- this welder was bought just for aluminum welding and is total crap and customer support is a joke
the manufacturer has contacted me via email, they linked me to a bunch of Pinterest videos for the early version of this welder (literally says early version lol) and a link to another welder they sell that's a completely different machine, so they cant even find videos that are helpful for their own machine
their other tips were make sure I'm using the graphene liner ( well duh)
and make sure the spool holder isn't to tight , the spool holder that doesn't spin and has a spring loaded nut again no real help
they have also stated they are sending me a replacement and use the current one for parts or dispose
Update so the offer of we saw your youtube video and will send out a replacement machine because we think yours is defective has become we want videos of the issues emailed to them for the "tech support team" to evaluate
if/when a new machine arrives I will try to do a full video start to finish on the conversion for aluminum since i only bought this to do aluminum
look for another video soon of their 65 amp plasma cutter
HUGE SIDE NOTE :THE COMPANY NEEDS TO CLEARLY STATE THE CIRCUIT SIZE IN AMPERAGE AND VOLTAGE REQUIRED TO RUN EACH MACHINE ON THEIR SITE , IT TOOK SEVERAL EMAILS TO GET THE AMPERAGE INFO FROM THEM LIKE THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW, IMPROPER CIRCUIT SIZE WILL NOT ALLOW THE MACHINES TO WORK PROPERLY
here is a link to a follow up video
• yeswelder mig-250 pro ...
link to cut 65 plasma cutter doing aluminum

You don't know what the hell you're doing!
😂😅ha haha
Bird nesting: to much feed roller tension.
Burning tip or wire melted into tip: need more distance between gun and target. This is a spray arc and if you have it close like mig the aluminum will melt into tip. Just a reminder, use 100% argon. The nut holding the spoon should only be tight enough to keep the spool from freely turning.
Try a different brand wire. I use the Harbor Freight 5053 .035" wire in my machine and it works great. I used up an entire roll of the stuff with no bird nests, not a single one. That machine is not made for 4043 wire, it won't work at all, it will just bird nest. Your polarity is correct, the manual is wrong, I showed this in my video. I have been using this machine for 3 months and currently using it for my tracked vehicle project and have not had 1 issue. I'm still using the original tip on the mig gun. Maybe you got a defective unit? Not sure, but I'd certainly try a different brand wire first.
There is a follow up video with replacement machine
Your right lol
You need a spool gun to push soft wire the shortish distance
I have one of these and it’s been a fantastic machine. The wire issue was a matter of setting the tension right and they fixed it perfectly.
@@RustBucketConnoisseurLMAO EXACTLY MY FRIEND!!! I have this machine and have welded 1/4 aluminum and it was no problem. I am a fitter welder and build aluminum travelling bridges so I know how to weld aluminum and this guys is a moron lol
What kind of aluminum wire are you using? If you’re using 4043 try switching over to 5356. 5356 is a stiffer wire and should feed through the liner better. Hope this helps.
5356 .035
Most situations like this is user error
Did you try switching polarity? I recall seeing another video where the user set it up as described in the directions provided with the welder it welded much like yours. When he switched polarity it welded aluminum like a champ.
I had switched it they sent me a replacement welder this one was apparently defective, I have a video on here un boxing and assembly and welding
Pro tip from a production MiG welder: get rid of the pop-off nozzles. The screw in tips always gunks up and burn up. The drop-in tips/ screw on nozzle is the only way to go.
I agree 100% on the slip on nozzle, i dont like that type, just my 2 cents.
Shouldn't you be using a spool or push pull gun? Or does yes welder say you can use the same gun for steel and aluminum?
This machine is made to run aluminum mig, you change the liner in the mig lead and the feed wheel and remove a steel feed tube inside the machine basically then there are settings in the machine for aluminum
I’m a bit late to seeing this but to prevent birds nesting adjust drive roll tension properly. Good way to adjust to is to feed wire through at a 15 degree angle to the ground and once you hit 90 degrees you want your drive roll to slip so that it can’t birdsnest. And like others have said you should be keeping your nozzle further away than typical mig bc aluminum you are going to want to run it spray transfer.
Did you change the liner in the mig gun wire for welding aluminum
Yes
Well it is good to see someone talking about support. The support is important. Support is at the top of a company. Everything' downstream in the company is fed by support. Parts distribution. Warranty repairs how that is handled,? returns in general. So if you have one bad component how is this handled. So if they don't invest in knowledgeable people in support, they are not going good for parts. I have gotten burned so many times buying something cheaper and have to throw it away because there is no parts.
This is why aluminum goes directly from spool gun to workpiece. Spool guns exsist for that reason. Aluminum way too soft to be feeding through all that, personally I've never seen aluminum set up from the machine for that very reason but I only graduated from trade school 3 years ago and that's just what I have come to know.
Yeah this looked like a great idea and having the mig whip vs a spool gun makes it easier to get into some places but the spool guns probably the best way and also why the new version of this machine comes setup for a spool gun
The Fronius Transteel does weld aluminium without the need of a spool gun, however it cost almost three time as much the Yeswelder.
You get any response from customer service? Hopefully they'll send a new one or refund it.
They claim to be sending a replacement, I also bought .045 aluminum wire to see if that helps with penetration
Hey brother same feeling here!! The exact same problems here
Do not buy this machine guys!!
I have had every model of name brand welder and I am very curious about these cheap import welders. I am going to start buying them up and leaving reviews.
I bought this to do one job in aluminum and haven't used it since, went back to my Lincoln mig with knobs for steel welding, all this digital seems overkill just to look fancy and make stuff more complicated than it needs to be
try a 045 tip
*_LOL. Never ceases to amaze me that people get a mig welder to weld aluminum. Listen, get a freaking tig welder to weld aluminum and stop cutting corners._*
Good information! I hope someone planning on buying one of these, see this video first. Now they are advertising the Firstess which I Think is way too expensive. I'll stay with my Lincoln 210MP.
Brilliant video thank you 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Make sure the polarity is correct mig gun should be on the DCEP side like tig ! around 30 on gas and a longer stick out !
There seems to be 2 versions of the same machine this is the newest, but the included books for the earlier
The polarity shown in the book it won't weld at all in aluminum just pops and globs that fall off, to get anything you have to reverse the polarity of what's in the book
I can get it to weld but only surface penetration no matter how I adjust the heat and speed , it also won't do aluminum in synergy mode just melts tips and pops
@@THEJERK67 did you use 100% argon while you welded aluminum? Make sure you use the Teflon liner in the gun. I’ve used this welder a couple times to mig aluminum but usually if I need to weld aluminum I picked up one of their tig torches and it works better than my esab tig welder to be honest
@@danny-fs6hk yes with their brand flow gauge regulator 30-35 psi flow
Sounds like you used the softer of the two aluminum wires that are available. which every single video says not to use
it also sounds like you may be using it in the Baltimore area that could be the problem. lol
I have had mine for over a year and I have welded mild steel up to 1/2" and 3/8" aluminum with no problems, sounds like user error. FYI you cant use .035 for aluminum you need .045 aluminum wire and it will work just fine. I bought a seperate MIG gun $59.00 to use just for aluminum mig welding. Just saying, and I have no stake in Yeswelder.
I'm using .045 wire, won't work in synergy and keeps stopping feed, bad noises coming from inside the machine when it feeds, on manual dosent seem to be consistent on the heat , either I got a bad gun or a bad machine, yeswelder has offered to replace it but then nothing so...
You might just have a lemon? Send it back for a refund? Did you buy it on Amazon?
Bought direct, customer service emailed and said they are sending a replacement just throw this one in trash or use for parts, aluminum mug is all I bought this for and I spend more time fighting with the machine than welding lol
Thier plasma cutter works nice
YOU NEED
A PUSH PULL GUN
OR
A SPOOL GUN
ALUMINUM WIRE PUSHING A ROPE UPHILL
PUSH PULL GUN OR SPOOL GUN
I was wondering how the aluminum would work without the spool gun. Looks like for best results the spool gun is necessary.
I do have a follow-up video on here obviously there was something wrong with this machine the replacement machine did work better but in the end the current version they saw this machine also accepts a spool gun which probably would have been the best thing although with some of the areas I needed to get into I'm not sure a spool gun would have got into them because I had to fabricate a large piece on a vehicle in place then take it off and finish weld it
@@THEJERK67 ok gotcha. Yea I was mostly just curious if I should break down and get the spool gun with it.
have to get spool gun
I was looking at this machine wow it was a well , wow great machines then I thought about it I stuck with my favorite machines which I have 3 Pimeweld 225 tig ,
Great , 180 mig great, 60 plasma cutter I love . Then all , was looking at the this 250 something don't same right about this
They are ready pushing it , I thing there trying to take the market from Pimeweld. Wich is red hot with the 225 tig and the 60 cutter. Who knows. Good thing I did not get the 250.
It's the mig thing doing things that just don't work.
Would be nice if it did . But
Right now the way all this new welding things coming out , who knows.
I have the same machine and get good results mig welding aluminum, I push into the weld and move fast, maybe something wrong with your machine
I'm also pushing the welds,I'm now using .045 wire and it goes from no penetration to melting the 1/4 plate lol without me touching settings , definitely something wrong with this machine on this mode
Get a needle bearing washer to fit the shaft of the spool and let it ride on that and I would get a newer type Mig gun with a nice spring holding the hose coming out of the machine and run a wipey pad on the wire allows for a cleaner operation running through the liner try to keep the Mig hose level and straight for now see if it improves and once in awhile give it a little stretchy, a taunt pull as they will shrink slightly over time.
Need a spool gun
Looks like you have the spool too tight - should be virtually free to turn no washers needed
You need to upgrade the damn gun...
Old video welder was defective, they sent a replacement
Listen whit this machine Thas better spool gun But for me I used Tig
You need 5051 aluminum wire.
Not for 5k and 6k series aluminum
I have a everlast is awsome vulcan aren't bad miller is awsome esab to
None of the problems you have experienced - welds great. I followed Making Stuff 's directions here and A-for-away ua-cam.com/video/CR37yvZALdk/v-deo.html Hope this helps you!
I've seen this video, mine won't weld in senergy mode
Also he failed to remove a metal guide spring the wire feeds thru in the machine and he didn't set the Teflon liner depth correctly so guessing he got lucky with not birdnesting inside the unit
Thanks for trying to help :)
Got rid of mine!
These machines have some quirks to say the least. They weld great and are good quality but you have to figure out the quirks. Manuals aren’t helpful. Spend the extra money and buy a better brand. That’s why they cost more and that’s why these are cheap
It stops feeding when the wire burns back to the tip. Sucks that the synergy setting can't do it. But in my experience with Lincolns that aren't for aluminum I start with the voltage low and walk up the the right setting. Yes Welder has no idea how to teach or support the customers. Also do a light push not drag. Also check your polarity.
Yeah they sent me a replacement machine this machine there was something wrong with it the replacement does work a little bit better but the synergy mode still was just melting everything I do have followed up videos
@@THEJERK67 Just a suggestion but try TimWelds he's a good teacher. ua-cam.com/video/48y-7sGRDtc/v-deo.html
Tig AC 💯💪
This also does Tig but for what I'm doing really needed the mig to work
User error
They should send you a new one or refund your money 💰
Customer service is a joke have no idea about the stuff they sell and is not in USA, they also use a fake USA shell address to pretend it's a USA company, everything ships from Amazon even if you buy direct from the company
Yeah man everything you showed isnt the welders fault. You arnt operating it correctly.
If you don’t like the machine I’ll help you cut your losses and give you 50$ for it
This video is several years old they have a newer version, and they had replaced this machine because it was in fact defective
Sir, other brands use a "Graphite wire feed tube" for the use of Aluminum wire.
Maybe that's your problem.
The machine didn't come with that feed tube? And you discard it.
Most 250Amps machines come with the special tube. (3 : 19 minute)
ua-cam.com/video/cCHnH7wwDiI/v-deo.html
It did come with that liner ,I did use that liner, unit was defective and replaced by mfg, this was version 2 of this unit
I can definitely say I'm glad you put these videos up because I was actually watching the videos on it and was going to buy one of these machines to have as a portable machine to do aluminum welding I think I'll just stick to my prime weld Tig 225x to do my aluminum welding!
They sent me a replacement machine if you look at my other videos, it worked a little better this machine definitely had an issue
The machine may do better than what I'm getting, one thing I think I'm seeing is a delay between trigger pull and feed start, which causes burn back and kills tips also a lack of smooth constant feed is definitely going to cause other issues
I haven't tried the stuck weld setting, I bought everything for tig but haven't tried that either
I really wish this was a dual voltage machine
Or I had bought the dual voltage multi process with spool gun hookup
I won't be using this for mig on steel I bought it just for aluminum
Don’t let one video change your mind. He’s not doing it oroperly
You just don’t know how to use it
It's junk
