I agree, I have the RF P1000X1BD. 1383 RMS @1 ohm. Had it for 3-4 years never a problem and it has the C.L.E.A.N system. It's not just the wattage you also gotta look at the THD and such. They always under rate they're amps.
This a old video of yours I ran across MB, I can admit I always rocked Fosgate amps since I was younger in my 20's. My older cousin put me onto RF amps and he was killing people with his system. He had the terminator POWER MOSFET 1000, and his still works. Im in my 40's now and I still have my punch 800A2. Had this amp since 2002. Bought it used in good condition at that time and it hits hard. U right about the 1 gauge power wire too. Amp never cut off and I lived in the south at that time. Hot. New RF amps IDK. He is telling the truth I used to run punch 45 75 and 150 back in the 90s the ones with the wires that came out of them they had miniature fuses that would blow when they got hot but never fried the amplifiers they cost money but true to the game
So True, my old school 2004 RF Prime runs +500w @ 2ohm sounds much better on my new Type R than my new TXP1.3500D which gets its "claimed" RMS of 700W @ 2ohms and then some, these models just came out back in 2020 or 21 I think. So, the 500W from RF may be underpowering, but the 2ohm control and a RF amp sound so much better and don't seem any quieter with less power. I also have a Planet Audio BBD 1.2500D ( I know planet audio lol mostly junk) which actually gets ~1100W @ 1ohm but that is still far from its "claimed" RMS and not as clean as the RF Prime or Soundstream. I only have it because it was free and I swapped a couple bad mosfets and it was good, so why not have an extra 1k amp sitting around just in case the full bridge decides to tank. Anyways love the vids and the knowledge you share!
Got 2 Type R 12' and a bd1001 best joint ever. In the cool weather no problem. Hot summer sometimes it will protect, but ac to the back and comes back in a sec. And it's 13 or so years old. RF!
Im Putting a system together for the first time since 1988 . Back then I had Yamaha ypa 1000 and ypa 700 for a total of 380 watts . Two 15 inch pyle pro subs were 4 ohm . 380 watts was as fu*king loud as I would ever want !!!! I ll never forget those class AB amps ....at least Thats what I think they were . I'm skeptical about this new rockford class D amp prime thats rated for 1200 W into 1 ohm while only being 1/3 the size of those old amps . Damping factor on the old amps were 500 + so I hope these new class D amps will impress .
Brother I love all your videos and I will continue to watch them. Punch 45 and Punch 150 was my first amps. But since I changed to Alpine I don't think I'll use another amp unless it's a linear power
Still beating 2x hx2 12s and 2 200ix dsm and 4080 dsm today. Had them since new. They never fail and can beat the hell out of em. Currently have 14 dsm amps all in pristine condition. Been collecting old dsm amps for over 30 years. Wouldn’t spend my money on any other brand of car audio👍🤘🏻
ya, they get HOT because they work. I've had all kinds of amps, and RF amps, exp. Punch and Power, are excellent amps, sound great, always make more than rated, and the dynamic power and range is better than any other amps I've had. That dynamic power really matters. Many amps don't do well dynamically or against impedance rise.
Good videos. There are basically 2 camps of class D amps these days. Companies like RF, Kicker, JL, Audio Control that are actually designing amps then others that just re-brand old class D Korean circuits. Nothing wrong with that, but very few companies are really doing anything new.
Man you ain't lying.. my little 1200 prime surprise me every time I hook it to something.. it's just an entry level amp.. but it's the biggest prime and contains alot of the big amp tech. big Wizz did a video on it.. 82% efficiency on a cheap amp is crazy

I'd still have my RF (I think 2005ish model) amp 600.1D if someone didn't steal it years ago.. Think I remember seeing it back in like 05 at my local car audio shop for 499$ new, but I knew I couldn't afford it but got lucky bc a good buddy was selling his whole system to pay fines and stuff.. I loved that amp so much outta all the amps I've ever had, I told my self I'd never sell it, period. But someone knew it was worth a couple hundred so they caught me slipping.... Most likely heard my truck bumping and knew it wasn't cheap.. Funny thing about it tho, I still got the bass knob somewhere, I always held on to it..
I have been meaning to try out JL amps but Rockford Fosgate has been too good to me. I'm pushing 40 years old and have only owned two of RF's amps. The first one was 20 years old and sold it to someone that loves vintage amps and the second one is 15 years old and is the amp I currently use. I will probably hand this second one to my son for his own car and see how long it lasts without selling it. They're no joke and don't break even if you mistreat them every once in a while.
I had a Punch 45 on 4 Pioneer IMPP 10s in the 90s.... let's just say everybody in the house knew when I was down the street from the house! 😂😂. Now that I'm older, I'm down to 1 American Bass DX 12 with a Punch 360a. I love the older Punch amps. I'm thinking of trying the new stuff, but I hear people complain about the quality being different from back in the day.

Im good with my old school. RF
I have been building my own car stereos since 94 and own 6 Rockford Fosgate amplifiers. My newest is the same 1200-1D Prime as yours. The rest are Trans Ana ara.. 40i, 200a4, 400a4 and 3002 andf a Punch 301M. Today these are still all used daily. They are in my pickup, my wifes car and 3 of our 4 kids cars. I have been die hard Rockford Fosgate since 94 and there's no way in HELL I would ever go anywhere else!
My dad was into audio (not super big into it, but definitely into it) back in the 70's 80's and 90's and he always went with Rockford if/when he could afford it, he gave me my first truck which I still have to this day and it's had about 4 different Rockford systems in it, getting better and better each time, and now I'm fixing to put the best system in it yet, 4 P3 12's on a T1500-bdcp and Rockford components all the way around...I'm so excited to get it all done and crank it for the first time...Rockford for life!!!
Four words; Rockford Punch 800a2(1999), Three 10” Rockford DVC’s, Sealed Box, Heaven :)
Phoenix Gold was one of the tops also. They are expensive.....back in the day when they was Good.
I have a power bd1001 and a power 550x from about 19 years ago and they both still pound!
Lol you is crazy that’s love big brother thanks for the good information
I'm old school too bruh! My first set up was a Punch 150 on 2 Punch 15's at 2ohms & a Punch 30 on the two Sony 3way 6x9's & two 4" Altecs with a XV1 crossover & two 3" Sony's in the dash running off the Sony radio on a pumped up Alternator with a Interstate truck battery all in a Toyota Tercel 2 door hatchback & that lil muh fuh would mess with your heart beat if you sat in the back! Like you said, Clean watts & the woofers we're in a sealed box that was cut to the size of the whole cargo area. Don't know how but my homeboys guessed the right formula for that box while we were get full off that Old English 800 & them good Boe Weeds🤣🤣🤣 Bump'n👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
I have a Punch 100@2 it's 21yrs old and still plays good. That's quality. When it comes to amplifiers I will only buy fosgate, kicker or Jl period.
Always good content with 100% facts
Yes sir still till this day I have my Punch 40 and Punch 150 and they still play good
Still rocking my JL Audio HD600/4 and HD750/1 that I bought brand new back in 2011. Those two amps have been in 3 cars since then.
I had a Punch 200 on 4) 15 Kickers killing ish!!
@@antoniomccoy9451 Fosgate,Kicker, Alpine, Linear power either one those or nothing. Use to love JBL subs and speakers straight trash 🗑️ now.
I did a 142.0 db on the term lab using a punch 401s on two Memphis PR-15 subs in a sealed box
U just earned a subscriber sir. 💯
I love my rockford fosgate t2000.1bd. But my mtx ta92001 amp is just a beast.
sellin the t20001bd ?
ya, they get HOT because they work. I've had all kinds of amps, and RF amps, exp. Punch and Power, are excellent amps, sound great, always make more than rated, and the dynamic power and range is better than any other amps I've had. That dynamic power really matters. Many amps don't do well dynamically or against impedance rise.
Mine lasted years. When it needed repair, they fix it by replacing the whole board the same day they get it ❤.
I agree rockford been around for a long time. I only buy rockford amps. It takes out the gest work. You get what u pay for.
love mine too brother got 2 t1500 1dbcp🔥🔥🔥🔥
Lol you and them damn 15’s … much love bro .. keep dropping gems 💎
🙌🙌🙌I had a 1997 punch 200.2 amp with 2 kicker competition C12 back in the days 🙌🙌🙌🙌😁😁😁
0:27 When mentioning Arizona back in the 90's, don't forget to mention Phoenix Gold amps as well.
I have always used rockford amps for all my woofers they put the power down and clean... There worth every penny
Good videos. There are basically 2 camps of class D amps these days. Companies like RF, Kicker, JL, Audio Control that are actually designing amps then others that just re-brand old class D Korean circuits. Nothing wrong with that, but very few companies are really doing anything new.
I love my old school mtx amps
Same here. Old school Mtx thunder elite series are still my favorite
Man you ain't lying.. my little 1200 prime surprise me every time I hook it to something.. it's just an entry level amp.. but it's the biggest prime and contains alot of the big amp tech. big Wizz did a video on it.. 82% efficiency on a cheap amp is crazy
I have Fostgate in every car and speakers I love it and will never switch
Jl make some awesome amps lol I had a jl 250 on a old solorbaric 15, thing use to hit a little 😄
My Fosgate 1100@2 amplifier was my last one in 1999 and still have it running every day. In the Desert it will shut down
My son has a praying amp his amp shuts down too in the summer can't hang with the 110° plus bumping all day. Even my friends Orion amps shut down. In Santa Fe when I work there my amplifier don't shut down but in Albuquerque it will ⁉️
That's all I've ever used Fosgate from the 1987 and the punch 200 and punch 60 with punch 40 I still got it will shut down in the summer. Thay do get hot 🔥 and shut down in the desert.
Quality is consistency. 250 prime on 2 12s sealed box 3cubes hit hard as hell. When u right u right.
Running 2 new alpine typex 12s on a brand new RF 2500 bdcp. Like you said $!@# second guessing. Had orion,jl,and the new PG ti 1300.1.... all hi end gear, RF all day long.....thats why I don't need a base knob...... lol
summer of 1994 was my first experience with Fosgates Punch series amps and speakers. i had a 1967 Bug. 4-12s and double stacked 6x9s in the doors. when it came time for my son. he went Fasgate as well. JLA makes a damn good speaker. iv had JLA with a Fosgate amp pushing them. when u put 15+ hard years on a system, i don't care the name, its saying something about that product.
I had the r2 500/4 amp. very musical clean great amp cant say enough
I'm thinking about getting a r 500.4 to match my 500.1
@@elroycooley398 I got one for sale in Charlotte for 200
@@rexnhogz that ain't bad but I stay half way across the country l live in Mississippi. By the way I have a mtx 75.4 it ran good for a few weeks now it's going in and out of protect mode that's way I'm looking for another amp
Could you do a video on efficiency? Boxes, amps, subs?
Audio Control for me. Super clean SQ.
I have two T1000s and they are beasts
I have been meaning to try out JL amps but Rockford Fosgate has been too good to me. I'm pushing 40 years old and have only owned two of RF's amps. The first one was 20 years old and sold it to someone that loves vintage amps and the second one is 15 years old and is the amp I currently use. I will probably hand this second one to my son for his own car and see how long it lasts without selling it.
They're no joke and don't break even if you mistreat them every once in a while.
I knew a guy who ran a 500 watt JL in a Q-Bomb box. He was hitting pretty hard. My ears weren’t very mature at the time.
Been using my Fostgate prime 4 channel for 6 years ! Soon to be replaced by a Crescendo s4
What do you think about MMATS amplifiers?
Very informative video,I’m running JL 300.4 and 1200.1 the pure sexy evil black ones with 2 W7s in fourth order enclosure plexiglass and center port with a mechman 240 under the hood and stinger AGM up front and XS Power AGM in the rear also have a epicenter back there and 5 farad cap does this set up lack anything or need anything?2/0 ofc still learning so asking and checking.Maryland showing ❤️
i agreed with you on JL and Rockford. How do you feel about orion amps?
Audio control is good.
Got the xplod up on the wall.
Had one. it was tough
Nothing better than old school us amps and Xtant amps.
I’ve had my Memphis 16-PRX1000.1 +7years running @1ohm no issues… HIFONICS son of Zeus +18 years, have changed a few melted fuses though.
Granted: RF/JL do sell “cleaner” watts at a premium.
I had a prime 500 and damn that amp is a champ🔊 miss it
I have one for about two weeks and it pushed the hell out of my 12 inch Jensen I don't have the bass boost on and it is not even half way
I have a Rockford 750-1 prime paired to a sundown audio sa8-v3 d4 in a .9 cf ported box sub up port back in my suburban. Way more than enough for my needs plus i still have more than enough room to throw everything in the back.
What are your settings for this amp? I have 2 12" shallow subs by unity in a ported box
@@suaverp2170 everything is about 3/4 to max and my subsonic filter is about 25 hz I do have the bass knob so I can still turn it down when I need to. Setting on my head unit is all bass down.
@@robertgonzales5552 that's very helpful, thanks
@@robertgonzales5552 my bass is set to middle and everything is turned down, but have gain at 5
right a good box will make a huge difference .i got the kicker 300.1 and sounds like 800 watts lol hard hitting bass more then people with 1,000 watt amp thats not hookup right. if amp has 8 gauge power wire input u use a 4 gauge. better to be safe and upgrade to bigger wires wont hurt.
PUNCH 200 IS A BEAST!!
Put tha vaseline down 😂😂😂
I'm running a Rockford Fosgate1500 to one 12inch Massive Audio Hippo 2000rms
BDCP......pure power..1000 bangin......from East to West 7mile....FOSGATE ALL DAY
Love you content I have a 2006CLS 500 need a head 7:58 unit for I have two T2500 fosgates amps but I’m only going to use one need a head unit. If you can that be nice.
Nice that's what I got a 4 channel and a 2 channel
Prime series for the win 👌
Yeah, I have a Prime R2-1200X1 in my 2016 Buick LaCrosse Premium II on 2 12" P3's! Hits harder than Mike Tyson!
Review the T1 or T2 fosgate subs 😎
Rockford Fosgate power all day everyday 👍🏽💪🏽😎
You do alot of Subwoofer Videos and i knopw thats because thats what you usually build for. But you ever think of doing Mids? 6.5's and 6x9s? As a builder also I have suprised customers with the bass they can get from a properly built enclosure with 6x9s in it.
AudioControl amps has cleaner signal to noise ratios and lower total harmonic distortion than every Rockford amp
Is that true, and what about dampening?
Get off the spec sheet and get out in the field. JL Audio makes great stuff but Fosgate is right there if not even better. Fosgate tech knows amps inside and out. I would rate Fosgate 1st in amps and JL Audio 1st in Subs. Put them together and you have a force multiplier!!
@@alanholmes2366 I didn't say anything about JL Audio,... I said Audiocontrol,... also JL amps are much better than Rockfords
@@alanholmes2366 I'm merely talking sound quality,... not power
@@MainsOnPointAerials I'll still take Rovkford over JL Audio for both power and sound quality when it comes to an amp. New JL stuff is made in China and if you compare the power series of Rockford to JL Audio I think the winner for efficient, stable, clean power and sound quality goes to Rockford.
This man speakin the truth. Most of them amps on the market are cookie cutter korean made boards. Fosgate puts the time, money, and engineering into their own boards. I’ve got a Fosgate T1000-1bdcp waiting for my two Image Dynamics IDQ12v4 subs to arrive. Had a baby Prime 500 pushing two JBL subs in an older car. Sounded amazing for the wattage.
What the better choice brotha. Half bridge Korean or full bridge Brazilian? Shopping to get away from smart3
I'm debating on getting a alpine M60 or a fosgate 750.1
How would the 1500.1 deal with heat behind a 2022 Silverado rear seat.
It never cut off and it had clipped indicators for every channel!!
Running Fosgate 800.a4 from late 90s
Yep, I went to the JL Audio seminar run by MARK ELDRIDGE .
I am looking at some of your videos about boxes. I have an serious question. Can you build an box for an under the seat box for rear seat on an 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 with 2 12s. JL Audio W6 on JL Audio 600/1v2
I love it 😂
What would be the best tune settings for my T1500 running 2 12" P3s in the ported pre fab enclosure?
The. Fosgate 500.1 d is 2 best selling amp on amazon just over 100. Bux.
