you just saved me a lot of money! side note, weird issue I still have is the radiator fan only turns on when I have the A/C button on with the fan setting at any level except off. I thought using the AC was usually something that adds heat, but weirdly my radiator fan will kick right on when I turn on the AC only, I also tested it with the temp sensor unplugged and the AC button off, and it would not turn on. Then with or without the temp-sensor plugged in, it would only turn on once I turned on the AC. Im wondering if anyone knows if saturns have some kind of bypass where the AC motor automatically turns on the radiator fan, it would make sense since the AC draws heat and the radiator fan might naturally engage with AC on? Any thoughts? I am pretty sure my temp sensor is bad, but even with it unplugged the AC engages the radiator fan.
Typically turning the AC on will turn the fan on. This is in order to keep the AC functioning optimally when you’re sitting still in traffic. As for only turning on when turning AC on, the fans on these cars don’t kick on until 5/8 on the temp gauge!
I have the same reading on the panel, (half way to hot reading) I will check the sensor and see what is up with that. Anything else I should check? (1999 sl2) Thanks
I have a 96 SW2 that I changed the fan motor on, but now it won't start at all. I have tried a couple different "quick starts" to get her goin again but to no avail. Any idea?
Hmm the fan motor isn’t related to whether your engine can start or not. Did you disconnect the battery when replacing the fan motor? Maybe when you reinstalled the battery cable you have a bad connection now? Or in my case, I later on had a damaged negative battery cable that needed to be replaced. Otherwise run through the basic trouble shooting of a “No Crank No Start” or if it does crank then “Crank No Start”
@@bluesxt Found out what the deal was, it was the plugs. They were over 100,000 miles old. And so they were melted and deformed. Caused to have a weak if any spark and flood the engine with gas. The coolant temp sensor was also bad, it being the plastic original. So i ordered them, but couldn't start the car yet due to a couple other repairs, but were back on track. Gotta say, in the midst of doing research, people kept saying so many unrelated things that were actually the problem. Never gonna look it up again. Just gonna get right into it myself.
Just got a 2000 sl2 and was just curious of most common issues I should look out for. I thought something was wrong cuz I got the temp up to about half and the fan never kicked on I’m gonna unplug the sensor in the morning to see if it spins just wanna make sure the ects is good
@@Peppep2024 the fan doesn’t turn on till about 5/8 on the temp gauge. If your temp is getting past 5/8, close to 3/4, and still not turning on then you may have a bad engine coolant temp sensor (ECTS) The plastic ones from factory are known for going bad
@@bluesxt Thanks for the reply. Yeah I get it to operating temperature and the fans still don’t turn on. I run the AC to get the fans to go on. I purchased a thermostat and a coolant temp sensor and will be installing both. I hope this is the problem. Great video!
Excellent without any bs : put the safety gloves, glasses and check direction of the wind blowing… Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Another informative video. Mahalo!

Una pregunta Saben en dónde BA ubikado el s nspr de árbol de levas Saturno el 2002
It’s only two faster that hold the fan shroud on these cars?

@@bluesxt Yea, didn't have a battery in it while repairing.

Mine does kick on but not until the gauge reads near 3/4. That normal??
Yup! It should kick on at about 5/8 on the gauge (just before 3/4). I think I mentioned that in this video (or at least tried to) :)

Also after I drove the car for it bit it started to idle high when in park or neutral it continues to climb rpm but in gear it’s normal at 1k rpm
My fan only comes on when I turn my AC on. The fans don’t come on automatically. What could that be?
