Ebikes are funny when it comes to range and higher speeds. Something like the Grom probably gets the best range at about 40 mph, but the Sur Ron would be happiest at about 20 for the best range.
Most I got was 90km range on a 2024 ron with a 40ah battery, but keep in mind it was on street, I was tucking for air resistance and going eco mode Max speed, I also only Weigh 120lbs
Another great one man! Can't wait to see the next one about everything you're doing to the grom next! My MNNTHBX intake came in this week and I'm debating and going with a cam next!
It would be really cool if someone could make a battery pack with LTO lithium titanate battery cells. They have a lower voltage and so you would need to use a lot of cells to reach the voltage, but there are many other advantages, such as the very high discharge rate. higher and charging can be very fast, in addition to greater cycle durability
It was a toss up of if I bought my crf250x and the sur ron. Really the deciding factor was the capability and range. Now that I see how capable these things are and that the range is not bad. Wish I would have gotten the sur ron.
I think some manufacturers are estimating based on "the bike by itself on a treadmill", but yeah they generally seem very optimistic. Too optimistic, even if going double the speed quadruples your power draw.
@Jsterninja a 72v battery is almost too much who is actually going 65-70mph in it, when it comes to range you 60 amp hour battery at 60 volts with the right controller is all you need which will double your range and maintain 50-60mph
@@highdesertbiker the first 20 miles where at 20mph and it only got down to 66%, then the next 13 miles was about 35mph on the dirt which got the battery in the red zone on the display. Then i went those last 6.9 miles on level pavement at 20mph
ANY UPDATES?? Any new mods or regrets? How does it fit in your life and how are you typically using it? I too have other bikes, but I can’t but help think I’d use the crud out of one of these.
I've found ( or actually understand) a mathematical way to predict range which seems pretty accurate so far. I plan on tinkering with it over the next month or so. I'll update the video on results.
I would have preferred the distance test done the exact opposite ... in sport mode giving it the beans the whole time. Then we'd know how much fun one can expect on a full charge. If it was very low I would consider buying a second battery. edit - Plus the video would be shorter and you'd have fun the whole time.
Considering I could almost fit your Grom in my pocket, or use it as a roller skate, a Surron wouldn't stand a chance with me on it. Even if it could handle my weight it might get 10 miles per charge.
Where did you film this? And when will you ride some real/manly/adult 😁 motorcycles? (No offense intended, Talon. I am subscribed and enjoy all ….. most of your videos.)
Street legal version available from ebmx with full aftermarket upgrades. EBMX have literally taken an ugly duckling full of potential and turned it into a fuckin swan
For this to be worthwhile at it's price point for ME, it would need to have at least 50 miles range on eco mode and maybe 35 miles on sport mode. They do keep getting better every few years though, I am quite impressed at the current lineup especially the Sur-Ron X. Again, it comes down to the price tag for me. I can't justify it yet when gas offers more at the same price. Great video Talon Sei!
Nice to just be Sur-Ronded in nature like that.
smooth, and how was this 2 days ago..

Awesome you can get another mile out of it when it's on 0%. Thanks for doing the test, it's a question everyone has to ask themselves.

Big weight and size difference
The CRF is 10000x cooler. I know just an opinion
I wonder what rider weight the manufacturer range estimate is based on? Maybe 150lbs?
I think some manufacturers are estimating based on "the bike by itself on a treadmill", but yeah they generally seem very optimistic. Too optimistic, even if going double the speed quadruples your power draw.
Almost 30, sheesh that's awesome. Thoughts on maybe a long term review video next year to test battery degradation?
You need the 72 volt sur Ron battery to get the best range and speed
The purpose of this was testing it stock…

120lbs? Kid/chick or something lol
Thank you for the review I was thinking of getting one since gas prices are up with a 16m distance and worst traffic daily one way I might be able to
Spend 4,500 to save a little on gas? Might break even in 2 years I guess
In a year, I spend about $400 a month which would be 4.8k
@@michaelbacile8439 But the Sur Ron would be way more fun than sitting in traffic in a car
Are we gonna get a Meepo Hurricane video?
Good info. Thanks for the upload
nice. You do a long term on this bike?
Nice eco mode kicks in. How many miles do you have left at wot.
It sounds like your talking through a fan 🤣😂keep up the good work
Does top speed go lower when the battery is low
Have you cut the wire

What is that time wise about like one hour,2 hours?
whats the difference of surron x and light bee
Its the same bike
how many mph does it go

Why is everyone getting way different outcomes on eco on similar rides lol
It’s Tetanus that you can get from a rusty nail puncture. Tetanus. From what I understand, the Tetanus shot is equally painful.
How many hours ?
Pls do this test again in sport pls

How much do you weight? I'm 250lbs and was considering investing in one of these
Will a new battery help with the mileage or should I get a new motor too?
New battery and controller would do the trick
Can't wait to see this thing modded to the teeth
is the bike stock?
how much riding time did that 28 miles work out to?
basic math 28 miles at 30mph is just under 1 hour
A non stock Suron must be cool I’m betting they have better after market batteries
Come ride some fun trails with us near Boulder to see what your Sur Ron can really do.
They can do anything I own alot of "toys" and this one is by far the easiest to take where u want it.
God... I would love to commute on this thing.
Thinking about getting one of these. What do you think about my size? 6'3 255. Is this compatible for this bike in your opinion?
Check out the Talaria Sting. Same bike but a little better for taller folks.
Yes I’m 6’0 245
I usually can go like 35 miles on one charge I'm like 5,6 and 130 pounds
In sport or eco?
Can you ride it on the road without a license or permit?
why would u need a license for something u cant even register
as long as you keep to the right when cops are around and keep a 20mph speed around them, they don't give a fuck.
is it worth it?
Well your getting a double view out of me because I instantly fell asleep last night
How much is it ?
ua-cam.com/video/wP0TM9qP6zo/v-deo.html
So I'd get like 4 miles
Do you need a motorcycle license for it?
No
@ 2:16 - did he say he ran over a bunch of goats' heads?
Yea the seeds / thorns. Bindi
I first learned about goat heads when my surron had its first flat!
@@TalonSei I thought you meant actual goat skulls. City boy here thinking of buying a Sur ron for whipping around the streets,,
Just thinking about getting one. Anyone serious downfalls?
Thing is solid as few things you have to change if you want optimum but it’s good

Very cool
I’m 6ft 3 and 19 stone will I be to big?? Somebody help me plz because I’m considering buying a Sur Ron??? HELP

Nice bike but imagine running out of battery. If it ain’t gas it’s trash. Tho I do admit nice bike. But for the price tag I need more range..
