One of my favorite things about the DA fandom is just how genuinely people love the world of Thedas and its lore. I'm glad Bioware recognizes this and feeds us so well! There have been times where I've spent an hour or more in the menus just reading up on correspondence between nobles or the snippets we get of Brother Genitivi's books.
After some manipulation of the codex in Paint Shop, I believe the long redacted name is "Warden Davrin" And its indeed "From Emmrich's Diary". So we can have a Warden Named Davrin, and a Necromancer named Emmrich as companion? 🧐
i definitely think characters are a huge part in the dragon age games, so excited to meet the new cast when the game finally drops, and of course i'll be ready to see all the returning characters- still holding out hope that zevran will make an appearance. i wonder if any tevinter nights characters will make an appearance in the game? it would be cool to see hollix, and/or audric imo
Not the mention the necromancy would be such a spectacular thing to watch. Essentially holy necromancy is such a neat concept. Use of the dead to protect the living is such a badass sounding idea.
How do you all feel about the latest Dreadwolf codices and the writing team's process? I would love to hear all your thoughts! I've also made a recent vlog of my time at EGX for those interested: ua-cam.com/video/B-lx1s77bo4/v-deo.html
I read the Tevinter nights story Down Among Dead Men but I still cannot begin to imagine what the grand necropolis looks like. I’m guessing some black with some blue green hues. I’ll be honest I’m not familiar I will have to catch up on the Dowager. Also water dragon is a big YES from me.
They are fun and a taste of what is to come. Though the last word in the Vinsomer codex is inappropriate, hatchling, dragonling or offspring would have been much better.
I really hope we can be a blood mage this time around again. The game takes place in Tevinter, it would be criminal to not give blood magic specialization as an option
This already sounds better than Andromeda, lol. Core Bioware for me is the story, the lore, and how they scratch that intrigue itch. Can't wait for this next romp in Thedas!
For me, the X-factor is gonna be Character Customization options. Their lore building and custom storyboard is groundbreaking, but DA has always been behind the competition in the character customization department, especially Inquisition.
Yeah, I remember that one! Maybe it's a variant of some kind, but, they didn't want to give too much away too soon, so they just re-used a existing name for now! OR, it's just a simple goof? It happens sometimes, especially in the early stages of putting together the lore/story! Maybe, it's a small misdirection, who knows?
Your videos are really good. You know what I love about DA. The grandiose story they tell, the exciting lore you want to know, the people. And the whole fan community. Everyone here is so nice, caring and creative. I love it. My favorite series forever.
How exciting! This new information and codices answer one of my significant questions: We older and aged players will be catered for in Dragon Age Dreadwolf! Yay! I still really hope that there is an option to keep the controls simple enough for us, but also, challenging enough for younger players, so that the faithful older players like myself, who have been with DA since its inception can play. Meaning; it doesn't involve so many combinations that we give up trying to coordinate a lot of fancy moves. I love that the story and characters will drive the game as this is the main thing that attracted me to all the Dragon Age games because I am a fantasy writer and D & D DM and player.
I started playing all the way through the dragon age game in late 2018 (could have probably played sooner but wasn’t allowed bloody games growing up) and around the time time the first trailer dropped that year I was so hyped! But around 2020 I had to pace myself especially around the whole rumors of redrafting and live service and the exodus of a lot of vets. But after hearing this I can feel that excitement coming back
Thanks so much for keeping the updates coming! I always find the scenic pans relaxing to watch while listening to your update or while reading the quotes. The jackdaw logo is also very clean, sorry if I haven't noticed until now
I’m glad that new fans will be able to get into the game just as us older fans will, But something about worrying about making what could very well be the culmination of the entire story so far, accessible for new fans does worry me. That’s like writing book 4 of a series with people who only started the series on book 3 in mind… Who jumps into a series half way through and then gets upset if they end up not understanding things about the ending?
Ok, so I THOUGHT it would be really cool if maybe we could swim in the next game, but I'm definitely rethinking that now. As someone with an intense fear of very deep, dark water and what could be lurking down there, the idea that a lightning dragon or some other horrible water monster could show up while I'm swimming is TERRIFYING! I'd probably have a panic attack or throw my controller at the TV. Or both!
they need to remaster origins and 2(made playable on ps4/5 and xbox) plus do a next gen version of inquisition. too build up hype because most people have only played inquisition and have forgotten dragon age even exists.
I’m so glad I was awake late enough to see this!! Best Sunday morning gift ❤️ so excited to explore Tevinter (and underwater dragons!!) in the next game!!
i am so excited for dragon age dreadwolf! even these small (teasing) updates hype me up so much. i was already wanting to replay inquisition again, too. gotta get on that now LOL
I played Dragon Age Origins at 10 years old, when I lent it from my brother (14 years go) and I have loved it ever since! I can't wait to play DA:Dreadwolf! My boyfriend is currently playing DA: Inquisition, and he loves it! My favorite games everrr! ♡
Hey Jack, I have two things to point out to you. 1, in the diary codex entry, it looks like an apostrophe to me, not an H. (considering the apostrophe would, in fact, be placed before the s. Helloooooo. lol) And 2, In Vinsomer's (see what I did there. Apostrophe before the s.😁)Codex the blank in the second paragraph, do you think it could have something to do with The Lords of Fortune. Because the description reminded me of the concept art that we had gotten last year. You know, the one with Isabella, and 'Dorian' in it, under water. (For lack of a better name for the other person in it.) And the codex does say that she's not attacking unless they get close to her lair, so who knows. (well, except for the writers that is.)
I can’t wait to see this game! One big concern, though, is whether we will be forced to actually kill the dreadwolf. I got to know him well in DA3 and, while I agree he needs to be stopped, I don’t see him as evil. He made a mistake that had disastrous results for his people and he feels responsible for fixing it. I do draw the line at genocide, but I am hoping he can be stopped in another way than a fight to the death.
In regard to the RD entry. It states “love’s promise to bridge any separation with cunning intent” and “historically questionable but one does prefer the relief of a happy ending.” Are they trying to tease the Solasmancers with this?
OMG I was screaming with happiness when I saw your video pop up today my dude. This update, has me so pumped and I can't wait to play Dreadwolf ! 😁🎉 Thank you for reading the new CODEX entries. I was on the freeway when I was listening to your video. 😁🎉🐉
I was just thinking about how I am looking forward to the next chapter of Dragon Age. Please let it be able to maintain its high quality. Thank you, Jackdaw, for keeping us sane while we try to patiently wait for the next DA saga to be released.
But Vinsomer's aren't a new breed of dragon. We kill one in Dragon Age Inquisition and Frederick of Serault even has details pertaining to one indicating that they're already a known variant. I'm hoping this is just an oversight and not a retcon.
I really hope they improve the rogue combat in this new game. Inquisition's rogue style made me sad. Thanks to t.v. shows like Arrow (seasons 1&2 the best television ever) we know an archer will not continue firing arrows with four people on top of him. Also, I can use a dagger better than that. C'mon Bioware, you know you can do better. Gove me back my double axes from Origins.
I hope Anders is somewhere safe in the Imperium, it would make sense for him to run off there after starting the mage rebellion, and it would make sense to cross paths with him in DA:4, hopefully as an ally.
Continuing my first time exploration through Dragon Age this year I am getting a real fire in my belly to see what happens in the next game. I read the 1st story in Tevinter nights and loved the twist that demonstrated the Mortalitasi respect of the dead. I have been playing Origins and loving Alistair's humour and seeing Leliana in her younger days (having played Inquisition first). I feel like I literally cannot wait for Dreadwolf. I'm going to pop from excitement if they don't hurry up lol 😂
@@adamjenkins7653 thanks that's really interesting. It's my first character, a mage, so I'm probably going to just put into mostly magic on her. But I expect to try other classes as I want to see other origins later so I could do a super cunning funny rogue
I had the whole day friends here, so I could'nt watch your video till now. But now, i'm finally alone and can watch your video. Like always I just wanna say thank you that you take your time to research all these information and gave them to us. I appreciate it. Plus, everytime I see my UA-cam Bell ringing, I get excited, because I know you have uploaded a video. I really hope we will get a Trailer or atleat a nice Teaser. (again) I think the articles are fine I hope we will get more informations soon. We waited so long and I just want some cool new Infos that can satisfy me till the game comes out. Most of the time they gave us just some breadcrumbs but nothing spectacular if you know what I mean.
I am loving hearing about how editors are kind and not focused on grammar until final reviews. As someone who does write at times, I know the pain. When writing is flowing I want to get the dialog on the page. Like the reader, I am just as interested to see where this plot is going to go. Writing is rather strange that way. Ideas lead you. For me, an idea comes up and my work is to translate how my characters would behave if this happens? Dragon Age is unique because, unlike Skyrim, the main characters have a lot of personality. They are not genetic posers where you can just insert any odd picture to represent them. They have good and questionable characteristics that make them appear realistic.
I'm definitely looking forward to DA4. I just hope we get some decent looking armor styles. No shade to inquisition but the inquisitor's underoos beneath a coat or breastplate was rather disappointing

Why should a fourth game in a series that has a continued storyline/villain from the previous game be welcoming to new fans? If someone enters a narrative focused RPG on it's fourth entry without playing earlier games/researching earlier games, they only have themselves to blame for feeling lost at all. What Bioware should be focusing on is the hardcore fan experience because they've kept us waiting nearly a decade for a follow-up to Inquisition's cliffhanger ending. They've constantly fucked over development of DA4 by pulling members of the team away from working on it to help badly thought out titles in ME Andromeda and Anthem both of which failed massively, rather than pour the most time/resources into the sequel to their GOTY 2014 winning and best selling DA series. The Dragon Age series has been consistently shafted by Bioware/EA despite being the DA team being the most talented at Bioware, and having consistent success despite ridiculous development deadlines for DA2 especially and being forced to work with engines that don't have tools for making RPG's with (FrostBite for Inquisition) as well as forced cross-gen limiting the scope of Inquisition. Everything about this update screams that this game won't be a proper follow-up to the prior games in the series.
Do they maybe not appreciate how starved of Dragon Age content we all are here? Look, DAI may have suffered from an identity crisis, look a tad old & play a bit rigid but let's give credit where it is due - The writing was top dog! There is factually more to diversity than skin color. DA is full of diverse cultures, yet Bioware is dumbing it down to skin color. LGBTQIA+ has never been a problem in DA either. Meh. I'd rather read something about gameplay, new features, length and scope of the story, or even something about the graphics or designs of the levels.
I wish I could find out who the casting director is for DA:D. As a huge fan and actor, I would love so much to have even a small contribution to voices in game. As a trans man too, because trans actors aren’t hired enough and I know BW are wanting to do better with that.

I wish I could find out who the casting director is for DA:D. As a huge fan and actor, I would love so much to have even a small contribution to voices in game. As a trans man too, because trans actors aren’t hired enough and I know BW are wanting to do better with that.
