Rogue told Storm to lighten up on the speeches in the 1st episode of the series & Storm was like "Nah I'm good, fam". Say what you want about her speeches, Storm got shit done.
Fun Fact: The reason Storm speaks while using her powers is because of her ancestry. Storm is descended from a long line of powerful African witches with white hair and blue eyes. Because she was born a mutant her X gene greatly evolved her already innate mystical power thus producing the Omega level weather witch. As an homage to that the shows creators made her use regal speech as a form of spell casting to direct the energy of her powers. Storm is life.
My take on it is that she needs to be literal in order to stay in control. If she had used her power without the "speeches", then with every fleeting thought she can wreck havoc. Watch "The Savage Land", Storm talks about how she needs to be in control of her powers all the time.
saar144 I see what you're saying, she does need to be in control of her emotions at all times unless her powers rage out of control. That's why storm does a lot of meditative exercises, gardening and nature communing. She doesn't need to do the speeches tho to stay in control as she has used her powers plenty of times on the show without speaking. Since her power is omega level, It's when she summons her strongest weather phenomena that she needs to speak in order to direct her energy/spell-casting to better control/focus her attacks.
This is by far the best adaptation of Storm. Loyal, graceful, regal, supremely powerful. In pretty much all of these clips, Storm was saving the X-men's asses, putting up numbers. People who don't read the comics don't realize that Storm is one of the most relied upon members for power, morality and leadership and she is arguably the most consistent in terms of writing.
She came out better in Apocalypse than she has in any other movie, though. Not quite to the level of awesome we see here (such hamtastic glory is, sadly, long past us as the writers have started taking their franchises too seriously) or in the comics, but there's still another one on the way.
I like Wolverine for reasons that have nothing to do with how powerful he is -- in fact, him being too powerful is part of what's turned me off the character lately -- but Storm is the more interesting character to me. There was a period in the 80s where she lost her powers, but still led the X-Men, and she was STILL so much cooler than Logan it was unreal.
I loved storm in this series she was so epic - her speeches were killer, everytime she unleashed her wrath of the storm she couldn't resist adding a mini speech. " by the power of the storm , unleash rain to quench them of their thirst for violence!" - usually something like that. love her!
She was the first fictional character that made me wonder what it would be like to fly. She made me believe that she not only had strong powers, but she RELISHED in them. As a Storm fan for over 30 years I have been waiting for this Storm to show up in the movies. I think I can speak for almost all Storm fans that most of you feel the same way. It would have been awesome to get a Storm like at 4:15. I'm waiting to see the full power of Storm unleashed. But as long as Fox own the rights to the Xmen series and Marvel can't touch their own creating we are stuck with the wackness of the Xmen series.
so true, storm in x men movies is so limited even wolverine is stronger than her which is totally b.s. they need to make a movie abt her only. i think she the strongest mutants there is on X-Men series.
She has to be my favorite Xmen. A time when strong female leads were written well. So powerful but yet so vulnerable. She felt as real as any person I know. Being over-dramatic only adds to her personality. It reminds you of a rose. They are soft, delicate, and beautiful. They also have thorns that hurt if you get pushed into them. The most iconic storm we ever had.
Iona Morris is absolutely the most iconic and greatest voice of Storm of all time. Unfortunately I met her at a Wondercon convention in the 90’s during the peek of the show’s success and she turned out to be quite disappointing. I was 12 years old. I walked up to her and told her how much I loved what she brought to my favorite character. She thanked me. I then asked her if she would be willing to do my pager voicemail greeting. It would be my dream come true. She said that she would be “delighted “ to. She consented “yes”, that she would, but that I had to come back after lunch because she was about to go out to grab something to eat. She asked me to write down exactly what she wanted me to say and that she would say it. I was so excited, my heart almost jumped out of my chest and the lump in my throat never went down. I just stared at the french fries my dad put in front of me soon after. I was too nervous to eat. When she came back an hour and a half later, I ran to her table. She said that unfortunately she changed her mind during lunch and that she would have to end up charging me for doing my voicemail greeting. I told her I understood, and that I would gladly give her all of the money that I had, to which she replied “oh honey… You simply can not afford me.” I was devastated. She offered to read out loud what I had written for her to say during the lunch, (without it being recorded). She grabbed my paper and began in the iconic Storm voice, but I barely remember it because i was so gutted and I honestly just focused on trying not to cry in front of her. She broke her word to a little boy. She broke my heart. She was my idol and my favorite thing about the show. To this day, X-Men, the animated series is still one of my top 2 favorite shows of all time. (Sailor Moon being the other one.) They say you should never meet your idols, because they are human and will always let you down. In this case, I totally know what they were talking about.
I honestly think Alison Sealy Smith's lines are more iconic. I know I'm in the minority. But majority of what you hear in this video is her and not Iona.
The reason that Storm has these dramatic soliloquies is because she was worshiped as a Goddess. I love it, shame we'll never see it up on the big screen.
Yeah, so disappointed in the Apocalypse movie. If they had Storm talk like this and had one more Quicksilver scene, I at least would have enjoyed the movie.
When Cyclops finished with his speech for Jean storm wasted no time in calling up a category 5 hurricane. Gotta live this woman and her kick ass no matter attitude.
Halle Barry might have sucked as Storm, but it's not just her fault, it's the way the character was written. There are definitely more fitting actresses, but just swapping the actress wouldn't improve the script or the direction. To have the Storm we see here would require the director to actually care about doing the character properly.
Very true and I don't think halle was too bad.. could have been a better cast, but the fight scenes with her were awful. The only decent one was where she summoned hurricanes in the air, other then that they made her look so weak!
Storm tells you exactly what shes about to do to you before she does it, does it, and makes it clear that theres not a damn thing you can do about it. Storm is the shit.
I remember immitating storm when I was a kid. I was putting my towel just like her cape then ran outside spilling few of her speeches, "I summon the coldness of the arctic wind" and paused for a moment as my playmate was selling the acting of being overwhelmed.😂
i love when she talks and say I summon the........ I read that she saying that because these are like her spells to control it or something that's why she is called the weather witch and I wish she do this in the movies they movies make her seem so weak when really she is so strong
Loved, loved, loved this version of the Lady Storm!! Like Rogue, the X-Men 'toon really brought her to life and gave her a voice outside of the comics!!
Storm has always been my favorite character. And for the people saying her speeches are too lengthy, she commands every meteorological element in nature, One would assume she has to be pretty specific. They could make her use her powers without speaking, but that would detract from a reagelness. After all, she was worshiped as a goddess
Yeah, at first I was like, "A bit much but my dear, but after the first minute, i was like, "No, you screamed them Storms and Elements into Order like the Goddess you are. Yea-yah!"
I can see Storm and Merlin from Disney's The Sword in the Stone having a war of words, using their commanding voices to exact damage on each other! Merlin: HIGGITUS FIGGITUS NO! WIND AND SNOW, SNOW AND BLOOOOOW!!! Storm: Your puny human spells ARE NO MATCH FOR THE FULL POWER OF A MUTANT STORM! WIIIINND AND RAIIIN I SUMMON THEE, TO BLOW DOWN THIS PUNY WIZARD WHO THINKS HE CAN OUT-DO ME!! Haha....Yea, I have an active imagination. :/
Storm delivers speeches faster, and she's proven that she doesn't need to to use her powers. She'd eat him alive. Only not literally, because Storm doesn't kill. However, she would give the old man the beatdown of a lifetime. Especially since the Marvel version of Merlin (spelled 'Merlyn') is a villain.
I love Storm she is my favorite female character, after her Jean. But she is so misrepresented in the media. And they make her weak. If she wanted to she could engulf the entire world in a blizzard. But most people don't know that.
Storm is one of the most powerful hero's in the marvel universe. She holds back a lot kinda like Spiderman, but imagine if she got angry enough and just let loose. And remember how catastrophic natural weather can be
this so brings back my childhood. storm has and always will be my favorite superhero, and this will always be my favorite cartoon. it was basically a soap opera with action. loved her quotes too. they really made her character stand out.
To me, Nimrod brought the best lines out of Storm, “Halt, fill the skies, with rocks of ice..”etc, and “ Crack the heavens, remove this abomination” ⛈🌨🌪🌩
PLEASE show off Storm's true powers in the movies. MY god I live in Michigan and we see 4 different seasons in one single day, no lie. It has literally snowed, then been sunny, a bit of rain, finished off with extreme wind and pink and purple fluffy filled skies. It's truly amazing to be able to witness that extreme weather personally and wish it really was Storm somewhere up there flying around controlling it all ;D Fan boy to the MAX she is 100% the MAIN reason I got into X-Men and then Marvel comics :)
Storm is the only X-Men in the 90s show who did not need her powers to win a fight. Also, i like how she took out the entire Inner Circle by herself. it seems like the rest of the X-Men are worthless
JLPerryTV That Hellfire Club fight was so wicked. The other X-Men were useless, and Storm had to take care of business. She was only taken out by the DARK PHOENIX - and got sucker punched from behind, of all things!
+delirous8 So true. I never got all the hype and solo movies about him (although of course I love Hugh Jackman). I understood at least the focus on Jean, I think she is an interesting character as well, with potential. But giving Wolverine so much, while giving Storm so little? I felt certain the movie people were daft. Still do. Where's my Storm movie?!
I don't want to play the race card but I think it had to do with her being African. She was not given enough credit for being important member of X-Men she was often overshadowed by Jean Grey and to an extent Rogue. Wolverine had the least interesting powers.Storm was level A potential mutant who had the powers to become the most powerful.
That was Alison Sealy Smith who said that. Iona's only iconic line is "Storm, mistress of the elements commands you to release that child!" .. The rest is Alison's, which includes the very famous "I shall meet you at the monorail" or "Beeeeeeee goooooooone!".. Alison >>>>>

Been watching this 10+ years whenever i need a lift. So glad she didn’t take rogue’s advice to “lighten up on the speeches, sugar.”
I was like "How dare you encouraging her to stop" 🤣
“And you shall see them as well..as the mist rises.”
One of my absolute faves and she’s so restrained here!😆
As a Storm fan for over 30 years I have been waiting for this Storm to show up in the movies.
Although there are many actresses that can portray her, I truly don't think there is anyone that would totally do Storm justice.
I would prefer if the movies stayed away from this version of Storm as much as possible. They should incorporate more from the comics instead.
Let's face it, the X-Men would be in big trouble without storm!
give the voice actress a medal that is how you embody a fictional character and capture their personality and put it into work
Iona Morris is absolutely the most iconic and greatest voice of Storm of all time.
Fun Fact: Storm was worshipped as a god in her village because of her powers. That's why she talks like a god when using her powers.
I like that aspect of the character.
i think storm has the strongest power
+John Michael Golloso I think Rogue. she could take Storm's powers
+Terra Rochelle yup
also leader of the morlicks
Don't you just love her
Right lol it's bringing my childhood back playing the X-Men arcade game
typhoon!
I do...so ashamed but I do...lol
frassnik theres no need to be ashamed dude/dudette.
Steve Matos its dude....and we should start a Society of Storm lovers...
Winds Rise and sweep the thorns from our path!!!!! Epic line!!! Such eloquence! 💜 it!!!!
Hopefully Kevin Feige begs to differ..❣️
" shame we'll never see it up on the big screen." You know that's a GOOD thing, right?
"SWIRL, MIGHTY WINDS, AND CARRY US TO JEAN."
"WIND AND WATER, WHIRL AND RAGE."
"NATURE, I COMMAND YOU, BRING FORTH THUNDER AND LIGHTNING."
I love how at 2:01 she dramatically yells
"BE GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I think if I want someone to get away from me; I should totally say it like that. LOL
Lol.
BeeeeeeGOOOOOoOoOoOoONE!
Gotta love it. 🤣
Apparently The Mistress of the Elements is a classically trained actress.
If Storm doesn't sound like this in X-Men 97' I'm cancelling my Disney+
LMFAO! Same! We need THIS elemental goddess back for 97!
She sounds exactly the same
@@Jay-uu6obAlison Sealy Smith is a goddess!!
@@josephensworth7044 YOU MEAN THE GODDESS!
Soooo 5 months later after this comment, let me present to you "Ancient sands, heed my command and reclaim these relics of hatred!" ⚡🌪⚡🌪⚡🌪
Storm literally stood toe to toe with every single X-Men villain introduced in this show
''Lightning, deliver this place from darkness''.-Amen.
HAHHAHAHAHHAHA STORM.
“WIND!...Repel HIM!!!” Fvckin love her
"I summon the full power of the STORM!"
YASSSSSSSS!!!! This is the best version of the character - I love her speeches!
Sausage pizza, hot wings, obey my command feel my stomach with all your grease and gluten!
Haha
I LOLed so hard after reading your comment!
I'm gonna use that someday.
Lol!
Sorry I'm a huge comic nerd.
Lmfao hahahaha
Don't mess with a strong, black woman.
J.D. Contreras they honestly aren't.
Yes Storm = Black Empowerment
♥️♥️🤣🤣🤣🤣
Damn right.
Queen literally took out the entire Hellfire Club by herself.
In a short ass period of time too!
There is an corny factor to her speeches but that's just part of her persona. I love Storm, she is my favorite female character.
When Cyclops finished with his speech for Jean storm wasted no time in calling up a category 5 hurricane. Gotta live this woman and her kick ass no matter attitude.
My favorite is when she said “ Controlling the dirt is nothing to one who commands wind and rain” EPIC teach them lessons Storm
Neal G Do you mean from X2, while flying in the X-jet? Those were tornadoes, not "hurricanes" as they are vastly different atmospheric phenomena 😎
Nah bruh Halle Berry did good she can be my ororo Munroe any day😎
SDR3088 I know right she was the best but I don't know why people critize her
Yes, scripters and directors has much to respond about, not only actors
"I call upon the power of the Hurricane" #TheBestOfAnimatedStorm "Ice, Winds, Storm ... c'mon now ... love this!!!!
Storm tells you exactly what shes about to do to you before she does it, does it, and makes it clear that theres not a damn thing you can do about it. Storm is the shit.
“My ArM BlAsT YoU!!!”
“I believe that pleasure is mine!”
Me in the background: *SLAY*
I remember immitating storm when I was a kid. I was putting my towel just like her cape then ran outside spilling few of her speeches, "I summon the coldness of the arctic wind" and paused for a moment as my playmate was selling the acting of being overwhelmed.😂
YESSSS..!!! Same^.^
I’d use linen sheets😅
Storm had really cool dialog. Those were the days. =)
"She has a beauty and grace but also a power that can terrify." well said.
i love when she talks and say I summon the........ I read that she saying that because these are like her spells to control it or something that's why she is called the weather witch and I wish she do this in the movies they movies make her seem so weak when really she is so strong
"From the ends of the Earth, send limitless cold upon him!" those gotta be some frosty ass conditions.
Loved, loved, loved this version of the Lady Storm!! Like Rogue, the X-Men 'toon really brought her to life and gave her a voice outside of the comics!!
Storm was serving me a vocabulary lesson!!!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Jonathan Porter As much as I like Merlin, Storm would own the Disney version.
Jonathan Porter LMFGAO, I love your vision!!!!!!!!!!!
He has not yet felt the force of the elements.... then she ascends the skies, like a goddess
"Because I can control the weather, they call me Storm." I love it. Gonna say that to my teacher, so I can leave class early.
Lol. :)
Storm is one of the most powerful hero's in the marvel universe. She holds back a lot kinda like Spiderman, but imagine if she got angry enough and just let loose. And remember how catastrophic natural weather can be
Spider-Man holds back?
Spiderman isn't powerful tho
He shouldn't even be compared to Storm ⭐💫 ⚡🌩️
@@mariahwhitneycelinejanetmadona If he didn't hold back, people's heads would explode if he punched them.
Storm has always been one of my favorite characters. She is one the greatest and one of the most powerful characters ever.
Storm u mean
this so brings back my childhood. storm has and always will be my favorite superhero, and this will always be my favorite cartoon. it was basically a soap opera with action. loved her quotes too. they really made her character stand out.
Storm gave me LIFE back in the day!
Yesss hunny!!!!
Summon And command them elements baby let them know who in charge
ohh i love her ponytail hair it suits her uniform look
+Emmanuel Bangayan I love it too. :)
RLAAMJR too bad she will not do that in all ep
JLPerryTV Exactly. People always favored Wolverine over her. I never got it.
JLPerryTV That Hellfire Club fight was so wicked. The other X-Men were useless, and Storm had to take care of business. She was only taken out by the DARK PHOENIX - and got sucker punched from behind, of all things!
+cindy Queen I know right, Wolverine is the most boring and limited X-Men character. They also focuesd a lot on Jean Grey as well.
Iona Morris and Alison Sealy you ladies brought Storm to life in 90s ♥️♥️🔥 I summon the power of the Hurricaneeeeee,!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💪
@@josephensworth7044 ☺️🔥
Imagine Storm just going to buy something. "I, STORM WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE GOODS FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT."
Nah, she'd mostly likely be an Amazon shopper.
I don't think I fully appreciated how satisfying that finisher by Storm over Omega Red (begins at 4:28) was until now.
Have u ever seen the original episode with the voice of Iona Morris instead of this version? If this moves you then you are in for the best "Storm" treat of your life once you see the original. It's epic and amazing and gives me chills every time.
Her speeches are all apart of her divine respect for the elements, they work as partners.
Storm is my all time favorite X-Men. To me, Storm is at her best in this series. Sure they made her powers kinda weak, but she still got that flare or should I say thunderous charm.
The best storm. She always shut shit down.
OG storm: From the ends of the earth, SEND LIMITLESS COLD UPON HIM!
Live action storm: do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning?
"Whirlwind deliver them" 👍🏾💖🤣
He has not yet felt the force of the elements !!
Loving those Storm speeches. Ororo Munroe aka Storm is awesome!
I swear the voice actress must've had an AMAZING time voicing Storm
Oh she did!
The Storm from the 90's cartoon series is the best above
all versions
"He has not yet felt the force of the elements!...
From the ends of the earth. Send limitless cold upon him!"
Thanks for sharing. This shows just how kick ass this character truly is.
Love her! One of my fav, if not, THE FAV comic book character from all of Marvel/DC. She was just epic in XMTAS and the music that accompanied her was so bad ass too! The voice the monologues -- all appropriate, all epic! wish we could get a stand alone movie of this amazingly rich character. One of my fav lines " winds from the heavens, remove these souls of intolerance!!!"
Magneto: I will take over the world! No one can stop me!
Wolverine:No you won't...we won't let you!
Rogue:Storm its time to beat this guy!
Magneto:Wait did you say Storm!!!???
Rogue:Yea just hope her eyes don't turn white, cause you'll be done!
Storm: I SUMMON THE POWER OF THE ARCTIC WINDS!
Xmen: Ohhhhh shitttttt!
Storm:WINDS OF THE SAHARA DESSERT, HEED MY COMMAND!
This show was like a soap opera with superpowers and it rocks.
