I'm able to use tret 0.05% on my neck regularly after years of building up to it. When I tried to move to 1% my neck did not like it lol. Hopefully it will pay off and I'll have the smoothest neck in the elderly assisted living facility. 🤣 Thanks for another wonderful video. ❤️
That's awesome! I've been using my 0.025% tret on my neck every night for at least six months after building up tolerance, like you. My neck loves it! I typically get acne there, so that's why I use it, but if it stimulates collagen then that's a bonus!
I can use Tretinoin 0.05 on my neck and chest no problem. I haven’t tried a stronger percentage. Funny but my neck and chest won’t tolerate Vit C. Ok by me, Tretinoin is better.
Me too! I never even thought about it. I use Retin A and never had a problem. My dermatologist just said to use it on my face, neck and under eyes, wait a few minutes and then use moisturizer.
I usually pull my skincare down my neck, especially sunscreen and peptides. For retinoids: when I switched to a higher potency for the face, I had leftover granactive 5% in squalane from the ordinary. It's cheap and it absolutely does the job without irritating the skin. Can recommend
Yes! Thank you Dr. Idris. I never used anything, not even sunscreen until I was in my mid 30's.😩🤦🏼♀️ I started bc I saw how damaged my chest was and then I started researching, reading articles and following skincare doctors on here. I shared what I found out with my daughters regarding the importance of sunscreen and skincare too, now they're telling their children. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge with us. I started following you years back and was, so blessed you promised to start filming every Saturday. 🙌🏽 I am extremely excited to see you have your own skincare line now!! 😁 God bless your journey! 🙏🏽 ❤️Maddy
I’m 45 and I bought one retinol with Ferulic Acid by Medix plus dreamy youth pestides cremes with Collagen and coconut cream and I been putting them on my face and neck for about a week and I noticed a big change in my face and neck.. it’s kinda reverted the horizontal lines and smooth my face so much.. I’m fascinated by it..
Thank you for all of the effort you have put into this channel. You have made skincare knowledgeable accessible and understandable for everyone. Your videos have helped me to develop a routine that addresses my skin concerns and understand the importance of the different ingredients. I am no longer hoping for the best when I buy something. Is it possible to do a video different skincare procedures you can/should consider getting done in a dermatologist’s office? I read of all of the different types of things people can do, such as lasers, peels, PRP, etc., and it is overwhelming figuring out what is best and what can be prioritized.
I really wish people would also give an affordable version of product as a regular thing. I'm sure there are comparable products if for no other reason than expanding the ability for people to find products when the ones shown can't be.
Hello Dr. Idris, your childhood neck story took me back to my own. In the soft spot that drips in I had a bad hyperpigmentation spot. My mum thought I didn't wash my neck off good enough and tried scrubbing the dirt off. Thank God my Aunt (her suster) who was a nurse came over. She stopped my mum due to the redness and blood she'd caused. Told my mum it was hyperpigmentation. Thank God it eventually went Away. But to this day I can still feel her scrubbing my neck with soap and a wash cloth. Have a great day. I've been enjoying your skin care for a week now.
I use Tretinoin on my face and Differin gel on my neck. My neck tolerates it extremely well. Some nights I get brave and use tret on my neck. No issues so far. I also use it on the tops of my arms and it has removed sun spots rather quickly!
As always, thank you for the continued education! Would love to see a PillowTalk Derm video on fighting irregular skin textures left behind from acne and sun damage.
No one has perfect skin, even not the beautiful dr Idriss. Don't try to emulate perfection, it doesn't exist and will make you take for granted small and realistic improvements to your skin. Caring for your skin can definitely improve the look of your skin, but even people with seemingly perfect skin still have good skin days and bad skin days and that is totally normal.
After training my face and neck to tolerate Avene 0.1 retinaldehyde, I moved forward with a 2% granactive retinoid. My face was tolerant but my neck was not. Now I use a 1% granactive retinoid on my neck and my neck tolerates the 1% just fine. The Cetraben Cream sounds INTERESTING! Must give that moisturizer a try. Thanks Doc!
I suffer from the neck band, the rings and saginess due to recent weight loss. Though I'm thrilled with the weight loss I feel that it's giving my age more than my face but I've always been really good at treating everything down to my chest. I have done some retinol but not peptide or in office procedure, which is probably what I'll end up doing 😕
I have deep horizontal lines on my neck since adolescence. I started my retinol journey with l’oreal. But my neck hated it. Then I tried Paula’s Choice 0.3%, both my face and neck loved it. It took some patience and caution for my neck to get used to it. I have seen improvement. Now I am trying Avene 0.05% retinaldehyde. So far I can use once a week on neck with no irritation. Let’s see! Slow and steady wins the race! Thank you, for another great video.
I do bring my products down my neck and chest but also if there is a tiny touch extra, I rub it on the back of my hands. I want to try both products but SkinMedica will have to wait. I also love how you are honest about what you use and appreciate what sponsorships you believe in and would use. Thank you for all the amazing nerdy information as I love it!!!
To me, it only seems logical to pull everything down to the neck. My mom got me on a routine when I was 15, just a cleanser and moisturizer, but she always emphasized how we need to take care of that area. I'm 41 now, and this summer my friend complimented me on how smooth my neck looked 💖
Thank you for the advice!! I stopped using retinol on my neck after I got a bad red rash. I'll have to try one of these products as I've been weary to go back and try retinol on it again. I'd love a video on how to tell if your overdoing it with your skincare. What signs and symptoms to look for and what to do if you skin is on skincare overload.
Your skin is always so beautiful but I had to stop and put it in writing today!!! Love your personality!!! Thank you for your whit and charisma every Saturday! ❤
Thank you for those suggestions and learnings i'm from the generation of no spf and i used cream for my face but not no much on my neck so i've started to take care of my neck only 5 years ago. It needs love...
Thank you Dr. Idriss for emphasizing the importance of starting out with a retinol based product that has a low percentage of retinol. Years ago I started using a retinol product that caused a burning (not tingling or stinging) sensation on my skin. To this day I don't know the percentage of retinol that was used. Needless to say I haven't repurchased it. But because that experience was such a bad one I appreciate the emphasis on starting out with a low dose of retinol. Thank you for continuing to educate us and for recommending products that have a wide variety of price points.
Please make a skincare routine for an adult with mild acne on face with products over the counter without fragance, essential oils, and alcohol. Thank you so much.
I'm a witch! and before this video arrived and at three weeks of my 70s, I started treating my neck with retinol again! I did it years ago with tretinoin, but it was too irritating! Thanks Doc!😊
Great content. I use cerave retinol serum for sensitive skin on my neck, i then apply virgin organic coconut oil. I am 64 and my neck is not wrinkly at all. Never to late to start.
Ive built up tolerance to where now I use the Ordinary's 1% retinol on my neck 6 days a week. I also use cera vie moisturizer followed by Revlon night recovery cream and then an ultra light coat of vaseline. In the morning I use same vit c etc.. on my neck as I do on face.
When i first started using tret, i took it down onto my neck area because that's just what I'd been doing with all my facial skincare. I learnt that lesson the hard way. 😅
Thanks shereene ! 💛💛 using PTD products right now and they feel amazing. I have sensitive skin and the flash mask doesn’t even irritate me like I was worried it would 💛
I never thought about my neck that much but im using all my products like serums and retinol and of course sun screen on my neck and I’m currently using a 1% retinol in my face and neck and it works fine 🤭 So I’m just gonna continue, right? PS: j’adore tes vidéos! ❤️❤️❤️
This is the video that made me add the Necessaire neck serum to my cart and wait for a sale. Bring on black Friday for example :). Thanks for breaking down why this is a great serum, super helpful and informative.
I am one of those that have completely skipped my neck! I'm 57 with a red 70 year old neck sagging turkey neck. It's like overnight I became a turkey! I'm looking for a neck lift it's that bad!! Thanks for the info, I've got lots of products to try!
¿What about Bakuchiol for the neck, since neck skin can be so sensitive to retinols/vitamin A derivatives, and Bakuchiol has been shown in some clinical studies to give similar results as retinol with less irritation?
When I was a kid, my mom had melanoma so my parents forced me to wear the highest SPF no matter what. In my teens, my derm prescribed retin A for my horrible acne. Have used it since (for 30+ years). I have used 1% strength forever even around my face, body, around eyes, neck, hands etc. So glad this odd chain of life events lead me here.
Would you suggest retinol and peptides together? Which would you apply first? And is that neck peptide cream good for the face too? It sounds like a good one.
Salam Doctor, I've started accutane about a week ago and reading through the possible side effects now I feel extremely anxious. I don't think I've ever seen a video from you covering that topic in depth, and I would love to hear your input. Merci d'avance!
Dear shirin can you please make a video about which foods delay or protect us from aging? Do you any secret tips for us? ❤️😍😘 I'm 38 and very curious to know
Hi Dr. Idriss, I have learned a lot from your channel and appreciate the updated information your provide. I have vertical and horizontal neck lines and never thought about botox but I did wonder if filler could be used in the horizontal lines. I use tretinoin on my neck to reduce the "chicken skin" from poikiloderma and with time it has helped but the melasma and some redness remain.
Thank you for this video! I'd LOVE to know what to do for my CHEST - I know the skin there is thicker (than the neck). Do the same products, strengths, and procedures apply? Thank you! You are wonderful! ❤
Good morning. Have you ever used homes devices with ultrasound, led, rf, and heat? My dermatologist said the marks on my cheeks are most likely from these devices that I introduced recently and repeatedly used over a matter of only 2 months - of course no more than 2x a week, as instructed - with a high quality conductive gel. I used also a microcurrent device with heat around my mouth too. When holding corners of mouth up with it brought about a pale brown patch on bottom of cheek, so that must have been the heat. And I see streaking patches that correspond with moving of the device with th he other features combined. these are high end German-made devices. I've never had melasma or even acne before and I'm already in my 50s. Here I thought it was a great time to start taking care of my skin. This is so new to me. The dermatologist did encourage me to continue but what modality should I skip? Should I only be using the ultrasound? Should it be shorter time? I've seen other youtubers say they don't dare use the red light therapy because it triggers their melasma. Would so much love to know what you would do.
Great content and tips Dr. Shereene. Please do make more videos that address neck hyperpigmentation. I tried applying retinol but my neck tolerated it poorly, which left some irritation and scarring and dark spots. Please help!! :(
Yehee! I am happy again just woke to go to work as a nurse yes! I really love and enjoying the topic. Dr. Shereene as a nurse I am deprived of sleep. Can you recommend ay products/ideas to reduce for eye bags? Thank you
What about having Hashimoto's and using retinol? Also, is there a specific way to apply retinol on the neck or avoid an area if you have thyroid issues?
Dr. Idriss- I found your channel in 2021 and I have been LOVING your content, your education, and your no-nonsense approach! Thank you for taking the time and effort to educate us! I do have a question about enzyme exfoliants/peels. I have 3 that I use in rotation, but I am curious about whether they are decent products? - TheraDerm NuPeel Natural Enzyme Peel - Platinum Skin Care Antioxidant Enzyme Mask - AmorePacific Treatment Enzyme Peel Cleansing Powder I’d love if you were ever able to talk about enzyme peels! ❤
AWESOME VIDEO, Dr. Shereene ! I am a new subscriber and I am learning sooooooo much valuable information. I love you personality -- you are really funny and entertaining !!!!! Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge !!!!!!! 👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑
I have to be so careful with my neck and retinol. I use the Beauty of Joseon eye cream on my chest and sometimes on my neck but it does get irritated easily. I do love the Necessaire's neck cream for my face and neck. I love this stuff so much I will undoubtedly keep purchasing it regularly. I also love their retinol body cream. I am falling in love with all their products honestly. For reference I'm 69 yrs old.
Perfect timing. This was a conversation this week that I was wanting to do some deep dive research on. Thanks for kicking that off and making it easier.
Thank you for the videoa could you please make a video to explain in depth abouth growth factors? And also marine or other proven helpful extracts that are worth adding to our routine?
I can tolerate retinaldehyde and encapsulated retinol on my neck. I also use a mild exfoliator a couple times a week- mandelic acid. I love peptides and use them as well. Growth factors my Derm has told me to be cautious with, as I have melanoma in my family. Seems there isn’t enough data to rule out bad cell growth yet.
I use Adapalene Gel on my face and Beauty of Joseon Ginseng and Retinal Eye Serum on my eye area and neck , it's 30ml for £9 so really affordable too ! 😊♥️👏🇬🇧🌈
Hi Dr. Idriss! Thanks for taking the time to address the neck. I understood the different over the counter products to use for "crepey neck" is there any in office procedures for crepey neck you would recommend. I may have missed it on the second part of the video. Thanks again!
Idk if I'm just really tolerant but I can use Adapalene 0.1% on my neck. Just started for a month now. After a few days it gets a little itchy but no redness. Sometimes I take a break or do the moisturizer sandwich. I also never found The Ordinary 1% Retinol to have any irritating effects on my skin either even when I first tried it.
I started my retinoids journey with tretinoin 0.025% my derma prescribed me when I asked her what I could add to upgrade my 3 basics routine. Yeah. I shed like a snake the first 3 weeks but probably the choice of product was good cause now I don't even shed under my mouth. However I never had any problems with my neck, I just assumed it was less sensitive
Thanks for the wonderful advice as always Dr Idris! Would you mind sharing your camera / filming set up and any lights you use? Your video format looks so natural and well lit, I’d love to replicate this for meetings
Thanks for your video, Dr. Idris! It would be extremely helpful if you can leave exact names and links to the products discussed in your video below. Thanks again!
Would you be able to talk about nutrition and diet's role in skincare please? I love your videos and always looking forward to new ones. Ps: t'es si jolie
Hello, I just watched a short video on a “hack” to help vitamin c be more effective and wanted to know your opinion. The short video stated to use a centella asiatica serum with your L-ascorbic serum. This would “quadruple “ the efficacy of the vitamin c serum.
I am 63, I use a moisturizer with SPF in the AM, and a moisturizer without in the PM. I have no wrinkles or sun damage on my neck. Nothing special is needed.
Thanks for this, I was thinking about trying the Necessaire. So I'm glad to see it is a good product. Retinol does not play nice with my neck! Question, can I use copper peptides with your products? Loving them!
Thankyou for this video , I remember in a brief prior video you did on the neck you mentioned to be careful with the thyroid area when using therapy treatment, would that also apply with Botox? as I have Hashimito and would like to know before I proceed , thanks again for covering this area 🙏
Hi, Dr. Shereene, love your videos. How do you feel about putting growth factors first then a retinol or tretinoin on your neck or face? Is it too much at the same time? I heard the GF buffers the retinol or tret, is that true? Please do an updated video on your morning routine! Thank you.
This is a very interesting and useful video. Thank you! 😊 I have an important question though, could any of the mentioned products and procedure affect the thyroid (especially if someone already has a thyroid disease)? Thank you.
Thanks for yet another informative video 😊 however I have to say that I think those vertical bands down the neck are quite beautiful, very ballerina like 😍
I use Cosrx 0.1% retinol for my face and neck, should I switch my face to 0.5% retinol and neck 0.1% retinol? I use retinol for 2 weeks right now. I am a starter that's why I bought the lowest %. I am in my late 20s. Thank you for the great content ❤️
Thank you so much for the awesome videos:) the skin is so fascinating! Do you have any advice for Lupus patients (aside from constant sun protection)? I'm in my late 20s (Ive had lupus SLE for about 7 years) and want to help my skin stay healthy but Ive always had very sensitive facial skin that tends towards irritation and itchiness. I plan on trying la Roche Posay's Cicaplast from the sensitive skin video. My skin symptoms are generally well controlled but I am wondering if there's anything else I can do to reduce and prevent inflammation and damage.
I'm able to use tret 0.05% on my neck regularly after years of building up to it. When I tried to move to 1% my neck did not like it lol. Hopefully it will pay off and I'll have the smoothest neck in the elderly assisted living facility. 🤣
Thanks for another wonderful video. ❤️
🤣😂😅
That's awesome! I've been using my 0.025% tret on my neck every night for at least six months after building up tolerance, like you. My neck loves it! I typically get acne there, so that's why I use it, but if it stimulates collagen then that's a bonus!
I can use Tretinoin 0.05 on my neck and chest no problem. I haven’t tried a stronger percentage. Funny but my neck and chest won’t tolerate Vit C. Ok by me, Tretinoin is better.
you will have the smoothest neck!
I love you take serious care of your skin but still retain a silly humour 😂 here’s to smoothest neck lol
Hi! I've been using retinol for over 5 years. And have been mixing retinol with my moisturizer for my neck and it has worked beautifully😍
Hi, which Retinol are you using. Name please.and how often.?
Does the doctor even read these?
Me too! I never even thought about it. I use Retin A and never had a problem. My dermatologist just said to use it on my face, neck and under eyes, wait a few minutes and then use moisturizer.
I usually pull my skincare down my neck, especially sunscreen and peptides.

Gold Bond makes a Retinol Cream that may be great for this. I’ll have to try that, as I’m 60 & my neck still looks pretty decent.
I love that stuff for body but I haven't tried it on my neck (yet).
I do bring my products down my neck and chest but also if there is a tiny touch extra, I rub it on the back of my hands. I want to try both products but SkinMedica will have to wait.

I'm a witch! and before this video arrived and at three weeks of my 70s, I started treating my neck with retinol again! I did it years ago with tretinoin, but it was too irritating! Thanks Doc!😊

Good morning ☀️
Thank you. I asked you recently for a review amd then thought to search your channel. Here it is. Been using the L’ Oreal retinol for a couple weeks.

Will use for my neck too.
Please explain growth factors
Retinaldehyde combined with bioderma atoderm works great on my neck. alternately i use urea 10% lotion.
Thank you Shereene for addressing the neck 🎉 Just placed an order for the neck serum. Made the mistake of taking my 1% tretinoin down to my neck 🔥
Very interesting video. What about wrinkled chest from sleeping on the side? The lines get deeper and are also visible, before only in the morning 😟
Thank you for this video! I'd LOVE to know what to do for my CHEST - I know the skin there is thicker (than the neck). Do the same products, strengths, and procedures apply? Thank you! You are wonderful! ❤
Jord@; Samuels retinol is very gentle and I use it on my neck nightly. No irritation

Thank you
Thank you for these recommendations!
Can you do a video on products and procedures for skin damage on the body? Thank you! Love your channel.
Greetings dear Dr. Shereen. What is your opinion on Bakuchiol? Thanks for your channel and everything you share with us nerds💖
What about having Hashimoto's and using retinol? Also, is there a specific way to apply retinol on the neck or avoid an area if you have thyroid issues?
Hi! Have been waiting for this video, thank you for covering the topic! Also interested to know about skin tags, could you talk about that please? 💐❤️
Try researching things From the diet point of view: if you reduce your carbohydrates they will likely fall off on their own.
- TheraDerm NuPeel Natural Enzyme Peel
- Platinum Skin Care Antioxidant Enzyme Mask
- AmorePacific Treatment Enzyme Peel Cleansing Powder
I’d love if you were ever able to talk about enzyme peels!
For reference I'm 69 yrs old.
what results have u seen with their body retinol...I just got it.
@@TheLibby51 I use that cream mostly for my hands.
we need your products back in stock
Perfect timing. This was a conversation this week that I was wanting to do some deep dive research on. Thanks for kicking that off and making it easier.
Thank you for the videoa could you please make a video to explain in depth abouth growth factors? And also marine or other proven helpful extracts that are worth adding to our routine?
I love your videos and all the information but please try suggesting products which are globally available..it will be more helpful...love from India
I bought the Necessaire neck serum! Fingers crossed!!
Any update?
I use Adapalene Gel on my face and Beauty of Joseon Ginseng and Retinal Eye Serum on my eye area and neck , it's 30ml for £9 so really affordable too ! 😊♥️👏🇬🇧🌈
Interesting! I need to look into this!
Hi Dr.
Thank you. Excellent video. Got two of the products and can’t wait!
They are, in the description box.
So so helpful. Exactly what I needed to know. Thank you so much
Thankyou for this video , I remember in a brief prior video you did on the neck you mentioned to be careful with the thyroid area when using therapy treatment, would that also apply with Botox? as I have Hashimito and would like to know before I proceed , thanks again for covering this area 🙏
Thank so much for the neck skin care recommendations 💜👏🏼
Thank you.
How is it that you look younger every year?! You are glowing.
What do you think about plexr?
I’m thinking of getting it for my pot marks on my cheeks.
Beautiful beautiful skin!
Your skin is glowing. When I was about 12 I tried to scrub my freckles off with Ajax. My poor mom.
I can use retinaldehyde on my neck. I can use tretinoin on the decollete.
