How to Replace Your Fuel Filter

This video shows how to replace a fuel filter, specifically for a 1995 Saturn SL1. However, this video may also be used as a general guide for any vehicle. From what I have researched, the 1995, 1996, and 1997 SL, SC and SW Saturn cars all use this same fuel filter, so this video should work well for all Saturns made from 1995 to 1997.

Thanks for the guide! Important note for people is that if you're car has ABS, you'll have to lift it to be able to reach the fuel filter. The ABS module is attached to the bottom of the brake cylinder so you won't be able to fit a wrench/screwdriver from the top.

just did this on my 1997 Saturn SL2 and may i say that bottom clip on the filter can be a pain in the ass if you don't have a good visual once i jacked up the car it took about 10 seconds to unclip. Just for someone like me who thinks they can get away with it without jacking the car up and wasting an hour trying not to break a line or something GREAT VIDEO

The 1997 SC2 has the exact fuel filter set up. In a few minutes I removed a plastic shield under the bottom area of the filter attached loosely to the wheel well, gaining easier access to the entire side & bottom area, clip, bolts, clamps, etc. Bottom access way easier imo. Also, plastic Fuel Line Removal Tool set is $10

I did it last night. My 3rd filter change on my 1997 SW2 (original owner) @ 171,589. TIP: the plastic holder has a quick release so it is not even necessary to unbolt it. The older filter can be removed and new on installed leaving the holder in place. Also, when disconnecting the bottom a lot of gas poured out of the filter and the line going to it. I had a flat drip pan (cookie sheet) to catch it most of it. Gloves are a must but gas can splatter on your cloths. Final TIP tape the protective caps on each end to keep dirt out until you are ready to connect the line.
