Dragon Age & Mass Effect are respectfully mature games intended for a mature audience, my content will feature such themes, so please be aware of that when watching. Thanks!
This feels like some much needed good news. Having a new set of eyes looking at the game, especially the eyes of a veteran developer from the previous games with indepth knowledge of lore and world, will give the team some great feedback and insight to improve Dreadwolf even more. 😊
We’ve got a shocking update as former BioWare executive producer Mark Darrah has returned to work on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf as a consultant to rally post-production. As always, I’ve got the full scoop, so let’s jump in and explore this entirely! Let me know your thoughts on this one!
I mean at least one parent has to stay till birth right. We all want a healthy amazing AAA arpg, that beautifully conclude the serie!
Mark also commented that he's "an amplifier, not a saviour" so maybe we can read between the lines that the game, in his opinion, does not need saving and has his approval. This sounds good. His insight and experience will give the game a good final polish.
The way I interpret this is - I am here to expand on what exists, I cannot necessarily save the game. I hope my interpretation is falsified in due time.
@@Ramdas_Devadiga additionally if we read into what some of Mark's replies on the comments to his UA-cam vids suggest, it does seem like Dreadwolf will be more of action RPG rather than the traditional DA game. I wish the studio the best, as I love the series, but I'm not as hopeful or even invested as I would've been
This is very exciting indeed! I was sad to hear when Mark had left. Yet knowing that he asked to come back, and that the Dragon Age team are welcoming him as a consultant, is just the good news I needed to hear today. ✨
This is EXCELLENT news!! (His video also sheds some light on his return, which is VERY reassuring) Mark Darrah returning AND BioWare going ALL HANDS ON DECK like they did with the Citadel DLC back in 2013 REALLY is the BEST DA:D news we've had in a LONG time!!
I absolutely did not see this coming but I'm not complaining :D I'm glad Bioware welcomed him back at least in an advisory role. I just hope they're able to take the time they need to make Dreadwolf as amazing as possible. Thanks for the update Jackdaw :)
I don’t WANT to let my hype for this game and franchise to cloud my judgment but I’m feeling hopeful. The more I hear about the development for this game, the more I think the team really cares about this new Dragon Age game. As much as I want to play Dreadwolf, they can honestly take as much time as they want with it if it means they get it right.
This pushed up the timetable for the game. Dreadwolf 2023
This is as good news for longtime fans as Dreadwolf being confirmed to be a single player experience.
Now how crazy it would be if David Gaider came back as consultant for writting?
That would be amazing!!!
I would completely lost in dragon age news if it werent for these videos. Bless 🙏
With his return to help looks like that will ease the minds of many with is experience with the franchise. Something to look forward to.
I'm so excited about this 🙌
Jackdaw, I do believe you deserve more subscribers. Likewise, you deserve more views per episode, and/or video. Dragon age and Mass Effect is such big and caring Fanbase. And you’re one of the most influential channels to talk about either.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that! Honestly, I can't believe I have a community over 29k subs, that for me is amazing and I'm so thankful for, everyday! Thank you for your kind words
How exciting! Hoping for more DAD trailers and marketing soon
I've been waiting for you to post this video since I saw the breaking news. My gut reaction was "about time they pull teams to help on Dragon Age for once."
But seriously, I'm excited!
I saw your thumbnail and my jaw dropped.
I think this is great news, and much welcomed by those of us who have been concerned about the veteran dev turnover.
I can't wait if they can do a whole playthrough then all needs be done is polish and release I have been waiting 10 years for this game it's gonna be awesome 😎😎😎😎
Hopeful for a December release but also anticipating a Feb/March release date :)
Trying to temper my hype for this game is becoming more difficult. I know we should all go in with no expectations but I've been feeling hopeful.
I was super suprised by this. Not only that but he made a video which brought back alot of faith to the game! Super Excited
Hell yeah!!!! I have watched his videos on his page and he has such a great sense of what works and what doesn’t work.
Looks like he has faith in the current team, but is lending his knowledge and experience to make sure continuity is achieved and the polish is going to the parts that matter to the players. Which makes sense, he knows what us players have been responding to best over the years
Darrah! Darrah! Darrah! *chanting excitedly*
Amazing news. I have a good feeling about Dreadwolf.
I appreciate you keeping us posted! ✨
I really want the next game now, haha. I hope we have a 2023 release instead. I also hope the game is one of the most amazing things ever after waiting this long, lol.
So glad to have Mark back!
Oh my gosh thank goodness for this news 😅. Phew.
Love the thumbnail art.
I was v excited to hear that Mark is returning to consult
I'm pumped for dreadwolf but playing Mass Effect Legendary Edition has me hoping for a Dragon Age remaster as well.
Been waiting for this video😅😅! Wasn't even gonna read the articles online!!
Thank you so much!!
Definitely glad he's back. If you watch his videos, you can clearly see he loves the games and he did acknowledge the issues BioWare had developing their latest projects. Of all the people who left, and all the new people I don't really know, he is the one that adds to the pool of confidence. Of course he is just one person, but I'm still happy he's back for Dreadwolf at least.
OMG! No way! My jaw dropped this is great! 🥰🖤🙏
Just glad to get news!! Make it awesome, BioWare!!!
He posted a video about this on his channel. You can also ask him questions under video comments section
First one here Jack! Glad to see you again! l hope this is a good omen for us at last!
this is such wonderful news ! mark has so much expertise and knowledge of the franchise im sure this will yield spectacular results
Very good news hopefully. I have been worried lately with loads of staff leaving and the interesting leaks. Hopefully this'll get the game where it needs to be lore wise like you said!
Gamemaster Mark we'll keep the lore intact👌🏿
Wow finally some good/promising news despite the lack of content even after all these years 👏
I think this is great news! I always liked his contribution to the games. I definitely think its a little unusual that he approached them. He might have overheard an information about a possible struggle that the team might have had and therefore he wanted to help them resolve it? Seems like the most likely option. Whatever the reason was, im glad we'll have even more of his presence in Dreadwolf
At least some trailers that show stuff like what does magic combat look like now
Makers breath, I chose a good year, 2022 to fully get into the dragon age trilogy and not just inquisition
I'm very glad to see that Mark is back on the team, even if he's more hands off this time, that he was actually the one to reach out and that he seems confident in the state of the game.
It's good news and it alleviates my worries somewhat. I hope he and the rest of the team will have a good time working on the game.
Lawdy, we’ve been waiting for so long with very little shown to us.
Jack if you had to guess when do you think we get a trailer or gameplay even? Sometime this year ?
Summer this year maybe? Hopefully!?
Just curious do you think we will get some gameplay scenes at the end of this year?
I think we will yeah!
Its great to hear that they are really pouring effort into prioritizing DA:D after so may years spent feeling like it was biowares unfavourite child
The basic summary:
Mark Darrah returned as a consultant for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf
The Mass Effect team is helping with production and polishing
Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has been in post-production since September
EA is optimizing and bolstering the team
BioWare is taking its time with the game to refine it for fans
The core Mass Effect team is still in pre-production
No release date for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has been announced
I've been sick all week and this is the first time ik hearing about it. Omg it feels like I got body slammed by good news
As a fan of the Bioware franchise I'm looking forward to getting the new DragonAge game.
This suggests to me that they will try to get the game out this year. I hope. We'll see.
Fingers crossed 🤞
This is PROMISING!
I hope they bring back the hero of ferelden he needs to come back to help his friends
January 2023: Mac Walters, Dreadwolf production director, leaves BioWare
March 2023: Mark Darrah reruns as a consultant.
"RIP, boiling water. You will be mist".
Sorry, DAD joke. I should go...
I have not yet flinched on thinking that the Dreadwolf is cancelled and I'm not thinking one bit that it will flop (or if it does, it will rise up greatly such as Cyberpunk 2077).
This is incredible news 👏
🎉 This sounds promising!
Fantastic news.
Hopefully better than intersection
This is fantastic news!
I wonder if this means the game is or will be in Beta soon.
On one hand Mark Darrah coming back to Bioware to help is exciting and definitely good news, but on the other hand it worries me, something similar happened with Andromeda and well, look at what we got, I believe Casey Hudson was the one who came back to finish Andromeda, he basically saved the project from a total loss, let's hope that's also not the case here.
As I've said before, Bioware has to nail this, doubt EA will take it lightly if they botch a third release.
They might me uncertain of the game's reception because of the leaks reception. Many people bashed them for creating something like Destiny instead of a Dragon Age game. Let's hope all the work until now was good.
Remember when they kept bringing Casey Hudson back to finish Anthem?
If this game will be released this year or maybe next, I won't be able to play it, so I'm going to have to isolate myself from everything so that I can't get any spoilers. 😟 I hope the game takes its time.
It's like the maker came down from the golden city to reshape thedas proper!
Hell yeah
Oh yes I read this days ago and quite honestly I'd be cool with a god of war Ragnarok type gameplay but with character switching
Honestly some of you takes these leaks at face value way to often and put one person on such a pedestal and discount the other talent working on these games.
I'm not sure how I feel about MD returning he was one of those repeatedly saying the DAI MP would have no effect on the campaign and it turned out to be lies so I'm more concerned than anything about him returning given this new title has switched from a live service multiplayer back to a single person game.
Well mostly when you need help at the end is not good specialy if you dont have annything to show
Thanks for the video
I say November or December release
Idk as I said in the discord I’m extremely skeptical. If they were thinking they have the game on lock, they wouldn’t have felt like they needed the consultation to make sure it “respects the legacy” of the franchise, which in and of itself is an extremely vague phrase I’m taking as “please make sure we didn’t fuck this thing up”. It’s nice to know Mark offered his services and not the other way around, but I can’t shake the feeling that this is ultimately not a good sign.
I know I’m a total doomer but my expectations are basically zero at this point. If it sucks I’m not gonna be disappointed. If it’s good I’m gonna be the most pleasantly surprised out of all y’all
I'm not quite sure why this is a 'shocking' update. As I posted on mark's own youtube, to me it makes sense to leverage his great amount of expertise AND relevant experience to help them over the finish line. I don't think he's helping with the actual development of the game, just perhaps more the organization of resources to make it. So; no active participation, no jira board, no coding. More like: "have you considered this because of x experience I had". Maybe he'll be able to put in his ideas like a 'quarantined zone' for the developers in the final months so they can have no distractions for bug fixing and late priority tasks.
First time I'm ganno comment in such topic... Honestly I'm so worried that the Dragon Age Francis will be diverted in its original form because I love how the game was made...With Mark Darrah's retuning as a consultant in Dragon Age Dreadwolf I'm hoping that there still a chance to retain the original aspect of the game with the full control companions, tactical view, excellent story line and other more cause that how people loved Dragon Age Francis in the first place...
I just want the funny bants between party members ffs please stop playing with my emotions
My gosh this is awesome, and at the same time I'm scared. If more veterans come back then hell yeah. But, I really hope the newbies/current bioware team don't fuck it up.
Does this mean EA thinks the game is lacking and needs some last-minute help to make it decent? I hope not.
At this point expecting them to announce it for 2023 but push it back to 24.
I hope they get rid of the load out thing for mages. Limiting the # of spells to # of buttons that can be mapped made DAI boring because I couldn’t experiment with spell effectiveness against bad guys and my play style and testing combos.
When DA:D leak's happened I asked Mark whether he can comment this situation or not and he said he's not in the position to talk about it ATM.
So now it makes perfect sence. Welp, bioware please don't fuck this up🤧💀
obviously the team couldn't hack it, proven by the DECADE they are working on it, and they needed a person that knows what he is doing to help em out.... will it be enough ?... only time will tell..
Mark walks into the Bioware office and sees Dreadwolf's progress
"So after years of development....you guys haven't done shit...so business as usual then"🙃
2023 is already bursting with promising games, i could handle a 2024 release, 10 years from inquisition but not as long as the elder scrolls
Hogwarts Legacy, Baldur's Gate 3 and Starfield will compete for Game of the Year. I'm not confident enough in DAD, so I think it would be wiser to release in January 2024, just because of the awards competition.
I'm still salty over the hack and slash
DAD will be viewed with such eagle eyes when it's released. After the messy past games from BioWare they really can't allow themselves to have any game less than 'great'. Mediocre will not do after having to wait such a long time for this game. They do have to hit it out of the park with Dreadwolf but the development cycle has been such a mess ever since they started working on the game. It's great that Mark Darrah is back at least but I'm still just so worried about this game. It's my favorite gaming franchise and it'd be a shame for such a beautiful world to get bad treatment.
Reeks of DESPERATION :(
Hell, they use a hack and slay as a template for a true RPG? Have you not learned your damn lesson Bioware?
Then again, they made Inquisition, which was at best average (even the "asset re-use!" title - Dragon Age 2 - was better than this!)...seriously, how can you make something as grand as Dragon Age: Origins and then make this crap :(
Mark Darrah won't save the franchise. it has been in development hell for years now.. Still hoping for the best though.
Mark is a straight up "fixer". Bioware always needs him to rally the troops.
I really want DA Dreadwolf to be a great game but with how the Netflix DA Absolution show went and knowing that story is supposed to be connected to the Dreadwolf story that honestly doesn't give me the highest of hopes because DA Absolution is absolute garbage and should have never been made!
Must be in bad shape. Maybe they will get it done this century.
He approached BioWare tho and not the other way around.
source: i made it up
too many changes- this game is gonna be an awful mishmash
