They have 7 Grammys, sold over 100 million records & are in the Rock and Roll hall of fame. They are both 83 years old now. They are legends, known for their harmony. When Disturb is long forgotten, these guys will still be one of the greatest duos in history.
If you’re a Renaissance fair lover you must listen to their version of Scarborough Fair (Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme). Also classics are The Boxer and Mrs.Robinson.
Met Art Garfunkel in 1965 when I was around 10. Took guitar lessons with a my friend Lou Pearlman. His parents invited me over dinner & told me to bring my guitar. When I arrived Lou introduced me to his cousin Art. I had NO IDEA who he was. I believe they had recently released their first album. We played some guitar & he signed an autograph for me that I still have. Lou went on to form the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC.
"This just took me to the Renaissance festival." Funny you should mention that. They have their own version of Scarborough Fair, and it is beautiful. Another musical trip is their song A Hazy Shade of Winter, and then the cover version by The Bangles.
What a guy...............Simon & Garfunkel are a Hall of Fame band. Disturbed is just................well...............Disturbed................Gawd awful.
You can watch them do it live in Central Park in 1981 after about 10 years of not performing a full concert together. They have a good amount of popular songs
Paul Simon is one of the greatest American songwriters. You can't study American music and not study Paul Simon. He and Art Garfunkle made a formidable folk duo in the '60s and '70s. Garfunkle sings the high harmonies, Simon plays guitar, writes the songs, and sings the lower harmony. Yes, their version of The Sound of Silence is much faster than Disturbed's cover, but they were going for different feels. A common description of the difference between the 2 versions is that the original is a warning, and Disturbed's cover represents anger that the warning wasn't heeded.
This is the original. Paul Simon wrote this song in 1963. Paul Simon said that Disturbed's version really conveyed the frustration and anger of people's inability to communicate properly
Search for Sound of Silence in Central Park. They performed a free concert in Central Park, NY in 1991. A bit older than in the original version, but still a solid performance. I was fortunate enough to see them perform live in Pittsburgh, PA in 1983.
Simon and Garfunkel you have to react to "Mrs. Robinson"...PLEASE! Btw...Simon is Paul Simon, he is a brilliant singer/songwriter another one you can react to by him is "Diamonds On the Soles of Her Shoes"
Yes it's the correct song & the Original 👍 know as one of the best folk songs Group !!! Yes they also sing ( Scarborough Fair ) their Harmony was excellent even if they Didn't care for each other 😮😮😮 Yet if you enjoy folk lyric songs I will list you more 🎶 1) Bobbie Gentry ( Ode to Billy Joe ) 2) John Denver ( Annie's Song ) 3) Bread ( Diary ) 4 ) Skeeter Davis ( End of the World ) 5) Etta James ( At Last ) Bonus : The Carpenters ( Top of the World ) As you have Heard the difference of the songs it's interpretation
4:53 Here's the special thing about art... you don't have to choose a favorite or least favorite. You can love what you love without ranking them. Music, Movies, Books, TV Shows, Architecture, Sculptures... all of these things coexist. Having one does not diminish the others, and vice versa. I know its popular with modern internet click-bait, but don't feel obligated to rank things you enjoy. It can all just be "your jam." 😁 I can't tell you how many times I'll be at a restaurant, or a doctor's office, or a grocery store and a song comes over the radio and I say, out loud, "That's my jam!!"
If you like how Simon & Garfunkle harmonize their voice, then you have to listen to The Beach Boys. Listen to God Only Knows, Wouldn't Be Nice, Good Vibrations, and Little Deuce Coupe...They are THE BEST at harmonizing their voices.
Important reminder: you won’t find official music videos for songs until the late 70’s, early 80’s. So you don’t end up looking for a music video from a 60’s song endlessly.
Maybe not a music video like you’d find today but there are recorded performances such as clips from movies (Jailhouse Rock) or live performances like The Beatles on Ed Sullivan.
@@Darkstar72SR yeah those are great. And there were fans stitching them together with the recorded track to make “unofficial music videos” well before record labels caught on to the marketing aspect of them
Your voice is like a warm embrace, your lips a captivating work of art, your skin tone a beloved hue, and your nails a harmonious symphony of color. All of you is both alluring and comforting. The warmth of your voice, the beauty of your lips, the allure of your skin tone, and the harmony of your nail polish-everything about you is both enchanting and soothing.
I liked this version so much more than the cover by Disturbed. I didn't think Disturbs vocals really fit well with it as much as Simon and Garfunkels did.
Wonderful reaction! This one is my favorite but you definitely need to check out "Penteonix" (they are a acapella band). version of this song, it's definitely worth listening to their version!! Again loved the reaction and all your reactions!! Have a great night! 😊
A better duo cannot be found for sure! Please react to one of their live performances 🙏 I recommed The boxer, Mrs Robinson or Bridge over troubled waters.. or this one because it's fire too
Hello dear lady Mia from the UK. I grew up with Simon and Garfunkel and when you mentioned that you enjoy a renaissance fair, we don’t really have those here as I’m surrounded by 800 year old castles which is just normal 😊 I thought you might like to react to Simon and Garfunkel singing ‘Are you going to Scarborough fare’ which is a medieval folk song they famously revived and it is like being taken back 800 years 😊 thanks for the videos x
Paul Simon wrote this and many other timeless songs. Listen to Bridge Over Troubled Water and The Boxer. Both are very popular. He was as much a poet as a song wrier.
It must be a generational thing. I grew up with Simon and Garfunkel, and we studied the lyrics of "The Sound Of Silence" when I was in high school. I tried to watch the version of this song by Disturbed, but I just couldn't get through it as it came across to me as a commercialized bastardization of the incredibly meaningful original song written by Mr. Paul Simon. Again, I'm from a different generation--meaning matters to me.
Hi Mia! There is another version of this song that's in their "Greatest hits" album that has Drums & a great Baseline if you want to check it out. You have to listen to Bridge Over Troubled Water, Scarborough Fair, & The Boxer also.
Since you have listened to Disturbs & Simon&Garfunkels versions...now you have to listen to Pentatonix version of Sound of Silence!!! It's the best version there is & will blow your mind!!!
You Know Paul Simon wrote it & Art Garfunkle sings the high vocals, Check out Scarborough Fair by them & there's a lyric version which is my favorite. 😉😉😉

Awesome duo who had many great tunes in the 60s. I prefer the original but both versions are amazing. Another of theirs you should try is Bridge Over Troubled Water next, for a very emotional tune, it will be unforgettable, trust me. One of the best musical collaborations in my lifetime, they are well worth reacting to when you can, beautiful, always Hot, Mia! Enjoy. 🔥🎵🎤🎸🎤🎹🎶🔥
Draiman's (Disturbed) version is more powerful, yet Simon & Garfunkel's version, in it's day, killed it!! This song is representative of the lack of communication in society at large, both then and now. A disconnect, so to speak It's kinda like screaming into the void. Nobody but you----hears you. Can't choose between the two, Mia. Both great! Thank you for posting.
THE ONLY LIVING BOY IN NEW YORK ......and so many songs they created.......its the original....PAUL SIMON made these songs and ART GARFUNKEL has this unique voice.....he just made a new album with his son GARFUNKEL AND GARFUNKEL.....Simon and Garfunkel started 1961.....legends
Simon and Garfunkel warned us of what would happen if we did not listen to each other. Disturbed shows us what happened because we did not listen. By the way, Simon and Garfunkel actually congratulated Disturbed on their version.
I do think Disturbed did a phenomenal job on the cover, but the original is legendary for me. Although if you enjoyed this, you HAVE to check out a few more from Simon and Garfunkel, especially The Boxer and Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Hi Mia. Glad to see you truly appreciated this original masterpiece. You should also check out "Scarborough Fair" & "Mrs. Robinson." Both classics as well and I think you would enjoy! 💕
Oh girl you should do a whole "Who did Better" videos. There are so many songs that can be done. And it's different kind of content to a point. Tainted Love by Soft Cell and Marilyn Manson along with this song for example.
Instruments are pretty normal for the song. Acoustic guitars, bass, drums & vocals. If there’s an electric guitar in there, it’s subtle and definitely with a clean tone.
Renaissance festival? There is medieval rock: Subway to Sally, Saltatio mortis, Feuerschwanz, Tanzwut, and many power metal bands have fantasy themes. Blind Guardian have albums about Lord of Rings, try Blind Guardian - The bard's song & Valhalla live Wacken 2016.
This is a masterpiece. I suggest Five Finger Death Punch--Gone Away and The Offspring--Gone Away. They'll knock your socks off. Mia, a great storytelling song that I think you'll like is called "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot, based on a true story.
Try this one on for size: First, the original Simon and Garfunkle version of A Hazy Shade of Winter. After that, do the cover of same by The Bangles. You could probably do them back-to-back in one video because they're both fairly short (2:18 for the original, and 2:47 for The Bangles' cover).

They were the originals no auto tune just talent
They sing great harmonies together and have a LOT of great songs. Listen to Bridge Over Troubled Water next.
More from Simon & Garfunkel: Bridge over troubled water, The boxer, Cecilia, Mrs Robinson, El condor pasa
"he was my brother" gets me in the heart every time. Rest in Power all the martyrs and saints who died for freedom and justice.
You meant to put El Condor Pasa first.
Easy mistake
If you’re a Renaissance fair lover you must listen to their version of Scarborough Fair (Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme). Also classics are The Boxer and Mrs.Robinson.
It's called 'Scarborough Fair/Canticle' and it's an original that incorporates the traditional song.
Met Art Garfunkel in 1965 when I was around 10. Took guitar lessons with a my friend Lou Pearlman. His parents invited me over dinner & told me to bring my guitar. This is a timeless classic of music. Paul Simon is a genius songwriter, and Art Garfunkle has the voice of an angel. A perfect combination.
You do not have to choose .It's a great song that was released by Simon and Garfunkel on Oct 1964 that's 60 years ago .
Simon and Garfunkel are living legends. About as well known as the Beatles or Rolling Stones.
This was one of the most iconic songs of the folk era of the 1960's. Remember, music videos didn't become a thing about 1980.
"This just took me to the Renaissance festival." Funny you should mention that. They have their own version of Scarborough Fair, and it is beautiful. Another musical trip is their song A Hazy Shade of Winter, and then the cover version by The Bangles.
I like Disturbed a lot. But I have to give to Simon & Garfunkel as the originators.
What a guy...............Simon & Garfunkel are a Hall of Fame band. Disturbed is just................well...............Disturbed................Gawd awful.
It was guitar with a capo . Paul Simon plays mostly with a capo .
they have more awards then anyone
Their song , bridge over trouble waters, is life changing. Top 5 song all time
Te amo
Thanks for another great and fun reaction
Sometimes simple songs are pretty powerful, huh?
Keep on exploring..you're expanding quickly 💥
You need to watch them do this song live from Central Park. It's a game changer.

Bridge over troubled water would be your next Simon and Garfunkel song to listen to. It’s probably their most famous one.
Paul Simon is an amazing singer and songwriter. Art Garfunkle was there, too.
Art Garfunkel was better singer . Paul Simon even said that.
Nonsensical diss to Art Garfunkle.
what was about to play after your reaction El Condor Pasa is a wonderful song, poetry and harmony is what you get with these guys
This is natural talent, no electronic or voice trickery. A guitar and 2 men, the ones who wrote and performed it.
As mentioned, Scarborough Fair will give you the Renaissance vibe you mentioned
You're listening to the original. This is your favorite version trust me.
Can't listen to this version.
This is the version you hear. The Disturbed version is the one you feel.
@@feardabrood I suppose
Wholeheartedly agreed. I can't stand Disturbed's cover. Also, David did that by himself. Bit mistake. It's written as a duet!
Ppppffffttt
Bridge Over Troubled Water is their most beautiful song ! Now that you're getting more into slower songs 😉✌️🥂🌹🌹🌹🌹
This is the original. Paul Simon wrote this song in 1963. Paul Simon said that Disturbed's version really conveyed the frustration and anger of people's inability to communicate properly
This is the main track from the 1967 movie "The graduate."
Renfaires are awesome. Simon and Garfunkel's "Scarborough Fair" reminds me of them.
Yes they are, I had plenty of great times at Renn Fairs!
Scarborough Fair and Mrs. Robinson by them are good too. By far their best.
Also short but sweet - April Come She Will
Search for Sound of Silence in Central Park. They performed a free concert in Central Park, NY in 1991. A bit older than in the original version, but still a solid performance. I was fortunate enough to see them perform live in Pittsburgh, PA in 1983.

Simon & Garfunkel was the first concert I ever saw (in 1967). They have many huge songs. I prefer this version for sure.
Paul Simon wrote this when he was 21 years old & in college. This is the original. This is how Paul wrote it.
