Believe this is an urban legend throughout New England. Used to believe this myself but dug a little deeper into it and no one is able to find substantial evidence to support this.
After seeing CampingWithSteves “camping in a roundabout” video, I’ve always thought about someone doing it in the cape cod roundabout. Glad someone finally decided to do it!
You are near my neck of the woods and I love that SW inspired you to camp in a rotary! However, that rotary is VERY busy with police always around because of the tourists. I was not surprised to have one come up to you and thought you were going to find a flashlight in your face after dark. :O I was also concerned about you crossing that traffic as a pedestrian! Helpful hint removing pine sap.... use hand sanitizer. Rub it in and you will be able to lift it off. It's the alcohol in it but the viscosity helps to sit on the sap to soften it. Good luck! Love your channel!
I have that rotary as my homescreen on my phone that I took from the Dunkin parking lot with my car in front of it. Now every time I see it I'm reminded somebody camped in there. That is awesome. Good for you man 🎉
I had to drop by that state police barracks for directions. They weren't happy to interact, and they didn't want to be bothered. That bridge is a nightmare during peak season, and I have spent hours waiting to cross. It was worth it. Cape cod is beautiful, especially the outer Cape.
Hello Wes, you are my absolute favorite youtuber and a huge inspiration for me. In the country I live in (Germany) it is extremely difficult to camp ANYWHERE, but you have given me so many ideas and possibilities. Im only 16 yet, but when i get older, ill camp the world like you do. Cool guy.
Reminds me when me and a friend camped in a 10 foot fishing boat that was a decoration in a roundabout in a Swedish equivalent to Cape Cod, Åhus, back in the 90s…
This is seriously so exciting I love Steve and to see someone doing something like his rotary video right near my hometown is making me smile. And the fact your channel is gaining some more attention!! AAAA 😁✌🏻
Also want to say, people on the Cape are for so nosy and in others business and a lot of them are older so more likely to call police on someone walking around lmao
In a car detail shop, we would always use rubbing alcohol for tree sap, or lacquer thinner, but I doubt you'd wanna use thinner on your clothes. If you use rubbing alcohol, use 99%, and then rinse really good in cold water before you throw in washing machine.....
Many years ago the inmates in New England County Jails were fed Lobster because it was so cheap. I just got back from going up to the Redwoods and then over to Mount Shasta and Mount Lassen. In the Avenue of the Giants I used to camp on the sly in the South Fork area of Humboldt County. It is private property owned by the big Timber Company. We found several hiding places. I loved doing that. The old NWP railroad ran through there and the track is still there. I am a Rail Fan. There are several tunnels which might be good for Stealth Camping. The train has not run for over 20 years. There are some disused Rolling Stock all along where the railroad went. It was shut down suddenly. There is a lot of railroad cars near Scotia, CA. Some call it the Ghost Train. Near the north side of Mount Shasta is a Veterans Memorial near Highway 97, north of Weed, CA. I slept in among the displays to honor Americas Veterans. Further east and south toward Mount Lassen are a few Snow Cabins for Snowmobiles and such. There are fairly abandoned during the summer. I slept by one last night called Deer Mountain to the south of State Highway 97. I really loved the stars. Some of this is fairly Stealthy and some is just totally legit Dispersed Camping.
Was just in Cape Cod, drove right by that rotary. Discovered the New England Lobster Roll in a quaint old restaurant in Woods Hole. Your video is making me hungry! What amazing adventures you have! Keep em coming and stay safe!

Bloody hilarious. Reminded of one of our many lockdowns here in Melbourne during the Covid Carry-on. I walked to a mates place for a beer one valley over.the police helicopter was up sniffing around for someone. In the dark I bumped into half of my small town, all out doing the same thing. Magnificent. 🇦🇺👍🍺
To remove pine sap, use “Orange hand cleaner” mine is in the pump type container. Apply it with warm-hot water and scruby brush. Rinse and repeat… Mostly gone on the first scrub and all gone on the second scrub.
Used that once plus Dawn when in middle school I accidentally sat on a pine tree stump while waiting to be picked up. Still remember it all these years later XD
I've driven past this rotary many times. Would have never guessed to camp there. I honestly don't know how you managed to get away with that with the State Police being there and having to cross basically a highway to get to that spot. Your like Camping with Steve taken next level.
I love Steve Wallis too. Also live about 20 minutes from this rotary. After watching his episode I literally said "Wow, it'd be freakin' crazy if someone camped in the Sandwich Cape Cod rotary!" and here we are! You just got yourself a new follower! Cool shit bro!
I didn't know there was a name for it besides "camping where you don't belong." Years ago while hitchhiking two consecutive summers, I found that some of the best camping could be found inside highway medians. I based camped for a week in one in Missouri. I also like state parks. And those enormous pine trees are great for camping under, you just happened along at the wrong time of year. I could completely cover myself in pine needles so even a cursory check, outside looking in, would not reveal me in my army surplus mummy bag. So, I was stealth camping? I am envious of your gear. Back in the late 60's lightweight gear like that simply didn't exist. Great video. 1st time viewer.

BTW- they definitely did NOT get a SINGLE call about you. 🤦♀️these cops are so cringe. My father was a cop/detective in the 80”s here.. oh the stories… lol
They definitely got multiplw calls lol i live here and a lot of Cape Codders are nosy as can be
@@Grateful-1992 no way.. especially if he’s walking around with a camera on a famous rotary that people have been known for taking pictures in front of it for decades.. not even a tourist would bother.
@@miahfukinrella007yes they absolutely would call the police.. most of Cape cod is old timers who call the police just as something to do cuz they're retired and bored
@@TheSultanOfBlocks🙄never heard of that unless someone was staggering drunk. None of anyone I’ve ever known in 50 years who went to that famous rotary to get pictures/video ever spoke to an officer. I’m a local an I can’t imagine calling the cops over that. It’s like the Las Vegas sign😂
@@miahfukinrella007 what does being drunk have anything to do with calling the police..your a local huh coulda fooled me.. calling it the las Vegas sign is crazy 🤣 I'm sure some nosy oldies would call the police over there too..they do it just to be an annoyance cuz there life is beyond boring..I've seen it first hand 🤣😂
Just removed pine sap from a camping trip with goo gone. It worked well but I think paint thinner would have also worked. Great video. Thanks.
you're so right about Lobster. They used to serve it at the state prison in Maine a lot. It was a cheap way to feed the inmates.
Thanks Michelle, yeah I'm glad it ended up working out!! I will give hand sanitizer/rubbing alcohol a try, thank you for the tip! 🙏
Cool guy.
Looking forward to your Maine episode(s), my neck of the woods
I can't wait for Maine!! It looks uniquely rugged & beautiful up there 🌲
Reminds me when me and a friend camped in a 10 foot fishing boat that was a decoration in a roundabout in a Swedish equivalent to Cape Cod, Åhus, back in the 90s…
alcohol based stuff works good on sap. found that foaming Dawn soap is alcohol based and works better than rubbing alcohol
Turpentine removes pine sap
Wow dude. Amazing. God bless. Love it when you’re in NYC.
Man, 86k views and only 2.9k likes. What's wrong with people nowadays? Is it so difficult to hit that button? Wes is taking you on a camping places you either would never go yourself or could never get. Good job Wes. Pls continue doing it for the minority of us. Stay safe.
Glad you are enjoying the adventures!! I really appreciate your support. I will keep it up and stay safe :)
It’s a lot of work to make a video like this one, and I don’t understand why more people who take the time to watch the video don’t give it a thumbs up. Right now it is over 23K views and only 3.6K likes.
Sleeping in a roundabout. Good one 👍
I have an office 5 minutes down the street - this is savage, especially with the state police station where it is...had me rolling lol
You're not a true masshole until you consume a lobsta roll in the Cape Cod Rotary!!!
arguably the most famous rotary in a state known for its rotaries. legendary work
Hi Wes, really enjoying your channel! if you like roundabouts you should come visit the UK we have over 26,000 of them here!!
Thanks David, glad you are enjoying the adventures! I definitely want to get out there sometime... already have some ideas in mind!! 🇬🇧🏕️
To remove pine sap, use “Orange hand cleaner” mine is in the pump type container.
Apply it with warm-hot water and scruby brush. Rinse and repeat…
Mostly gone on the first scrub and all gone on the second scrub.
I really like this one.
Glad you enjoyed this one :)
Olive oil and paper towel quickly takes sap off of anything. I use it constantly on my dogs. Cool video in a place I know very well!
Used that once plus Dawn when in middle school I accidentally sat on a pine tree stump while waiting to be picked up. Still remember it all these years later XD
I’ve driven this rotary dozens of times and never noticed the campsite in the center.
There isn’t one
Pretty epic locations so far. Excited to see the rest of this long road trip
Excited to see some awesome camping in da UP
I am too!! :)
I've driven past this rotary many times. Would have never guessed to camp there. I honestly don't know how you managed to get away with that with the State Police being there and having to cross basically a highway to get to that spot. Your like Camping with Steve taken next level.
Steve would be proud, love the video, where did Ma sleep ? Haha
Thanks Kyle, her & Preston were close by :)
That's Bourne dude.
Bourne Rotary
😂oh this is awesome!! Lobster roll and Cajun fries! Perfect. So fun. Loved this video.
Thanks Martha, glad you enjoyed this one :)
This is the first time I've ever watched a stealth camping video and been like, "I know that place!" because I've driven that rotary many, many times.
That "Dunkin'" 😐 used to be a Bob's Big Boy. Thanks for stopping by 'ol Cape Cod! 😘 😆
Yup on my Way home from island always stop there to buy my 3lbs coffee ☕️ for $19:99
It used to be an IHOP
Bae, wake up
New Wes just dropped
Love Steve Wallis. Went looking for more stealth camping because of him and your video did not disappoint!
#ROUNDABOUTARY
#ROTARTRAFFICABOUT hahahaha
man this video had asoo much potential, needs to be waaay longer!!
