Side note: I forgot to update part of the graphic in the video on the engine specs from the Maverick Tremor.. some of you may catch this. Either way, I say the correct specs verbally.
Subaru consistently enhances the specifications of its models to prioritize safety and rigidity. It is cool to control the boost for the manual gearbox, along with the ability to incorporate aftermarket parts, which definitely may also add value to the overall package.

Sarah I just want to tell you how much I appreciate how hard you work. Besides actual vehicle work, the editing that you have to do to put out the videos is truly appreciated. And today I was blown away when you referenced density altitude and the potential performance impact. Outside of aviation, I've not heard anyone make that reference before. You are truly awesome! You know what you're talking about and you share great information.
Descriptions like rear bumper ass beard, schteel, spicy brakes, recycled wool winter pants fender liners, are just a few of the reasons I LOVE Sarah-n-Tuned reviews.
I love how your reviews are strait to the point. We dont have to listen to a bunch of crap no one cares about like some of the others do. I also like how you show the chassis on the lift and quickly go over everything. 👍

I've watched just about every review that comes across my feed. I want a WRX. I just don't have the money yet. This review is hands down the best I've seen. I don't think I've seen anyone mention that it had a double wishbone suspension.
Would absolutely love to see Sarah end up with one of these and doing it up. Something to prove to the rest of community that these absolutely are special.
I like what Subaru has offered with the TR as far as the bigger brake set up, the 19" Enkei wheels, the Recaro seating and the 6-speed manual. I really the TR model but I'm not feeling the MSRP of the TR model.
My daughter, Sarah, sold Subarus in Portland OR for a time. You two are a lot alike, so it was a great pleasure seeing you doing this honest and educational review! And yes, I love you, too.
I can actually watch and enjoy a car review channel. Maybe I'll hate you in a year or whatever like every other car review channel....but what a breath of fresh air this is.
Looking at buying this, only video I've found with actual information I want to see. Thank you so much for showing the actual construction of the car instead of just driving around and talking about how it "feels"
I find myself “mining” your years old videos, for they are as fascinating and as polished as UA-cam videos on space time, consciousness, and Who Built the Pyramids? It’s great content, but have to be exhausting to create! One of your two year old videos asked for viewer feedback on how you could avoid not being totally consumed by your no days off passion for making car videos. You will laugh, but I think your total focus and dedication to perfection suggests you may be ready to explore Zen, the wax on, wax off, paint the fence, way of owning your mind. Try Zen and nature hikes, even short ones, to let scenic wildness heal you. You will come back refreshed and reenergized and ready to take on even the saddest of barn finds! Take care of yourself, Sarah, we viewers admire and need your creativity! It refreshes us!
I bought a Solar Orange Premium because the spec was what I wanted at the price I wanted. But I'll admit I wish the budget fit the TR... there are a lot of things in this trim that I really like. Sometimes it's hard to compare trims, but just looking at the brakes, the Recaros, the nicer sound system and the alcantara appointed interior makes all the difference.
Thanks. Excellent review. With respect to how the car is built, so many explained details, short and to the point word usage and an enthusiast mindset doling out of specs information . In terms of camera work, great shots of the underbody, and repeated views of it almost make for feeling of being present at the filming location.
In Canada we get the rear heated seats on the Sport-Tech (Limited) trim. Also, the annoying seat belt chime can be disabled by switch cycling procedure.
I love Sarah. Hope you come to Mx to review the Chinese cars. No one here is making the reviews as yours. Consumers should be informed what they’re buying. Nothing more than my admiration for your work.
In 2007 I bought a brand new WRX TR, I think the MSRP was $24K and change. Crazy to think the MSRP for this one is not that far from double the number... Inflation calc does say $37K is the equivalent. But still. edit: I see I am guilty of commenting before the end because you said just that :D
Seat belt warning disable - turn on the ignition, but not start the engine. buckle and unbuckle the seat belt 15 to 20 times for about 25 to 30 seconds. need repeated if battery gets disconnected.
Subaru got this right. Title is correct. Thanks Sarah. For me the highlights are... no sunroof, 6speed manual trans, turbo boxer engine, steel suspension and steering components and steel driveshaft.
I just bought one before I saw Sarah's review. After owning and loving two Porsches, this car is a technical update. I would describe it in one word: RIGID or with two words, STRICTLY BUSINESS
Ahhh… love the glee in your expression when you get a 6-speed manual and rip-it e-brake to play with! The cowl induction is Jethro Tull approved, BTW. (You might need to be a boomer to get that!) 😉 Thank you for enduring that oppressive heat while still producing your usual excellent review. Thank you, Sarah. 👍👍👍
Here in Australia and NZ, we have a VB WRX wagon for sale right now, same engine, but slightly less on power. Google Subaru New Zealand for the full info!
Always love a manual review! They never should have discontinued the STI. Imagine the FA24 tuned to at least 320hp with the same chassis just pushed even further. The reviews would be off the charts positive. The current WRX does seem like a great car. If they would do a little to improve the aesthetics, the car would be even more popular.
Honestly, I think the FA24 feel really under worked, I wouldn't doubt it could do 350-400hp safely enough to sell it as a production power level. The split case transmission on the other hand I doubt is good for much over the current torque level from a warranty'able standpoint.
It's good to know someone is still making decent analogue cars for people who still care about driving. I love how you say counterpart. Keep up the good work Sarah.
Love this channel. It’s so great to see a knowledgeable auto commentator without the bro-boy bravado. Huge favour to ask…can someone edit a super cut of brake tests? My favourite part of every review is “oh geez, whoa, wow”
Love her reference to James Bond regarding the S007 Potenza tires. I've pushed them pretty hard and like James, they don't give, there is serious grip - like James holding a girl.
In Australia, we don't have a TR spec. We have a similar spec car, but with a large wing instead of the HK sound system. Our marketing calls it the Club Spec.
I just bought a '24 Limited. Couple fun facts. In Japan, the fuse cover IS a coin tray and the JDM part drops right in. The seatbelt chime can be disabled by buckling and unbuckling the seat belt 20 times in 30 seconds. It is absolutely annoying that it has wireless android, but not wireless charging. The trunk is tubbed for a spare tire that only the Canadians get, we get well wishes and an inflation pump.
Canada gets them shipped from Japan factory, not US factory, so it is surprising to know Japan gets no full spare! Do you need to buckle unbuckle with individual button press, or just in out of the buckle?
Love your videos!! Just bought this and I love how this one drives and got premium stereo with single large interface radio controller instead of the split screen from previous years!
I used to call my time stationed in Omaha NE during the summer to be a blast furnace. Every day over 90 degrees and at least 20 mph wind... many days more than that. I can only imagine what its like in AZ in that heat. I've never been to AZ during the summer months.
Excellent review of an excellent car. All commentary is spot-on. The last if its kind; glad it’s still with us. On the seat belt chime - can be eliminated - click the seat belt like 25 times in 30 seconds and it’s gone!!!!! Great stuff, Sarah.
I owned a 2007 WRX TR and it was cheaper than the standard WRX since it really was tuner ready. I ended up giving it to my Son since it was his dream car. If I buy a WRX again it would be the base model since I am still a stick shift user on a budget. The BRZ is out since my last one(2022 Limited) literally died in a puddle. Right now I drive a 2022 Crosstrek 6 speed that I bought because at the time all my local dealers had $5,000 markups on the WRX. That ended me being a loyal Subaru customer even though I have owned 9 of them. As always nice video.
Hope you can get in another one, sir. Happily, the discounting started in '23 so I picked a Base '23 that was $4,500 off from the "peak" pricing they had. Just insane!
@@twystedhumour In my area they are still too expensive since they seem to be selling well. Next time I get an oil change I will sit down with them to see if I can get a deal.
Subarus have always had a place in my heart. I was hoping to get a rally special stage on this review. Wanted to see a Scandinavian flick with a 4wd drift. It would be nice to see more Manuals as options in the rest of the Subaru lineup.
Fun fact ,in Australia we get JDM Subaru and Honda products. Only recently did I find out that the USA has subsidiary car plants. Once we had sub plants for (GM) Holden,Ford and Mitsubishi, but priced ourselves out of the market with economic factors.
This may trigger some people. But, the correct pronunciation of Subaru is Su = sound like Sue Ba = sound like Ba Ba Black Sheep (the Ba sound only) Ru = sound like Rue Anyway, nice review. Keep it up.
I totally get bonus points for rarity. I bought, and over paid for, a 2018 Forester Black Edition simply for the fact that it was only available for that model year. It's more or less a Premium with a few Touring and XT trim features. But they're rare. At least in my area.
I wouldn't mind an EV sti...as an optional alternative to the rumble box we all love. I can tell you want you can do with all the blank switches. 1. would be the switch for your intercooler water sprayer. 2. would be for the rally lights on the crash bar that you would install on the front 3. would be to turn on/off the blinking 4th brake light or rear fog light at the bottom of the rear diffuser 4. would be a ridiculously bright led light bar just at the top or bottom of the rear glass, whichever is a more effective height to catch drivers behind you right at eye level, if they decide to tailgate or flash their highs or driving behind you with highs on. Preferrably laser pointers right into their iris but that needs cameras and eye tracking and computers and software n stuff, or a little person that you would pay weekly to sit in your back seat facing backwards with a laser pointer in hand.
I wish they would up the power. Until then I’m very happy with my 22 base. My first brand new car, that I only drive on weekends. Just hit 5,400 miles today. I plan to keep it low mileage and garaged.
just found out the seat belt warning can be turned off. hit start x2 without foot on the brake press the seat belt button in insert seat belt x20. no more warning
At 8.55 Bore and stroke, and compression ratio must be wrong numbers, this would be 2l. According to Wikipedia its 94x 86 mm and 10.6:1. Probably just a c&p error, you say the correct numbers at 9.33 :-).
Love your work Sarah. The only reviewer I have seen getting down and dirty under the car (hairy cardboard indeed). Shame we probably wont get the TR in RHD for Australia.
I want to love this, but I've had my heart broken. I got really soured on Subaru when my dealership maintained 2015 Outback was such a POS. Input shaft leak, exhaust manifold leak, wonky electrical woes, valve cover leaks, wheel seal leaks and a bad wheel bearing.. power window cluster failure..all before 75k. Now at just 130k I can't get it smogged because it's having cam position sensor issues the dealer can't figure out. I've been a Subaru fan since my 1980 gl hatchback. Loved my 98 Forrester and 2003 WRX.
Dealer maintenance is like calling a fast food diet healthy. Don’t let the people who sell you a new car also maintain the one you first gave them money for.
@@SarahnTunedhear you on that. I’ve been the best thing to happen mechanically for my cars. Mechanics and dealerships especially don’t want to bother with proper diagnosis anymore.
Yeh I don't trust others to touch my car. Every time someone works on anything, anywhere I go, they mess something up. I'll put up with it for free work.
Toyota has joined forces with Subaru. Subaru has a long history for dependability and many advances in all-wheel drive systems. With this Toyota infusion, Subaru has room for improvement and growth. However, it is a process and there are growing pains in this industry. Sadly, you have questionable service at this dealership and their source of parts. After the pandemic, I saw some of the dealerships using aftermarket parts from Napa, Orielly and AutoZone. Why? Their OE parts were unavailable and in short supply. We began to see some of the residual work at our import shop. To this day, we’re still seeing a shortage of OEM parts. We have to spend time searching for parts that were once available within 1-2 days.
Side note: I forgot to update part of the graphic in the video on the engine specs from the Maverick Tremor.. some of you may catch this. Either way, I say the correct specs verbally.

Now at just 130k I can't get it smogged because it's having cam position sensor issues the dealer can't figure out. I've been a Subaru fan since my 1980 gl hatchback. Loved my 98 Forrester and 2003 WRX.
Try the new Mazdas they are awesome
The only person I'd take advice from when it comes to Subaru's Sarah definitely knows her Shubaru
