This was from later on in Dio's life, so his voice was a bit "huskier" than it used to be, but he was always amazing. He's widely considered to be the greatest vocalist of all time in hard rock/metal.
Ronnie was often named the greatest metal vocalist of all time, and I tend to agree! Small in stature, but blessed with a powerful voice, he was taken from us by stomach cancer 14 years ago! He has quite the legacy: the band Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio, and Heaven and Hell. He is missed!! R.I.P.
In my honest opinion, Ronnie James Dio Rest in peace has always been one of my exdream favorite singers of all time. He was a classically trained trumpet player, and that's where he got his breathing techniques from.
Born Ronald James Padavona, he was Italian-American & raised Catholic. He started singing as a teenager in the late 50's and renamed himself Ronnie James Dio ('Dio' or 'Deus' is Latin for "God") ... His early career was in the 60's making do wop/ R&B cover songs... Eventually he formed a rock n' roll band that became the heavy rock band Elf in the early 70's and they opened for Deep Purple on tour. Despite his short stature, Ronnie James Dio had a huge, majestic voice... He was asked in 1975 to join Rainbow, a band formed by Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore... Ronnie recorded 3 albums w/ Rainbow before he was fired in 1979 after Blackmore wanted the band to play more commercial music. In '79, Ronnie met guitarist Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath and was asked to replace Ozzy Osbourne, who had been fired... Ronnie became the singer of Black Sabbath from 1980 to 1982 and rejuvenated the band's record sales and popularity... Ronnie was fired in '82 due to disagreements within the band after 2 albums; he took Sabbath's then-drummer Vinny Appice w/ him to form a new band. In 1983, Ronnie named his new band Dio, having name recognition as the ex-singer of Rainbow & Black Sabbath... w/ Vinny Appice (drums), he recruited Jimmy Bain (bass) and Vivian Campbell (guitar)... and debuted the album 'Holy Diver'... it became a heavy metal classic and sold platinum in the US... 2nd album 'The last in line' in 1984 also went platinum. 3rd album 'Sacred Heart' went gold as Vivian Campbell left Dio (He is currently the guitarist of Def Leppard) and Craig Goldy (guitar) did the tour and the 1987 album 'Dream evil'. Unfortunately, Dio's line-up completely changed by 1990 for the album 'Lock up the wolves'... and did not sell commercially... In 1992, Ronnie briefly reunited w/ Black Sabbath and released the album 'Dehumanizer'... he left the band again in 1993 after refusing to open for Ozzy Osbourne. Dio returned w/ a new line-up in 1993 w/ the albums 'Strange highways'... followed by 'Angry machines' in 1996... but their popularity had been decimated in the 90's by the grunge/ alternative rock scene. Still, Dio persisted and released the concept album 'Magica' in 2000... followed by 'Killing the dragon' in 2002 and 'Master of the Moon' in 2004 and saw a rise in popularity again. In 2006, Ronnie James Dio reunited w/ members of Black Sabbath to tour under a new name - Heaven and Hell (which was the title of Ronnie's first Black Sabbath album in 1980) They released 1 album 'The Devil you know' in 2009. Tragically, Ronnie James Dio was diagnosed w/ cancer and passed away in 2010 at age 67... He is credited w/ popularizing the famous "Devil's horns" gesture "🤘"... which he said was inspired by his elderly, superstitious Catholic grandmother, who would flash the gesture to war off the "evil eye".

Happy to see y'all start on a journey with Ronnie James Dio, the GOAT metal vocalist. Other songs of his to check out: Rainbow - Stargazer Black Sabbath - Heaven & Hell Dio - The Last in Line
Try some Ronnie James Dio when he was in the band Rainbow - The song "Stargazer" is a must listen, just EPIC. Highly recommend some of his live concert footage with Rainbow from the 1977 Munich concert - "Mistreated" and "Catch the Rainbow" are a couple of spectacular performances from both Dio and the band, led by Ritchie Blackmore previously from the band Deep Purple.
I was going to suggest the same song! I already suggested it once when they reacted to a Deep Purple song because Ricie Blackmore played guitar for both.

Ronnie James Dio, was an American of Italian descent, was in two British bands, Rainbow and Black Sabbath, among the main ones and with his own solo band. You can react to these bands with Ronnie, he had very good performances, accompainied by great guitarists, Richie Blackmore (Rainbow) and Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath).

I had the good fortune to meet Ronnie James Dio after the show for the Holy Diver Tour and after the show for the Last In Line Tour, both times in Dallas, TX. He was exceedingly nice and spent a fairly good amount of time with each fan present, which was about 15-20 people that stood outside behind the Bronco Bowl Arena, patiently waiting for the chance to meet him. After the Last In Line show, Ronnie gave me one of the Tour jackets and signed it for me! A real salt of the Earth kind of guy, may he rest in peace!🎉❤

This is RJD a little past his prime, but he's still got it! The master of "sword and sorcery metal"! Dio began in the late fifties in a doo-wop group and also played trumpet.....into the sixties he slowly evolved into rock and had his own band, "Elf", into the seventies.....in 1975 he joined "Rainbow" with former "Deep Purple" guitarist Richie Blackmore......in 1979/'80 he replaced Ozzy Osborne in "Black Sabbath".....in 1983 he formed his own band "Dio" (I was lucky enough to see him/them on that tour).......this, of course, is a very condensed version of his career but you get the gist. Check out anything from the Black Sabbath "Heaven And Hell" album......there is a great version of the title track live here on UA-cam....or pretty much anything fro his group Dio from the albums "Holy Diver" or "The Last In Line"......live or otherwise!
This is older Dio. Watch younger Dio doing this same song live, or other songs from his live concert from the Philadelphia Spectrum in 1984 with his original guitarist Vivien Campbell, also found on youtube. Thanks for the reaction.
First of all, you two ladies are Cute as hell !! 😉 Ok Dio is awesome !! I have seen him twice in concert. The first time he was with Black Sabbath, they were touring the "The Mob Rules " album. The 2nd time I saw him, he was back on his own. Awesome shows ! Ronnie James Dio Rules !! RIP ! Great Reaction Stream ! Keep them coming !!💪🏼
He got his last from a mobster in his neighborhood his real name was Padavona . He was actually in a band called Vegas Kings a late 50s band before metal.
Truly a great vocalist thats well missed in the metal community also a wonderful person to talk to he used to take time to talk to the fans. May he R.I.P. RJD!!
NOTE: This is not a performance by "Ronnie James Dio", but by "Dio", as in the band. Dio was never a solo effort. This concert would be from around 2005, judging by the lineup. Guitarist Doug Aldrich is best known for his long tenure in Whitesnake 2003-2014, but has also played with many other notable acts, currently in highly popular retro rockers the Dead Daisies. Legendary bassist Rudy Sarzo was also in Whitesnake, during their most successful late 80s period. He was by that point already a star, being in the classic lineup of Quiet Riot as well as Ozzy Osbourne's band. He has since played with the likes of Yngwie Malmsteen. Keyboardist Scott Warren was one of Ronnie's most trusted sidekicks for the longest of times, and has also played with the likes of Warrant, Berlin (of "Take my breath away" fame) and Heaven And Hell - the latter being the latter day reunited Ronnie James Dio-fronted version of Black Sabbath, thus renamed since the Ozzy Obourne-fronted Black Sabbath were also active at the time. Drummer Simon Wright was another trusted ally of Ronnie's. In addition to being Dio's most frequent drummer from 1990 and onwards, he also played with the likes of AC/DC - who he actually left to join Dio! Kind of ... - and UFO. The original version of "Don't talk to strangers" featured on Dio's 1983 debut "Holy diver" - one of the esssential classics in heavy metal history. At the tine, the band consisted of Ronnie, guitarist Vivian Campbell (now in Def Leppard), bassist Jimmy Bain (formerly with Ronnie in Rainbow, and sadly succumbed to cancer in 2016) and drummer Vinny Appice (formerly with Ronnie in Black Sabbath). After the recording of said album, their classic lineup was completed with the addition of keyboardist Claude Schnell. Oh yeah - that quick cut-off in the end is because the song segued into another song, "Straight through the heart".
this is the godfather's last band heaven n hell, this 2005 concert ronnie was 62 and maybe already sick from the stomach cancer that robbed us of the legend in 2010, doug alford is the addonis you're liking a great guitarist formerly of whitesnake, checkout the holy diver or heaven n hell songs from this concert they're fire as well
9:00 for Lulu : Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell live 1980 Romnnie JUames Dio was the singer after Ozzy left Black Sabbath, Hise debut with the band made the best selling Black Sabbath album ever.
Stargazer by Rainbow, Ronni James Dio is the lead singer at the time, and it blows the minds of most trained vocalists on how amazing Dio is. Also The guitarist from Deep Purple is the guitar player for Rainbow. Its from the 70's and bookends Dio's (more famous) carear well.
Glad you liked it! I am a bit surprised you didn't recognize guitarist Doug Aldrich from the Whitesnake video (same outfit),lol. Yeah, the Ladies kinda went wild for him. A very skilled player. You guys make me laugh, your reactions are alot of fun. All the best! Tim
Absolutely one of the greatest rock vocalists of all time, his younger work is incredible. Try Stargazer by Rainbow with him on vocals. A tour de force of singing.
Now were talking, one of my all time favourite songs by RJD, saw him seven times live and once with Heaven and Hell, amazing powerful voice, and Gentleman of Rock, another great track Falling off The Edge of The World, but going down this rabbit hole is endless, The Sign of The Southern Cross,Die Young, Neon Nights, Children of the Grave, in fact anything of the Heaven and Hell and Holy Diver albums, We Rock, Last in Line, then you have got the band Rainbow, Stargazer, Kill the King, Gates of Babylon. Enjoy the Journey Ladies. 🤘😎💀🎸👊
This is awesome.. you guys are cool, Lullu is the coolest thought, she just invented a word that until now didn't exists.. Your videos are always the best in my opinion, thanks. :D
Ya, not the best version of this song. Bummer too, because at his peak, this song really rocked. I wish whoever requested this would have sent a real version. Oh well, good reaction. Thank you.
I enjoy your channel a great deal, I'm a retired army vet, that was a teen through the 70's, I enjoy your reaction to the classic rock genre, for obvious reasons, so keep up the awesome work...I must tell you that this version of this song is not his best work by far...there's another live version out there, that really show's his vocal acrobatics to a tee! Rock ON!!!
To lulu: Ronnie James Dio, began as a trumpet player around 1958. His groups after that, included ELF, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH, DIO, HEAVEN HELL. He passed in 2010, from cancer. And, yes, he was the person who started the metal horns gesture, inspired by his grandmother. NOT Gene Simmons.
Ronnie James Dio had been in two rock bands in '60's & '70's, Elf & Rainbow, before replacing Ozzie Osbourne in Black Sabbath in early '80's, and then went "solo", so he's one of the greats! Thanks!🤘
Ronnie said his Sicilian grandmother could put a curse on someone with "il cornuto" hand sign, and he used that to create the "devil horns" heavy metal sign: 🤘!
"Last in line" is great too 😊 Jorn's cover of e.g. Dio's "Perfect Strangers": ua-cam.com/video/5e6m0VbgSGc/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared ... is similar in music style but very unique I think. Jorn has made great heavy metal music in this genre 🤘😊👍
Excellent guitar work by Joel Hoekstra. Dio was in his band Elf and then picked by Ritchie Blackmore to sing for his band after leaving Deep Purple, Rainbow. Then put out multiple solo albums as well as a couple with Black Sabbath after Ozzy was kicked out. The song “Heaven and Hell” live by Black Sabbath is great. RJD has too many great songs then I can list! 😂 “Heaven and Hell” live by Black Sabbath ua-cam.com/video/uWAhd4KkVUU/v-deo.htmlsi=-5ELoIjcC-PiJEFB
First of all: I love your videos! But i did not believe, that you never heard about Dio??? He was and is a legend. In this video we saw an old and maybe already ill Ronnie James Dio and a band, that´s not the band, he had made the album with. Definitly still one of the best performances, but it was better in earlier times. But what am i talking: You love it and thats is the main thing! Thanks girls 😘
You should check out the original Dio band. Ronnie James Dio, Jimmy Bain, Viv Campbell, and Vinny Appice. Try the song Gypsy. Alternatively try Ronnie when he was in Rainbow with Stargazer, and when he was in Black Sabbath with, Falling off the end of the world.
You've never heard of Dio? I'm sure Donna knows his songs. As a singer he was in Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, and "Stargazer" with its beautiful story is particularly worth listening to. Then he was with Black Sabbath. I recommend a live version of "Heaven and Hell" and so many other very good songs by or with him. He was a master of songwriting. Unfortunately he died far too early... Rock in Peace. I love his singing. He is one of the few where you can actually understand every word. My personal favorite text of his is "Over and over", although very sad but incredibly intensely implemented together with Sabbath Master of Riffs. At the end of the song, Tony Iommi is no longer in our dimension... ua-cam.com/video/kEs2lDFBG0c/v-deo.html

this is the godfather's last band heaven n hell, this 2005 concert ronnie was 62 and maybe already sick from the stomach cancer that robbed us of the legend in 2010, doug alford is the addonis you're liking a great guitarist formerly of whitesnake, checkout the holy diver or heaven n hell songs from this concert they're fire as well
FYI it's Doug Aldrich, not Alford
@@fhare666 thanks i always f that up
R.I.P. Ronnie😥
The Last In Line should be the next reaction, one of my favorites from him.
YES,the great RJD. Rainbow,Black Sabbath and Dio. Rock in peace. Thanks ladys.💯❤️🤘💥🇮🇹
He stills playing guitar today 🎸
DIO WAS A FORMER BLACK SABBATH SINGER AS WELL AS RAINBOW VOCALIST...SO YEA HE'S A LEGEND IN ROCK
Tim
Seen Dio Holy Diver concert in the 80's..what a great show and his vocals are amazing!..Thank you for sharing, well done guys!
Glad you enjoyed it
@@KathyLuluandDonna Thank you, you guys are great, with your comments and all you do makes me laugh!
One of THE greatest rock vocalist ever ! One of his best songs RIP Ronnie. About paranoid schizophrenia which I can relate to.
You got me laughing again ladies😂. Go gettem gals!
One of the best metal singers ever. Definitely check out some live Dio from the 80's so you can hear his voice in his prime.
This is awesome.. you guys are cool, Lullu is the coolest thought, she just invented a word that until now didn't exists.. Your videos are always the best in my opinion, thanks. :D
You're the best!
Rock ON!!!
🤘 Thank you.
Probably my favorite Dio song ❤
The thing about Ronnie is his voice he was a small man . Was a great voice
Simplesmente *DIO*
Dio solo, his period in Rainbow and Black Sabbath and at the end in Heaven & Hell who was Black Sabbath without Ozzy Osbourne. RIP
Gene was simply using the sign language gesture of “I Love You” which includes the thumb.
And DEFINITELY HOPE Ya All Hear Live Version from 1983. Or 84... They are The BEST...
If you want more of the guitar player, please check out "Whitesnake - "Still of the Night" (Live 2004)" :-)
Seen several times live in concert good show he put on, good review by u guys yeah 👍😎🤘🥁🎤🎸🎸
Thanks!
If you want to hear Dio's vocal chops really shine, listen to the song Stargazer by Rainbow live!
HELL YEAH!!!!... check out Dio's voice on rainbow stargazer next, it will blow you guys away
That lead guitarist was Doug Aldridge who also played with whitesnake great reaction ladies but where's Donna anyways keep on rocking ladies 🤟
Dio in italian meaning "GOD". And his voice was godlike for sure!! Please react to more Dio in the future! 🤘🤩🤘
Great reaction ladies!
Thank you!! 😁
@@KathyLuluandDonna You're entirely welcome! Really enjoying your reactions!
Awesome pick 🤘
"Last in line" is great too 😊
Jorn's cover of e.g. Dio's "Perfect Strangers": ua-cam.com/video/5e6m0VbgSGc/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
... is similar in music style but very unique I think. Jorn has made great heavy metal music in this genre 🤘😊👍
Back in 1984, he and his band sounded like this: ua-cam.com/video/BhBfBW_vyGc/v-deo.html

the BOSS R.J .DIO
First of all: I love your videos! But i did not believe, that you never heard about Dio??? He was and is a legend. In this video we saw an old and maybe already ill Ronnie James Dio and a band, that´s not the band, he had made the album with. Definitly still one of the best performances, but it was better in earlier times. But what am i talking: You love it and thats is the main thing! Thanks girls 😘
Ronnie could have sung the telephonebook of Texakarna and I would have listened...
🤘😂💖
This is only Live from later days... Listen the original song...
Great band, as well. Looks Doug, Vinnie, Jimmy, Claude. Maybe.
Blind Guardian did a great cover of this song.
I wonder what the reactons would be if i said " Did you see the abs on shakira, glistening in sweat...oh oh oh" .....
If you’re not moving to this…check your pulse
Doug Aldrich on guitar is great!!
BLACK SABBATH HEAVEN AND HELL LIVE!
Heaven and hell from his days with Black Sabbath is a great choice
