I used Shakespeare rods for fly fishing 45 years ago, and use Shakespeare rods for my sea fishing now good quality and not too expensive... Great vid Jansen.
Couldn’t agree more the fish don’t care if you have a zziplex or a cheap combo. I’m still using a Dawia moon raker my mum bought me 50 yrs ago 😁 bless her and still catching fish
I have been using this combo for my youth club and coaching work for several years. Not only do they cast well and catch fish, they stand the test of time too!
Excellent video. I miss your location fishing videos Jansen because you're so good at explaining everything. Good starter kit, is cheap but doesn't look it. You must really know that mark to choose wellies instead of waders. If I tried that I would 👢ose a boot to the sticky mud 😂
I always recommend Shakespeare tackle for beginners on a budget, yes more expensive than bottom budget but that little extra will give you a rod and reel that’s more than adequate . I’ve got some 15 yr old 12ft Salt beach casters that I still use on occasion because I enjoy them .
Ive never spent a huge amount of money on gear. 2 Icon Elite rods (one match one power) and 2 Fathom 15SD reels. What i have works, and not looking to change it for Ziplex and Century rods any time soon👍
had some nice cod fishing off there november time few years ago comfy mark if you dont mind the mud, rod looks perfect fort he price see if i cant get my little nephew out abit more to get him hooked on fishing then maybe get him a pair for his starter rods rather than borrowing one of my rod that he strugles with
I got a sonik vader xs 13ft for £50 from VMO about 3 years ago still going strong it cast well and I have some pretty decent fish on it. No need for £500 zippy unless it's a ego thing 😂
A little trivia came my way today and I remembered this comment. Not sure where that memory came from but the Metro was actually launched in 1980 as the Austin Mini Metro! Jansen

I remember using a ron Thompson zensorflex to cast over 200yards at n.w.s.a...£19..99..took a few scalps that day 😁125 g was gone 🚀
Awsome video mate, shame about missing that bite but goes to show you don't need to spend a fortune 👌
What is a Mini Metro 😂😂 Nice one Jan, cant fault that for the money 👍
Great for any youngster wanting to start fishing
Great vid... Best learn to cast on a cheap rod to start off with, would not want to snap expensive rod.
Nice video!
As said you don’t need to spend much money to get fishing!
I have the same rod
Just looked on your website and there more than 29.99
