Noddy Holder is such a lovely bloke ,absolutely no ‘rockstar’ airs and graces.During the late 70’s the band I was in supported Slade at a British university summer ball.our dressing rooms were adjacent and after we had performed Noddy came into ours and introduced himself ( as if we didn’t know who he was !) complimented us on our performance and invited us all to their dressing room for a drink .We imagined bottles of spirits on every surface , scantily clad women ..no ,in his thick Brummie accent “How do you like yer tea lads ? “ …they were all having a brew ! So friendly and down to earth ,treated us like equals and gave us a memory to cherish
Slade were great....this was kids music! We were lucky to be kids back then.....really lucky, the music literally rocked....and if you rocked you were cool!!@ ........check out " Mama we're all crazy now".....actually it's a good rabbit hole to dive into!!@
For some reason Slade never really caught on in the U.S. Maybe it was because of their wacky, over the top and irreverent attitude at a time when U.S. groups were more serious/earnest.
Slade were the biggest band in Europe in the 70s glam era. They have a wealth of music for you to listen to. Try " Skweeze me please me" or " Run run away"
Slade were huge from 1971-74 in the UK their back catalogue is huge.a brilliant live band every Christmas in UK merry Christmas every one enters the charts it earns noddy and Jimmy lea £5OO,OOO a year in royalties noddy calls it his retirement fund even though he's 78 now.
Slade are from my home town, and have the most amazing back catalogue of songs. Noddy Holger, the singer, has the most underrated voice in rock and roll history, Christmas is coming, make sure you check out 'Merry Xmas Everybody',it's a classic.
This was my band growing up and this was the first record I ever bought. Noddy Holder had one of the best rock voices ever and was asked to audition for AC/DC when Bon Scott died but he turned it down out of loyalty to his own band. Gene Simmons said that Slade were one of the biggest influences for Kiss. This is actually a cover of an older song but Slade does the best version. Try Gudbuy T' Jane, Mama Weer All Crazee Now, The Bangin Man, Merry Xmas Everybody, How Does It Feel, Them Kinda Monkees Can't Swing, Cum On Feel The Noize, Thanks For The Memories, How Can It Be, Standin On The Corner, Run Run Away, We'll Bring The House Down and so many others.
You should check out the live version, filmed in front of an audience of mainly teeny-bopper girls for a TV show. This is actually a cover of a song made famous by Little Richard. They finished almost every show with this song. They were hugely successful everywhere in the World except America. If you remember Quiet Riot doing Cum On Feel The Noize and Mama Weer All Crazee Now, they were Slade songs written by bassist Jim Lea and singer/guitarist Neville "Noddy" Holder. Slade were one of the best live bands around. Every show was a party.
Slade were one of the best bands I ever saw live. Noddy as a frontman was captivating and brilliant. He had a great personality and could work a crowd even at festivals where not everyone was there to see them. In fact on the day they played Monsters Of Rock festival they stole the day for most folk (AC/DC headlined and other bands included Whitesnake and Blue Oyster Cult). The interaction of Noddy and the guys with 60,000 wet and muddy people was outstanding. Guitarist Dave Hill was known for wearing some outrageously over the top outfits (glam gear). Apparently he often didn't tell the band what he was planning to wear and they would go "you must be joking"😀. Dave would tell the rest of the band about the songs "you write them, and I'll sell them"😂 The drummer Don Powell was in a car crash at one point (he ended up in a coma for a while) but the band waited on his recovery to get out and about again. Don had memory issues and often had to be given a reminder of the beat before they hit a song to allow him to get to the rest of it! One other little thing about them is their song title's spellings were often hilarious. The band come from an area in England known as the "black country" which has quite a thick accent so they wrote the titles phonetically as it was written as it sounded as they said them! If I may recommend a song to you called "My Oh My" as it is one of the most brilliant and emotive ballads I have ever heard. I will share the link, even just for your own enjoyment (you don't need to react if you haven't time). Have a great day. ua-cam.com/video/AlwA5GLBmJM/v-deo.html
In the late sixties noddy drove Robert plant to gigs before he joined led zeppelin in his dad's window cleaning van according to his autobiography his dad was a good singer and noddy(his real names neville) sang for the first time on stage when he was five years old in working men's clubs in walsall.
Yes, this is my part of the UK, I proud to call the lead singer Noddy my home town hero, Slade is so underrated, thank you for doing more reactions on this great band
Great to see you enjoyed Slade. A very popular band in Britain, who did not really make it in America. Treat yourselves at Christmas and listen to their popular Christmas hit "Merry Xmas Everybody".
I saw Slade in concert in the early 70's as a young teenager and WOW the memories have stayed with me, they were awesome and were one of my fave bands in my teens. There is a huge Slade rabbit hole to dive into, enjoy Ladies :)
Back in the day I lived in a "hippy house" with 5 other people. We had an 8 track tape player and only 2 tapes. Ones was Carol Kings "Tapestry" (a great album itself) and "Slade Live". 8 track tape players played tapes on a loop over and over and over again until somebody shuts it off. To this day I still never tire of hearing either of these artists. Thanks for the memory!
Slade is just a fun fun band... i was too young when they came out... but they are credited with influencing a LOT of 80s hair rock and party music... Thin Lizzy is same fun catchy... your deep V is coming in a day or two from my 3 generation appealing video coming up... might wanna cover up Lu Lus eyes just a few times.... but she will love the great hair and funny story.
Glad that you enjoyed this one ladies. Slade, T - Rex, Sweet, were three of the biggest bands of the "Glam Rock" era. I feel that you could play any of Slade's hit records and the urge to get up and boogie would just overwhelm you. Great stuff to be sure!
Slade have a massive catalogue of songs that you will enjoy. They also recorded the best ever Christmas song 'Merry Xmas Everybody' definitely check it out next month you'll love it 🇬🇧
When at Uni over 50 years ago we had a party tape with that on. Played it at a party on a 2nd floor apartment and the 'stamp your feet part' dislodged the all plaster from the ceiling below!
This is a great song, you can’t help but move to it 😂 Slade made the best Xmas song of all time called Merry Xmas Everybody. With Xmas approaching you should maybe react to it. Another favourite of mine by Slade is All Join hands.
Noddy Holder from The Black Country, the town of Walsall, in an area called Caldmore (pronounced Karma - don’t ask me why) - one of the great rock voices in this energising feelgood band formed in Wolverhampton with a string of hits as long as your arm.

Slade, a great memory. They are among the really big ones. This is handmade rock at its best and they were great live on stage. The band is still performing, unfortunately none of the original line-up is with us anymore.
@@jeff-p8l I was at a Slade concert this year and none of the original line-up was on stage, that's what I meant. Sorry, I expressed myself incorrectly
Slade also made one of the best Christmas songs EVER! Now that the festive season is fast approaching I thought you ladies might like to listen to it. Every Christmas this song goes into the charts and with good reason. So, this is the link to Slade, Merry Christmas Everybody. You may have heard Merry Christmas Everyone by Slade, but dont realise it. It's part of the UK Christmas celebrations. I saw Slade live in the early 1980s, they were fab.
Hi ladies. I just wanted to drop a couple of suggestions from Slade. "Lock up your daughters", and "Rock and roll preacher" are both great songs. Also "My oh my" is a good song.
Other Slade to watch: “Cum On Feel the Noize” (you’ve already watched the Quiet Riot version), “Mama Weer All Crazee Now”, “Gudbuy T’Jane”, “Run Runaway”, and with Christmas coming up, “Merry Xmas Everybody”

I am sure you will have heard one or two Slade songs "Cum on feel the Noise, Girls grab your boys" and "Are you hanging up your stocking on the wall..............." 🙂
This song was originally sung by an American R&B singer called Bobby Marchan in 1964 . I believe that it was the b side to a single that he had out at the time called Half a Mind .
Yeah, Noddy Holder can sang. Y'all reacted to "Cum On Feel The Noize" by Quiet Riot four weeks ago. Quiet Riot was doing a cover of that song. It was originally done by Slade. RIP Randy Rhodes.
New sub ,loved your reactions to Slade , i was lucky enough to see them live in the 70s hopefully you will react to more of their hits , if you havnt already reacted to the Group Sweet singing Blockbuster or Ballroom Blitz 2 of their biggest hits from the 70s i would love to see your reaction to them who i also saw live.

Slade sing Britains favourite Christmas song, worth a listen.

Slade had more UK no 1 records in shorter time than The Beatles. Had all their singles.
SLADE was an awesome British rock band. They are all in their 70s now and retired. Take care
Great band from the Black Country, in the middle of England.
