Watched this plus a few others before reseed my lawn that had almost died in the middle. Four weeks later I was amazed with the results. Now planning to reseed again in September 2020
Thank you very much, excellent video ... unlike other videos you take the time to show how things can be done manually, even if you haven't got the specific tools can't wait to get started today
This is something I need to do, having just spent time scarifying my moss filled lawn, hopefully I haven’t messed up doing it now, but I shall follow the advise in this video to overseer. Very useful video
Thank you this is so helpful! The first video I watched on UA-cam wanted me to buy about 10 different products and tools... this seems like the good ol' fashioned way that might require a little more elbow grease but a lot less money!
And happily, it's not really more effort at all this way. Dealing with extra products and tools is a pain in itself.... and don't even get me started on dropspreaders - a big energy drain.
Fantastic video, watched a few of these but this has been the best by far because you don't waffle on, your video gives you what you need in a very well presented informative video
Hi just watched and thankfully realized I do it the same way, although I do usually add topdressing on top to keep birds off. How well do you find this way stops the bird activity? . From one uk lawn care addict to another, take care 😊. Keep up the great content!
Great video. Thank you for sharing. I have just scarifier my lawn which is now looking a bit bare. I also added a combined fertiliser and weed killer which says I shouldn't over seed for 2 weeks. When I do overseed, will I need to add more fertiliser? Can I walk on the grass after overseeding? Thanks for your help. Regards
@@LawnsmithTV hi I have used electric lawn raker and. Aerated with metal tines but haven't got a scarifier ? Do I really need one? Also do I really need the fertiliser broadcaster or can I do that by hand. I have a seed spreader but seems I don't really need it.i only have 25sqm lawn
Purchased the shoulder spreader based on your excellent supportive videos. Would you mind advising what setting you were using in this clip, please? I found that I was on practically the lowest setting for fertiliser once I'd performed the required maths. Thank you.
When should you apply TOPSOIL?? BEFORE seeding, so the seed has nice new soil to fall onto, or AFTER, hence covering the seed lightly? Many thanks. Thank you for your SUPERB VIDEOS Teddy UK
During germination can i step on the lawn to move around and place the sprinkler at different spots, will it not damage the young grass popping out of the seed if i step on it?
A good video and very informative. Just two questions.1 How much seed in grams per square metre should I use. 2. What fertiliser should I use and how much per square metre for overseeding.
Emmanual, you need to rake or scarify first as in the first video of the playlist www.lawnsmith.co.uk/lawn-care-videos/aerate-rake-scarify/scarify-rake-lawn.htm
So is it correct to add fertiliser directly after seeding. Or is the video cut over multiple days? Ps wish you were still active on youtube. Your websites Awesome!

Hi Margaret. Nice to have a big lawn which as you say is difficult to water therefore time your seeding to coincide with wetter weather just as the farmer does.
Probably the first and only video I've seen that doesn't assume a regular person has a plethora of specialist lawn tools for the job. Great video.

The master at work. Been buying his products for 4 years and they are excellent
So easy, well explained and the added bonus , he didn’t try to sell a product.
The best reseeding video for me...Always come back to it👌
I top dressing required?

Its nice to find videos with people explaining well and that (apparently) know what they are talking about.
Thanks for sharing.
What a useful video. I am a self-confessed lawn addict but intend seeking help for my condition.
Honest, educative and commercial restraint free!!

Excellent tutorial, suitable for numpty amateurs like me as well as proper gardeners.
Brilliant video, loved the way you broke everything down so throughly
Blimey you weren't kidding about this being a good thigh workout! Halfway across my lawn as I type and feel like I've run 5k!

Very good video, I must say that I do like that fertilizer spreader!
Thanks a lot! Easy, simple and clear instructions. A video that it's not "Greek" to me as I live in Greece!
Great skills, chap!
My lawn is 300m² and gives me the fear.
Still, I determine to conquer it this season!
Ditto. It would be impossible to do all this hand things. Just impossible with my big lawn.
Thank you for your teaching simple and easy👍👍👍
Great video! Thanks for the help. Doing this next week
You make it look so easy! I i will give it a go

At least 2 weeks. Adding more will depend on what you first used. Enquire here thelawnsmith@lawnsmith.co.uk

Clear explanation from an expert.
What a beautiful lawn ....
very well made video thankyou for taking the time
Many thanks two brilliant and informative videos
Simple explanation and methods. Articulate too. Which helps.
All excellently shown. BUT, all this hand worked sowing, brushed into soil……but you have here a small lawn! Mine is so much bigger.
Hi would this be ok to do in march in the uk? Great video thanks.
Michael, I would suggest April is a better time. Read this www.lawnsmith.co.uk/lawn-care-advice/scarifying-raking/when-to-rake-or-scarify
Excellent. Very clear thanks

Hi like your channel plenty of ideas I’ve just got some grass seed for my lawn I’ve just got to wait for weather to Britten up ❤️🇬🇧David

Before seeding
very great video
Pete, start mowing as normal but on the highest setting for the first 3 months. A sharp mower is beneficial.
Am I right in thinking you put fertiliser down straight after seeding?
this is a good video - how do you stop the birds eating the seeds?
Cover with a large sheet of polythene for a couple of weeks
During germination can i step on the lawn to move around and place the sprinkler at different spots, will it not damage the young grass popping out of the seed if i step on it?
You can but no twisting and tread gently
A good video and very informative. Just two questions.1 How much seed in grams per square metre should I use. 2. What fertiliser should I use and how much per square metre for overseeding.
Depends on the seed or the fertiliser. Visit www.lawnsmith.co.uk/ for details
Hi there, Quick question Should i mow the lawn before seeding or can i just spread the seed on a grown lawn
Emmanual, you need to rake or scarify first as in the first video of the playlist
www.lawnsmith.co.uk/lawn-care-videos/aerate-rake-scarify/scarify-rake-lawn.htm
Thanks for the vid, very clear & useful 👍🏽😁 Can this be done in May/June or better to wait until the Autumn?
April/May or Autumn
Great video. Thanks
Very commendable.
Do you need to put topsoil on the seeds?
Not necessary at all
What type of fertiliser would you use
Use one of our seasonal feeds Thomas www.lawnsmith.co.uk/lawn-fertiliser-products
very concise. thanks very much
great video , very informative .
Thanks lawnsmith.
really nicely explained. thanks
Hi. How long after reseeding can you rake the lawn for leaves?
You need to be very gentle for at least the first 8 weeks. Best to seed in spring if leaves are going to be an issue
Could you use iron sulphate as the fertiliser?
Read this www.lawnsmith.co.uk/topic/fertiliser-advice/iron-sulphate-green-lawn
I take it this would be for lawns that are already established and you just want to do a top up??
Correct Adam. Usually after raking or scarifying.
Thank you for sharing
Great vid 👍
Very useful video - solid, easy to follow advice without all the hyper razamataz.
Great video
Do I cut my lawn short before doing this?
You do Jaysteezy
So is it correct to add fertiliser directly after seeding. Or is the video cut over multiple days?
Ps wish you were still active on youtube. Your websites Awesome!

Lindsay, spring and autumn are the typical times to over seed. Hope that helps
Very good video
Trying my best Fingers crossed.
For those of us in the USA a fortnight is 14 days
Nice - I didn't realise it was a word Americans did not use, normally we hear the common differences but I guess there's hundreds!?
I've just scarified the lawn ,1st April (yer April fools day) is it too early to overseed now
Go here for advice Tom www.lawnsmith.co.uk/lawn-care-advice/scarifying-raking
