Another brilliant video, really enjoy them, sooooo informative and enjoyable to watch. Love the bite indication shots, makes me realise just how many bites I’ve not spotted in the past and how many fish I have missed landing 🤦🏻
So easy to miss a bite! I actually sit and watch the bite cam the next day and always spot a bite or two I didn't see on the night!! Importance of timing your casts and not leaving the rig out there for ages.
Nice to see some flat fish at night…. Love Flounders … bite,s are good… Nice to see your videos are helping so many people…. You’ve started something now Tom….😎👍

There's always been trawlers for as long as I've known. Annoying I know as the fishing couple be so much better, but it's still pretty good so I just ignore them and enjoy my fishing. Getting upset about them will only spoil our evenings.
Following your urfe rig video I made a couple and went to Bistro Beach last night. Loads of anglers there, think we’ve all been watching your excellent videos. Anyway ended up with a couple of decent plaice and a reasonable dab all on ragworm. Odd couple of tangles but general no problems.
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 - not really, not to the same extent as the UK. We have Flounders but they are rarely caught on rod and line, mostly speared or netted. Similarly Sole but again these are rarely caught on rod and line, those that are caught are usually by accident.
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 - I suspect a bit of both. People that target Flounders tend to net them in the estuaries. Another factor is bait - we do not have lugworm here and only have small ragworm.
Hi tom learn alot from your videos. Can I ask if u can use circle hooks to stop deep hooking on flatties and also is it necessary to strike at bites or do fish hook themselves. Many thx
Hi mate. Striking is mostly a waste of time in beach fishing. The fish will hook themselves if the rig and bait presentation are correct. You can use circles with a dongle for flatties, I keep dabbling with this myself, I can't quite decide if I like it or not!
Thanks for the video . I see a lot of people using a lot of "bling" on their rigs for flatfish . Do you use beads etc at certain times or conditions ? Or not at all ?
Sorry for late reply! I'm not a fan of loads of bling, but will often add a single high viz bead, or lumi bead at night. Keep things simple and put the right bait in the right place, that's a good motto to adopt.
Southbourne continuously surprises me. I'd pick a building tide with high on dusk, but the weekend before fished very well for the plaice on a very small tide!
Great video tom that sole looked a lovely fish what was it 1lb - 1 1/2 lb and that 1st plaice looked nice as well and the flounder looked in good condition top angling tom
I had a 12' urfe rig made of 0.25 fluoro tied to size 6 wormer hooks. A single white pop up on the end snood only, nothing on the droppers. Bait was rag tails, would have preferred maddies but didn't have time to get any. I also had a 2up 1down flapper, like I used for the flats, but again size 6 wormers to 0.25 fluoro.
@@russlee5500 they're very much up in the water at the moment as you can see them on the surface. Both the urfes and long flappers will cover a lot of water though, not necessarily off the bottom that much, and will add natural movement which is helpful.
Just a quick question Tom, why did you choose flappers and not urfe rigs? I'm trying to give urfes a go but never sure where or when they're best suited. Brilliant video by the way.
Mainly because I had flappers in my bag! Lol It would have been a perfect night for the urfes as it was nice and calm and I was fishing for flatties. I did have an urfe ready for the mullet, but slightly lighter and smaller hooks than I wanted for the flats.

Awesome! Sole and small eyed ray, never caught either before. Ok, that's it, I need to go fish Southbourne beach.
You definitely do mate! We'll tick those species off your list for you.

Loads of information to help us all, very much appreciated. Do you have a favourite type of tide, big/small/building/falling for Southbourne?
Southbourne continuously surprises me. I'd pick a building tide with high on dusk, but the weekend before fished very well for the plaice on a very small tide!
Weirdly I've been fishing next to both of you guys on my last 2 sessions. That was me with the undulate last Sunday at Hurst.

I didn't weigh it to be honest. Probably about a lb, was a nice plump fish.
Really enjoying this seasons run of videos..thanks
Golding greys … how long are they around? What is their season?
Thanks again 👍
To be honest they only really showed in decent numbers last year, so we're learning as we go, but they certainly hung around for a few months.
How were you going to target the golden greys if they had shown up? Nice little session and video. Cheers.
