks to ARB’s OM EMU or the BP51’s, but I don’t want to change springs because I’m happy with them as the are. - But before changing the shocks I’ll add automatic diff-lockers from Kaiser. (Kaiser’s main business is making diff-lockers for tractors & trucks. Kaiser is from Brazil, and the design/engineering is more advanced than the ones from Powertrax/LockRight.) I will order a Kaiser’s rear locker at the end of July 2022, and a front one in December. - Why diff-lockers you may ask. Because Suzukis AllGripPro is way to slow to react/engage. When other brands only needs a few minutes of a full turn to engage, Suzuki needs 4-5 full turns (hours) if you see the wheel as a clock. Suzy’s slow engagement is so slow you’ll lose any/all the momentum you had before it engages. Yes, the AllGrip is better than an open diff, but one or two diff-locker/-s is way better. That’s why. As I have chosen the Kaiser as my best option, I dare to say the Kaiser lockers will transform the Jimny from a very capable 4x4 to a mountain goat. And for a way cheaper price than the best lockers from ARB.
yes great feedback and you are not wrong about the lockers, they make an already good 4x4 into a mountain goat! But from the side of experience, we would never touch auto lockers and the extra price for the Air Locker is worth it for that 100% confidence that it is actually either 100% in or out. Auto lockers are fighting themselves whether you are on or off road and we have seen the springs, clutch plates and other parts fail many times. Not that the air locker is perfect either 😂 but it is just our choice from decades of hardcore off roading and touring in some of the world's toughest regions.
@@4WDTV Well, it’s obvious we have different experiences. Meaning, I haven’t done your hardcore off-roading, ie I’ve done more of the soft core kind. And I still do, I guess. Yes, the air-locker from ARB is still the best one - but the price is way out of my league. (My government/wife would demand a divorce if I’d buy the ARB’s!) So the Kaiser ones are still my best option. Talking about price paid, one ARB air locker is ~US$2200 + the cost of the air compressor, while the Kaiser one is less than US$1000 installation included. This is why I favor the Kaiser one. I disagree with your opinion of 100% in/out. My experience from the Powertrax/LockRight is that they worked very well, as expected during the 5 yearI had it in the rear of my Gen3 Jimny. I never had any negative issues with them at all. On the contrary it was nothing but awesome. As the Kaiser ones are better engineered/designed compared to the LockRight I expect them to be even better. Time will tell if I’m right - or wrong.
To all of you as my friend my comment is not to hurt anybody am also a logging truck driver am 69 years old, my point of view is in road climbing avoid changing gear while climbing, always maintain your engine in high don't let the power of your engine subside to low power, skills and technique important in road climbing especially on high peak mountains.
oh of course. We love to hear everyone's opinions. When driving in very technical situations with manual 4x4s, sometimes you have no choice but to change gears. It's always best to avoid it as you say, but sometimes it is not possible. It's best to drive to the conditions and no one rule is right for every driver in every vehicle in every situation.
A not so fun fact: current Jimny has been around for 2years in Japan, and the waiting list is still 18 months long. Be patient if you're planning on getting one.
Did you know Jimnys front and rear axelhousing (front of diffhousing) is very thinn? No problem to put deep dents in it as such rocky sections.I would weld "pumpkins" (rock protective cups) to the housing, every "bolt on cups"doesent realy work for me in the rocks.Next tuning step lower gearing .
lockers and gearing would have made a massive difference but at the time of filming they were not available plus they did not fit into the budget. They have since been fitted though.

Now its like that: 2" EFS lift, M/T tires (original size - bigger is not allowed sadly), front and rear axle, radius arms and transfer case guards, rock sliders, cut the front bumper to a half size and installed towing points, disconnected the front sway bar completely and of course - a rear electric locker. This car is so much capable stock but now I go almost anywhere. I couldnt help but notice that you were in Low range, but somtimes it seems like the traction control kicked in, did you engage it even though it gets cancelled in Low range? or is it just momentum and grip playing a part? Because I can see some tough terrain there that would leave your wheels spinning if you are not locked, but you kept going up... Im still wondering how :)
It was just the traction of the rocks and tyres combining, no traction control. That is a very tough section of track. It was a lot of fun and a bit tough with the standard gearing.
@@cthaeh3936 Hey sorry my comments were in my spam mail somehow. It has in the auto gearbox D, 3, 2, and L (which is 1st gear). If you stick the shift lever in one of those, it won't go up in gear unless you move it yourself. I do have rear locker because for the stuff I do it is sometimes very helpful to come slower to the obstacle and not break your car with momentum just to climb up. I have managed to go places with right technique and a good spotter without the locker but for some stuff you just need one, at least rear.
Owned Suzuki's for 35 years , uncle in law has 3 two strokes, one from new, one of the 1st brought into Australia...Just need tyres, and wheels if you're a spendthrift.
Amazing video! Congratulations on such a good job, I love the comparison of stock vs modified, I will take into consideration the modifications that made to the jimny if I ever have it 🙌🏼👏🏼
Great performance by the Jimny, both stock and modified version. It showed an amazing and capable climb up the trail. How did the modified Jimny handle on the tarmac after the trail? Was there a great degree of body roll?
Nice video. You guys are so lucky to have such easy access to such awesome terrain! Thanks for sharing. How are you finding the gearing on the Jimny with the relatively big 30.9.50 tyres? Has it killed the crawl speed? I found even 215/75R15 All Terrains heavily impacted road road performance (acceleration) on mine.
I think the Jimny certainly needs a lower low range even with standard size tyres, not much low down torque and engine breaking could be a lot better, still looking for details.
Hi! I loved the video. I would like to know all the information regarding the changes you made to the suspension. What parts were changed, what size and brand. In my country I don't get them so I need all the information to bring the parts and not miss anything. Thank you very much!

5 minutes in, I'm astonished that he got as far with such a defeatist attitude - not someone that I'd like to represent a brand. Also, it doesn't bode well when a dealer mispronounces the name of a product: It's not Jiminy, it's Jimny. All that being said, the modifications to the Jimny were spot-on and clearly effective. Ironically, as a Suzuki Jimny owner, I now want to swop it for a Iveco...
There are no dealers in this video and no opine representing the Suzuki brand. It is just a Suzuki fan and there is probably no one else in Australia that knows as much about Suzuki 4x4s...he is just excited 😉
Wish they sold that little Toy in the US. It has so much potential and is cheap! Yeah my Jeep Rubicon with 38 inch tires and $50,000.00 in upgrades would roll up that joke of obstacle road without much strain. But that Toy I think could outdo my expensive rig with the right mods on certain trails and be more fun for a lot less cash.
That's one of the toughest tracks in our area and it eats cruisers and patrols on 35s but yes, a Jeep with lockers on 37s or bigger would do well. We have strict laws limiting tyre size here. The Jimny is great little beast.
Doctored to some extent making the stock Jimny intentionally fail much earlier when he could have backed up a little bit and tried again, but still this car is fantastic
no not at all. We pulled out when we had reached the safe limits of what the vehicle was capable of. No point pushing beyond the point of breaking things.
As a Toyota fan boy and very moded hilux driver i have to say the jimny is a “proper” off roader. Extremely capable and a lot of fun, good job

It was just the traction of the rocks and tyres combining, no traction control. That is a very tough section of track. It was a lot of fun and a bit tough with the standard gearing.
How is its gearbox performance does it gear up while you want to climb at gear 1 or 2? And does it need differential lock?
Wow, please send some photos to our Facebook page, we would love to feature it!!!
That outback takes out a lot of tires, better have 2-3 spares, aye nye ! There goes another.
Amazing video! Congratulations on such a good job, I love the comparison of stock vs modified, I will take into consideration the modifications that made to the jimny if I ever have it 🙌🏼👏🏼
The mountain goat of the automotive world.
they are very tough and capable.
Love it!!! Can you tell my the modification & specs you put. I want to have it in my jimny
They are all; listed in the video but there are newer things added now so best to contact Alan at Seriously Suzi for the full specs.
I really wanted to go for a walk , it looks very good
GREAT video.
REALLY REALLY Enjoyed it.
10/10.
THANK You.
Very welcome! Please subscribe and check out more of our videos.
Love these little things. Too bad we can’t get our hands on these in Canada or I would be in line to grab one.
Definitely popular and capable.
Great performance by the Jimny, both stock and modified version. It showed an amazing and capable climb up the trail.
How did the modified Jimny handle on the tarmac after the trail? Was there a great degree of body roll?
Was definitely fun making this one!
Nice video. You guys are so lucky to have such easy access to such awesome terrain! Thanks for sharing. How are you finding the gearing on the Jimny with the relatively big 30.9.50 tyres? Has it killed the crawl speed? I found even 215/75R15 All Terrains heavily impacted road road performance (acceleration) on mine.
yes way over geared. Definitely needs crawler gears but still it is so capable for a small inexpensive unit (comparatively).
I think the Jimny certainly needs a lower low range even with standard size tyres, not much low down torque and engine breaking could be a lot better, still looking for details.
This is what I was wondering too.
Hi! I loved the video. I would like to know all the information regarding the changes you made to the suspension.
What parts were changed, what size and brand. In my country I don't get them so I need all the information to bring the parts and not miss anything.
Thank you very much!
Thank you. If you contact Alan at Seriously Suzuki he can provide a full list of exact parts for you and can ship them to you. facebook.com/seriouslysuzi
Thanking you for your Expert advice on 23inch 29 inch Knobby Tyres for any trye that is just reminds me for my fathers and my town in new Zealand top of The Northland from Auckland city Grafton Road Zest o.k... my Remembrance for my Suzuki Kai-Tyre...
We love NZ - northland 4x4!
One of the best Jimmy off road video 👍
Bloody magical these Jimmnys.
Kicks any car's ass out there.
Jimny is everyone's favorite. Even people who owns supercars, they still add jimny in their garage
haha, yes indeed!
The suzuki is just insane
they are a lot of fun!!!
Thank you for the incredible video demonstrating de valiant Jimmy! Cheers!
You are very welcome!
Tires and a rear locker are the first mods anyone should make.
In most cases yes but when we filmed this, lockers were not available for it!
This 4x4 is AMAZING.
Put a diff lock on that thing and it becomes a micro Rubicon
front and rear lockers turn these things into animals!!!
My first time visiting your channel.
Was your IVECO car' suspension etc ... fully modified by your own team?
that is impressive offroad capability and I have never seen this look of IVECO before.
I have seen only a Van type of IVECO tbh.
(a good year for 2021 to take us out of the covid 19 pandemic!) I in Italy and Florence have a Jimny with an all original 2001 m13a petrol engine with only 4 reconstructed mud Terrain tires of the Ovada elite Trakker MT pneos in size 205- 70-15 I use it in off-road vehicles and I go there for country and forest dirt tracks used by lumberjacks to take the wood out of the woods with forestry agricultural tractors!
Stay safe my friend!
@@4WDTV hello watch my videos in my you tube channel and I have several videos where I do off-road with my original Jimny and then there is a video with a prepared Jimny and an off-road galloper and if you like videos write a nice comment if you like my Jimny off-road in Italy Florence!
excelente video. felicitaciones a ambos desde Argentina!!!
Thank you!
@@4WDTV 👍🙋🏻♂️
A set of Gleeson Torsen diffs and you are over the top of the mountain !
Can't wait till the Jimny is available again
Really enjoyed it! May I pls have the Wheels & Tyre size on your Jimny last test.
It was fun watching Jimny in action. I just felt that your modified tyres had too much air pressure in it.
Great video Simon wish we could get those jimneys in the states
Too true Owen, they are little rippers!
you got to take all the keys off your key ring except for one... I have to do that in my Jeep otherwise I'm just slapping the dash....
it's better for recording audio inside the car as well👌
1.5 hour from Melbourne ? You are so lucky over there with all the off road tracks !
Good little car wont trade it in for my wrangler but wont mine buying a used one. Too bad its not sold in the states.
I think a lot in the US want it!
What tire size did you guys put in on attempt #2? And is that tire size the biggest with stock suspension? Thank you!
I just loved to watch content like this. I loved 4x4 but can't afford one... One day.... New sub here.
Excellent video guys.
Thank you!
Parabéns. Ótimo vídeo, o Jimny é incrível.
Awesome video guys, I might have to try this over here in New Zealand.
No problem for a jimny and a good driver!
It's a tough hill but he made it with a good drive and some simple accessories.
wow! Big heart for a small 4x4
Good day. Awesome video. What size lift did you go for to fit the 30s. I’m currently fitting tough dog 80mm lift and looking at 30s or 31s with stock bumpers. Any advice
Best to contact Alan from Seriously Suzi as he did all of the work.
Such an awesome little machine better than a landrover! 🤪
hahah, no argument!
very nice.
Thank you!
The Jimny is all great but still, the Iveco is special, also in price.
The Iveco works out about the same as a Landcruiser but with some advantages.
Fantastic little Jimny ! 👍🏻
what are the tyres specs?
Where are the rock sliders from? Great video!
The only 3 add on for your jimny is off road tires, led light, diff lock and you will have the perfect little off road car
that's not bad but changing the gearing in the transfer case is a good one also. It all depends on the sort of driving you will be doing.
Sad these aren't in the American market but that thing is awsome 👌
We have had a lot of these comments, it would be popular!
Doctored to some extent making the stock Jimny intentionally fail much earlier when he could have backed up a little bit and tried again, but still this car is fantastic
no not at all. We pulled out when we had reached the safe limits of what the vehicle was capable of. No point pushing beyond the point of breaking things.
pushing harder would have been irresponsible and unethical based on possible damage to the vehicle and track.
Cool 😎
How about holden commodore wagon 4x4?
We don't see many of those anymore.
That’s quite a little capable 4x4
we love them!!!
Did Alan own piranha off-road in Boronia? I’m pretty sure he bought my Suzuki Sierra comp car back in 2009
Yes Alan was the owner of Piranha. He recently sold it, just over a year ago and now he has a Suzuki shop out the back.
All those air pressure measurements, are thy done on cold or wormed up tires?
Medium to cold
