STACEY hold on, ur cats name is DIO and going into this reaction u had no idea the singer of Rainbow was the great Ronnie James DIO?? Thats a crazy coincidence
Ronnie James Dio is just simply the greatest heavy metal singer ever. That voice is effortless and he sounded like that til he was in his sixties. Endless power... Total legend. Also, my Dad who's no longer here, was fortunate enough to meet him twice and yes I do have the photo saved with me, Dio was basically one of the nicest and kindest people you would ever meet. He would always remember all the fans name and even the names of the persons family. Shows you how he cared for his fans deeply. May his legacy live on for eternity.
i couldn't agree more that Ronnie James Dio was the best metal singer that ever lived. There will be no one ever who can be compared to him. Never ever!
That is Ronnie James Dio who has fronted several bands and it is Ritchie Blackmore on lead guitar. The official name of the band is Blackmore's Rainbow. He formed the band after his days with Deep Purple.
Rainbow was the solo band formed in 1975 by Ritchie Blackmore (guitar) after he quit his iconic band Deep Purple... The brilliant guitarist was eccentric and unpredictable, so he went through quite a few members from 1975 to 1984. In 1975, Blackmore decided to start a new band from scratch and hired the band Elf (who had opened for Deep Purple on tour) to record Rainbow's debut album "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow"... However, Elf vocalist Ronnie James Dio was the only member retained for the 2nd album 'Rising' in 1976 as Rainbow began touring... It was followed by a 3rd studio album "Long live rock n roll" in 1978 and live album 'On Stage'. In 1979, Ritchie Blackmore wanted Rainbow to pursue a pop rock-oriented direction but singer Ronnie James Dio refused and was subsequently fired... Graham Bonnet (vocals) did the 4th album 'Down to Earth'... but did not last as a member of Rainbow. In 1981, vocalist Joe Lynn Turner joined Rainbow and their pop direction yielded their biggest albums - 'Difficult to cure' (1981)... 'Straight between the eyes' (1982) and 'Bent out of shape' (1983) w/ the hit singles - 'Street of dreams'... "Can't let you go" ... "Stone cold'... 'I surrender'... In 1984, Ritchie Blackmore disbanded Rainbow to reform the classic Deep Purple line-up. But in 1993, a frustrated Ritchie Blackmore quit Deep Purple for the last time... he resurrected Rainbow w/ new vocalist Doogie White and released Rainbow's last album 'Stranger in us all'...in 1995, before disbanding Rainbow. Blackmore had since spent years recording and promoting the semi-acoustic duo Blackmore's Night since 1997... w/ his wife, singer Candace Night.
Cozy Powell, the drummer, died in a car wreck in 1998 going 104 miles per hour. He was on the phone with his girlfriend and the last thing she heard him say was "Oh shit!"
You need to hear the track that follows this on the album, Rainbow Rising, a song called A Light In The Black. Its flubbing brilliant. Richie Blackmore and Tony Kaye are the only ones still left alive, Jimmy Bain, Ronnie Dio and Cozy Powell are all long gone from this world. This, in my mind was Rainbows best iteration and was Blackmore's creative high point. This solo in particular is just legendary and for good reason too.
GREAT reaction Stacey!! I had to turn the video back...your cat is named Dio?!?! He came to say hi to....DIO?!!! Well isn't that a coincididink!! Your cat must have felt the gravitational pull, cosmic alignment to one of THE greatest rock/metal singers of all time - the demonic elf himself, Ronnie James Dio (RIP)! The voice you're hearing is epic personified. His control, power...all of it, are on display here. Add to that the brilliant guitar wizardry of Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple, insane drumming of Cozy Powell, Tony Carey on keys & Jimmy Bain on bass - and you have this monster of a metal band! More? Yes please!! Man On The Silver Mountain, Gates Of Babylon, Rainbow Eyes, Tarot Woman, A Light In The Black, Street of Dreams...all are essential! Some of these have different vocalists. Cheers!!
Dio needs to be in more Top 5 lists. Saw him with Rainbow and Sabbath. Dio with Sabbath - Children Of The Sea. NOTE: Dio was estimated to be 5'2" or 5' 3". He stage presence was massive and he commanded the audiences.
Dio: Dont talk to strangers live is amazing and clip of The last in line is icônic. Hi Stacey! Pleaaasseee a react CLIP : FOR THE LOVE OF GOD guitarrist STEVE VAI! Is The best solo ever like Gilmour. Hugs From Brasil 🇧🇷
A milestone in symphonic metal, and I was there... 15 years old 1977 .. Mindblowing and a prime inspiration for Nightwish, Epica and others in the genre today
Blackmore's ending solo guitar piece where it goes up and slides down mirrors the following lyrics where the wizard climbs to the top of the tower and falls down. Pure genius.
I highly recommend Rainbow's "Mistreated" the Live from Munich '77 version to really hear Ronnie's range; such a great vocalist. Thanks for the video and welcome to your journey!
Yes, Ronnie James Dio was an amazing singer. He fronted several bands throughout the years including Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Elf, Dio and Heaven And Hell. Some of his songs I would suggest to you are: Rainbow- Mistreated (live), Rainbow- Kill The King, Black Sabbath- Children Of The Sea, Black Sabbath- Heaven And Hell (live), Dio- Last In Line (live), Dio- Holy Diver, Dio- Rainbow In The Dark. So many others as well, but this is a great place to start. Enjoy!
Guitarist is a founding member of Deep Purple. When he left the band in 1975, he took Dio out of the shadow and put him out there. Dio, 3 years later went on to replace Ozzy to front Black Sabbath. 2 of the 3 bands that are cited as part of the unholy trinity bands what would eventually become Metal. Dio is also the guy that is the origin of the devil hand sign that is so popular today. Knowing you like Pink Floyd, another Rainbow song you will LOVE is Catch the Rainbow. Someone mentionned Uriah Heep. It's a band that wont generate much click but I feel it's right up your alley with song like Tales, The Wizard and Salisbury.
Ronnie James Dio, one of the top 5 rock voices ever, sadly no longer with us. He went solo using his surname DIO, amazing tracks there to aswell as Rainbow Please play more ❤🎸
Best follow up would be "Gates of Babylon" for the same flavor of fantasy epicness. Studio first with Ronnie just to catch all the vocal nuances before moving on to live.
The thunderous Cozy Powell (ex Big Bertha, Black Sabbath, Michael Schenker Group, Whitesnake and others) on drums, the incomparable Ritchie Blackmore (ex-Deep Purple) on guitar and the famous Ronnie James Dio on vocals, with my second favourite song of all-time. The sound is the studio version (from 1976's "Rainbow Rising"), footage is from a TV recording in Munich or Stuttgart, Germany, in 1977. Very nice reaction, thank you.
Wow…. My favorite female reactor, reacting to my favorite male singer, which is my favorite all-time music track !!! 🥰 it doesn’t get any better than this 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼 Thank you Bill !!! You are the man !!!! ……on the Silver Mountain 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Stargazer is my favorite song of all time, and Dio is my favorite singer, absolute banger. If you want to see them live, check out "Mistreated" from the live in Munich 1977 show, it's incredible.
I see a Rainbow Rising forever :) Thank you for your reaction you can't go wrong with Rainbow or Deep Purple. You need to do Catch the rainbow live same band to listen to Dio's bluesy voice wrap you up like a soft blanket. lots of love from Greece stay healthy and safe. (ps. RJD was one of the best if not the best rock frontman, you can listen to Black Sabbath with Dio you can listen to Rainbow with Dio you can listen to Dio solo he is unsurpassed and he is missed RIP. )🌈🌈🌈🌈
Ronnie James Dio, the greatest metal singer (and one of the best singers) of all time. Ritchie Blackmore, one of the founders of the legendary Deep Purple and one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Together they basically created the sub-genre of neo classical metal, with classically influenced music and fantasy themed lyrics. The world was changed forever.
One of the best guitar solos ever. He seemed to keep in those high keys, sounding very Arabic. Never heard a solo like this. This was in 77-76 I believe.
RIP Ronnie Jame Dio! Stacy, please, please, please do a review of Dio fronting the band Black Sabbath after Ozzy left the band (got kicked out actually). Anything off the release Heaven And Hell (but "Lost Children of the Sea" would be epic).
The album Rising is one of my absolute favorites. Rainbow was a project by Deep Purple guitarist Richie Blackmore, which you can hear in many of the tracks. What excites me about this piece is the work of drummer Cozy Powell. Real, hard work. Thank you for this Song❤
Great pick Bill 👍. RIP Ronnie James Dio (yes Dio your cat knew lol) His voice was huuuuuuggge it was amazing to see this tiny body created this massive sound. He was truly one of the best frontmen in hard rock/metal. He fronted Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio and Heaven and Hell. 🤘Dio🤘is arguably the person to bring🤘 to popularity,
You have just experienced the master Ronnie James Dio on vocals, he was a fantastic live artist as well, so you really should experience him that way as well since it really was his element. There is a great live video from Munich in 1977 with Rainbow if you want to start there and then you can watch him in Black Sabbath from 1980 with the classic song "Heaven and hell" and of course with his own band Dio and especially the live videos from the 80´s. Dio never had any vocal training which is mindblowing since he is by many and certainly me considered the greatest metal singer of all time, i guess he was a natural. What is also mindblowing is that he apparently only reluctantly took the position as singer in the band when they had no one else back in the early days in the 1950´s, he also played bass for many years in the band he was in but stopped doing that in the early 70´s, so this was before Rainbow.
i get tears of joy in my eyes everytime i hear Dio singing live. Especially when he was with Rainbow. Dio is the best that ever lived. It is like he was an angel that visited earth for a short while. He was like a god walking amongst men.
Seen and met him as Dio. Great singer! Small in height but what a voice. He stood about 5'2" tall. Very well in tune with his audience. Just a really nice guy. To become the lead singer of black Sabbath just tells his story of being a great singer/ musician!
Ronnie James Dio, the voice of metal, I was lucky to see him and hear him live twice, in 1982 with Black Sabbath then when he came back with his Sabbath colleagues in 2007. Didn't see this lineup of Rainbow, but saw the great guitarist Ritchie Blackmore in a later Rainbow.
Beyond Beautiful you are this band Rainbow is great band Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple Ronnie James Dio RIP vocals you're going to freak his voice phenomenal
This band was founded by guitarist Richie Blackmore after leaving Deep Purple. Singer Dio is one of the best voices in rock, if not the best. He also sang on Black Sabbath.
1975. I bought the album when it came out. Still love it and it really shows that Ronnie James Dio is one of the greatest singers in history. Thanks for the reaction!
So happy you found Rainbow, another band descended directly from the Gods of Rock. Ritchie Blackmore (Guitar) and Ronnie James Dio (Vocals) are unparalleled at their respective crafts. And this iteration had the masterful Cozy Powell on drums as well. Tony Carey (Keys) and Jimmy Bain (Bass) were also outstanding. As you already noticed 2 minutes into the song: Dio has one of the best rock voices ever. Ritchie Blackmore and David Gilmour are my two favorite guitar players, with obviously different styles. Next Rainbow, I strongly recommend doing the live version of "Catch the Rainbow" from Rainbow on Stage - it is a mind-blowing live performance by Dio and a wonderful dynamic guitar performance by Blackmore. Please try it!
Stacy, the bassist is a guy by the name of Jimmy Bain and may possibly be the most underestimated bassist in the U.S. After leaving Rainbow Ronnie James Dio (the lead vocalist) joined Black Sabbath replacing Ozzy Osbourne and a few years later went solo bringing Jimmy with him. They were an amazing songwriting team. Ronnie eventually rejoined Sabbath and then rejoined the former Sabbath members to form a new band called Heaven and Hell named after their first Black Sabbath album together back in the day. As for Rainbow, it's an ever-evolving band involving the former members of Deep Purple along with other legendary and up and coming musicians. Ronnie James Dio was the first then came Graham Bonnett (lead vocalist of Alcatrazz), Joe Lynn Turner (the most recognized lead vocalist Rainbow has had next to Dio) and a few others. They were still active and touring up until the pandemic began but haven't been heard from since. Hopefully we hear about a new album sometime in the near future but no one knows.
Wow, I don't think I have heard of the band or the song before, but it was a ton of fun. I definitely hear the hard rock/metal vibes and it reminded me of like a video game boss fight, or like an epic cutscene action sequence type of thing. Really enjoyed your reaction and thank you for bringing it to my attention!
Ronnie James Dio RIP has had an incredible music career in rock from his Black Sabbath and Rainbow days to his solo carreer. You should check out “the last in line”, “holy diver”, or “rainbow in the dark”! Brilliant work…I was lucky enough to see him with Black Sabbath and Dio.
Did you say your cat was called Dio? Did you realise this was actually Ronnie James Dio singing? (R.I.P.) He was just a legend in the rock world. He was one of those rare singers who never needed to warm his vocals up, and could just go into songs with this same level of control. After guitarist Ritchie Blackmore left Deep Purple, he founded the band Rainbow with Dio as the original lead singer. When Dio left Rainbow, he replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath. My favourite song is Children Of The Sea, which is epic, but also, you must listen to Heaven And Hell as well.
Ronnie James Dio is the singer He was also in Black Sabbath and his solo band, Dio. Richie Blackmore is the guitarist and was a founding member of Deep Purple.
I bought this album when I saw it in a record shop and loved the cover. Had no idea who Rainbow were but discovered that it's an absolutely cracking album with some great tracks.
Ronnie James Dio is by far the greatest metal vocalist in history. His voice will never be mistaken for anyone else. Children of the Sea is a masterpiece
One of my favorite songs ever! Awesome playing by the band, and that guitarsolo by Mr. Blackmore... Cozy´s drums!! All under the magic voice of Ronnie - for sure the best of them all, ever! 😍RIP Master Thanks Stacy! 🙂
Ronnie remains the best with his incredible voice! and his legendary voice tone as well as blackmore a master of the Stratocaster guitar 😉👍🎸 "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll"
Dio was a vocal god pure and simple. I think, just my opinion, that because he was originally a horn player that gave him an edge singing. The breath control and being able to pull from deep in the body to attain and maintain vocal tones. He is also quite possibly the originator of the "Horns" hand signal for metal and rock even though Gene Simmons tries to say it was him. One of the greatest front men ever no matter if it was Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath or Dio. Blackmore can definitely shred a guitar but he was a jerk to the fans. I really can't speak to the other band members except for this crew was a pure power house. Again, my dad introduced me to Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, the first album. And the second, Rising. After that, I was buying my own music as I was no longer in my early teens. Dad was in the Navy and always brought home excellent stereo equipment from West Pac so he would bring the vinyl home and we would sit in the living room and play them all the way through. Great times with Dad!
Really like Rainbow!!! 🤘🤘🤘 Singer Ronnie James Dio and Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore on Guitar. The singer changed during the 70s and early 80s. 1979 it was Graham Bonnet and 1981 another one. Stacey, you should react to more Rainbow stuff! 🤘
Another great reaction Stace))).. I hopefully can help you out on your musical journey by suggesting a few songs by Rainbow))...This first song was off their debut album which came out in 1975, I was 11 years old...Rainbow formed right after Deep Purple broke up. But anyway, here you go))) 1: Rainbow - Man On The Silver Mountain (From "Live In Munich 1977).. 2: Rainbow - Long Live Rock N Roll (From "Live In Munich 1977").... 3: Rainbow - Gates Of Babylon.....I hope you enjoy your Rainbow journey)))
18:56 5 minutes ago she went oh, I have no ocabulary to put in words how I like it.." ..she just rambles on nonetheless explaining how she likes it... hahahaha kisses and hugs Stacy, You rock !!!!!! What an awesome, pure reaction, Ronnie Jmaes DIO
STACEY hold on, ur cats name is DIO and going into this reaction u had no idea the singer of Rainbow was the great Ronnie James DIO?? Thats a crazy coincidence
My thought exactly
The cat is Ronnie James Dio reincarnated and he wants to listen to his masterpiece.
To my amazement as well.😊❤
My bet is she's an anime fan and named the cat after the highly-memed Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure character ... deservingly if that's the case..
Yeah, thats crazy, i immediately reacted to that of course.
SHES CORRECT! Ronnie James Dio one of the best voices ever!
🤘🤘
Absolutely nobody had ‘cat named Dio’ on their BINGO card
Ronnie James Dio is just simply the greatest heavy metal singer ever. That voice is effortless and he sounded like that til he was in his sixties. Endless power... Total legend.
Also, my Dad who's no longer here, was fortunate enough to meet him twice and yes I do have the photo saved with me, Dio was basically one of the nicest and kindest people you would ever meet. He would always remember all the fans name and even the names of the persons family. Shows you how he cared for his fans deeply. May his legacy live on for eternity.
Amen
На мой взгляд Ронни Джеймс ДИО величайший голос Хард энд хэви музыки!!! Он был небольшого роста, но был Гигантом вокала. Ронни Вечная тебе память!!!
i couldn't agree more that Ronnie James Dio was the best metal singer that ever lived. There will be no one ever who can be compared to him. Never ever!
Never heard anyone say a bad word about RJD., personally or professionally.
Next reaction should be: Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell - with Ronnie James Dio on vocals.
or the last song on that album "Lost Children of the Sea"....either would be epic!
Start with the studio version
YES but do it live at Wakken 2009, the very best version of that legendary song!
No, I'm going to hell with all of YOU!
Radio city music hall
One of the best voices ever. We miss you Ronnie \,,/
That is Ronnie James Dio who has fronted several bands and it is Ritchie Blackmore on lead guitar. The official name of the band is Blackmore's Rainbow. He formed the band after his days with Deep Purple.
Dio is coming to say hi to Dio.
Rainbow - Catch the Rainbow

I saw Dio in Elf, open for Deep Purple, then saw him several times in Rainbow, she does need to hear him live.
Tha k you so much for this Blackmore history.
Blackmore's Night had made very beautiful tunes.
DIO - Holy Diver
Or don't talk to strangers!
Cozy Powell, the drummer, died in a car wreck in 1998 going 104 miles per hour. He was on the phone with his girlfriend and the last thing she heard him say was "Oh shit!"
Yes RIP Cozy. You are my idol
Miss him
His formal name is “Cozy Fucking Powell” ❤️
Saab 9000.... unfortunatly.
You need to hear the track that follows this on the album, Rainbow Rising, a song called A Light In The Black. Its flubbing brilliant. Tony Carey on Keyboards... Who also was in Planet P. afterwards..🤓 Tony Kaye played in Yes and Badfinger..🤔
Your cat is also called Dio? That's great!
RIP Ronnie James Dio. One of the best voices of rock&roll, Stacey. Thanks for reacting to. You're correct on your comments
Great reaction! More Dio, "Heaven and Hell", "Rainbow in the Dark", "Man on the Silver Mountain"
The last in line is the best
Holy Diver 😊.
Light in the Black...the companion song to this one.... It's EPIC!
The entire Rainbow "Rising" album is a masterpiece. When you get a chance, listen to it from start to finish.

Nunca é tarde para conhecer Dio!!
Rainbow, Black Sabbath ou na carreira solo, sempre será um dos maiores de todos os tempos!! 🤩
One of the most famous and popular hard rock songs of all time. Dio, Blackmore and Powel such an incredible trio.
Dio needs to be in more Top 5 lists. Saw him with Rainbow and Sabbath. Dio with Sabbath - Children Of The Sea. NOTE: Dio was estimated to be 5'2" or 5' 3". He stage presence was massive and he commanded the audiences.
He was better with other bands.
His DIO work doesn't even compare
He was 5'4"
Dio: Dont talk to strangers live is amazing and clip of The last in line is icônic.

One of the greatest voices of rock...Ronnie James Dio. R.I.P. Brother...!
Wow this takes me back, Rainbow was the first concert I went to in November 1976.
Dio was just the best rock singer ther was. Period. And he lived through times of many many great rock singers, still able to shine trough
Dio was the greatest singer, lyrist and songwriter of my generation. I saw this tour. He was in many band in his 52 year recording career.
I have always been particularly fascinated by Ronnies voice! ❤
One of the best guitar solos ever. He seemed to keep in those high keys, sounding very Arabic. Never heard a solo like this. This was in 77-76 I believe.

and the most epic fadeout of all time 😄
When I heard this song in -76, it changed my music taste for ever.

My top rock/heavy metal song of all time. I’m not massively into classic rock or metal but this song hits every mark for me.
This band was founded by guitarist Richie Blackmore after leaving Deep Purple. Singer Dio is one of the best voices in rock, if not the best. He also sang on Black Sabbath.
The live version of Rainbow you need to hear is Mistreated! That's the one for you.
Back in the day, Ronnie got my full attention singing "Man on the Silver Mountain". On this song, Ronnie became a god.
great performance. A decade in which so many creative artists have set standards. Dio is a legend in his own right and a Richie Blackmore in his prime
You say your ready to “fight a dragon”. Yup, your ready to dive down the Ronnie James Dio rabbit hole.
1975. I bought the album when it came out. Still love it and it really shows that Ronnie James Dio is one of the greatest singers in history. Thanks for the reaction!
Richie Blackmore's Rainbow and David Coverdale's Whitesnake were once part of the group called: Deep Purple.
Imagine if Ritchy and Dio could've mended fences.. We could've got a show of this live with full orchestra. Dio lives
Sadly!, i'm old enough to remember when this was first released - it was a banger then & a banger today!
got goosebumps the first time i heard this when it came out in the 70s still do
Fantastic song. Thanks for reacting Stacey!
He was just a legend in the rock world.
Ronnie James Dio is the singer
He was also in Black Sabbath and his solo band, Dio.
Dio was one of the greats, amazed you don't know of him. This particular album ("Rising") is nothing but a collection of gems. All worth checking out.
One of my favorite songs ever! Awesome playing by the band, and that guitarsolo by Mr. Blackmore... Cozy´s drums!!
All under the magic voice of Ronnie - for sure the best of them all, ever! 😍RIP Master
Thanks Stacy! 🙂
Loved Ronnie so much from way back in the day! RIP!
R.I.P. Ronnie, we miss you so much! 🤘Thank you, Stacey!
If you want to see Dio sing live with Rainbow you have to watch Mistreated live in Munich. It's incredible.
Gates of Babylon, from Long Live Rock and Roll.
Ronnie remains the best with his incredible voice! and his legendary voice tone as well as blackmore a master of the Stratocaster guitar 😉👍🎸 "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll"
Dio? The cats name is Dio??? You gotta be kidding me! Serendipity baby!
DIO was awesome
One of the best Singers ever. But sorry Stacy Ronnie is going behind the Rainbow😢😢😢Rip in Peace🌟🌟🌟😢😢😢
1:40 dio knew what was coming, Dio ( Ronnie James Dio ) is the singer of the band ;)
Our lord Ronnie. One of THE voices of metal for decades. Sadly missed.
Singer Ronnie James Dio and Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore on Guitar. The singer changed during the 70s and early 80s. 1979 it was Graham Bonnet and 1981 another one. Stacey, you should react to more Rainbow stuff! 🤘
it was likely Joe Lynn Turner.
