    I put on the same snorkel and found it rubbed on the A pillar as well i put a overlapped layer of thick rubber tape between them and it fixed the problem perfectly

    For me the favourite interior mod I have done is upgrading the front speakers and adding the rear speakers. Other than that, the thing that bolts on under the door pulls to make it a pocket good for holding wallets or phones or whatever when driving.

    I had same issue with snorkel when converting to snorkel stainless pipe connector. I tightened down all bolts (did not fix it). What worked is installing rubber pads where the snorkel meets the fender (not the windshield pillar) to stop the rattle. For the pillar I use industrial velcro pads to secure the top of snorkel to the windshield pillar.

    Great 1 year review. I've owned an XL 5 door for about 6 months now and I love it, despite all its qwerks. The only other annoyance I have from what you've outlined is all the rattles inside. When you're revving about 3000 rpm windows (when partially open) and dash rattle. Not sure if you have the same issue? Apart from that no issues. I plan on doing a lift soon also. Snorkel I'm undecided. I like the stainless ones from Fab Fabrications or Meredith Metalworks but they are pricey.

    • @LowRangeNick
      @LowRangeNick  Місяць тому

      @spirro78 That's awesome! I was thinking the 5 door must be a little bit better on the highway than the short wheelbase ? How does it perform on those rougher roads at highway speeds? There is definately a few rattles going on. I usually have music going so doesn't bother me too much haha awesome little 4bys 🙂

    Thanks for the review. I'm purchasing an XL my other 4WD is a 2015 Land Rover Defender so I'm used to those little things that make the vehicle unique. I've opted for an Auto as mine will be mostly my daily drive. I travel some pretty potholed roads to work so the Jimny was the right choice for a daily drive.

    shocked with the issues youve had with the no driill snorkel. has to be mine fave mod so far, installed it within 2 hours, and ive had no problem with rattling or anything. it is the V3 version though so maybe that could help. but yea improved fuel economy and a noticable slightly zappier car.

      The thing is you get a few different version of those, you probably have the proper one, and I think Nick was unlucky enough to buy the knock-off version, I see them on our local online retailers here in South Africa too, You need to spend a bit of time and buy the little more expensive and proper one, It has zero issues and works a treat.

    Had the same problem with mega jimny snorkel used nano double sided waterproof tape on the pillar and swapped the stainless steel pipe, which looks great but I could not stop it hitting the bonnet particularly on start up and shutting down when engine seems to move alot with some flexable intake pipe and a reducing silicone on the airbox am now very pleased with it

    What's the caster like after the lift mate? My pet hate on any 4wd is wandering steering at high speed. Would be cool if Superior did some radius arms for Jimny (they will always be Sierras to me 😉)

    • @LowRangeNick
      @LowRangeNick  Місяць тому

      @intimatespearfisher The caster is good because when I did the lift kit, I pressed in some 2 degree caster Bushes to the control arms. There is a couple of companies that do the castor corrected arms but I think they are usually for bigger then 2 inch lifts.

    Hi Nick , I had a 2007 Jimny and drove it all over the high country here in Victoria and did the Simpson and lots of outback trips 1000’s of kilometres it was a great little vehicle. I just wanted to ask about your Izuzu. I don’t have any friends who own one to ask. I want to buy a 2016/17 Dmax . I wondered if you still feel happy with yours, I’ve watched your videos on the few problems but overall has it been reliable now the bugs are ironed out so to speak and would you still buy another one . I’ve got 25 k to spend on a 2WD Ute and they seem to be the lesser of 4 evils. Thanks for posting your great videos.

OK even as a business I just could not get excited enough to fit lights or filters or speak on TV give me a Porsche 911 turbo or a land cruiser or anything that has a decent engine had some clearance. Maybe at your age I could get into it. Its not nice getting old.
