14:12 "... that has always been true with the Z, it has never been an affordable bargain car as far as a sports car goes." Well, maybe since the 1990's, but prior to your birth Sarah, the original 1970 240Z was about $3,600. Much less than close comparable 1970 Camaro or Mustang, not to mention the target Jaguar XK-E. Inflation adjusted, the 240Z was just $28,500 (😲) in today money.

Love how you turn on the lights during the garage portion so we get a sense of its nighttime appearance. The very first Z-cars here in the U.S. under the Datsun banner were fairly spartan and low-priced but exciting sports cars. It wasn’t until the ZX generation that they started to go upmarket. I’ve owned two and like you have a soft spot for the Z. Despite that, a very fair, unbiased review presented in your typically excellent fashion. Thank you, Sarah. 👍👍👍

It's rare and refreshing to see someone say, hey, I don't care what the numbers might be, I like this car better than the other one. People who actually love to drive, and have self confidence, choose cars that make them feel connected, excited and that give them a sense of joy each time they drive. Unless you actually put completely stock, factory cars on a track then a second or so between two cars on a track is completely irrelevant. Drag races sell views but stop light heroics aren't really the reason why most people who can afford performance cars buy them. Most reviewers judge a car based on the vacation standard of review. What that means is they are trying to do the automotive equivalent of judging a town they vacationed in as a great long term destination based on a one week vacation. All they do is play with these cars for a week in situations the vast majority of buyers will never be in and that they, the reviewer, would almost never do in real life. The low powered Mazda Miata is constantly rated as one of the great drivers cars because it's fun to drive and you can use all of it's potential on the street where ninety eight percent of them will spend their entire lives. Same for Mustangs, Z's, Porsche's. Ferrari's and Corvette's. The difference between the Miata and those cars is that as you go up in performance you can't use a greater and greater percentage of their capability in the real world. You might think you can until you get them on a track and realize what's left you haven't tapped into. The last 370Z was a great street car with almost all of it's potential available on the back roads. The mid 1990's BMW M3 was almost magic in it's steering and handling feel and BMW hasn't replicated either in a long time. The New Z, even though less of it's performance can be used on the street, is still a blast to drive with great feel and driver engagement and if you want a better experience in a Supra go get it's parent BMW M240I instead.
I am a 370z owner, and had waited for a decade and more for the next model. Imagine my disappointment when I sat in the RZ34 at a car show and, from the drivers seat, not much had changed. Same vents, door cards, handles, overall dash shape, I felt like I couldn't justify spending 50-60 grand on a brand new car and have it be so much like the one I just got out of.
If Nissan could've offered it at 35K like they originally planned would've been a nice fan service car and the parts bin nature would've been acceptable but yes not at 60 K Still trying to wrap my head around the fact that a Camaro or a mustang is a better performance bargain than a Z, the DARK HORSE mustang is about the same money as this Nismo, 500 horsepower and it's available in manual. "inconceivable"! 😂
I've owned 3 Zs, including the 370Z. I so much wanted this new Z to be a hit, but it's disappointing. Its not particularily easy to find, especially without ADMs, its performance is underwhelming and the price is pretty high for what you get. The most recent one I've seen, the dealer wanted $62k including ADM for a non Nismo. At $68k you can get into a new mid-engine C8 corvette which is superior in every way... which is ultimately what I ended up with.
Great review! I love that you would choose this car because of character. In everyday life, that's way more important than technical perfection and what the specs are on paper. Also, easily the best looking Z since the original 240.
"Now Sport+ does allow for quite a bit of rear-end play..." "Underneath the hood is the VR30DDTT engine..." LOL. Between those hilarious asides and the insightful driving impressions, these reviews are must-see web TV. Random observations... The braking test seemed unusually short, like shortest stopping distance ever? Amazing how the same components wind up in competing makes. That tells you how complex modern cars are.
Was able to scoop one up slightly used. Only 117 miles. Craziest situation where wife got upset at husband for buying the car without consulting her. My dealer bought it back from them and I got it CPO before all fees for $64,960.
I'm glad you finally got to review this car. In my life I've owned 126 cars and the old 240Z I had was probably the mosty impressive all around car of them all. They have ever since been one of my own favorites. Thanks for the review.
100% agree... Toyota chooses a BMW engine for the Supra while Lotus chooses Toyota's supercharged engine for the Emira which has received excellent reviews & sounds better than any of them... All engines are in the same power & torque range... if I want a BMW, I'll buy a BMW... It destroys the pure nostalgia of collecting your favored manufacturer when they Frankenstein a car together... Nissan kept it pure... Respect.
The lotus is atleast 100-120k alone while the supra sits at 50-55k new. At that point, nostalgia is thrown out the window when they're are much better cars to get at a much cheaper price range, along with the mk5, with manual also. Sure, nissan kept its heritage, but they cheaped out on basically using a 370z with a new body running with a q series V6 and called it a day and ask 65K for a nismo with interior parts from a 370 that barely beats a 50k mk5 with it being nearly as the Q60 with no option for a manual and not even bringing up the issues of people even finding or trying to get a dealer to sell them one that isn't mark up to the moon also.
Choosing this car is always an irrational decision because this is one of the old school JDM modern classic. The value of this car will for sure go up over time. I also bet that the next generation Z will be full electric. That is pretty much the last of the Z bloodline. Nice work Sara~
Always great reviews Sarah, and love the subtle innuendos and humor. I laugh every time and really enjoy and appreciate the the detailed work you put forth.
That beautiful, flowing design is a true evolution of the original Z, which was less rounded but similarly purposeful. This great review is a keeper; sure to be watched over and over.
I bought my first Nimso product earlier this year, a 2015 Nissan GT-R Nimso Edition with the optional titanium exhaust what a car! Thanks for the review, Sarah!
Nissan designers did a great job on this 2024 Nismo. Classic body lines that are timeless. This car looks much better than the Supra. I don’t think Nissan is going to make a lot of these Nismos so they will probably appreciate in value.
I just love my Saturday morning treat in Aussie. Sarah you are the best thing to start my weekend (your Friday). I love the presentation, your personality and the professionalism of the videos you and your friend create. I have to agree with the assessment of the Nissan...having driven them in the eighties under extreme conditions (high speed and constant braking) the Nissans always stood up to the task whilst the other well known brands failed in many areas. Loved the expression on your face with the braking test and giving the "beans". No wonder you are a massive favorite amongst the subscribers. Hugs from down under.
The struggle to not make an inappropriate comment about "rear end play" was real for Sarah. And that's why I'm here, for the best car reviews on the net (and her amazing builds).
Thanks to my little progress in English I finally understood one of your puns about vr30DDTT...😂 At last a real sports car, the automatic gearbox certainly makes it perform better. I hope you have a few more days to enjoy it.
What a gorgeous car, always liked Nissan sports cars, and this one does not disappoint. Pretty much everything about this car is a major yes! Thank you for another great review!
I had a 350 and really enjoyed it. There were 2 to things that were a bit annoying; the rear strut tower was a real pain taking up a lot of space and the clutch wasn't very forgiving when leaving in first gear. But it was fun!!
Nice review Sarah. None of the other content creators I have watched have mentioned the structural differences between the Standard and NISMO versions, so well done.
Such a fun, detailed and to the point review! So glad to watch your videos, and those jokes were fire, you're one of the greatest car content creators on here Sarah, and I appreciate you
I love the technical run down you do at the start of your videos and actually showing the chassis/driveline. Awesome stuff! This Nismo version really seems to hit the spot especially in the subtle design changes, I'd prefer a manual but I am sure this transmission is very impressive to drive.
Great review, and provides much more of a real driving impression than others I've seen. I think one reason people have an issue with the price is that it's not that much less than sports cars from other brands that provide much more performance. Of course, those other cars cost much more once you add all the creature comforts, but if you stick with just options that make it faster, this Z is just too close in price. Nonetheless, I'm happy they're still making fun cars like this that run on exploding dinosaurs 😀
I loved my 370z nismo..but the nismo z is just a rebadged 370 z not very impressive..so i went with the GR supra 6spd manual and dont regret it!!..b58 is far more powerful and potential🤙🏻🤙🏻
Hi, Sarah. Great review. I remember the original Z back in 70's with Roger Clark driving one in the original RAC Rally of Great Britain. It was a straight 6 with adjustable timing switches in the cockpit. Only trouble was there were only FIVE adjusters!!😂😂. Keep your great videos coming.❤
Greetings from Sweden Sarah! Best car reviews I've ever seen on UA-cam! Told in detail by someone who obviously knows her stuff. You also have the ability to review in such a relaxed and humorous way that it adds that little something extra to the review.
Another great review thanks! Now, you need to be getting to the track and really putting some of these cars through their paces. I can only imagine how much fun you would have.
There is a lot to like about this car. But I really feel it is overpriced. It cost more than a GR Supra, it cost more than a Dark Horse. Both of which are available with manuals. But, as always, another fantastic review :)
I was watching a UA-cam video early on the history of the Datsun / Nissan "Z" cars. I remember when they were new. Sad, I know. I didn't know they were still making them. Love you humor and reviews.
Ms. Sarah, you are one of four or five automotive creators I follow almost religiously. Even though I don’t at my advanced age to ever buy another car in my life I enjoy your road tests and especially your builds. As long as you continue to film, I will continue to watch.
Top notch review, Sarah. I can't say I've seen a more professional and detailed overview by anyone else. Ever. I was pleased to hear the word "sport " and not "schport ." Just my personal bias, but again, in the world of car reviews, it "up's your game." Now some 0-60 acceleration times and 60-0 stopping times, and you have car reviews locked down big time. Nissan must be thrilled with you right now. Fabulous job!
Being a trained mechanic ,with over 50 plus years experience, i cannot understand why modern vehicles still use smaller brakes on the rear ! it would be bonus for brake performance , with modern ABS systems to control it !
You are better than Top Gear now - Excellent review! I have had a soft spot for the Z-cars since I was a kid; one of my favorite toy cars was a Matchbox Superkings Datsun 240 Z, grey with a satin black hood, which is what I would want on the Nismo Z too - a satin black hood, like a rally car. That waould look great! Thank you for what you do and Stay Awesome1
@@leonb2637 then you might not have seen the current Top Gear, which is far less silly, much better but still get's beaten by Sarah... (I do agree that especially US Top Gear was painfully cringy to watch as they tried too hard to emulate what Clarkson, Hammond and May did. )
Looking at the tailpipe tips, the soot is impressive for a brand new car. Either it burns oil or rich fuel trim... Either way I am watching to see long-term results.
Back in 2018, before I started truck driving, I was a test driver and got a chance to drive the 2019 Nismo "Juke". That was a *_really_* fun little car with a 6 speed manual and insane gas mileage. Too bad it's super fugly! I had to drive the same 21 mile route over and over for 8 hours. So I just kept working on my lap times to not be so bored.😂
Great review Sarah, spot on the inflation currency we do get paid crap and cannot afford a sports car like the Nismo Z, hopefully, I can trade my 370z someday for a Nismo Z.

Great review and braking test. Give it the Beans!
Ms. Sarah, you are one of four or five automotive creators I follow almost religiously. Even though I don’t at my advanced age to ever buy another car in my life I enjoy your road tests and especially your builds. As long as you continue to film, I will continue to watch.
That is a great color for that car - to point of actually improving its looks.
Thanks for keeping it real.
Being a trained mechanic ,with over 50 plus years experience, i cannot understand why modern vehicles still use smaller brakes on the rear ! it would be bonus for brake performance , with modern ABS systems to control it !
6:10 you've handled a difficult situation with perfect aplomb!
We come for the zanny humor, Sarah. That's why we love you. Also, I like the pewter grey color of this Z. Ex-Navy boy here...
Looking very NISMO yourself today Sarah 😀 great video and have a very Happy Christmas 🎄🎅⛄❄️
There is no Equal to Sarah's Car Reviews on the "InterWeb". Bring "sexy", cute, and clever too is a big Bonus!! Merry Christmas !
I gave up on Top Gear, both the UK and US versions, as too often the episodes were about destroying vehicles.
@@leonb2637 then you might not have seen the current Top Gear, which is far less silly, much better but still get's beaten by Sarah... (I do agree that especially US Top Gear was painfully cringy to watch as they tried too hard to emulate what Clarkson, Hammond and May did. )
Hooray for the pause on 'rear end play"
Love your channel
You make the best car videos on UA-cam, and you are absolutely right about wages!
Maybe it's the color or maybe it's the NISMO version, but the grill looks way better on this than what I've seen before
Awesome production value. Tech spec is my favourite segment. Finally proper automotive tech doing comprehensive technical reviews
we love terrible jokes! (they are not terrible at all) Cheers Sarah!
Your financial comments are spot on. Well said.
Looking at the tailpipe tips, the soot is impressive for a brand new car. Either it burns oil or rich fuel trim... Either way I am watching to see long-term results.
Direct injection, cold startup.
My 2013 Mitsubishi diesel has cleaner exhaust tips than that.
This car looks insanely better than the regular Z. This one looks like a finished car
