Brent Altemus Agreed! I also always loved how Rogue would have to finish Jean’s tasks because she was too weak to do it herself. I especially loved the scene when Jean fell off the cliff, and Rogue had to fly down and catch her. What I hated is that the writers of the X-Men show were very inconsistent with how Jean could sometimes use her telekinesis to levitate herself and sometimes she could not. Truly, Jean was the weakest of the X-Men in this version of the show. I did like XMEN EVOLUTION, though, where Jean’s powers were played as much stronger and greater than they were in X-Men The animated series.
People talk about the power cord and the broken shield, but I think the one that takes the cake is her proudly saying she's phoenix, and then faints immediately for no reason.
To be fair it's a fairly accurate recreation of the scene from the comics. Of course it probably worked better there, because comic Jean wasn't useless lol.

They downplayed Jean because the show was made for little boys that wouldn't be interested in seeing the most powerful member of the X-Men be a girl. So they downplayed her into some lame ass whose power is migraines and fainting. Jean Grey is, by no stretch of anyone's imagination, a "bad" character if you actually know the characters you're talking about. Learn your source material.
