Dio was the band launched by veteran singer Ronnie James Dio in 1983... and yes, he popularized the "🤘" devil's horns (He said it was a Catholic superstition of the "evil eye" which his old grandmother from Italy would often flash) Born Ronald James Padavona, he was raised Catholic in New York state... his antagonism towards religion would have him change his name to "Dio" ('God' in latin) in the late 1950's when he first became a singer. Ronnie Dio spent the 1960's singing covers of do-wop songs as Ronnie Dio & The Prophets (and other acts)... He formed a rock band that became Elf in 1971 after hearing the new 'heavy' rock from Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath... Elf opened for Deep Purple numerous times. In 1975, Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore left the band and formed Rainbow, hiring Ronnie James Dio as the first singer and making him a star for the first time... Ronnie was fired in 1979 after Blackmore wanted a more pop-rock sound. In 1980, Ronnie replaced Ozzy Osbourne as the singer of Black Sabbath, until 1982... a dispute led to him leaving the band. In 1983, Ronnie James Dio opted to name his new band Dio (it was more for name recognition, rather than ego... he claimed) and released their platinum-selling debut album 'Holy Diver'... the original band featured guitarist Vivian Campbell (now in Def Leppard)... (the late) Jimmy Bain on bass... Vinny Appice on drums (who played w/ Ronnie in Black Sabbath)... and Claude Schnell (keyboards)... but a dispute w/ Campbell led to the guitarist leaving in 1985 after 3 albums... This tour in 1986 was done w/ Craig Goldy on guitar. Dio (the band) would go through quite a few line-ups w/ Ronnie being the only original member... He reconciled w/ the members of Black Sabbath in 1992, only to leave the band again in 1993... and again in 2006 (Sabbath w/ Dio called themselves Heaven & Hell) ... while Dio would record and tour for 3 decades. Sadly, Ronnie James Dio was diagnosed w/ stomach cancer in 2009, and he passed away in 2010 (R.I.P.)

They actually might be. Because Ronnie comes from an Italian American family.
Oh that makes sense! 😊
Please ck out RAINBOWS, STARGAZER (DIO)
I'll second this. The album is Rainbow Rising, the song is Stargazer, and it's probably one of the best five metal songs of all time.
A7X live LBC again
Thank you very much for the suggestion. More A7X is coming soon 😊

Hate to say... The Beatles did the hand sign on the cover of yellow submarine album... Yes. Before DIO. AND YES. Before Gene Simmons Of KISS....
