As an aesthetic nurse injector I loveeee hearing your thoughts on injectables and minimally invasive procedures!! :) Would love a video of you outlining your entire beauty routine including procedures and how often! And/or common procedures you have many of your patients doing initially for correction and then seasonally/yearly/biyearly as part of a long term preventative/maintenance regimen, or just videos about your favorite minimally invasive treatments in general! I love all of your videos, even before I got into the field of aesthetics I learned sooo much from you which really helped transform my skin for the better!

I am in my early 50s, and my skin is changing. I'm a nurse and worked for a dermatologist in my early 30s. Thank goodness, too, because if I came to work on a Monday morning with a sunburn, I would be in trouble (I live in FL and am a runner). He taught me so much about skin and damage. I started to get botox and I’ve had really got good results from it even lifting the small fold on one of my eyes. I don’t have much excess skin on my eyes and also have dry eyes syndrome, so I’ll stick with botox until I feel like I need a brow lift.

Just fyi....you can make an appointment to see an ophthalmologist & they do a test that determines whether your sight is impaired & by how much. If they think surgery would be beneficial to your sight, they will send you to a plastic surgeon for a consult. The plastic surgeon's staff asks lots of questions & takes pictures, then they send to your insurance for pre-approval of blepharoplasty surgery. If needed for better sight - it's covered by most insurance, as a medical surgery (not cosmetic).
I'm 65 & have Medicare Advantage, so I only had to pay a $295 co-pay! If you have a high deductible, that would have to be met. If you have a year that you've met your deductible for other medical care, then it shouldn't cost anything.
When I had it, at the 3 week follow up - I was quite disheartened because it didn't seem to have made any difference in my eyesight & they were pretty puffy. But - Dr. Idris is right! It's now been almost 6 months & there is a big difference. It takes time to see the end result!
      Hope this might be helpful.

I just turned 62 and this year I noticed my face melting. My eyes make me look sad. One eye is worse than the other, and although Upneeq opens my eye, the skin continues to overlap and push on my eyelashes, which rub on my glasses. Same thing when I use eyelid tape. I no longer like to see myself in the mirror or photos. I just haven't accepted to age gracefully.

I recently found you on UA-cam and I’m so glad I did! First of all, I love your personality! You are so much fun to watch! 😊 Secondly, you have talked about so many topics that I have personally dealt with! This one in particular! I have had two eyelid surgeries on my left eyelid. Only that one started dropping many years ago. I first went to a cosmetic plastic surgeon that didn’t specialize in eyes. The drooping actually got worse. It was so disheartening. Then after it fully healed, I went to an ophthalmologist. It did help but it is not perfect. But then again what is right? I’ve left it alone and don’t notice it as much anymore. Age is taking effect now! I turn 50 this year. Also love your videos about eczema. I too suffer w eczema and allergies. I too have worn contacts daily since age 11! Keep the videos coming! Love them! And your eyes are absolutely beautiful! I certainly didn’t notice any imperfections. Thank you for the content and information!

This is literally something I'm researching right now. I'm "wiser" and I'm considering treatments/surgery. I do think the droopiness is affecting my vision as I frequently check if my vision improves if I gently lift them (it does). But I'd also want a brow lift at this point. Botox and fillers aren't working much any longer and the resulting look doesn't just make me look tired all the time, but it makes me feel tired, too. :(

I have struggled with extreme insecurities because of my eyelid that droops. My left eye. I have what's called Marcus Gund syndrome. The jaw winking syndrome.
I was so insecure because of being teased, etc, as a child and stared at. It took many years to even just overcome to a degree. I did start to feel more secure as I hit my 40s only, and I'm only 46. So not long.
But I've recently started to feel insecure again as I'm aging, as I notice my left eye becoming heavier and more noticeable. I'm not sure if it's I'm in my head as my children say they don't notice, but I'm sure it is.
I had major surgery to try and correct it when I was 6 years old. I don't think it made much of a difference, but my mom said it did.
Sometimes, I feel frustrated with why I was born like this. However, there could be lot worse things someone could have.
My Mom was given a pill to help with morning sickness, and this was a side effect. There were others who took the same medication, and the children had severe deformities, so I know I am very lucky in many ways.
It's just overwhelming when some people stare. Even at my age as much as I try to ignore them, it still upsets me. People are very disrespectful. Maybe I'm just worrying.
I would like to have a procedure to help but because it's caused by a neurological issue I'm not sure I can. You do give me hope though ❤
This is a rare syndrome not Many in the world have it. ❤

Do dermatologists do Botox for migraines?

What's your take on switching between different serums throughout the week to target different skin issues such as acne and hyperpigmention? Is it better to focus on one at a time to see the results quicker? Thank you so much for all your info. It's been very helpful.

Hi Dr. Idriss! I’ve been a fan of your videos and guidance for a few years… I’m in my 40’s, in need to start injectable’s and treatments and would fly cross-country just to see you!! However it seems new patients have to be scheduled a year out? Any suggestions? Would love to see you as I embark on my much needed journey of injectable’s and treatments. Hope to hear from you! Thanks for your videos!!

Only just this week I came to the conclusion that I have something done about my eyelids. (For another two months) I'm not even 50 yet but for past year or so it's really become an issue, and now there's not even any point using mascara. Panda eyes!🐼 I don't find that it affects my vision so I don't have my hopes up for having the NHS (DK) paying for the procedure. But thanks to this video I will make sure to get a professional check up before flashing the credit card.😏 🙏

So happy I found you... this is my 5th video watching you on shit I struggle with... with no real answers, or insight that makes sense to my occurring issues.
From niacinamide dose for hyperpigmentation being misrepresented, to this video and my fallen lacrimal gland.
I tried to tell them the lump in my eye crease happened when I had allergic triggers on after another a few years ago 1 summmer... and my roght eye was feeling more annoyed than the left it was reacting more idk why... but the rubbing i did from how horrible they were those few months...
Thats when i noticed it gradually developing a lump... and cuz of stupid covid... no one would see me and they all guessed over the phone... then last year i finally saw an orbital eye specialist and he said it was old age...
And i said i really think it was from how severe the allergies got and from rubbing... i said i beleieved its from injury..
But i get gaslighted by every doctor... and the write down all this bullshit that isnt true... cuz they dont listen to their patients to discover the cause or history of events in a timeline that gives so many clues.

I dont know who needs to hear this but I fixed mine, no surgery needed. One time doc suggested I use a corticosteroid for my skin to be more thin and thats when I realised. Droopy eyelid is caused either by weak muscles or just additional skin. If the latter, buy a weak corticosteroid over the counter, rub it on the eyelid and youll make it thinner - its a side effect of the drug. I did it, now it looks symmetrical even without using it (the reason I said that is cause it lubricates the skin giving you an impression of the droopy eyelid being smaller) but of course - consult this with a doctor blabla. 🙂

    Hi dr. Shereene,
I would to ask you about the damages make-up can cause over the years.
We usually focus so much on using the good products with the perfect ingredients for our skin. In this process, we usually think that our skin will absorb “the good things”. Later on, we put makeup on, such as foundation, blushes, eye shadow, and so forth. We then forget that make-up also have ingredients, and that our skin will absorb those ingredients from our make-up too over the years as well as any other products for the skin. Make-up can then be counterproductive, especially if some ingredients in the make-up products cause dryness, itchiness and irritation, while other ingredients may be harmful using in the long term without any visible changes that could be seen on a regular day-to-day basis.
Which ingredients in make-up products should we stay away from? Which ingredients in make-up is good for the skin and which ingredients are bad for the skin? Should we stay away from make-up or can we use it all-year-around without any damages on the skin connected to the long-term use of make-up?
I think this is a topic that skincare nerds usually forget about. Our skin will absorb the ingredients in make-up just as any other product applied to the skin.
I'm looking forward to see you cover this topic Shereene.
    Sincerely,
    Sija
