  • What does a full battery on a 100% stock Surron X? In this video I attempt to go from my house to a mountain summit with using the list amount of roads possible. This is my first off road Sur Ron e-bike test and I was impressed!

    I am amazed that it can take that much abuse and keep ticking. Really impressive. Kind of annoying that the bike shuts off before it reaches 0%. 6% should mean you can still keep going. Otherwise there should be a way to recalibrate the percentage so 0 corresponds to shutoff. Great video.

      What I noticed on mine, was that depending on how hard you are throttling at the end, will greatly impact where it finally dies. I was able to get mine down to 0, but I was at a crawl and trying to get home....barely made it, at 0.

      Battery sag. They don't drain linearly.

    • @ownzies100
      @ownzies100 2 роки тому +2

      You're not supposed to kill lithium batteries, it's probably a protective measure or battery sag. With older or not properly used batteries, internal cell resistance increases. This causes the voltage to "sag" a lot more when higher amperage is drawn. The voltage will drop under it's true value and slowly recover. This can push batteries below a safe voltage which would result in the bikes failsafe cutting off battery power.

    I have a Sur Ron X black edition with a 60v-32a/h battery. 17-20 miles max range doing offroad. Going from a 54tooth to a 60 tooth rear sprocket didn't change the range much. Yeah, pretty lame range for what you pay on one of these bikes.
    I then upgraded the controller to BAC4000 and did stock battery bypass. Range was about the same, maybe 1-2 miles less on 7000W setting (stock controller is about 5000W.)
    I then upgraded to a 60V/60a/hr battery and range is 26-29 miles. Kinda lame after having spent $1700 on that battery.

    I'm thinking of getting one of these in Australia.
    Will also check other vids you do on this with mods.

    Good ride..amazing bike..I will bet you went into LVC..Low Voltage Cutoff..that is to protect the speed control and Battery from damage..happens on my RC's all the time..have fun.

      Yep turns out that kicks in at 6%! I just figured the software would be smart enough to have 0% actually be the low cut off

    Need a down hill course w turns for more regeneration maybe you complete ride. Maybe a different approach to throttle consumption of energy. An interesting goal. Know of someone up heading similar cycle for more battery power. More power=more distance.

    Lithium ion batteries should never be drained all the way for longevity. I was actually surprised you pushed it all the way to 6% but I was a little relieved to see it shut off. Haha. From the RC days I think the general rule of thumb is don’t let lithium ion batteries go below 10% for the longest life out of them

    • @MrDmadness
      @MrDmadness 3 роки тому

      No modern lithium battery ever goes below actual 10% the bms will shut it down at 48.7 volts. In In rush conditions. E.g your battery is at 50v "pressure" and you hard throttle closing the circuit and putting large demand on the potentiometer ( throttle ) the voltage will drop below 48.7 volts and bms shuts it off, hence why it "died" at 6% it did not have the "pressure" to move the bike+rider before it dropped to cut off.

    Dude you literally drive over every stone you can find xD TBH I'd love one of bikes like that. Silent enough not to make trouble on trails.

      Biggest rocks = damn near head on each time, just like my riding odds.. If there's any branches sticking out into trail, best believe that I'm gonna do my best to slap them away with the softest part of my neck while at top speeds...
