    I bought a T1000.1bdcp amp to replace my Audio Control LC1.800. The Fosgate really makes my Image Dynamics subs come to life. Much more output through constant controlled power. Easily my favorite amp. Clean and stupid powerful.

Does one put out more power than the other or do they both put out the same amount of power??? Thank You!!!

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  2 роки тому +2

      Great Question Jose,
      The CP version incorporates our Patented Constant Power technology. It helps the amplifier sustain power during varying impedance fluctuations cased by the speaker/subwoofer for more consistent delivery of power output. If comparing both amplifiers for a certain amount of time (Say a music track if 1:40 mins) the CP version will produce more energy, consistently over the entire duration of the 1:40 music track. One thing to note is we don’t recommend using the bdSync cable to bridge these 2 different amplifiers together.

    • @josea.garcia3994
      @josea.garcia3994 2 роки тому

      @@rockfordfosgate So that means if you want to use the bdsync cable to strap two of them together they have to be two bdcp amps or two bd amps of the same kind is that correct for it to work??? If that's the case then thank you for that piece of information!!! My question is why can't they be two different kinds???

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  2 роки тому +1

      @@josea.garcia3994 That is correct, for optimum performance, they should both be “bd” or both “bdCP”. We recommend they be the same because otherwise it would be like strapping 2 cars together, one uses the accelerator and the other uses cruise control. For flat straight-a-ways, it will work fine, but for off-road use (similar to a speaker’s complex impedance curve) one car will fluctuate the throttle to maintain constant control, while the other is being manually manipulated, so both engines will not be in “sync” with each other.

      @josea.garcia3994 2 роки тому

      @@rockfordfosgate Great that's good to know!!! So strapping two of the same weather it be two bd amps or two bdcp's would they both come out to being 6000watts strapped together or can the final wattage very in every different sound system set-up???

    On the T600-4 amp, using the the Punch EQ, if you have the front channel set to High-Pass and rear channel to Low-Pass will both channel pairs raise at the same rate in their respective frequencies as described with just setting it to the the same cross-over across the board? ... I have had this amp since 2008 and has outlasted all of my cars to this date never installed a punch knob on it. I love my Power Series Amplifiers. (T600-4, T2500-1bdcp, T500X1PBR) ... That does not take away from my Prime and Punch Amps ... Power Series just hits a little different. 💪🏾

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Juan, great question on a great amplifier! When using the Punch EQ, it can add up to +12dB @ 12kHz (Treble) and up to +18dB @ 45Hz (Bass) depending on where the adjustment is set. When the crossover is set to LP (low-pass) the EQ boosts BASS response. When the crossover is set to HP (high-pass) the EQ boosts TREBLE response. We have a diagram on how it works here: rftech.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/918/

    • @PhiMobileSounds
      @PhiMobileSounds 4 роки тому

      Rockford Fosgate I am familiar with the Bi-Amp advisory. However, the referenced diagram does not address the 4 channel amplifiers with a single PEQ knob. Does it imply that both crossovers in the 4 channel amp will simultaneously respond? My guess is that it does ... I’m guessing that the downside of using a 4-channel with a single PEQ know, each channel will respond to the knob’s setting and their is no way to isolate the two unless you get two separate amplifiers. ... I am using the front channels for tweeters (High-Pass) and the rear channel for my mids (All Pass) on my front stage set-up (full active w/ 3Sixty.3 DSP). I’ll test it out in the lab and see when I get time. Thanks for the feedback!

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  4 роки тому +2

      @@PhiMobileSounds Thank you for the clarification. The T600-4 amplifier does feature 2 Punch EQ settings that allow the front & rear settings to be adjusted independently. However, when plugging in the Remote Controlled Punch EQ knob, this overrides REAR channel's built-in Punch EQ setting, because the rear channels are typically bridged for subwoofers and the front channels typically run mids/tweets.

      @rockfordfosgate  Рік тому +1

      No, the dots are there just for reference, not where you should be setting them. If I buy 13” T2 subwoofer rated at 2000 rms. Should I buy the Rockford power T1000-1bdCP or the T1500-1bdCP amp?

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  3 роки тому

      Great question Jameson! How many subwoofers are you planning to use? If just one, then use the T2S1-13 model since it would be a 1-ohm load and perfectly matched for the Power Series mono amplifiers. Since the power handling is rated at 2,000 Watts RMS, we would suggest the T1500-1bdCP. Although it's rated to produce 1,500 Watts x 1 @ 1-Ohm, its dynamic power is actually 1,715 Watts x 1. This is under the rated power handling of the subwoofer and a perfect match!

      @rockfordfosgate  2 роки тому

      Hi Eloscar 57, Thanks for using Rockford Fosgate for your ride! Both those are amazing SQ speakers. Right off the top, these look like an awesome match! So, let's breakdown what you have:
      • The T2652-S are rated to handle 100 Watts RMS
      • The T1650 is rated to handle 75 Watts RMS
      • The Punch P400X4 Continuous Power is 50 Watts x 4 @ 4-Ohm and Dynamic Power is 82 Watts x 4 @ 4-Ohm
      The Punch P400X4 is a great Class-A/B amplifier designed for SQ and exactly what you want to match with your SQ speakers. The power output matchup between the amplifier and speakers couldn't get any better. As you know, Rockford Fosgate amplifier are typically considered "under-rated", so you can easily expect the Dynamic Power output from the amp. If it's not loud enough, you may need to start looking at adding multiple drivers to increase your SPL output. Otherwise, this must sound amazing.

    • @rockfordfosgate

      Hi Francisco, the main difference between the Punch and Power in this regard is the slight power differences and the circuit topology. The Punch model use Class-AB (sound quality) and the Power uses Class-AD (class-d). You'll have better sound quality with the Punch model, but the Power amp provides similar power in a compact package. If you have the room, use the Punch model. If you're tight on space, use the Power model. Here's a quick overview of the specs:
      • P600X4 ($399.99): 75 Watts x 4 @ 4-Ohm / 150 Watts x 4 @ 2-Ohm / 300 Watts x 2 @ 4-Ohm Bridged
      • T400X4ad ($439.99): 100 Watts x 4 @ 4-Ohm / 100 Watts x 4 @ 2-Ohm / 200 Watts x 2 @ 4-Ohm Bridged

This is a Sound Quality amplifier so the bass will be accurately reproduced assuming the correct enclosure is designed for the subwoofers. However, if you are looking for MONSTER bass (like you only listen with the volume at 11 out of 10), you may want to step up to a dedicated mono amplifier. The T500-1bdCP is a good starting point.

      Yes, the T1000-1bd and T1000-1bdCP are stable down to 1-ohm, so although it will have reduced output, it will work fine at 2.67 ohms.

      Hi Gz, the Power T600-2 amplifier gains should be set to match the source unit. We have an article on setting gains here: "How to Properly Set Your Gains" rftech.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/46 . For the crossover, I would personally set it to 80Hz since a lot of bass comes from the 50-60Hz region (the current crossover setting is set to -24dB at 60Hz so you're losing lots of bass).

    • @gz8448
      @gz8448 7 років тому

      so why 80 Hertz? and my eq is set to 124 on the amp and my gain at 5 . what do I set the eq on the amp? and why 80 Hertz if I'm losing alot of bass. my unit is is set at zero and natural sound I got bass blockers on my highs it's a pioneer head unit.

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  7 років тому

      Did you have time to review the tutorial on Setting Gains? It explains how to adjust your gains with and without an equalizer, regardless of the source unit being used. The crossover frequency is just a recommendation, but as mentioned earlier, the current crossover setting is set to -24dB at 60Hz (it doesn't "start" at 60Hz) so you're potentially losing a lot of bass if you like the hard-hitting frequencies that typically reside at 50-60Hz. We also have an article on crossovers if you need more information on how they work here: rftech.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/68

      We run true Dynamic Power tests against Rockford Fosgate amplifiers. Assuming you're referring to the Power T2500-1bdCP? It's Dynamic Power numbers can be found under the SPECIFICATIONS tab on our website: www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/t2500-1bdcp/
      T2500-1bdCP Dynamic Power
      1823 Watts x 1 @ 4-Ohm

      2980 Watts x 1 @ 1-Ohm

    • @derekaaustin
      @derekaaustin 6 років тому

      I was talking about clamping in a car. The way you have the sub in a car will change the ohm level. If I use this T2500, it should clamp 2940 watts in the car cause my ohm level moved up to 2 ohms from 1 ohm. and 2 ohms is about the same as 1 ohm on this T2500. If this will happen, this is the best amp technology out there. And i am a believer. And will buy this amp. I would love to see real wattage in the car.

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  6 років тому

      The Constant Power technology inside the T2500-1bdCP is pretty amazing! You can learn more about CP and how it works here: ua-cam.com/video/7EP4-4TMWFw/v-deo.html
      Regarding "clamping" ... not 100% sure what you're referring to because the impedance plot of a subwoofer/enclosure is very complex. In addition, the effect on the amplifier is complex as well (see the Constant Power video above.) It's not a cut and dry 1-ohm/2-ohm equation.
      The Dynamic Power tests we use at Rockford Fosgate are NOT based on simple resistive loads, because loudspeakers (subwoofers) consist of capacitive, inductive, as well as resistive loads. The Dynamic Power data we publish is considered "real world" to what is capable in the vehicle. I wouldn't read too much into forums that weigh heavily on "clamping" and "box rise". There are simple factors like charging system voltage, proper grounding, and current reserve (energy storage capacitors) that have a much larger effect on amplifier power than those factors.

      There's nothing wrong with the amplifier. Our MEHSA technology moves the heat away from the MOSFET more efficiently away to the heatsink like NO OTHER amplifier on the market. The heatsink is doing exactly what it's designed to do, dissipate heat. Look at this video at timecode 01:55 where we describe what MEHSA does for the cooling effect.

      @rockfordfosgate  7 років тому

      Hi Kevin, sounds like you may have the 12W6v3-D4 or the 12W6v2-D4 and they are rated to handle 600 Watts RMS. They don't necessarily "need" 500W, but typically a subwoofer like this works great from 30% RMS up to the RMS power rating (150W - 600W). Since you have 3 of the dual 4-Ohm voice coils, they can be wired to create either a 6-Ohm or 2.67-Ohm load and have a total power handling capacity of 1800 Watts (we'll assume you'll wire them to create a 2.67-Ohm load.)
      A great amplifier is the Power T1500-1bdCP. It's rated to produce 1500 Watts x 1 at both 1-Ohm & 2-Ohm loads due to its "Constant Power" technology. We don't have power ratings at 2.67-Ohms since it's an odd impedance, but under Dynamic Power conditions (real world) it can produce up to 1549 Watts x 1 @ 2-Ohms. This is PERFECT to power these subwoofers without exceeding their power limitations. Here's a handy link to that amplifier:

That is a powerful amplifier and it will most certainly be feeding nearly double the power those 2 subwoofers can handle, especially being "shallow". Good news is ... this future-proofs your setup if you to upgrade to the Power T1 slim subwoofers as they respond more like a traditional subwoofer and have higher power handling capacity.

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  6 років тому

      Hi Juan, the JBL CX Series 12" are rated to handle up to 250 Watts RMS each, so two subwoofers would give you 500W Power Handling and can be wired in parallel to create a 2-ohm load. If you're looking for just a mono subwoofer amplifier, you could use the Prime R500X1D since it's rated to produce 500 Watts x 1 @ 2-Ohms. However, I caution you if you love to hammer your system... that amplifier can produce up to 647 Watts which would over power your system.
      If you're looking for a multi-channel amplifier to also run the mids & highs, we'll need to see what the RMS power handling is on the speakers, so without knowing, you could use either the Power T1000-4ad (250W x 2 @ 4-Ohm for the stereo channels and 500W @ 2-Ohm Bridged for the sub) or the T600-4 (100W x 2 @ 4-Ohm for the stereo channels and 300W @ 4-Ohm Bridged for the sub.)

    • @rockfordfosgate

      That's a great amplifier! Be careful when setting up the gains for your tweeters and midrange because it's one mighty powerful amplifier. Just want to make sure your system lasts for a very long time. You may want to setup the Gain Overlap at 0dB for those speakers.

    • @johnnycash2860
      @johnnycash2860 6 років тому

      I'm kind of confused because you first mentioned the JBL CX1200 12" woofers I'm trying to get handle up to 250 watts RMS each but on the description it says 1,000 peak power each, or am I being understood between RMS and peak power?

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  6 років тому +1

      I agree it's confusing. If you can't find the certified power ratings (CEA-2016 for amps and CES-2031 for speakers) then always use the RMS Power Ratings. "Peak Power" or "Max Power" ratings are usually just double or quadruple the RMS ratings to represent "this product can handle this power for a few milliseconds".
      As mentioned earlier, the Power T1000-4ad will be great using the rear bridged channels for the subs and will generate 500W for both subwoofers (250+250=500). I'm just suggesting to use caution on the front channels because you'll be delivering 100W to the left and right sides, so check the power rating of your tweeters & midrange. To be safe, set the gains on the front channels to 0dB Gain Overlap so you don't over drive them.

      No Rockford Fosgate amplifier - old or new - is recommended to run below the recommended impedance as stated in the owner's manual. 0.5 Ohm daily is not recommended. This is because "Box Rise" is not a constant, and therefore can cause dangerous low impedance conditions for the amplifier, running it harder and shorten the life expectancy of the electronics.

Rockford recommendation is 300 ampere external fuse for t2500bdcp and when I played 33 hertz tune and the box rise was 1.1 ohm my external fuse is blown. Rockford says that on 1 ohm load this amp will give me the same power that on 2 ohms, but if i wire my sub to 1ohm load there is always will be more than 1 ohm because of box rise
