    For hunters and shooters that appreciate Ravin’s legendary technology, the R500 takes crossbow innovation to the next level. The new proprietary HexCoil Cam System rotates the cams an incredible 360 degrees and has reformed traditional crossbows into the fastest, most accurate and compact designs ever seen. Completely silent, this crossbow uses the new R500 Draw Handle and cocks back to a slim 3.6 inches when fully cocked, firing arrows downrange at 500 feet per second! The R500 utilizes the new VersaDrive Cocking System that has an internal screw drive that moves the Trac Trigger Firing System (TTFS) back and forth. The internal clutch within the VersaDrive System eliminates over-cocking and allows cocking and uncocking to be stopped or resumed at any time during the process. The R500 can be upgraded to the R500E by purchase of the new Electric Drive Kit, sold separately.
    HELICOIL® TECHNOLOGY
    The engine behind Ravin crossbows. This revolutionary technology has several industry changing advantages that all work together to create the most accurate crossbow ever designed. HeliCoil technology coils cables away from both the top and bottom of the cams in helical grooves keeping the cams perfectly balanced. This allows the cams to rotate an incredible 340 degrees, while both cams remain perfectly level when drawing and shooting the crossbow. This revolutionary design creates an incredibly compact crossbow packed full of innovative features that produce rifle-like downrange accuracy.
    FRICTIONLESS™ FLIGHT SYSTEM
    This patent pending technology allows the arrow and string to free float above the rail, eliminating friction for consistent accuracy and increased string and cable life. This unique HeliCoil advantage delivers unmatched downrange accuracy with every shot.
    TRAC-TRIGGER™ FIRING SYSTEM
    A patented built-in trigger mechanism that slides forward on the rail and clasps directly to the precise center of the string every time the bow is drawn, allowing for straight-line nock travel. This unique Helicoil advantage creates a perfectly balanced draw for unmatched down range accuracy with every shot.

    One of my local archery shops told me they had one of these that chrono'd at 507 FPS! At such speed, the arrow reaches 50 yards at .31 of a second. AT 100 yards, .63!!!!

      except it slows down.. fast, sure aint doing 500 at 100 yards

      Well of course. It’s the starting speed that is an issue. At 100 yards, that is longer than what you shoot at a deer, the speed is incredible.

    I like that they test the decibel lvls with the bows on this channel. But with this particular unit…at 497fps, it could be as loud as a 12gauge with 3 1/2 magnums. Nothing is dodging this speed.

      Its still slower than sound. so.. maybe?

    Omg I used to work in pro shops ( been awhile) but if we seen a crossbow over 300fps that was fast. Now Ravin is at 500fps!! That is crazy to us old school guys😉😆

      Yes sir! I've been crossbow hunting for almost 40 years now. It's been a wild ride and actually very enjoyable watching the different companies compete year after year for fps, accuracy, and the big one...PRICE! I can remember when reaching a speed of 300 fps was a dream! We truly have some awesome crossbows today. But in 2030 when I'm in my 60's these bows will probably be considered slow...can you just imagine that🤔😉

    Do the 6 bolts come with practice broadheads? Pardon my ignorance about using a crossbow. I bought the R500E today and can't tell if I need to buy practice broadheads

    I bought a r500 was impressed with the speed but the cranking handle was what kinda made me mad I instead got an r26x and the cranking felt way better plus I have shorter 18 inch bolts and gained way more speed out of it

  • @chs9627
    @chs9627 Рік тому +2

    Just for some clarification, the arrows themselves only weigh 300grains. For whatever reason Ravin lists the arrow at 400 grains without explaining that weight is only achieved with a 100grain field point or broadhead on the arrow.

    These are no longer the fastest crossbows, Tenpoint just dropped the Nitro 505, which have chronographed at 514/515 with a 400 grain arrow and they have a buy now button on their site for it, not a buy now get it next year

      I like Ravin! I must say that TenPoint is kicking Ravin’s butt in the 500 FPS war.
      I just purchased my first TenPoint, a Nitro 505. The bow clocked 521 FPS with a 400 grain arrow! Being that you loose 1 to 1.5 FPS for every 5 grains of additional weight. That would put me at 504.5 to 509 FPS with a 455 grain arrow! That’s nuts!!!

      The chrono tests show ravins 500 is far rarer to catch a “hot one”.. group shot tests I’ve seen rated the Ravin higher?

    I have been reading on various forums about all the trouble the nocks have been giving people with this bow (nocks coming out). What has been your experience there in the shop with the bolts you have been shooting?

      I had problem with nocks breaking and difficulty loading bolts into trigger. Also had string fray after about only 12-15 shots. Sent it back. Would expect better quality for a $3K product. Fast though but if it doesn't last...

    keep the worm drive in the centre of the rail 50 percent less cranking lol

    Would is be better to use heavy bolts so it shoots 300fps? That would be less loud and it would carry more penatration.

    Do more research, the Ravin’s cocking handle never flew backwards unless you had the silent cocking versions and were holding the button down to enable the silent cocking function. If you let go of that button or were in normal cocking mode there was no backward movement of the cocking handle.

    If you can't stick a deer with a 380 fps xbow, the ravin 500 will not pull it off either. 3 to 4k for xbow is not a real option for the common man. Yeah guys kill deer 100 yards away with then. Personally I think any xbow is best used on this side of 30 yards for unalert deer.

    • @douglasborgaro6801
      @douglasborgaro6801 2 роки тому

      You make good points! But I'm not sure how you define a "Common Man." I would challenge your position on 30 yard maximum shots. As many things, technology has advanced. As I listed in a previous post, a local archery shop near me had a 500 that chrono'd at 507 FPS. AT such speeds, the time of flight at 50 yards is only .31 of a second. I don't see a deer getting out of the way with that speed. I'm not advocating 100 yard shots, but strictly for academic purposes and discussion the time of flight to 100 yards is .63 of a second. Have I ever taken a shot over 50 yards? No way. You must admit that this technology would make such things possible under the best conditions. This is a modern crossbow and speeds like this also benefit the shooter at closer ranges. With xbows under 340 FPS or even slower, jumping the string is an issue that can come into play and be recognized with a spine shot deer. Regardless, better crossbows with better technology aren't a bad thing.

      @@douglasborgaro6801 I will stick with my excalibur shooting 459 grain arrow at 300 fps shooting deer at 35 yards no problems and hits like a Mack truck. For 750.00 and lifetime warranty on limbs and replace them and string myself if need to be. To many people caught up in speed the limbs will be blowing up pretty quick I bet!

    • @Dutch.1722
      @Dutch.1722 2 роки тому +2

      @@BleedGreenNation Not saying it can't be done. Its just that the noise is there before the bolt is. If unalert your prolly ok. The cheaper xbows get it done. I set up in thicker areas and have 9 feet to 12 yards mostly and keep it this side of 30 on purpose. Some folks don't always have those options I get that. For me though its this side of 30 yards.
