Production is taking so long because they need to render and animate 5 different solas sex scenes, let’s give them time, BioWare will deliver with what fans have been asking for, I have faith.
I'm honestly so happy that they went back to single player. I enjoyed the multiplayer style of Inquisition. but to make the main game a multiplayer is a horrible, horrible idea. I'm weary but excited about the next game
I really really hope that the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is teaching BioWare & EA the lesson that they should just stick with the Single Player roots even harder. That game is selling very well, iirc it was very close to topping charts next to the new Resident Evil. I finished the trilogy not too long ago and I beat Andromeda recently. I too am cautiously optimistic, with an emphasis on cautious. The amount of people leaving is…. very worrying to me. I hope they succeed in giving those promises to us, but the road with this project has been long and worrisome. In hindsight, it was a good thing that Anthem 2.0 got canned so they can stick with the things that they can do best; single player RPGs with good characterization and lore.
True i am glad anthem got canceled. Imagine if instead of working at the disaster that is anthem in the first place all bioware teams would have worked on mass effect andromeda.. from a mmmokay game kinda good after the patches it would have been a masterpiece... i hope the sales for MELE and the excitment it started for mass effect again, opened both EA and bioware eyes
@@Knight1029 I loved all three of the games in the trilogy. There is no weak link. If I had to rank it, ME2 > ME1 = ME3. Andromeda was… uh, very painful at certain points and very good at other points. But I would say that I am glad that I played it, because I know my stance on it instead of what other people have said.
@@itsjarrrd for me I really enjoyed the companions and the side characters dialogue. They were all really well written. My favourites have to be Jaal, Vetra and Dracks. But it is good that you formed your own opinion on the matter and not on what other people believed.
I just hope they make the best Dragon Age game yet, with elements of both Origins and Inquisition but doing even more and pushing the franchise past heights it has never been. I wanna see more character creator options, player choice, reactive world, branching storylines, amazing romance arch’s, lively worlds that have secrets and quests to discover
How do you feel about the development of the next Dragon Age so far? It's certainly been a tumultuous ride, but I do have faith in the team. Let me know your thoughts!
Honestly? To know they're trying to do better and are taking steps to make sure they do, is a big relief. I'm sure the developers working on the game certainly appreciate this, if it's true
I am less concerned and more excited. Knowing your take on the situation reinforces my excitement. I can't wait! Thank you for this video and your continued hard work
As long as they don't rush it, I think I will be very happy. Although at this point, I don't know if anything could take the place of DA:I. I have 13 different playthroughs so far. But uh...most of them are Lavellan romancing Solas. I just can't help it!
The length of time between DA:I and DA4 is still an awful look. You can rationalize it with Anthem, departures, pandemic etc but it's just brutal. I think they should be aiming for Q4 of 2022 or at worst, Q1-2 of 23.
@@marcogiordanella7795 i also think that. I don't think EA will wait a lot, they are spending lots of resources, and if you consider the margin of game releases from BioWare (2 years per game), and considering MELE was released in 2021 (2 years after Anthem), I think the Next DA will be released in early 2023
So the launch could actually be after 2023... oh man, imagining Dragon Age 4 being released 10+ years after DA Inquisition makes me sad. So much wasted time and so many unnecessary departures from talented professionals...
@@dre10blood the point is that this long delay could have been easily avoided. It's also crazy that we're reaching a decade of waiting, I mean I still remember when DA:I was released and been waiting for DA4 ever since.
@@elenadambrauskaite6656 What hurts me the most is, afaik, there are comics and books that are being published in this 10 yr waiting period. The story is progressing one way or another. I'd very much prefer being part of that progress. And without the games I have no intention of doing so. I don't think I'm the only one. Waiting 10 year for a sequel should be a no-go. And as a fan I feel betrayed to a point.
MrMattyPlays pointed something important out. I am trying not to have any expectations for this next one cause EA and Bioware have done a lot of things that has hindered the projects that are ongoing. They only switched from DA4 from being a live service to fully single player in 2021 according to Schierer's last report so that will be a big hurdle to overcome as it changes their plans again. As much as I would love for the same mistakes to not happen; we have heard those same promises made by other companies and they still do it. So that will remain to be seen. I do want a great game. The people who worked hard on the game deserve to be happy and proud of their work.
The weird feeling i get inside about this project will never go away. We've seen the amazing work they can do given "enough" time. But i wish and hope they have all the time they want and need. Any of my expectations, and whatever else have faded. The only thing I truly desire is that they are able to put all the love and creativity and expression and passion into this project that they want, and to do it freely and efficiently. However long it takes.
why do people always mention "Hinterlands" when talking about unnecessary areas and things in Inquisition, yes Hinterlands had lots of content but it had content, good stories to go with it, it wasn't mindless, and it was pleasant nice looking area to traverse. I enjoyed it. Personally I hated places like oasis and those stupid shards and impossible terrain, or hissing wastes which was whole lot of empty space and repeating bases much more than Hinterlands.
In the character comments even they mentioned the hissing wastes being a wasted venture. Sera goes on regarding the forbidden oasis 'more stupid bits for a stupid lock I could have picked if it wasn't sealed by stupid magic' which sums it up and lore wise it was trivial effort. The biggest deal of the whole waste was a surface Dwarf colony and nothing more. That wasn't even fruitful to the lore.
@@haileydetterich8260 . Since the game was released I always skipped Hissing Wastes, I only defeated thr Dragon there. A week ago I had the curiosity to do it, so I loaded an old file and completed the Wastes, it wasn't bad at all, I thought the area was a big a$$ desert, but actually the area is very short.
I found you not too long ago but I wish it was much earlier. Dragon Age is my favourite game series and I've never been one to look at codex entries and I've never owned a comic or book about it, so your videos help me learn so much. I thank you for that
Until the next dragon age comes around I will have to stick to reading the comics and novels I can't wait to meet the next elf with commitment issues and the apostate planning on backstabbing me in the end
I truly hope they switch it up this time. We're going to Tevinter the land that Mages rule and the unpowered masses are obediently loyal by force...It would logically make more sense to me that a Mage doesn't need society to change and instead a Non-Mage does. That some Ex-Slave rises through the ranks solely to gain vengeance or the one person that lives in Tevinter that honestly truly believes Magic is a curse and the root of all evil in Thedas and the direct cause of all their suffering and the agony of many throughout their life. Perhaps someone that believes all Mages should cease to exist but doesn't necessarily act evil or seek genocide but instead find a way to depower all of them without the usage of Tranquility or mass death. As for the racial issue...They can't and shouldn't do that. The whole thing that makes Solas the villain is that he truly believes the various races can never get along. That the Elves are superior and Humans/Qunari/Dwarves are lesser or at least inherently primitive and violent. He believes that the ONLY way peace and stability could ever be achieved is through the survival of only One race/culture and the death of all others. This is extreme and sadly not necessarily wrong history does in fact show that cultures do in fact consume each other more than they cooperate. But the hero of the story the theme of the story...Has to and I mean that they truly have to prove this mentality is wrong. That no life form, no culture, no race is inherently by their nature this or that. Dragon Age has more nuance than that...They even directly tell us that Everyone always seeks Black and White and it's never the whole truth that it just ain't that simple ever. In short it shouldn't be all Elves are automatically bad nor should it be that the Qunari are the greatest threat to existence nor should it be that Tevinter is corrupt beyond redemption. It should be a mix of yeah some Elves are evil...But some are Good and truly realize that Solas doesn't seek peace he seeks pride and slaughter, That yeah the Qunari are attacking...But there's actually some Qunari advocating for change for peace seeking to make a deal with Thedas instead of conquest or total war. Yeah Tevinter should be corrupt we should see this in every single last part of their society...But as Dorian and Mae and Francesca showcase that doesn't mean the people should inherently be but instead simply caught up in the bad thinking there never was a choice, That some do in fact want to help and truly intend to change themselves and their homeland for the betterment of all anyways. For everything wrong with Tevinter we should be able to see what makes it worth fighting for as well...Why the people never stopped fighting for their beliefs and why Humanity's ancestral home needs to be preserved despite the bad it's done. If a Traitor is to be had...It shouldn't be based on them having pointed ears. It should be based on philosophy on them honestly and truly believing there's no hope for Thedas or any of it's people that everyone deserves to die that the world shouldn't be saved...Because what's the point if it just continues to rot afterwards? I say this should be some Ex-Slave and to make it the most interesting a Human that agrees with Solas about their race being inherently evil deserving to be purged. They should also be a Non-Mage to showcase...You don't need any inherent power to become a monster or seek societal change/destruction you just need conviction. That's how I'd do it. Subvert what the player expects...Elves and Mages being the bad guys and slaves just victims to save or pity turning it instead into a story where every side is fucked up in their own ways and that a Slave rose up to become the worst of the worst given no one ever cared to show them a better way.
I am actually very optimistic about the next DA. After so many obstacles, I'm glad that finally EA is giving Bioware and other studios more freedom on the production of their games (I didn't know they took the multi-player aspect out! It makes me so happy lmao) I can wait for a long time if it means this will be THE dragon age experience. Love your videos!!
Thank you for not being gloom and doom about this franchise. Too many of you tubers reporting on DA4 seem almost gleefully awaiting some presumed failure of the game. I just want to play the damn thing. 2023 seems like forever from now.
EA being less involved in the game studios they own is great. Because their push for microtranactions and multiplayer focused games really kills games. And im glad that they are backing off on that
I know you've been over the timeline again and again, but I so appreciate it. This was exactly what I needed and I'm so excited to see what EA Play puts out tomorrow!! Thank you, Jack!!! This was perfect!!!
I personally love Inquisition's art style, so for me if they reuse assets with improved textures and animations it sounds wonderful. It's also more immersive when you see continuity in the games, like for example at the beginning of inquisition the melee weapons use updated versions of the same models that were already used in Origins, or when you see the templars and wardens wearing the same armour sets they did in DA2, but with updated textures.
I am very hyped for Dragon Age 4, of course. But really, I will never be tired of saying it... Waiting 10+ years for a direct sequel of a game that ended in a cliffhanger is BULL$HIT!!!! I even had enough time to do a fanfic of the adventures of my Hero of Ferelden along with Nathaniel, Oghren, Ariane and Finn (and Dog) searching for a cure for the Calling😂.
Incredibly good journalism! So thorough, every time I had a question you answered it soon after I thought of it :) So glad to have you as a go-to for all Dragon Age news updates (And Ghil for all things lore). Beacons of the DA community!!!
The last 2 years have seen a pandemic that LIKELY saved Bioware from EA. Fallen Order was a slap in the face to the obsession EA has with multiplayer. Their failures with Anthem and Battlefront 2 have paved the way for fans that will continue be vigilant and not take EAs crap lying down. And as cringe as it might be, corporations NEED to respect the power of the internet, specifically Reddit and the rallying power it provides the consumer. EA is desperate, and it's clear now that Bioware likely has some breathing room, SWTOR is another topic of discussion but it looks like that game, that has SUFFERED for almost a decade, might finally see some love. EA has SWTOR as its only existing Star Wars IP and will be forced to do something with it to stay competitive with Disney's new contracting policy regarding that franchise. I'm very proud of the fans of Dragon Age, Star Wars, and Bioware as a whole. We are cult-like, and we are zealots for the characters and stories we cherish. All the evidence points to a victory for the fans, and I HOPE to the moon and back that I'm right.
Game's already having troubled development, truly worried, I honestly don't know what's going on with Bioware but they don't seem to agree on how to tackle this (or any) project the right way, that and issues with Frostbite and no doubt EA's influence is not helping either. I wish this game nothing but success but the reality is that there's a problematic development already and it's been 6 years since the last DA. Best we can do is keep updated with development news. Thanks for the update Jack!
While some of those issues were definitely on Bioware I feel like a large portion of their problems came from EA wanting too much say in how they make their games. With luck now that EA seems to have backed off to an extent things will smooth over.
It's certainly sad that Bioware was forced to dither about for so many years, instead of focusing on their core franchises the whole time. We'd be playing the next DA either now, or very soon had they not done so. Instead, we're stuck waiting. Don't get me wrong, they should take all the time they need, but... with how successful DAI was, it's baffling to me that we're so early in production. Anyhow, I'm cautiously optimistic that this renewed focus on single player and Bioware's CORE values will result in another bioware classic. It is heartening, presuming it's not lip service or doesn't get changed by a new "higher up" at EA in a year. Imagine, "I know this is ready for realease, but delay it a little longer and JAM those live services back in". XD. What a nightmare that would be.
Given their most recent track record I would be incredibly cautious. Those first 3 games were crafted by a specific team and specific people in a much different time. For them to create a game that exceeds the predecessors it would be monumental. Any franchise when you have new developers and lose old ones, the next chapter in that franchise is never likely to exceed the others. Unfortunate but realistic. I can only hope I'm wrong though.
If this game isn't up to the level of Inquisition, I'll cry myself to sleep. Trespasser was the best DLC I've ever played. The fact that the multiplayer has been removed is a great sign at least.
EA has mismanaged Bioware to the point that I can't believe they still exist. Obviously their string of hits: Mass Effect (3+ years, 2+ before the EA acquisition) Dragonage: Origins (4 years, roughly 3 years before EA acquisition) ME 2 (23 Months) DA 2 (19 Months) ME 3 (2 years) DA: I (4 Years do to the horrific Frostbite switch that some say they wanted, some say they didn't, along with Davey _"Gravy"_ Gaider hinting that it was *NOT* their first choice, but they were _excited_ for the challenge. Honestly, what could he say, being employed by EA during some of the interviews without the protection of the Docs anymore, and then after the fact I'm sure he was still very proud of what they came up with, thogh he made it apparent that DA: I was not what the team envisioned) ME: A; 5 years, decent sales (Est. 8m in it's first year, just ahead of Rise of the Tomb Raider, wtv that ended up being according to the NTD group), but a disaster of a game with...not-so-great long term sales. Anthem Oh my goodness, over 100 million sunk into the game from a production and online infrastructure standpoint, plus who knows how much in marketing, and we all know how that turned out. Honestly, the "It seems to much like Dragonage in Space" would have been a welcome alternative to both ME: A and Anthem, which was, _imo,_ fun in very small doses, completely lacking in any type of story depth while missing the mark of a Looter Shooter RPG. If the loot and enemies were going to be, well as bland as they were, they needed a compelling story, which they missed by a country mile. They sank more money into ME: A and Anthem than all of Bioware's previous games under EA combined, while essentially forcing out their best programmers, artists, writers and leads. Take a second to imagine this: EA Gives the _"Ok"_ immediately to Bioware to make Dragonage Inquisition in Unreal, which they are incredible with at this point. We probably could have actually jumped on the rocks along the shore as opposed to doing the "Chicken Dance meets the Bunny Hop" to get to certain locations that _should_ have been very, very easy to get to. They give the _"Ok"_ to a 3 year development, something Bioware had never been afforded under EA at this point, and were only given the extra time with their last 3 games because they were fighting Frostbite every step of the way. Again, something that would not have been an issue with Unreal 4. EA also gives Gaier and crew the creative freedom to make things look the way they like. The "overly-sexualized" Desire Demon was apparently one of the crews favorite designs; a crew led by an openly gay man, but all of a sudden it's an issue? Sort of like Jade Raymond's face in ME: A... Anyway, 3 years, maybe a month or two polish delay, and the game most likely comes out a better overall package, with all the things we loved about the game, but instead of all these filler quests to make the game longer, there were actual real 3-10 hour side quests that tied back into the main story because they weren't in an arm-wrestling match with both the engine and EA's marketing department. Something that only got worse with ME: A and Anthem. Let's keep our fantasy rolling. Mass Effect: Andromeda is also made with UE 4. DA: I finishes over a year earlier than it did, so many of the people working on that begin assisting on ME: A; So they are joining a group that has already done a great job with expansions like Omega, Leviathan and the Citadel that is also intimately familiar with Unreal Engine. Anthem, also using a UE variant is going well, so we don't have people shuffling from project to project like decks of cards at a 5 deck Blackjack Table... I don't know if Anthem would have landed as Warframe and Destiny 2 still have the sci-fi looter shooter genre pretty locked down, but it sure as heck would have done far better, and chances are, the next Dragonage would either: *A* Already be out or *B* Be right around the corner The lost so much talent, so many irreplaceable personalities that made them who they were. Make no mistake about it, you can remove what seems to be a minor member of a team and have the entire group dynamics thrown off for quite some time. To make matters worse, Frostbite has done *ZERO* to show me that it is a _decent,_ never mind *GOOD* A/CRPG engine. Probably because it's not. Bioware probably would have been better off designing it's own, as it did with BG1, NwN, and DA: Origins than using the mess that is Frostbite. It's not a very flexible engine like Unreal, or Decima, or Lumberjack. It's made for flashy graphics and shoot shoot bang bang along with racing/sports. That does not extend to thousands of different enemy stat variances being attacked by thousands of different possible stat variances, a huge inventory tracking system, thousands of dialogue trees with variable outcomes and branching paths. That isn't Frostbite, and if Bioware somehow gets this to work correctly, well I'd be hard-pressed to even call it Frostbite at that point because I'm guessing it most likely doesn't resemble what is used for Need for Speed, Madden, or Battlefield, each of which requires very little changes to the core of the engine itself. EA should have let Bioware keep their pseudo-autonomy after the Docs left, instead of basically running them into the ground. Bioware was also *ALWAYS* a "Fans First" company, not a "Well we have to think about what Fox and MSNBC might say about the side of a blue alien's boob" company. I could see Bioware pumping this game out at the end of next year _if_ left to their own devices and it wasn't on fricken Frostbite. If EA gets too involved then yeah, 2024 is possible. late 2022 if everything goes near perfect is also possible (unlikely, but possible), but I'd be happy with sometime in mid 2023 at this point. The crazy part? Bioware's best work has seemed to be around the 2 year mark. Of course it was also on an engine that is very dev friendly, has tons of tools already set to go and based on, along with taught in almost every university/tech program. Heh, I almost wouldn't be surprised to see a new Mass Effect game come out first, _if_ they allowed the developers to use Unreal 5, but that's a story for another time. Right now, all I can do is wonder how many people Bioware lost would still be there if EA and their marketing teams didn't get so involved, and what their last few games would have looked like if that were the case. Hopefully, EA has learned that it's a publisher, not a developer, and they trust their teams enough to let them do their jobs.
Now that EA has FINALLY decided to sit down and let Bioware do singleplayer games (at least we hope), I wonder if Bioware will go back to Joplin's story ideas that they originally had in mind and if Mark Darrah will have his visions be recognized for the game. I sure hope so because it seemed so interesting and I would love heists! I can't wait for this game, but I also hope Bioware take their time so that they can not only give us a good game, but a game that they are proud of. That is all we could ask for honestly.
@@realhagen1397 It is, actually. Was pretty fun. If they did something like that for DA4, I wouldn't be opposed. It should just be separate from the main singleplayer story.
Staff departures, the reboot and previous postponing make me sad. But I hope they stick not to an open world model, but choose a more linear quest/choice heavy approach
Dragon Age is one of my favorite RPG franchises, but honestly, I've lost most of my interest in DA4 by this point. If the game really releases in 2023 and it's not delayed (which wouldn't surprise me), it will have been nearly a decade since the lnquisition. That's too large a gap between two games when Bioware games are supposed to be RPGs, which rely heavily on narrative (regardless of the end product's quality). DA4 is supposed to pick up after DAI, but the fire from Trespasser is long gone for me and metaphorically speaking, Bioware can't strike while the iron is hot anymore. To people who don't really bother following the side content, the franchise has lost all its momentum. I wish Anthem had never been a thing, maybe we'd already be playing the Joplin version of DA4.
ive got all kinds of doubts, constant reboots, lack of leadership, all the departures, im sorry but covid can know longer be an excuse (maybe at beginning 2020), its become a crouch everyone is using still and its everyones get out of jail free card. As time passes im beginning to think if this is just an illusion. A full decade between releases is just off.
Its good that companies are beginning to realise that a huge map doesn't make a game good, it's the story, the voice acting, so much more than a map. I prefer, any day, a small map but with a rich detailed story with massive amounts of voice acting.
Thank you so much for the reminder ! I'd rather know the team will take their time to allow them to give us the best Dragon Age. The pre-production has been so wild already, and then the pandemic. Hopefully, the months to come will brighter for them
ngl there are some news tidbits that have me nervous but I'm still cautiously optimistic and with so much unknown elements the news bits that have me nervous could very well not be bad/as bad as some think and because of that I've stayed mostly positive and excited.
All in all, my hype and expectations will depend on whether or not they plan to bring back Trevor Morris for the soundtrack. Solas's theme has been the top of my "Most Replayed" list on Spotify for the past three years.
As pessimistic as it may sound, the only thing I don't like about DA4 is it's creative director. ''Dragon Age has always been about belonging, about realizing that family is more than blood and about celebrating our diversity and differences'' ''Dragon Age is about hope , about how love and friendship are forces of good, and about how in the end, what we have is eachother'' What? I get _some_ of these like the family sort of, but love and friendship? Did we played the same games? What about a friend who became a terrorist blowing up part of a city and killing hundreds of innocents just to start a war, then ask you to put him out of his missery and becomin a martyr? There is a over millenia old god that manipulated everyone and came to know people who he will then not hesitate at end to cotinue his plan of practically destroying the fcking world What about the young boy that didn't know better and practically has the blood of innocent townsfolk in his hands because his mother even with the ''best'' of intentions was selfish and decided that her confort was better than protecting the village you rule, then also the fact that you could SELL the boy's soul to a demon for power and blood magic after also being able to sacrifice his mother for the blood necessary to go and speak to said devil? Or about the older, wise mentor in Duncan who mercilessly and with a grim face *executed* a man who refused to drink poison after precisely finding out what it iwas? How about the fact that you can sell your elf companion who is an escaped slave BACK to his former slaver? Also in the city elf origin, going on a quest of revenge against a racist, rapst lord who kidnapped among others, your sister? I get that he wants to focus on the possitive but he talks about it like Dtagon Age IS JUST ''Oh golly, let's go on lovey dovey adventures'' wich anyone playing it knows is not the case.
Yet, Dragon Age Inquisition is exactly what that creative director said for completely, especially with the boring Inquisitor Mary Sue they created as a protagonist for that game or characters like Krem who are there just as walking checklists. What I mean is that I agree with what you say, and that you should be worried, because in any case, Inquisition represents what you quoted from the creative director, so they already have the base to continue in that direction. DAO and DA2 have their dark moments, DAI doesn't, because the part that you mention of Solas is not dark in any way, is still painted with the brush of romanticism, friendship and love, and what he tries to do hasn't been accomplished yet either, and very much they will use the power of friendship and love to stop him.
I do really hope they brought the heists back in at least some capacity, because that actually sounds a lot of fun and I'm not usually one who likes stealth games or forced stealth sections. I think balancing that with more traditional DA gameplay could make for a fun and diverse play experience. It could also help force players to not stick to one party set up like I'm sure many of us do (I know I do) as you would obviously want less tanky, more stealthy characters with you on a heist and bring out the big warriors once you're on the road dealing with bandits and darkspawn.
I just heard about DA4 from the trailer couple some weeks ago, and as a casual fan who hasn’t fully finished origins in the span of give or take 3 years that I’ve own it, I did not know 4 was still in the making this whole time… Still super excited for it though (even with the low downs)! I’m hoping that I’ll finish Origins/Awakening, II, and inquisition by then xD Thsnks for this really informative summary ❤️
I love these breakdowns and updates because you can tell your a fan of the game. Makes me feel a lot more hype when news drops because I don't go to articles etc I come here 😁😁😆
Another great video, Jack! My thoughts are: IMHO MELE and its ecstatic reception has shown BioWare what its fandom wants. And I also think that some of the recent steps (New office, lessened Crunch, no MP stuff) have been good, exciting news. Still saddened by the loss of Darrah and Hudson though, I legit cried when I woke up to those news last year. But I think that we should give the new team a chance to impress us. And there are PLENTY "nameless" devs who work on these games, so lets not reduce a team of 600-1200 ppl. to a dozen names. I am cautiously hopeful and will support the team/studio as much as I can. I just need a great BW game again tbh. (And Andromeda WAS good imo, just not meeting BioWare standards of excellence) I TRIED all of the "alternatives", NO ONE does SP Party Based RPGs the way BioWare does.
I am so happy I joined the franchise extremely late 😂😂, like the hype for the next game has just started for me while all of you have been waiting for so long
For me, EA may be starting to realize that too much influence in creative decisions on projects that are very famous and successful only brings discontentment to the players, and a worse review overall. Sadly it's only arrived now. I am too scared of the ammount of chaos in pre-production, because that can lead to many unresolved ideas and a game that feels quite promising but incomplete, or even a feel of incoherence. I know that, if the story and the dialog lines are already done, production can be sped up substantially given the right ammount of money, because things get more technical and less of a base creation. But PLEASE, BIOWARE, STOP THE CHAOS. And bring us a very dark, sad, sarcastic and sexy story about the end of the world.
We are lucky to have a team that are very passionate about the game, meaning it will take time to get it perfect. But at the same time, I’m impatient and would love the game now. In the end I know it’ll be worth the wait. (At least I hope so 🤞) At least we have the other games to keep us occupied, how many replays can you do? There are so many different ways you can play it 🥰 Another great video Jack 🥳
I’m enjoying getting back into the DA Inquisition. I almost forgot how much I loved it. Just wish there was more content, dlc’s available. So I’m super hyped to hear about the DA 4 release!
I'd love to see the first three games and all of the expansion packs updated with the latest engine (being used for DA:4) sometime between now and 2023, which is an awful long time to wait for the next game in the franchise without something to fill in the ever expanding gap between it and the last release.
The way I see it, Bioware didn't release a bad game until after Dragon Age Inquistion. Think about it for minute. Bioware was hailed as one of the greats for many years, after Mass effect Andromeda and Anthem, they immediately went to being one of the worst. And when you a closer as to why, its due to the fact that they were not given enough options and forced into ridiculous crunch. Bioware has crafted several worlds and franchises that are still beloved across the gaming community. It shows that when Bioware is given time to put their passion into their craft, they create genre defining experiences. I hope they succeed
I do have to say I've been following this channel and didn't know I was not subscribed. Apologies to my fellow men, women, or any individuals of culture. DAI was my first DA game and I've played it 3 times now, thinking of a 4th. There are TWO KEY things the next game should build upon in my opinion. First are side quests, I think building arching storylines with not just 3 possible outcomes maybe even more and dedicated cutscenes for special side missions (ex: Witcher 3 w/various characters/side-characters, monsters). The only cutscene/continuing branch of stories were companion quests which are not bad, I loved them, but for DA4 they could go all out. 2nd thing is party banter. I believe the suggested DAI time limit was b/w 10-15 mins you'd get banter, I'd say decrease this to 7-10 minutes. With pausing, upgrading, and everything else we did in DAI, I'd hope party banter can trigger more frequently at launch with DA4, having companions separates DA from a lot of series and I hope for more memorable allies.
My biggest fear is they will ruin or fail on the lore and the connections between the previous games. My hopes are that they work on companion development with each other and the lead character. They add back the friendship bar, if they have jumping they make it work better, they fix the terrain in inquisition it could be annoying to get stuck on stairs. I'd love to see day night cycles not like 2 but naturally but have different enemies in the day vs night. Love this game
Honestly, I just hope the character design options go beyond “ 50 shades of bald”. And questing doesn’t feel like “ 3rd replay, gotta do the Hinterlands again-ugh”. I wish they’d give 2 and origins a graphics overhaul. But I’m being “hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. Is Solas going to drop the bomb, or not?”
I fear that too long to release can reduce the size of the public that is of the fanbase. Obviously fans would buy it anytime, but the casual players that liked Inquisition but never really became a hard fan may even forget after so many years. And the new gamers, that started playing after 2016, may not even know anything about it. The same goes for Skyrim, but Skyrim is more famous than Dragon Age. Almost 10 years of wait just makes people to become uninsterested. And they will release it as a BIG new chapter of a BIG franchise that few people still love and enjoy. I wish they get more money to hire more people and produce it faster.
If i know right bioware is planning to make the new dragon age for the next gen consoles only.. so i believe a lot of triple aaa games are being "delayed" till more people are putting hands on the ps5 and xbox seriesX.. which is also kinda nice because they have more time to put work in the games..so i agree with the 2023+ release date
Whatever it will be... I hope with this one that they've finally decided whether they want Dragon Age to be an action RPG or a RTwP-based RPG like Origins. Inquisition being an unfocused mess made me drop the game after a few hours; it tried to appeal to both sides without excelling in any.
Frankly, all this seems less like the people leaving really feel that DA4 will be good, but that now that the worst of the garbage is weeded out they feel safe to leave. Like, it's okay to leave the sinking ship because they're not setting it on fire as they go.
Oh gosh, I'm so late to the party, but in my opinion BioWare should really take the same amount of caution and energy in developing the new Dragon Age as those guys behind all Diablo series. I don't mind waiting any time if it's going to be a masterpiece. The first Dragon Age had a bit too much pathos with a sprinkle of comic relief here and there. DA 2 was all jokes and fun until it wasn't. And Inquisition was feels and vibes everywhere. I'm dying to see all those three games mixed together with perfect balance.... and I wholeheartedly wish for Solas to be redeemed in the most perfect ways for my thirsty sisters, but for me it would be enough to have him back as my spiritual guide (pun intended). ;)
Guys, let us be realistic! At this rate, the best we could hope for is a dragon age with the same standards as Andromeda. It is sad, but at least it is better than nothing at all.
It's frustrating to hear that EA forced the reboot in late 2017 only to go back to singleplayer in late 2020, but as they say, better late than never. Which is my whole approach for DA4 basically. I just want DA4 to be good, and if that means waiting until 2023\2024... I'll accept it. It'll be hard having a sequel 10 years after the last game, but hey, I'm also waiting for Elder Scrolls 6 and GTA 6, so I'm kinda used to that too. lol
Production is taking so long because they need to render and animate 5 different solas sex scenes, let’s give them time, BioWare will deliver with what fans have been asking for, I have faith.
hallelujah!!! :)))))
As long as they don't take 10 years more....
i'm crying omg
God bless
Elvhen glory!
I'm honestly so happy that they went back to single player. I enjoyed the multiplayer style of Inquisition. but to make the main game a multiplayer is a horrible, horrible idea. I'm weary but excited about the next game
did... did we play a different game? when did inquisition have multiplayer?
@@krig2052 it’s a horrible multiplayer but I liked the concept of it.
@@krig2052 Same, i have zero recollection of any available multiplayer for this game.
Multiplayer was a separate gameplay experience
@@krig2052 There was multi-player. I never played it but it was an option. The GOTY edition even comes with extra multi-player maps.
Same hope everything goes well.
Also hope you enjoyed the Trilogy and Andromeda all really great and fun games!
@@BoxingDawg really hope we could get a a resolution to things like the Quarian Ark and the Kett. So, much left to be filled.
This 👆
We don't want another Cyberpunk 2077. I'll wait and play these other great games in the mean time.
@@dre10blood completely agree that I don’t want it to be a poor release, but that doesn’t mean 10 years is just waaaaay too long 😭
I was just worrying over this topic this morning and then your notification popped up. I'm a more comforted now, thank you Jackdaw!
I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree. I'll have Elden Ring to entertainmy until the time comes to go back to Thedas
why do people always mention "Hinterlands" when talking about unnecessary areas and things in Inquisition, yes Hinterlands had lots of content but it had content, good stories to go with it, it wasn't mindless, and it was pleasant nice looking area to traverse.
I agree! The desert areas were really frustrating because they were either completely dull or frustrating to traverse.
It would be cool if you could see the changes in the story gradually open up new areas of the hinterlands as the game progresses.
because it's the first zone bad enough to cause the majority of players to quit the game
most people don't finish games, in general
I found you not too long ago but I wish it was much earlier. Dragon Age is my favourite game series and I've never been one to look at codex entries and I've never owned a comic or book about it, so your videos help me learn so much. I thank you for that

Until the next dragon age comes around I will have to stick to reading the comics and novels
I can't wait to meet the next elf with commitment issues and the apostate planning on backstabbing me in the end
Jesus XD
I am actually very optimistic about the next DA. After so many obstacles, I'm glad that finally EA is giving Bioware and other studios more freedom on the production of their games (I didn't know they took the multi-player aspect out! It makes me so happy lmao)
I can wait for a long time if it means this will be THE dragon age experience.
Love your videos!!
I don't want to blame it on anyone, but I blame EA.
😂
EA management is such a mess but abandoning multiplayer and live service for DA4 is encouraging.
I clicked on the notification faster than the Grey Warden's got nerfed in Inquisition.
Thank you for not being gloom and doom about this franchise. Too many of you tubers reporting on DA4 seem almost gleefully awaiting some presumed failure of the game. I just want to play the damn thing. 2023 seems like forever from now.
my head understands that a 2024 release will mean a polished complete product that will be a joy to experience. still my heart says NOOOOO WHYYYYYYY
This is kind of perfect since I just finished reading a 244 chapter fanfic of DA:I just a few minutes ago.

So glad to have you as a go-to for all Dragon Age news updates (And Ghil for all things lore).
It's always great to be able to watch your vids on the development of DA. Otherwise, I'd be in the dark 😅
Amazing video as usual! You make me and so many others so hyped for the game even if it'll take a while for it to come out!
If EA has anything to do with it, then it might be more likely than not honestly
Obviously their string of hits:
Mass Effect (3+ years, 2+ before the EA acquisition)
Dragonage: Origins (4 years, roughly 3 years before EA acquisition)
ME 2 (23 Months)
DA 2 (19 Months)
ME 3 (2 years)
DA: I (4 Years do to the horrific Frostbite switch that some say they wanted, some say they didn't, along with Davey _"Gravy"_ Gaider hinting that it was *NOT* their first choice, but they were _excited_ for the challenge. Honestly, what could he say, being employed by EA during some of the interviews without the protection of the Docs anymore, and then after the fact I'm sure he was still very proud of what they came up with, thogh he made it apparent that DA: I was not what the team envisioned)
ME: A; 5 years, decent sales (Est.
Take a second to imagine this:
EA Gives the _"Ok"_ immediately to Bioware to make Dragonage Inquisition in Unreal, which they are incredible with at this point.
I don't know if Anthem would have landed as Warframe and Destiny 2 still have the sci-fi looter shooter genre pretty locked down, but it sure as heck would have done far better, and chances are, the next Dragonage would either:
*A* Already be out
or
*B* Be right around the corner
The lost so much talent, so many irreplaceable personalities that made them who they were.
Very comprehensive catch-up video.
I am not worried one bit about the game I am only worried that we won't have anything to read or see until close to release.
Dragon age inquisitions multiplayer is atcually good though lol
@@realhagen1397 It is, actually. Was pretty fun. If they did something like that for DA4, I wouldn't be opposed. It should just be separate from the main singleplayer story.

I wouldnt mind if it were cooperitive with one two or 3 friends honestly
ive got all kinds of doubts, constant reboots, lack of leadership, all the departures, im sorry but covid can know longer be an excuse (maybe at beginning 2020), its become a crouch everyone is using still and its everyones get out of jail free card. As time passes im beginning to think if this is just an illusion. A full decade between releases is just off.
I can totally wait if it means that it will be done right and be a great game. I'm super excited.
I'm starting to suspect giving your games code names based off members of the 27 club might be a bad idea.
Its good that companies are beginning to realise that a huge map doesn't make a game good, it's the story, the voice acting, so much more than a map.
I prefer, any day, a small map but with a rich detailed story with massive amounts of voice acting.
Another Jackdaw video! Day is made!!
I'll be surprised if dragon age 4 is good. EA should have never canceled project Joplin. I'm hoping it's fantastic but I have my doubts.
So so lovely to see you back! Always enjoy your videos :)
When he says "2023" in the first 10 seconds :(
*weeps in Solomancer tears*
I hope they take there time that way it's done right and as good as we want. 🙏 thank you for the update.
It's on my list as well, fantastic piece!
As pessimistic as it may sound, the only thing I don't like about DA4 is it's creative director.
''Dragon Age has always been about belonging, about realizing that family is more than blood and about celebrating our diversity and differences'' ''Dragon Age is about hope , about how love and friendship are forces of good, and about how in the end, what we have is eachother''
What? I get _some_ of these like the family sort of, but love and friendship? Did we played the same games? What about a friend who became a terrorist blowing up part of a city and killing hundreds of innocents just to start a war, then ask you to put him out of his missery and becomin a martyr?
There is a over millenia old god that manipulated everyone and came to know people who he will then not hesitate at end to cotinue his plan of practically destroying the fcking world
What about the young boy that didn't know better and practically has the blood of innocent townsfolk in his hands because his mother even with the ''best'' of intentions was selfish and decided that her confort was better than protecting the village you rule, then also the fact that you could SELL the boy's soul to a demon for power and blood magic after also being able to sacrifice his mother for the blood necessary to go and speak to said devil?
I’m hoping that I’ll finish Origins/Awakening, II, and inquisition by then xD
Thsnks for this really informative summary ❤️
Me at least twice a year for the past thousand years: let’s see what’s happening with Dragon Age 4… Oh look Jackdaw is still keeping us updated.
I love these breakdowns and updates because you can tell your a fan of the game. Makes me feel a lot more hype when news drops because I don't go to articles etc I come here 😁😁😆
I am holding on to hope.
I'm surprised they even consider multiplayer after Andromeda and Inquisition failed...
I am so happy I joined the franchise extremely late 😂😂, like the hype for the next game has just started for me while all of you have been waiting for so long
Plus all the games were either cheap or free when I got them
Omg I’m first!!! I get so excited every time I see a video from you Jack
I'm hoping they go back to their roots with this one. The series has been going down hill since origins.
No, thanks (about the last part), I want Solas to fail. So no end of the world.
We are lucky to have a team that are very passionate about the game, meaning it will take time to get it perfect. But at the same time, I’m impatient and would love the game now. In the end I know it’ll be worth the wait. (At least I hope so 🤞)
At least we have the other games to keep us occupied, how many replays can you do? There are so many different ways you can play it 🥰
Another great video Jack 🥳
Although I would love a remaster of DA Origins 🤩
I’m enjoying getting back into the DA Inquisition. I almost forgot how much I loved it. Just wish there was more content, dlc’s available. So I’m super hyped to hear about the DA 4 release!
Like watching a train wreck in the middle of a volcano during a meteor storm
Thank you Jackdaw!
2023?!!! I think I need to forget about this game after this video. I feel like I’m teasing myself.
I'd love to see the first three games and all of the expansion packs updated with the latest engine (being used for DA:4) sometime between now and 2023, which is an awful long time to wait for the next game in the franchise without something to fill in the ever expanding gap between it and the last release.
Just take however long you need bioware..
I love youuu Jackdaw i am Renato here from Brazil! Love Dragon age yeahhh!♥️🔥
Sounds like bad management in general, that's causing talent to just throw in the towel. If this keeps up, this will be the last DA
Fewer fetch quests? I love the fetch quests! They give me something to do while I wait years for the next game!!!!
This game better have amazing tavern songs.
They need to just hire you.
What i am wondering is if are character will transfer over or will we have to re-create them.
If i know right bioware is planning to make the new dragon age for the next gen consoles only.. so i believe a lot of triple aaa games are being "delayed" till more people are putting hands on the ps5 and xbox seriesX.. which is also kinda nice because they have more time to put work in the games..so i agree with the 2023+ release date
so glad they ditched Multiplayer.
i hope the combat is more visceral and not the mmo style for Inquisition..i hated that...
Aslong as its open world like inquisition i think ill be happy
Whatever it will be... I hope with this one that they've finally decided whether they want Dragon Age to be an action RPG or a RTwP-based RPG like Origins. Inquisition being an unfocused mess made me drop the game after a few hours; it tried to appeal to both sides without excelling in any.
Frankly, all this seems less like the people leaving really feel that DA4 will be good, but that now that the worst of the garbage is weeded out they feel safe to leave. Like, it's okay to leave the sinking ship because they're not setting it on fire as they go.
much rather they spend as much time as needed to perfect the game, I can totally wait.
I cant wait.....but I will like a ancient dalish coming back when needed
Oh gosh, I'm so late to the party, but in my opinion BioWare should really take the same amount of caution and energy in developing the new Dragon Age as those guys behind all Diablo series. I don't mind waiting any time if it's going to be a masterpiece. The first Dragon Age had a bit too much pathos with a sprinkle of comic relief here and there. DA 2 was all jokes and fun until it wasn't. And Inquisition was feels and vibes everywhere. I'm dying to see all those three games mixed together with perfect balance.... and I wholeheartedly wish for Solas to be redeemed in the most perfect ways for my thirsty sisters, but for me it would be enough to have him back as my spiritual guide (pun intended). ;)
Can you do the same with mass effect 4 or is it called mass effect 5? I'm not sure if andoremia is classified as a sequel or spin-off
omg 2023??!!!! I thought it would be maybe 2022... :0
Guys, let us be realistic! At this rate, the best we could hope for is a dragon age with the same standards as Andromeda. It is sad, but at least it is better than nothing at all.
Fun fact: I still have yet to finish DA:O 😕
It's frustrating to hear that EA forced the reboot in late 2017 only to go back to singleplayer in late 2020, but as they say, better late than never. Which is my whole approach for DA4 basically.
I just want DA4 to be good, and if that means waiting until 2023\2024... I'll accept it. It'll be hard having a sequel 10 years after the last game, but hey, I'm also waiting for Elder Scrolls 6 and GTA 6, so I'm kinda used to that too. lol
"Story Hiccups" wow, nice way to dampen down the complete "F ups".
