- In the first official episode of our Subnautica series, we're taking a huge step forward in our underwater journey. Today, we’re building the Seamoth, our very first submersible, and diving deeper into the unknown.
Join me as we gather resources, construct the Seamoth, and explore the eerie and fascinating alien structures. Each dive is filled with awe and a bit of fear as we push further into uncharted territory, confronting my thalassophobia and discovering the secrets of Planet 4546B.

To add to the people talking about how it helped their phobia: Playing Subnautica got me to the point of managing my thalassophobia well enough that I could finally go snorkelling for the first time with my (absolute mermaid, diving-as-a-hobby) sisters. It scared the absolute shit out of me for the entire duration but it was so, so beautiful and incredible and I wouldn't have been able to do it at all without this game.
It still freaks me out but I'll play Subnautica to relax these days. The deeper water will probably never stop being terrifying but all the shallow areas feel so much safer than they did when I first started playing.
Weird and wonderful that a game like this can have such a substantial impact on our lives.
You are definitely so brave. 😊
Also uhhh... You can just replace the battery in the flashlight, you don't need to make a whole new flashlight.
As someone without thalassophobia who's played it 39857328957328 times, the deep water in Subnautica is STILL scary! So even those of us without the ocean phobia don't have it easy down there lmao
No way this is amazing! It's incredible that the game was able to let you experience this with your sisters IRL. You're very brave for finishing the game AND then going into the water. I love it 💖✨
I had no idea this game had such an impact, I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens to my fear by the end of the playthrough. Do you still go snorkelling or was this a one time test the water thing?
Also, I wish I saw this comment before recording Ep 2 😅
Good for you to face your fears. Subnautica is my favorite game the story is so good and the emersion is great. Hope you enjoy every part if it. You got this!
Thank you! I am having so much fun with the game, phobia or no phobia, it's incredible so far 💜
Just found your channel, I really love seeing new people play Subnautica for the first time! Look forward to seeing the rest of the series :D
I'm glad you're here 😀 Thank you so much for watching 💜💜
You dont need to build a whole new flashlight when it runs out, you can just exchange the battery.
Yes, let's go VahLanayru. Thank you for uploading.
Of course! Thank you so much for watching 🤗
I cant wait for the next episode. This series is Amazing so far. YIPPEEE!
I had an aneurism when you didn’t scan the seamoth at the lifepod
When I was editing this, so did I 🤦♀️
just found your channel and i am enjoying you Subnautica play through so far, and your adorable reactions, you are in for a treat while playing Subnautica it is such a great game
I'm glad you're enjoying the videos and are here for the journey with me! 💜
Word of the wise, the moonpool really helps mod the vehicles so you can survive better with them. You can get like 2 mods for the sea moth in the aurora but if you want more or different ones youll need a moon pool
Ep 2 is coming out tomorrow, stay tuned 👀 Although I wish I had seen this before recording lmao
@@vahlanayru in that case another tip would be if you ever plan to go exploring the Aurora, keep track of any codes you pick up in your pda, they are needed to open doors but you need to put in the numbers manually, on my first play through I was running around looking for codes when I didn't realise I had them in my pda
You should really check out the PDA entries sometimes, ESPECIALLY from abandoned PDAs
they sometimes are required to advance the story later on and the abandoned PDAs are in most cases voiced
I completely forget about this! 😩 I wish I'd seen this before I recorded Ep 2, but we'll definitely sit and listen to them in Ep 3
Quick tip I’m pretty sure u can use the repair tool to fix the seamoss
If I could turn back time, it would be so I can read this before I recorded Episode 2 🫠
@@vahlanayru 😭well atleast you know now the main use of the repair tool is to fix vehicles and things of that nature
Wish you good luck when you reach the end of the game. It's crazy how you fight your fear, not in real life, but in a game. You deserve more.
Thank you! I'm excited to see where the story leads. and thank you very much 💜
You can make a scanner room to easily search for minerals
Noted, thank you! ✍
🤗💖🥰
💜💜💜
I play this with VR.
Much better because you can't look away. lol
Torture, absolute torture 😂
No spoiler hint: You can go into wrecks, like the one where you found the seamoth parts. There are always a door or an opening, and there can be a lot of good stuff inside!
Just found your channel and this playthrough, and i have to say you are awesome. Definetly subscribing, and cant wait for you to explore and experience this game!
I have played it a lot myself, always a good and fun game to come back to.
Thanks for the tips! I saw the door in the wreck when editing and my mind was blown 🤯
I'm so glad you found the channel and are enjoying the videos so far, I can't wait to see what's in store. Thank you so much for subscribing 💜

Yes fire, yes you are 😅
NO by the defenition of weird you are not weird for not being scared of the ocean!
What a way to find your channel, amazing stuff
Welcome!! Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it 💜
I'm very excited to see your blind playthrough. Subnautica is an excellent survival-crafting game and I envy that you get to play it for the first time ( I wish I could do that again ).
But if I could make one little criticism, you don't need to cut from one comment to the next in this format. On these long Let's Plays, it's okay if you just let the take roll for a bit, even if there's silence. Jump-cutting to the next 'action' continuously really feels like getting bombarded after a while, and it can break the continuity and disorient the viewer. It's okay if you let the quiet moments play out, even if it seems like nothing's happening.
Again, really looking forward to this play-through. I hope you enjoy this game as much as I did (even if it scared me to death).
Thank you for watching! I hope you enjoyed the video and I'm glad you're coming along for the journey with me. I really appreciate the feedback,. Noted, thanks! ✍
Hint: Scan everything (and read the databank entries!)
I keep forgetting to read the databank entries! 🤦♀️ A little reminder now lives on a post it note, on my monitor
I wish you would stop saying you have thalassophobia... i have my own phobia and i don't just singalong while it has been triggered. The gameplay is fun. The game is genius. My problem is your misunderstanding of phobias.
please stop whining and squealing, its super annoying (see intro)
I mean she’s playing a game that revolves around a big fear for her, can’t blame her for it
