This show really took their time to make sure they would get the phoenix and dark phoenix saga right. And they absolutely nailed it. No wonder the movies couldn't do the phoenix saga right because they kept rushing it🙄
Agreed my only problem is that Jean felt too depowered in this show kinda like superman in justice league season 1

Shame Dark Phoenix didn't make it to X-Men Evolution. Evolution Jean was a badass adding the Phoenix to her would've been really entertaining
Completely agree. This version of Jean apparently has had a phoenix since birth, like in Wolverine and the X-Men. The chapter in which he loses or controls has a reference to isso and in the battle against Xavier as Cavaleiro do Apocalipse he uses a mental shield that assumes the form of a phoenix.
It would have been more interesting since Xmen Evolution wasn't going to make Phoenix a Cosmic being but instead it would have been Jean's powers losing control and evolving like how it was originally.
The greatest adaption of the Dark Phoenix saga ever, Fox wishes, I really can't wait to see were they since they are continuing it, amazing video as always
In my opinion it’s like this this cartoon wants to be faithful to the mythos and wants to become comic book accurate unlike the movies I’m not even sure why they wanted to do the story especially since they don’t understand the plot and hate their own source material so really from the start it wasn’t worth watching compared to the cartoon basically has people who care

This is actually a FOX Kids show, in fact one of the directors at FOX was the primary one pushing the other execs to get on board with an X-Men TV show. Along with X1-X3 FOX actually made the X-Men even more popular than they already were at the time.
This show was unintentionally hilarious 😆. When Phoenix turned the tree into solid gold and rouge said “what In the world” I screamed. That was my exact reaction. 😂

In fact, in the comic books, Jean was only "Dark Phoenix" for around 6 issues. Initially, she simply had enormous power after returning from a space mission, but she never (consciously) knew where it came from. The other X-Men were mystified as well when she suddenly demonstrated mind-boggling abilities far beyond what she'd been able to do before that space mission. In act, only Xavier had the telepathic abilities to see that she was turning dark, and even he didn't sense it for a while. The movie ("X-Men: The Last Stand") got it ALL wrong, as they never ascribed the power to a Cosmic Entity that had taken over Jean Grey's body when the spaceship they were in was returning to Earth and they hit a radiation storm and she was the only one who could operate all the controls and put up a telekinetic shield (which still wasn't strong enough to block out all the radiation). They invented an completely different history: that Jean had had these powers even when she was a young girl and that Xavier discovered her (and those powers) and suppressed them with psychic "blockers."
In the comic books, it was only YEARS after she died - when the Fantastic Four found a cocoon in the ocean and brought it back with them, that the real Jean awakened - and she told the FF of an Entity approaching her and offering her life if she would let it live in her, and even then, she was made unaware (presumably by the Phoenix itself) that she'd made a deal with a Cosmic Entity so she could live. Kind of strange, because she actually died on the Moon in a battle with an alien super-hero group, but apparently, the cocoon (and the "real" body of Jean) had been left in the ocean many years later, so the being who emerged was never truly Jean, but the doppelganger - The Phoenix Entity. And even then, it was never made clear if the doppelganger actually knew it wasn't the real Jean. But that's how comic book are so magical: they can create alternate storylines 10 years later and you find out that Scott had a brother (never came up in the early years of the X-Men), or Storm had a family. They don't call it sci-fi/fantasy for nothing!

Am I the only who hates how Comic writers are inconsistent with the Phoenix force? It like they kept using the same plot whenever the Phoenix returns for Jean and acts like she can't control the Phoenix. When she can and possessed the full power of the Phoenix. It sucks we've never seen Jean full power as White crown of the Phoenix in battle with anyone. We always see green phoenix or dark phoenix. These days the Phoenix has been retconn to nothing compared to her original purpose and power.

Omg I was in my teens when I first saw this cartoon on bbc1 and fell in love with it and the xmen were introduced into my life obsessively as a teen. Shame many of the marvel/xmen movies didn't do any justice to the xmen and Jean grey/pheonix, mind you days of the future past, xmen 2, and logan I did liked.
If only they can get this right in the movies this will be a blockbuster classic.

The problem with the Phoenix force is that it can never exist with jean in movies. Someone with the ability to manipulate reality on a universal/multiversal scale, and many other abilities would basically NEGATE the plot of any film since she could just imagine what she wants to happen, and it would happen. It’s way too op, and the writers will never get her right because they’ll have to actually use their brain instead of shitting out some mediocre plot. I mean look what they did to Wanda… she’s the goddes of chaos in the comics and they turned her into some murderer joke who can’t even travel the multiverse ??? Like bruh what the fuck.. if marvel ever touches the Phoenix again I hope it’s a NEWER band of writers that actually are creatives, and good storytellers. Also they need to STOP with the whole I’m so fragile and a damsel in distress storyline. Jean should have a nurturing, kind, maternal, and mature vibe. Make her actually useful to the team instead of the person who just pushes Charles’ wheelchair around until she becomes a problem… Her Phoenix storyline needs to be built up through like several movies.

You can say something to anyone like Jean and Scarlet. The main problem with the phoenix is the inconsistent writing from writers today. I always hated how they treat Jean as if she can't control the Phoenix after her unfinished story as White Crown of the Phoenix. The writers always goes back to the same plot with Jean cannot control the Phoenix and she must be killed. When we could of seen Jean develop to her true power as the Phoenix with complete control, furthering developing her character and powers. Currently the Phoenix purpose has been retcon and basically nothing like her original character and purpose.
I still recall the scene where she just plunges into the sun to feed.

It did work in the comics though. Scarlet Witch and Hope Summers used that spell to restore mutantkind while erasing the Phoenix Force.
May I say, that this is the best adaptation so far of the Phoenix Saga. The films had two tries at this and couldn’t get it even close.
