Love this Bond movie! One of the coolest bond cars. "Glad I insisted you brought this cello" My favourite line in the movie after he argued about taking it.
Dalton made the best Bond films. His first was a great international espionage movie, his second an in-depth character study breaking away from the two dimension mold. Sadly, people back then still wanted their secret underwater bases and satellite death rays, so he was turfed and Brosnan stepped into the role (albeit, Goldeneye was awesome too).
LordDyhalto That's not strictly true, Dalton was going to be in a third bond movie but the production money dried up and arguments over this and that so it was delayed. The money didn't come back until 1994-1995 and by then Dalton wasn't interested anymore.
Yeah I would also add that by the time pierce stepped into the role and took inspiration from both Connery and Moore with a sprinkle of Dalton public opinion warmed to a darker harder edged bond so he had a better reception then Dalton did, Dalton was to early if anything, he was ahead of the Kerb and people weren’t ready for it.
Victor Hall fans who didn’t read the books and that were fans of the movies at the time didn’t necessarily like Dalton and his serious tones as Bond and his films as they were used to Roger Moore after his 7 films in 12 years with his lighthearted take on the role. People have grown to like Dalton more in recent years including critics. Lazenby was not a fan favorite either at the time as they were used to Connery and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service was a box office failure at the time was released in 1969 but he has received a following in more recent years as well and his movie has been more regarded as one of the best in the series
+JohnRooney Gaming Honestly, based on looks I'd say the BMW Z3 or Z8 were the best looking, but they didn't have the prestige or the popularity of the Aston Martins. By extension, it's like saying the Bugatti Veyron is the most beautiful car ever made, when actually it's pretty hideous, but also an automotive work of art.
There are a number of reasons Timothy did not do the third Bond. One being after so long of a break between Licence To Kill and the next one, they wanted Tim to do a lot more, which Tim did not. So they though it was a good time to usher in a new actor for the role. Its a shame the legal battle came about as I seen what was planned and looks like it could have been the best yet. I realty loved Tim's portrayal of Bond.
+Garrett Dark Actually he was doing a third Bond in 1991, Property of a lady. Pre production began in late 1990 but it was halted to due to legal battles between MGM and UA that began when Harry Saltzman departed in the 1970's.
+STEFAZON500 Yes I've read that as well. The Property of the Lady was also a title of Ian Fleming short Bond story that was included in an edition of a book that included The Living Daylights and Octopussy. It was also the name listed for the Faberge egg in the auction in Octopussy film.
+Garrett Dark what was the storyline for property of a lady? I agree though, it's always a shame when a legal battle holds up any great franchise, by the sounds of it, if everything went according to plan after 1991 property of a lady, they would've had time for one last Timothy Dalton movie in 1993 before Brosnan came in. Although GoldenEye wouldn't have existed, or come after property of a lady anyway
Timothy Dalton did not do a third 007 because he knew that MGM was trying to get him fired as they blamed him form License to Kill bombing in the USoA. MGM and EON sued each other. He put his career on hold and that hurt him.
The greatest car chase scene in film history..by one of the most underrated Bond actor ever..We don't have Steve McQueen or any other, but this is much polished..
@tantive4 I fully agree. Dalton WAS the best Bond, dark and gritty. I really wish he could have done a couple more films. Dalton has always been underrated, though, in pretty much everything he's done.
@birddogdk Of course they exsist, they are a muzzle loaded grenade, there's an attachment that's fitted onto the end of the rifle and grenade is fixed into the barrel. They have been around since the early 1900's.
For a while I thought he was the weakest Bond, but seeing Dalton play other roles made me respect him as an actor all the more. I feel like people want actors to emulate Sean Connery and anything that doesn't fit into that mold is not appreciated.
I have that very same car and in black to, mines a '87. I think the one in the movie was an '86. I would love to recreate this scene with my V8 Vantage and Celine Dion plays my love interest.
FYI the roadblock was set up at the south end of the Festungsburg road tunnel, just south of Sachsenburg, Austria. The Google Map coordinates are 46.8212898,13.35386.
I love the look of determination on Dalton's face at 2:08 as he's preparing to drive into the ice fishing shack. "F*ck it. We're going through or crashing". LTK always used to be my favorite Bond film, with TLD 2nd favorite (And Dalton's my favorite Bond). But now, they alternate positions. Both are still my top two favorites of the franchise, no matter which one is at the top.
at 1:55 he tells her "see where this leads to", and at 2:02 she replies "this only leads to the lake". I never had a lady as a passenger who was able to read a map correctly within 7 seconds! :-))
if they (producers) were smarter, they would have made 3/4 of the newer Bond-movies just all highlights of the cool gadgets! I'm sure i'm not the only one that loved that stuff more than just about _anything_ else!!! 😎 😋
Rewatching this scene, I noticed a couple of things: - When Bond's car crashes into the wooden hut, there's no way that rickety piece of wood would have held him inside it! - If you compare how deep his tireless wheel is cutting at 2:50 to how thick the ice is at around 2:52, it looks a bit stupid. Even so, this is still one of my favourite Bond car chases, just cause I love the V8 Vantage.
Yep-- MG42; *STILL* used today in Germany today, only modernized and slightly modified, and then rebranded as the MG3--still doesn't explain why police/military in Czechoslovakia (which is where this happens, if I recall correctly) are using one, unless its a leftover from World War II that they seized and repurposed for their own use. Or, could be an actual MG3-- they started making them in 1960, 27 years before this (but still a *Western* machine gun, so the former's more likely-- old MG42).
A View to a Kill. Moore's last outing and the one before this one. Much criticised, but I like it very much. Hell, it introduced me to Christopher Walken.
The Living Daylights is one of my favorite Bond films.
"What happened?
- Salt corrosion."
Girl: What happeend?
Bond: Salt corrosion
Great stuff :P
Dalton is One of my favorite Bonds
To me, second only to Connery.
Love this Bond movie! One of the coolest bond cars. "Glad I insisted you brought this cello" My favourite line in the movie after he argued about taking it.
this car chase was so amazing and that music, OMG, that beat was so awesome

Dalton & Lazenby. The 2 most underrated Bonds. Fans of the books love these 2.
Vic

Exquisite Timothy Dalton ❤️ as Bond ❤️
Best looking Bond car of all time!!
Second best. The first will always be the DB5.
Max Robinson In your opinion, not mine! :) But yes the DB5 is a very good looking car - that cannot be denied.
+John Rooney (filmandtvgeek) I agree mate... The V8 is definitely my favourite... I'm not actually a fan of the DB5, find it quite boring?!?
DeadRepublicOfficial I don't find it "boring" so to speak, I just find it quite exaggerated.
+JohnRooney Gaming Honestly, based on looks I'd say the BMW Z3 or Z8 were the best looking, but they didn't have the prestige or the popularity of the Aston Martins. "Amazing this modern safety glas!"
That badass synthesizer bass allways gets me pumped.
After watching this movie for the second time, I loved it
Damn, that soundtrack is good.
I get goosebumps when that synthesizer bass starts.
Definitive Bond for me!!!!
My favourite Bond film, Bond Actor and Bond Girl. Fantastic 5*.
I've had a few optional extras installed
God that aston is just beautiful 😍
Amazing this modern safety glass
imagine a car in real life with gadgets like that

Well brosnan I think was a good replacement for the role Dalton did a good job I'm not saying that but the replacement was a good one
Great Bong Movie, thanks for the chase upload!
One of my all-time favorite Bond cars...such a shame it had to blow up.
Most underrated James Bond ever; my second favourite Bond film after Skyfall. That Aston Martin is my dream car
One of the best car scenes. thanks! =)
One of my favorite Bonds
One of the best Bond moments! Thanks for posting.
Surely it must be difficult to go under cover in communist Czechoslovakia while driving an Aston?!
Dalton was never my favorite actor to play Bond, but the action/chase scenes in his movies are easily the best.
You gotta love all Kara Milovy's expressions lol
Classic Cold War theme loving the Lada!!
Dalton as Bond was way ahead of its time,he perfected the darker Bond before Craig
Kara:What happened?
James: Corrosion! axaxxaxax later... amazing this smart safety glass! THE BEST MOVIE from the whole series!
I love that scene. One of the best bond cars ever.
Timothy Dalton had swagg.
The baffled Bond girl is always a good touch :P
Nice Bond car this one is my favourite.
I remember there used to be a Spanish soap opera called "Nina Bonita" that used some of this music over and over again LOL.
Girl:What happened?
Bond:Salt corrosion.
2:05 So this is how a Siege Ram in Aoe2 were made
This is what James Bond car chases is all about! A cool car with gadgets, and one liners!
Badass Aston Martin! 1986 V8 Vantage
a tear rolled down from my eye @ 4:00
my favorite bond movie and car
best Bond car chase ever!!!And second best Bond movie of all times!!
Kind of brings back memories, this. Never really was interested about the Volante, I was all about those VB 2101(6)s!
"Amazing this modern safety glass".
That should have been Q's line. Sounds like a hastily assembled script alright.
Excellent scene.
Dalton may not be the best bond, but this car chase scene is one of the best
Veřejná bezpečnost Lada 1500 ownage :D
'Looks like they just found us' haha :D
Great musics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i fall in love in that aston martin
(Smiles) Makes me heartbeat!
awesome...
TDALT my boy!!!
I want that Aston!!!
Timothy Dalton was so underrated as bond i think he was actually brilliant at bond
+CE11SCAN Second only to Connery himself...
BEST BOND CAR CHASE...EVER
So so under rated
Bond's Aston kind of reminds you a of 67 Shelby GT-500 crossed with a Rolls Royce. Bad ass car.
I miss these Bond movies of the cold war era. The plot seem lot more epic back than,
@codename617 Indeed. It was fortunate that Fleming was to encounter Boothroyd, as he introduced to the James Bond universe his trademark Walther PPK.
@birddogdk Of course they exsist, they are a muzzle loaded grenade, there's an attachment that's fitted onto the end of the rifle and grenade is fixed into the barrel. They have been around since the early 1900's.
@spectre0075 And yet, in a way, looks quite a bit like a fastback Mustang. I love this Aston. A classic.
Tim dalton so under-rated. Awesome bond, in my opinion the best. Love daniel craig took over the many
That was preposterous. Although the way he was moving in the car @3:45 made me lol.
For a while I thought he was the weakest Bond, but seeing Dalton play other roles made me respect him as an actor all the more. I feel like people want actors to emulate Sean Connery and anything that doesn't fit into that mold is not appreciated.
@csno1 Last score from the Great John Barry ! R.I.P.
I have that very same car and in black to, mines a '87. I think the one in the movie was an '86. I would love to recreate this scene with my V8 Vantage and Celine Dion plays my love interest.
corvetteguy1980 I'd rather have a Datsun 280 ZX , much cheaper than a V8 vantage and more money left over for more than a few optional extras !!!!!
An Aston Martin doesn't NEED to be invisible.
Best Bond car chase ever. :) Forget the stupid modern Bond, which has nothing to do with this.
I have a few optional extras installed
****SUPEEEER*****
This is the best chase in the entire series. Fuck, save for Bullitt, it's probably the best chase in any movie ever.
FYI the roadblock was set up at the south end of the Festungsburg road tunnel, just south of Sachsenburg, Austria. The Google Map coordinates are 46.8212898,13.35386.
My pleasure !
You sir, are right.
I love the look of determination on Dalton's face at 2:08 as he's preparing to drive into the ice fishing shack. "F*ck it. We're going through or crashing". Why couldn't you learn to play the violin?
+iJamieGamer 25 Glad I insisted you brought that cello!
at 1:55 he tells her "see where this leads to", and at 2:02 she replies "this only leads to the lake". I never had a lady as a passenger who was able to read a map correctly within 7 seconds! :-))

I want that Aston
I laugh at how the digital crosshairs have to line up, when all it can do is fire straight ahead anyway.
Bond, looking back at his past, has realised the most important thing of all: Q-Branch is the reason he's still alive.
intresting movie..
Rewatching this scene, I noticed a couple of things:
- When Bond's car crashes into the wooden hut, there's no way that rickety piece of wood would have held him inside it!

I know. Whenever it accelerates it sounds awesome.
2:38 It's a double blowout! I've never seen one of these before.
Thanks. Nice to also see some appreciation for my opinion too.
Its a MG3
I was just thinking that! Most obviously in the "police blockade" bit and the part where they have to take a side route through some trees.
The Die Another day car was cool but a bit gimmicky... Thanks for uploading this I'm using it for the James Bond Chapter of my Aston Martin project
cool
"Brace yourself, cos I'm gonna do some funky shit."
A View to a Kill. Moore's last outing and the one before this one. Much criticised, but I like it very much. Hell, it introduced me to Christopher Walken.
Grandissimo.attore.bel.film
All that firepower and it takes a snow bank to stop the car!
I think this scene inspired the Ice Chase level of 007 Nightfire game? Who agrees?
