You're the best. As a science student I absolutely love how you speak based on research. Makes me trust you more than someone who just makes unsupported claims
I have AGA and I am using PRP, minoxidil and Nizoral for almost 3 years now. This has worked for me and it's nice to hear i am doing the right thing! Will definitely try out the Rosemary oil as an extra!
Hi! I think I've seen at least 50 videos now about hair loss. This was definitely one of my favorites. Thank you so much about mentioning how much of a psychological effect it can have... and of showing your hair :) Makes me feel seen and trust that I'm watching the right person. Thank you! I wasn’t even experiencing hair loss, I just was curious and wanted to start a better hair routine to make my fine and fragile hair better. So I booked an appointment with a Trichologist (free consultation at a pharmacy). He said my hair is weak, my scalp problematic and he couldn’t see new any hair growth at all. I was told I have Androgenetic Alopecia and he suggested 4 products out of his catalogue from his own brand for 100€. I booked an appointment with a dermatologist because I was just shocked that he mentioned Alopecia. The dermatologist didn’t look at my scalp closer, didn’t test anything at all, only told me I must have Androgenetic Alopecia and I should take oral Minoxidil for the rest of my life. No blood tests, no nothing. I am only seeing my scalp now, whenever I see myself in the mirror and showering and drying my hair makes me sweat, it is intense, just like you said. From the picture in the video, I think I am a grade I and I just don’t want to believe that there is nothing I can do apart from Minoxidil. I’m seeing so many people on social media talking about deep oiling, scalp massaging, microneedling and I do believe that it works for them and want to try that before just taking oral minoxidil forever. It just scares me that I can’t stop it or I’d lose all hair I gained. Every doctor here on UA-cam advises to go to a Dermatologist, but I can just say, the doctors I’ve seen disappointed me. They disregard all the alternatives I see everywhere online, just say that social media is all fake and that’s it. The trichologist almost screamed when I mentioned oil on the scalp. "NEVER put oil on your scalp." I don't know if he has looked at shampoos lately. I hardly believe that all verified, certified doctors here on UA-cam are making things up. I feel like the doctors here on UA-cam educate themselves much more with newer studies instead of only relying on what they learned 20 years ago at university. I’ve now decided to go ahead with oiling and scalp massaging, also getting vitamins and I was thinking about microneedling, but am scared to ruin the hair I have (although I’ve seen great results) and see what happens in 6 months. It is really hard. One day I think - it's not even that bad! And then I see myself in a mirror in a store or elevator and want to start crying. Much love and strength and patience to all people experiencing this - or even worse cases. ❤ Until about 4 weeks ago, I had no idea about all of this.
I can totally relate. Every time I shower and wash hair I’m so anxious. I too have androgenetic alopecia with possible telogen effluvium). I can’t take minoxidil so I’m on another med. also trialling some lllt and some neuroceuticals. I’m crossing my fingers. It’s all consuming some days. I like you think ‘oh it’s not too bad today and then see myself (from the back) and just want to get home. I wish you all the best.
@@iwatchvideos9187 Hi! Honestly, not really. I think it's not gotten worse though. I have tried hair oiling, different supplements, microneedling, a hair growth serum and scalp massages. I really wish I could say it worked, but no. I'm honestly thinking about starting oral minoxidil soon
for those looking into Nutrafol, Codeage has a "Hair Vitamins" supplement that is very very similar, it includes essentially all of the "extras" that nutrafold includes. and, anecdotally, it worked the same for me! oh, and it's half the price (about 33-39, depending on where you buy it)
Yes it worked for increasing my hair growth. used reeactivate serum 3 bottles already and was also applying cocoonnion shampoo along with the cocooonion conditioner. now that I m at 55 days, and I m seeing more volume on my scalp
nice tips. i make sure to drink plenty of water daily. i apply the reactivatee serum and massage my scalp with cooconion oil from liittleextra. following this routine has really helped me regrow my hair.
I have been on a prescription minoxidil/finasteride scalp spray for 6 months. I am showing new hairs that are about 1" long. I have been thinning for about the last 15 years. So far I am happy with the results. I told myself I would give it one year. So far, so good.
@@lokiyan Not really. I use it at night and it does feel a bit oily at the time I apply it, but by morning, it doesn't seem oily. I usually wash it out in the morning, but there have been times when I have just misted my hair and re-blow dried and styled my hair.
I was on monoxidil for 4 years. The max regrowth you get is up until 1 year and then it's maintenance. At 2.5 years my hair started falling out even worse than before I started. Used still constantly for about another 2 years and it did nothing but speed up the hairless process. I have stopped using it and my hair falls out at a slower pace than before I was on it. It's an absolute garbage product with extremely minimal results as far as growing your hair back. I would say it's not worth it and will never go back to monoxidil again. Diet change, natural oils and getting your vitamins tested to see where you may have deficiency is the best.
Great informative video. Appreciate the common sense down to earth approach. As a retired RN including working at NYU and Bellevue Derm in the past, I appreciate the work you all do.
these are great ! I've used 2 of the prescription options and I can say that it has been great. Ladies don't wait till is too late make the appointments to your dermatologist.
I recently started using the litttleextra reactiivatte growth serum recently, and it's made from natural ingredients. The superior combination of rosemary at 2% and 3% redensyl is truly pure and organic. Not a fan of serums, but this serum is a game changer for me and my highly sensitive scalp. The curry leaves and fenugreek in this serum have helped reduce my hair fall. I can see increased hair growth on my forehead where I applied it the most.
i have heard a lot about littleextrsa reactiavatte hair growth serum, so I decided to try 4 bottles until now and I was surprised to see new baby hair growing.
I’ve been using rosemary oil on my scalp for a little over 6 months. I only use it once or twice a week before I wash my hair (I let it sit on my scalp for at least 30 minutes prior to washing it off) I started noticing less fall out in the shower within the first month. Since I have been very consistent with it, the longer I’ve been using it (again I only use it once or twice a week) the less fall out I’ve been seeing. I could literally get clumps in the drain causing the water to not be able to drain, and would have to clean it out of the way at least 2-3 times whenever I washed my hair. Now I rarely have to clean hair out of the drain at all.

Wow! Great timing- I have in the past experienced a number of types of hair loss from different causes, but it has always eventually grown back. I am now going through another phase, and it's so good to hear in a clear, informative fashion, what all the treatment options are. I'm already using some of them, but will continue to discuss further possibilities with my dermatologist. Thank you!
Love all of this!! My sweet mom has had a rough few years (my dad passing, dx of multiple myeloma, moving in w my wacky fam) and she became fixated on her hair loss. This video really opened my eyes to the psychological aspect- I have always tried to be compassionate and empathetic but this really helped. Thank you so much for all you do, Ms Sassy Pants (that’s what I call you when talking to my adult besties and sharing your videos! Haha). Appreciate all you do!

Dang! I am an RN, who is very into hair loss and the climical reason "why" and what a person at home can do to help themselves. You did a fantastic job at going through the things available for people who cant go to a Board Certified Dermatologist. One thing to add, if a person can afford it, PRP is available for pregnant woman. Also, there is a lot if newer evidence and ongoing research regarding near and Infrared light therapy. It can be coupled with Minoxidil and a DHT inhibitor shampoo, which obviously gives a person the best results. Great video!!
@@Zizi462 Yes, I'm using the iRestore Professional hemet and it made my hair grow really fast. There will probably be some fallout at first because it stimulates the hair follicles, but I could tell my hair was growing fast because of the length of the grays at 4 weeks, and 6 weeks... Longer than usual.
Thank you for acknowledging that this has massive psychological effects. I lost a ton of hair this past fall and winter. It came out in handfuls in the shower. Sometimes the water didn't drain well through the hair trap. It was alarming. I'm tapering one of my medications in case that's the culprit. TBH, I'd rather have my chronic pain issues back (extensive ortho problems) than to be bald.
Just curious if the medication you're tapering is Cymbalta (duloxetine). I started taking it for chronic neck pain and it destroyed my hair. It's so brittle and falling out. I started tapering in March. It will take me 2 & 1/2 years to get off of it!
I just had COVID in May and now I've noticed how thin my hair is on top. Thank you for letting us know this is a side effect. Hoping it fills in again.
Same for me, it's very demoralizing, and I feel self conscious about it. I also found out that my BP med (beta blocker) can cause hair thinning, but the prescribing Dr won't confirm it. My hair was always fine, never thick but I had enough of it, now I can see my entire scalp! Covid seems to have a long lasting effect on hair loss. I'm going to try minoxodil/rogaine.
What a great video! So informative and helpful and the fact that you showed your hair at the end was awesome, makes me feel better for sure. Hair loss is so upsetting and stressful.
Great video. I have two questions regarding hair loss treatment discussed in your video: 1) Does Monoxidil do anything to color-treat hair (fade/strip the color) or interact with hair dye? and 2) Can you use Monoxidil on eyebrows? A different dermatologist stated you can get a cotton pad and wipe Monoxidil over eyebrows, but was silent as risks due to proximity to eyes.
Thanks for the useful info! I, too, has been suffered with hair loss all along as someone who has PCOS with female pattern hair loss running in my family. I was in the the beginning of Ludwig scale in stage 2 earlier this year and it hit me really hard. So I finally went to consult with dermatologist and she suggested PRP treatments and also prescribed oral and topical minoxidil and oral spironolactone. Also, I invested in iRestore LED cap thingy as well. So far, I’m about 5 months in the journey already and I see quite a dramatic result - my bald spot is barely there, the hair diameter is much thicker and the hair itself feels healthier than ever. So I do agree, you have to do everything in your power and I know it takes a LOT of effort and money but I swear it’s incomparable to the confidence I got back.
I just saw a dermatologist. I showed him a photo of the amount of hair I lose after 3-5 days of no washng my hair. I have naturally greasy scalp. He examined and said that 50 to even 200 hairs a day can be normal. He said he would not be worried if he was me. Asked about my parent's hair if they suffer from balding (which they do not) and then said if I am worried he can prescribed a hair foam / mousse that is medicated. But he looked at the photo of my hair and said it is normal we all lose hair and I look normal. I feel relieved. Since I was a teen I always shredded the same amount in the shower which seem like a lot. I thought I was losing more but he is a doctor with experience and looked at my scalp pulled on it a little and looked at my photo of my shredded hair from my shower. I am also seeing a endocrinologist who gave me 7 blood tests hormones and full blood counts. She can also examine and prescribe supplements to prevent a problem. He said pumpkin seed oil is ok with him if I feel it is good but he said if there was a problem he would prewcribe to me a hair foam which is medicated and works.

Thank you so much Dr Shereen , I'll be 22 in nov and I've had AGA since the age of 13 and it's been mentally challenging and extremely distressing but your video really helped me a lot
I think you need to use rosemary oil in some other "carrier" oil at a low percentage.( I'd like more information on that). I have found leaving it on my scalp (overnight) not diluted seemed to burn my scalp, it even formed scabs! This is just a friendly note of caution, have you used it, how did you find it?
@@solitairestarr5516 I have been mixing rosemary oil with my shampoo and give my scalp a massage before rinsing away ... that was how I use but you'd better consult with your dermatologist as I am not sure how to apply for twice daily.
I'm a female and my hair thinning starts at the crown. It started when I was in my early 20s, now I'm in my 30 haven't progress so much but definitely so much thinner.
Thank u doc, it was very informative , so , clearly step by step explained . I don't think I have come across video like yours where hair fall has been talked about so openly , honestly.. thank u again.. keep doing the good work.. you are a savior for many of us.. I pity people who follow the paid influencers who lie through their teeth to make money from gullible
Minoxidil was a game changer for me when my hair started thinning during Covid. My mom has extremely thin hair and I did not want to end up that way. It takes consistency and patience!!! My hairdresser tells everyone because there is such a marked difference in my hair (my hair is long). The only challenge is, after moving to a dry climate, part of my scalp is dry (unfortunately in front). I think it is also affected by my use of tretinoin. But anyway- absolutely recommend minoxidil (5%)!!!!
How often do you use minoxidil? I have AGA and my dermatologist prescribed me the 5% version but only 3 times per week. I haven’t noticed any improvement at all after 4 months, I wonder whether I should use it more often. Thank u
@@etorres5823 hi- I was using it once every day in the beginning religiously- and it was really hard to see that it was working until maybe 6 months in. Now a couple of years later with consistent use, the new growth continues to be significantly thicker. Hth!
It’s great. I wasn’t seeing my scalp but my hair breakage was bad as it was so frail. Now it’s so thick and healthy I might have to cut bangs! I just use 5% the night before I wash it. So three times o week
@@sanchez6254 simple answer - I buy the 5% for men. For the lower percentage, It is the same exact ingredients for men or women - and as a matter of fact, they charge MORE for the same product labeled for women (the pink tax) ugh!
Dr Dray had horrible fine broken hair years ago and she used the I Restore light treatment cap and her hair is gorgeous thick and shiny today so happy for her 😊
Hi Dr Idriss I was wondering if you know anything about Minoxidil causing facial aging? There are theories that minoxidil affects collagen and thus contributes to facial aging, I'm not sure how legitimate these theories are but would love to hear an informed opinion on it before I start thank you!
I have been using Rogaine 5% for at least 6 months and my hair has filled in and now falls a normal amount. It is still thin at the crown but better than it was. I tried Nizerol but had a terrible allergic reaction to it. Oddly enough, not on my scalp but I had a very red itchy rash on my neck. I looked up what other shampoo might work well with Rogaine and Viviscal, which is a hair thickening shampoo, was mentioned. I have been using that for about a month now and it is making my hair appear fuller. I also use a hair vitamin supplement and incorporated in a scalp serum by The Ordinary. Tried Rosemary oil but it just made my scalp feel greasing and itchy. Like you said, throw everything and the kitchen sink at it!
I had significant hair loss after menopause. The shedding phase just seemed to go on and on hair coming out in clumps. I started on hydrolysed collagen to see if this helped. Around the same time I bought an LED panel which I used religiously facing front, sides and back of head & neck. Within around 6 months significantly less shedding and around a year I have seen significant improvements, hair thicker and less hair free patches ❤
You're so right about the psychological side effects, especially when you don't want to even be in public anymore. I had breast cancer a few years ago and all my hair fell out from chemotherapy. It grew back in so slowly and thin that I almost prefer being bald again. I have to be on estrogen suppressants for the rest of my life basically, but my doctor shrugs off my hair loss issues since it's not a real oncology medical concern. Would any of these options work for me or do I need to just accept this hair loss forever?
Mine eventually grew back but now after ten years it’s buggering off again and I’m living in permanent chemo flashbacks mode. Can’t cope. Hope yours improves. Drs don’t get it. They think it’s just hair. I understand that they have to tell patients that they are going to die every day, and compared to that, it is just hair. But to us, this isn’t a rational response, it’s the feelings around cancer tied up in hair loss that never go away and we are stuck seeing it every time we look in a mirror forever. No where to hide.
Have you ever try sublingual biotin tab? I had a different surgery to where I cut my hair above my neck because I needed more than a year to recover and during those times, I had to be on iron supplement. After the course of the supplement, there were other issues, such as graying of the hair, and my scalp would have bumps in it after trying to dye my hair. Most of the time the hair loss is caused by not brushing my hair before I take a shower I’m shampooing my hair. It would fall off in tangles after I shower and also after I dye my hair, but then again, eventually it will grow back slowly and gradually, but I have a receding fore head at a young age when I was a minor. I think that part is genetic. My dad also was bald when he got older. When I took Isleton, I notice is gradually working or maybe it was just working on its own, even without the biotin. Taking boot did not hurt it. I did not take it daily nor weekly. I just took it whenever I remember to take it and I do not take it on the daily. I try not to dye my hair as often but it’s tough. I’ve been but works to wear because my hair is going gray. The hardest part is this hair wigs sometimes they don’t even look real even though they are expensive.

What??? I've seen countless dermatologists for my hair loss due to inflammation from allergy shots and none of them ever told me about Nizoral to help with the inflammation. I've had PRP 6 times, Laser, Exosomes twice, and so much more. Thank you!
My son suffered from dandruff pretty much from birth! I took him to several doctors including a dermatologist with no relief. I finally did some research on my own and found that some causes can be fungal in nature and bought the antifungal shampoo. His dandruff cleared up in about 3 weeks of use (using 3 days per week) and has not returned in over 6 months of use!!! I would recommend trying an antifungal shampoo to ANYONE struggling with dandruff or scalp issues!
Thank Dr. Idriss! I'm going through hairloss caused by telogen effluvian. It has been mentally devastating to me, and after 4 months of shedding, it's finally slowing down. Sending love and light to anyone dealing with hair loss. ❤❤❤
Love your videos! I would like to hear your thoughts on light therapy for hair loss. I’ve been using my light pad and seeing more baby hairs growing in.
I’m a woman. Ive been using 5% minoxidil for years. I have the generic alopecia. It works. If I stop using it, my hair stops growing… so you have to know that you’re marrying this med.
Good advice shereene many thanx M stil surprised u hv not mentioned hrt my hair improved alot since i started hrt hairfall reduced n my lashes hv also grown m so happy ....i had lost so much hair while on minoxidil wd never ever go bak on it
Just wanted to point out that the 2% Minoxidil is not a waste of time, effort, energy and money for some women out there. I totally get that the 5% is safe for women, but it did make me somehow grow far more hair on my face and body to a point where I couldn't even deal with it. I know I'm not the only woman who has had this happen with it, even if most probably wouldn't experience this. Changing to the 2% did resolve this side effect, while remainging effective at regrowing my hair through years of chronic telogen effluvium. I don't know what I'd do if they stopped making the 2%.
I been taking collagen on my coffee every morning and pumpkin seed supplements, I can see less hair on my shower , and some baby hair coming out on the temple where I could see some thinning before
So grateful for this video Dr. Idriss. I have been losing my hair and now I understand what is causing it. I have a thyroid condition and going through menopause. As per my doctor, I was taking biotin and had to stop as it was interfering with my medication. Good luck to your hubby!
My endocrinologist said biotin doesn’t affect actual thyroid hormones or function, but may affect the test. So she has me stop biotin 1-2 weeks before getting TSH tested, then I just resume taking it. In other words, biotin doesn’t interfere with medicine, but may interfere with lab tests.
@@kristintrapp623is this true also for very small doses of biotin? The super high doses that are several times over the daily recommended amount, I understand causing issues
I was diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia at age 29 and was devastated. Spironolactone, oral minoxidil, and ketoconazole shampoo 2% have made a major difference. I also recommend reducing the amount of bleach/permanent color applied to the hair. I switched to demi-permanent color with fewer applications, and I’ve noticed my hair is glossier and has less breakage.
I am 46 yrs old, I was on birth control pills from age 18 until 01/2023 (27.5 yrs on the low dose pill). I have thinning at the crown so a widened hair part. Tired Minixodil for 3 months in 2021 & it gave massive migraine headaches so I could not do long term.
Wow! Loved your video. You explained very clearly. My bald spot came from extreme stress situation 4 years ago. Bald spot is still there, you’ve given me hope with this video. I will try some of the products you showed, thank you again, God bless
I had significant hair loss after both my kids were born. I've never met another person who has this happen (which makes me happy because I don't want others to go through the horror of losing that much hair!) When I say handfuls of hair fell out, I mean literal handfuls each time I washed my hair for several months. It was awful (but it has grown back, thankfully!)
I have had hair loss on and off since I was a teenager. It grew back on and off and was thinning slowly. After having 2 kids with the past 3 years, I have 1/3 of my hair. It sucks. I don't have anybody else who has this problem after having kids. I'm sorry you are experiencing this too, but I'm glad you said something. Now I know I'm not alone. ❤
My youngest is 7 so thankfully my hair is fully grown in. However, it's now wavy so I'm having to learn how to style it because my hair was stick straight before! 💜
My hair grew well while I was pregnant, and looked better than ever, but became really thin afterwards. The hair loss was awful, nobody warns us about this, although I'm sure other women have this experience.
my hairs was always thin but a few months after having covid my hair started falling out like crazy, its been a year and am still not fully back to what it was, altouhgt yes i see its less thin, but i am concerned because each fall i tend to loose a bit of extra hair. Thank you for this video, gives me hope
A saw a video of a doctor saying that putting a little bit of coffee in your shampoo when you shower can help. I can’t remember why but I wanna say it would massage and stimulate your follicles? Kinda like that brush you can get on Amazon for when you’re shampooing. Would love to hear what Dr. Idriss thinks of that 🫶🏼
This couldn’t come at a more perfect time. I’m struggling with female pattern loss at the top of my crown. I just started the 5% and want to layer other options.
If someone had told me to start using topical Minoxidil at the age of 16 (and to never stop using it ever), I would have never lost my hair and I wouldn’t have had to spend so much money trying to get it back 😢

I lost 2/3 of my hair going through a horrible breakup which caused a psychotic breakdown. Only about half of it came back so I'm at like 66% of what I used to have. Fortunately I had too much hair to begin with, it was so heavy I couldn't wear it up because it gave me headaches. So I'm happy now as long as I don't lose hair later
I'd love a deep dive on bakuchiol, and how it can act as a replacement for retinol during pregnancy 😊. I'd also love to hear out your opinion on Crescina hair loss/growth treatments, they are quite a hype in Europe! Thank you so much for all the valuable information you make time to share with us every week!❤
Thanks again for your honesty and wisdom! I was just checking if my hairloss treatment matches and it does. Except for the shampoo. Oral minoxidil and dustasteride. Although I have an androgenetia alopecia diagnosed I also have telog.ef. episodes depending on stress. So hairloss for me guaranteed! It's a nightmare.
Thank you so much for all your insight! Very direct and easy to follow! I just made rosemary water and oil for the first time this week. Thanks to you I now know to use the rosemary water TWICE a day! I have psoriasis and definitely have more hair shedding and thinning… I’m hoping this works for me! 💕
Can you do a video on skincare products for bald scalps? e.g., can you still use retinoids and exfoliating acids on your scalp? Should we expect this area to be more irritating that other areas? Are there skin concerns that we talk about frequently for the face which are unlikely to be a significant concern for the scalp? Since shaving one's head causes mircocuts on a regular basis, should we be using skin protectants and does it matter which one?
I was just put on spironolactone for edema. My hair is recovering from a kidney transplant and anti-rejection meds that cause hair loss. I hope this helps even more.
Great comprehensive rundown. I’ve been taking finasteride pills daily for 5 years and it’s been the only thing to stop further loss. Unfortunately I haven’t seen any hair regrowth. I wish I started earlier. For minoxidil I highly recommend the foam one if you have a bad reaction with the liquid version. Did you experience any of the side effects of Finasteride? I'm a 30year old male and I'm worried about the decreased libido & possible ED from Finasteride.
My been working at my job for a year and 10 months now , I noticed my hair thin out yes my work is stressful and I suspected it to be stress thank you for the video. My family doesn't have hair loss issues. Thanks for the tips
Nice video! Thank you. I would argue that 2% minoxidil for women is bc of side effects. Some minoxidil gets absorbed into circulation (mostly doesn’t cross brain blood barrier so staying in head). Thus headaches, face swelling and beard growth can happen in some people despite applying minoxidil elsewhere on the head. It’s all individual but I would say that women should probably start with 2% and if no side effects, go up to 5%.
Post "wanting a baby" age...I used Monoxidil men's formula. I think it worked..a bit but my scalp started to scab, after a few weeks. I think I was too sensitive to it. However, I don't think I lost more hair when I stopped using it. I think it's a very personal experiment. I would never shy anyone from it.
Minoxidil 5%, Nizoral, Rosemary oil, prescription finastride, spirilactum.

Very helpful, thank you!! And yes, hair loss takes a HUGE mental toll…I’m 36 and I’ve been dealing with it since I’m 21. It’s awful.
I've watched several podcasts on hair loss...this one is the BEST! Thanks!
This is the best video I’ve seen on hair loss. I really really appreciate that you promote finding a root cause if possible. Thank you!
I would love to see a video on causes and potential reversal of gray hair. I love the level of detail you give on all your videos!!
Me too!!

People who have you as a derm are so lucky. So honest and truthfull. Here in the Netherlands most lie to us and uses us for money
I have AGA and I am using PRP, minoxidil and Nizoral for almost 3 years now. This has worked for me and it's nice to hear i am doing the right thing! Will definitely try out the Rosemary oil as an extra!
Minoxidil didnot effect on your body hair ? I mean it didn't make your body hair grow faster or thicker ?
Hi! I think I've seen at least 50 videos now about hair loss. This was definitely one of my favorites. Thank you so much about mentioning how much of a psychological effect it can have... and of showing your hair :)
Makes me feel seen and trust that I'm watching the right person.
Hi have you seen any results in the past 8 months?
@@iwatchvideos9187 Hi! Honestly, not really. I think it's not gotten worse though. I have tried hair oiling, different supplements, microneedling, a hair growth serum and scalp massages. I really wish I could say it worked, but no. I'm honestly thinking about starting oral minoxidil soon

I have been on a prescription minoxidil/finasteride scalp spray for 6 months. I am showing new hairs that are about 1" long. I have been thinning for about the last 15 years. So far I am happy with the results. I told myself I would give it one year. So far, so good.
Thanks for this information 👍👍
Do you find that Minoxidil makes your hair greasy? That's what's been stopping me from getting back into it.
@itsmecheryl1231 - what’s the name of this spray? Is it prescription? I’m intrigued.

Rosemary oil has helped me a lot too. I have been using it for about two years and it’s amazing.

Red light therapy could work for women?

Same here, i had it last year also after covid! Now for the second time 😢
I'm the same too. Ever since I got covid last year, my hair keeps thinning.
I developed bald patches during covid, mostly resolved. Hair still thinner than pre-covid pandemic.

Really helpful. Thanks for the comment

I just saw a dermatologist. I showed him a photo of the amount of hair I lose after 3-5 days of no washng my hair. I have naturally greasy scalp. Minoxidil was a game changer for me when my hair started thinning during Covid. My mom has extremely thin hair and I did not want to end up that way. It takes consistency and patience!!! My hairdresser tells everyone because there is such a marked difference in my hair (my hair is long). Hi Dr Idriss I was wondering if you know anything about Minoxidil causing facial aging? There are theories that minoxidil affects collagen and thus contributes to facial aging, I'm not sure how legitimate these theories are but would love to hear an informed opinion on it before I start thank you!
Heard the same and stopped using it because of it!
Do you part your hair so the light hits the scalp or just aim it so the light is at your head?

I'm in the same situation. I just started Nutrafol. Expensive so I help it works.
Thank you for this video ❤️ I’m rapidly losing my hair and I’m very distressed about it. I don’t want this to be my reality. It is hard😢

Love your videos! I would like to hear your thoughts on light therapy for hair loss. I’ve been using my light pad and seeing more baby hairs growing in.
The Kérastase hair serums and ketoconazole shampoo and naturaltech thickening tonic are helping me 😊
I’m a woman. Ive been using 5% minoxidil for years. I have the generic alopecia. It works. If I stop using it, my hair stops growing… so you have to know that you’re marrying this med.
More more more on HAIR LOSS 🙏🏽💕
Good advice shereene many thanx
M stil surprised u hv not mentioned hrt my hair improved alot since i started hrt hairfall reduced n my lashes hv also grown m so happy ....i had lost so much hair while on minoxidil wd never ever go bak on it
Just wanted to point out that the 2% Minoxidil is not a waste of time, effort, energy and money for some women out there.
I been taking collagen on my coffee every morning and pumpkin seed supplements, I can see less hair on my shower , and some baby hair coming out on the temple where I could see some thinning before
after Covid in dec 2023 I lost a 1/4 of my hair that was very long.I now have a 5 in. pony tail and its growing back :) Thank GOD!
How did you do it
So grateful for this video Dr.
Thanks, Kristin for the explanation. @@kristintrapp623
I think I menifested this video 😮 I am so happy to hear about it from you ❤
I am 46 yrs old, I was on birth control pills from age 18 until 01/2023 (27.5 yrs on the low dose pill). I have thinning at the crown so a widened hair part. Tired Minixodil for 3 months in 2021 & it gave massive migraine headaches so I could not do long term.
It good be pre menopauze symptomes the cause of your hadaches
Wow! Loved your video. You explained very clearly. My bald spot came from extreme stress situation 4 years ago. Bald spot is still there, you’ve given me hope with this video. I will try some of the products you showed, thank you again, God bless
Omg just yesterday I was searching for your channel for hair Care videos and could only find one from 2 years ago 😭 thank you for posting!!
Thank goodness I knew about the possibility of hair loss after having a baby but oh boy it's still terrible
@@margaretr5701another nasty side effect of pregnancy
my hairs was always thin but a few months after having covid my hair started falling out like crazy, its been a year and am still not fully back to what it was, altouhgt yes i see its less thin, but i am concerned because each fall i tend to loose a bit of extra hair.
Idriss thinks of that 🫶🏼
And what about i-restore? You haven't mentioned it.
This couldn’t come at a more perfect time. I’m struggling with female pattern loss at the top of my crown. I just started the 5% and want to layer other options.
Hello! Did it help u?
If someone had told me to start using topical Minoxidil at the age of 16 (and to never stop using it ever), I would have never lost my hair and I wouldn’t have had to spend so much money trying to get it back 😢
Topical steroids have huge side effects.
I love this Drs honesty as well her open ❤ to share all this information ❤
I lost 2/3 of my hair going through a horrible breakup which caused a psychotic breakdown. Only about half of it came back so I'm at like 66% of what I used to have. Fortunately I had too much hair to begin with, it was so heavy I couldn't wear it up because it gave me headaches. So I'm happy now as long as I don't lose hair later
Did you use any of the suggested treatments?
For your information, pay attention not to use shampoo which contains S.L.S. (sulphates) which can damage your hair. Jenny B.
Please do a video on products (skincare and haircare) for people trying to get pregnant or are pregnant! Love your advice!
What is your thought on red LED light for hair growth stimulation ? Thank you!

what about red LED light therapy like the iRestore hat, any good?
Great video with great information and thank you for mentioning that medicine is not just a science but an art.
First time catching you on a Saturday...Just found you yesterday and completely Binged watch so many videos last night lol. ❤😊
I think the propylene glycol in the liquid one made my scalp unbearably itchy.
