I was fortunate to see Zeppelin five times… in 1972, 1973, 1975 and 1977. And I was at the iconic Madison Square Garden shows in 1973 that were in the film… First and foremost Zeppelin always was about having fun. And for them having fun was never playing anything the same way twice, constantly exploring and improvising. Their creativity was mind blowing and their various styles and genres are a testament to all of the different types of music they loved. More Zeppelin reactions Millie, please!!!
Well said Millie, I DJ on some weekends and am amazed at how many people your age request Zeppelin, I'm glad you like them as we will never see another band like them, all the best!
When I was about 11 years old, my aunt won 4 tickets and backstage passes to the Beatles concert at the Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston. After the boring concert (I couldn't even hear them the girls were screaming so loud!) we were escorted into a hallway and pretty soon the Beatles were walking toward us. As they passed John Lennon stopped, tussled my hair, and asked if I liked their music. Being a well raised, southern farm boy I just said "Yes, sir" to be polite. He smiled and kept going. It all happened in the span of about 3 seconds and at the time meant little to me. It was only later... Be well, Be happy! Duke :)
Nice thing about Led Zeppelin is that the songs definitely don't lend themselves well to sing-alongs, and the songs were so much there for the audience that people didn't shriek at the band like those kids did to the Beatles. I never saw LZ live, and have lived to regret that very much. The fact that there is so much "live" LZ music attests to that fact. No audience interference. The Beatles contrast is interesting and significant, I think. I've always had the opinion that's I'd never have enjoyed a Beatles concert, precisely because of the noise from the screaming teenie-boppers. I notice something similar, back when Grace Vanderwall still had her mojo (she lost her groove when her family moved to California and hasn't gotten it back) - all the people in the audience knew her songs by heart and felt free to join in, which she seemed to encourage. I'd have asked for my money back, if I'd gone (I didn't try, forewarned by the videos), because I'd paid to hear Grace, not the out-of-tune rank amateurs in the crowd around me. But the Beatles were something else - the shrieking and screaming were deafening. I guess that the sound from the instruments and mics had to have been fed directly into the recording equipment - I doubt very much that mics trying to pick up the ambient sound would have maxed out from all the noise. I mean, is there even a "live" Beatles' album anywhere? I don't recall one.
I would say that between 1965-1975 this ten year period might be the greatest decade in music ever. The bands that were coming out and some were at the height of their powers was just breathtaking and most of them were legendary bands. Just an amazing decade.
Very astute statements about Zep, young lady. Bravo. The band formed in 68. By Jan 69 they released their debut album which is incredible. At some point the start touring. Before the end of the year, Zep II came out and it is also incredible. I believe in 1970 they did the same thing- release 2 more albums! This concert greatness we just watched together was during their 2nd/3rd year playing together. They were so in sync with each other that when someone goes a certain way, the rest of the guys can follow like nothing. The recording studio was simply a concert with no audience for these guys. Idk if they did, or how many songs were recorded in 1 or 2 takes but I wouldn't doubt these guys could walk in and 20 minutes later, a new song was complete. Great reaction, Millie. You should DEF check out the entire show, (with us of course) 😊 God bless. ✌🏼❤
Actually seeing them live was for me a life altering experience they were just out of this world. They were so different, so talented it should not be possible.
LZ were so great when live and loud! This track of course became famous as the intro for TOTPs for years. Masters of doing live versions of what is a masterful studio recording and making it sound even better! Just imagine if you could time travel Millie and see these guys live 50 years ago. We might have met 🤣 Or maybe we have?
If possible, you also need to see this song live from MSG 1973. Completely different with an extended jam session! One of the greatest performances ever recorded!
I seen Zeppelin in 1975 and again in 1977 and they are so in sync that you are correct they don’t do the same song the same way except for maybe Stairway but even Robert Plant will through in comments while singing the song. Also, Jimmy Page live is a rock god his guitar seems to talk and no I wasn’t tripping.
The whole performance is amazing but John Bonham’s drumming is insane! Fun fact, Robert Plant comes from a town here in England very close to where live. 🙂
Im glad you truly recognize and appreciate that this was done and performed 60 years ago. Back in the day, Bands made $ by selling albums and then touring live concerts. A 3 minute song you heard on the radio was a 10 minute song live in concert. Bands had the freedom to perform however they wanted live in concert. Sometimes it was the best stuff! Enjoy!
I do believe that one should hear the studio version before the live versions. That way you can hear the original idea before the band gets jaded by playing it so often.
Robert Plant was one of the great improvisational rock vocalists. The band had to constantly be in the moment to follow along with him and that's how they developed such great chemistry/sync. Jim Morrison and The Doors had a similar dynamic.
Them staying within a chord progression and having that main riff as a home base it allows them to improvise without getting lost. No matter where they take it, they can always bring it back home. Plus they were a real tight band that knew where each other would likely take the song. All four were fantastic musicians.
I first heard this song as an instrumental cover version (really good) by the British band C.C.S. it was used as the title music to legendary UK TV music show 'Top of the pops'.
According to Jimmy Page, because they never play a song the same in concert is why they broke up after John Bonham died. No one else could keep up... or be on the same level as him
there is an amazing live version of Whole Lotta Love/Black Dog 5/24/1975 - where Jimmy Page uses and oscillator to make the screeching sounds in the middle of the track, really worth a look !!!
Hey girl, great reaction. Need to check out the MSG 1973 version. It's 2 years after this show but totally different. By far my favorite version. Robert's voice has matured a little but Page's guitar playing is unbelievable. Try to keep up with his pinkie. Lol
Hey Millie, would love to see you react to Kashmir from the celebration day gig in 2007, the boys are in there 60s and John Bonhams son Jason stands in for him on the drums, you won’t believe what you’re seeing it’s unbelievably good 👍
June of 1977, Tampa, Florida. A crowd of 70,000 at the open-air Tampa Stadium. A rain shower passed over the stadium. The band left. Riot, police, tear gas. I had friends who drove from Miami. They were not pleased.
Hey Millie! Me encantó tu reacción. Quizás es pronto pero queremos más Red Hot Chili Peppers👹 si quieres algo de ellos en vivo te recomendaría otherside en slane castle, you’ll hear a lot of beautiful harmonies😉
In my opinion the studio version of Whole Lotta Love is even better. Remember they recorded on 64 track tape, and you can overlay multiple instruments, and vocals. So potentially Jimmy Page could play a guitar solo with a guitar counter melody and rhythm guitar on the same song. LZ was great, maybe the best in the business at their studio versions of songs and albums.
Led Zeppelin was a great band, but they are known for lifting ideas from other bands. In this song, Plant's lyrics are based on a 1962 Muddy Waters song written by Willie Dixon called "You Need Love," where Waters sings: I ain't foolin', you need schoolin' Baby, you know you need coolin' Woman, way down inside The band reached an agreement with Dixon, who used the settlement money to set up a program providing instruments for schools.
The Small Faces lifted the song first in '67 or '68, Steve Marriot's vocal stylings and phrasings were directly lifted by Plant. ua-cam.com/video/tp0jZ4BGuDw/v-deo.html
I love how even ignoring the lyrics, the song is structured musically to sound like sex. A lot of repetition in the main song, for a long time, very rhythmic, slowly building in speed and intensity. Then Robert Plant begins his "moaning" section... "ah, ah, ah, AH AH AH!!!", as the music becomes distorted in the background and fades a bit, and then it erupts into a euphoric Guitar solo from Page. If they didn't sing a single word, you would still know exactly what the song is about. It's not subtle at all. The music is more explicit than the lyrics. It's easy to notice that in the song, but it was genius to compose the song that way.
Millie, I have read on another channel's comments that Zeppelin never played a song alike, never. Each performance was different. Great, but different!!! Per your usual, you are smiling ear to ear!!! Why are you not playing your air-drums??????
Hey Millie🙂. Do yourself a favor and react to Kashmir live (Celebration Day)from 2007. I know you already reacted to Kashmir but this live version will go immediately to the top of your playlist guaranteed. Scott B.
Not even my favorite rock band (that would be Pink Floyd) but even I know they're the GOAT. And I actually think the greatest music era was pretty broad; more than just 60's and 70's. I actually think that great era was from the late 50's to early 90's. But I don't totally disagree with you; bulk of the most influential was 60's and 70's.
Millie, Does your generation think this song is about sex? You mentioned how this was different. I heard another reactor state that Zeppelin NEVER performed a song the same way. Every version a bit different. Your tank top is boss!!!!
Millie, I have a favor I want to ask of you. May I have your Pink Floyd tank top? Pink is one of the greatest ROCK Bands EVER!!!!!! Enjoy this video and rock on!!!!! Pay attention to John Paul and his bass guitar. You can learn from him lady!!! This is one of the greatest rock bands EVER. I do not know how England produced so many good bands. BYE for now.............

Well said about all of their live performance versions being unique. Tremendous talent and chemistry. Compliments on your tank top.
What else can I say the GOATS OF GOATS...PERIOD! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😎
This show - Royal Albert Hall 1970 - is a landmark show in Zep's career. Picked up a soundboard CD of the entire show recently....all fire.

i totally agree with you those the wore golden years of music creativity never to happen again sadly
Defo bangers and creativity. Soul, rock, ska.
But 78-83 was far more eclectic.
In short 55 to 96 🤣🤣
Yep! Every time they do a song is unique!! They played everywhere...they had crazy chemistry! Some studio songs were recorded live on their albums!
Very astute statements about Zep, young lady. Bravo. The band formed in 68. By Jan 69 they released their debut album which is incredible. At some point the start touring. Spot on for realizing that the band was so tight and unified that they could customize each performance as needed.
Listening to Led Zep in a Floyd shirt, you have developed real good taste🤘
For me that's a sacrilege
I agree. It's great taste!
Great look Millie and great reaction. Nobody rocks it out like the Mighty Zepp. Keep going on your Led journey!
This is one of their BEST songs --- super -high energy. This young lady is ROCK and ROLL...... Legends!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take care. I love that tank top...
Awesome fun reaction. Yes, this is different from the studio version. A great banger to wake up to and begin the day. 🎸 🥁 🎉❤
My singer used to do the same thing. As long as his cue words were still where they needed to be, he cold sing anything else he wanted to.
This song is older than the hills. And waaay better than those old hills. The goodness of this band never goes away.
Raw, raw.
that whole gig is amazing!!
LZ were so great when live and loud! This track of course became famous as the intro for TOTPs for years. Masters of doing live versions of what is a masterful studio recording and making it sound even better!

The Legend .....---------******* LED ZEPPELIN *********----------...........Of All Time
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes, we who lived in the 60's and 70's were the luckiest for music lovers. LZ best of all. 👍
If possible, you also need to see this song live from MSG 1973. Completely different with an extended jam session! One of the greatest performances ever recorded!

Hi Millie 🔊 ! I like your pink headphones 🎧 . Enjoyed your reaction to Zeppelin rocking hard ! As you said .." It's Wicked " 🎸
The whole performance is amazing but John Bonham’s drumming is insane! Fun fact, Robert Plant comes from a town here in England very close to where live. 🙂
My mom was not far from there too
I was living in Puerto Rico and listened to it on a Shortwave Radio station out of South Africa
Im glad you truly recognize and appreciate that this was done and performed 60 years ago. Back in the day, Bands made $ by selling albums and then touring live concerts. Robert Plant was one of the great improvisational rock vocalists. The band had to constantly be in the moment to follow along with him and that's how they developed such great chemistry/sync. Jim Morrison and The Doors had a similar dynamic.
On the rock radio stations too. Sometimes the station would play the concert on the air for people who couldn't come to the concert.
Can't go roung with led zeppelin 🤘❤️🤘❤️🤘💯
Them staying within a chord progression and having that main riff as a home base it allows them to improvise without getting lost. No matter where they take it, they can always bring it back home. Plus they were a real tight band that knew where each other would likely take the song. All four were fantastic musicians.
One of THE ICONIC Riffs in Rock/Metal History.......check out the 15 Minutes Live Version from THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME !!!!
Oh I love that shirt Millie!
MS Garden 1973 is the best live version
This is why we love ya Millie.
I first heard this song as an instrumental cover version (really good) by the British band C.C.S. it was used as the title music to legendary UK TV music show 'Top of the pops'.
Led Zeppelin + Millie = a whole lotta love.
I've seen zeppelin a few times in concert and yes they play heavier and faster live in concert!
there first big hit from the first album
How can you have such a high inflection in your voice while reacting to music yet have such a dull monotone voice when singing?
I love your reactions!!
According to Jimmy Page, because they never play a song the same in concert is why they broke up after John Bonham died. No one else could keep up... or be on the same level as him
Yes!
The GOAT!
Royal Albert Hall full concert:
ua-cam.com/video/h9G3QeFPe8Y/v-deo.html
And yes, never, ever, interrupt zeppelin, under any circumstances.
That how we knew the bands was good if they sound as good or better then the record you knew they was good
ROCK ROCK ROCK
The lady who said each of their shows were different was Tara Simon!!!! She would know, she is an expert in and on music!!!!
there is an amazing live version of Whole Lotta Love/Black Dog 5/24/1975 - where Jimmy Page uses and oscillator to make the screeching sounds in the middle of the track, really worth a look !!!
It's a theremin.
70s 🙏❤️🥂👊
Great reaction Millie! This happens to be my favorite Led Zeppelin song. Please check out Kashmir next.
Hey girl, great reaction. Need to check out the MSG 1973 version. It's 2 years after this show but totally different. By far my favorite version. Robert's voice has matured a little but Page's guitar playing is unbelievable. Try to keep up with his pinkie. Lol
Fantastic reaction Millie, you sound like you d moved to Dublin from somewhere.
Keep reacting
❤️👍🏽👍☘️
"Tight but loose" That's Zeppelin live ❤
The Tank top - I love it.....
Hey Millie, would love to see you react to Kashmir from the celebration day gig in 2007, the boys are in there 60s and John Bonhams son Jason stands in for him on the drums, you won’t believe what you’re seeing it’s unbelievably good 👍

Much havier than the album version...❤
We all need some more Theremines in our lives.
Plant was only about 21 yo here ..crazy!
You got very good ears live is always heavier and every time led zeppelins song versions are different when they play live
Hey Millie! Me encantó tu reacción. Quizás es pronto pero queremos más Red Hot Chili Peppers👹 si quieres algo de ellos en vivo te recomendaría otherside en slane castle, you’ll hear a lot of beautiful harmonies😉
I'm gonna crawl, studio version
They are vintage? They are immortal
Ke bueno k te gusta este tipo de música 💯

love all the way from de center of the earth ❤️
You should watch Michael Winslow do his version of this song…is incredible
You need to listen another master piece of Led called Achilles last stand. Live knebworth 1979 💥💥💥
In my opinion the studio version of Whole Lotta Love is even better. Remember they recorded on 64 track tape, and you can overlay multiple instruments, and vocals. I was born in '59, so I'm having "I was a teenager in the 70's" engraved on my grave stone.
Those four symbols represent each band member.

@@Clouds_wheelchair Yeah, I read about that too.
Was kinda wondering if Millie caught on what the song was about.

What part of Italy do you live? I know a woman who lives in Avelino. We were checking out your English pronunciation together. Interesting.
Zeppelin was more Blues in the early days.
Hey Millie🙂. Do yourself a favor and react to Kashmir live (Celebration Day)from 2007. I know you already reacted to Kashmir but this live version will go immediately to the top of your playlist guaranteed. Scott B.
