Reminds me of my neighbor, I think both of us go to university. I dunno, a little while ago he gave me the finger because I don't have blinds on the room window I am renting, too lazy to put it up. He always has parties at his place. Don't really care. This might be war! lol. I can win on the courtroom front too, methinks.

Fairly unique Bond villain: whereas others have vast impressive lairs, he has this one large room to himself, but he has absolute control over all of it. And Bond is legitimately caught out of his element and at the mercy of an environment he did not anticipate. Shame it ends so quickly...

I think it's a shame that Brad didn't get more screentime. He should have played a role similiar to that of Midwinter in the Harry Palmer film Billion Dollar Brain.

True. He and later villain Fran Sanchez are the most realistic. They probably were based on actual people. I have no idea who Whitaker is based on but clearly Sanchez' character was inspired by Pablo Escobar. No wonder this movie and Licence to kill were the most realistic of the Bond films.

Thank you for uploading this scene. My favorite part in TLD. No CGI, no crash editing, no shaky cam, no over the top and unending explosion, no massive gun fights and over acted deaths. This scene shows Bond (together with his trustworthy Walther PPK) being a marksman (not a Jason Bourne/Matrix/Rambo/Terminator copycat) fights his way with pure class and sophistication. Such a classic scene that we will no longer see in the current Bond movies.

I would not have been surprised if a claymore was hidden under the entry door or if the US civil war gatling gun had live ammo for it. The way that old gatling gun worked was they loaded a drum and attached it to the top and let gravity feed the ammo. One soldier aimed it and the second soldier cranked the handle to fire it.

The Timothy Dalton movies do such a good job with their villains. They're real enough for us to easily understand their motives, but with just the right amount of convoluted scheming.
Living Daylights: Arms dealers playing the USA and USSR against each other to do some profiteering
License to Kill: Ruthless kingpin with unique methods of moving his product.

However I wish they extended a tad bit longer the getting into Whittaker’s house with the bond theme playing.

Watch the first three shots Bond fires, the first two hit Whitaker on on the chest/stomach, then the third on the arm. Bond then proceeds to continuously shoot the shield, presumably in hope to potentially break it.

Dalton is far greater than Craig. He portrayed Bond with charm, class and sophistication but with a sense of realism. A true seasoned actor who doesn't need a chiseled body and Hollywood publicity to live with the character. Craig is nothing but a copycat of Bourne. No originality. His movies are all boring with dull plotline and overdramatic tone. Even the music department (particularly by Thomas Newman) cannot live with the standards set by Barry. Such a pity. Bond movies are escapist movies made to thrill and captivate our imagination and not a burden for the viewers. That's what I feel after watching Craig's four Bond movies.

Henry Hammond it doesn’t a lot it happened with Walter Gotell who played the villain Morzey in From Russia With Love then went on to play KGB boss General Gogol in 4 of Roger Moore’s Bond films. Joe Don Baker of course as Whitaker in The Living Daylights went on to play the good guy CIA agent Jack Wade in GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies. Charles Gray played Henderson, Bonds contact and friend in You Only Live Twice and went on to play Bond villain Blofeld in Diamonds Are Forever. Maud Adams played Andrea Anders In The Man With The Golden Gun and later played Octopussy in the movie Octopussy. Other actors notably Richard Kiel as Jaws had recurring roles as same character.

@@scottknode898 Those are the big ones, but it also happened frequently with smaller roles. Actor Shane Rimmer played 3 characters (Radar operator in You Only Live Twice, Willard Whyte's assistant in Diamonds are Forever and Commander Carter in The Spy Who Loved Me.) Ed Bishop was a technician in YOLT and Klaus Hergersheimer in DAF. Burt Kwouk was Mr Ling in Goldfinger and Spectre 3 in YOLT. Anthony Chinn gets killed by Bond's cigarette gun in YOLT and 20 years later gets dropped off Zorin's blimp in A View to a Kill.
EDIT: Another big one: Anthony Dawson (Professor Dent in Dr No) was also Blofeld in From Russia with Love and Thunderball (although his face was hidden).

    Nothing unusual.
The actor playing General Gogol in 6 James Bond movies played a Spectre hitman in From Russia with love.
Charles Grey played Blofeld in Diamonds Are Forever, and he had played a British contactman in Japan in You Only Live Twice.
Maud Adams played a Bond lady in both The Man With the Golden Gun and Octopussy.

I can't really picture Van Cleef in the role of Brad Whitaker. Baker has more of a commanding presence and is a better fit for the role of an international arms-dealer who has delusions of grandeur and martial glory.

tpampouk Lee Van Cleef was more we’ll known in Westerns then in Action movies especially as the sadistic villain Angel Eyes in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. unfortunately Van Cleef passed away in 1989 at age 64 of a massive heart attack.

Whitaker was just a military-obsessed wannabe who thought he was a soldier. As Pushkin explained earlier in the movie, Whitaker was expelled out of West Point for cheating and subsequently became a mercenary. Brad Whitaker was delusional and only pretended he was the real deal. That would explain the incorrectly placed military pins

when whitaker said the thing about the body armor he meant that shield. according to what was supposed to happen, bond shot at the shield and deflected the bullet. But whatever was in that gun, it was fake (naturally), and Bond's bad aim made it go off target or something. Either way, the thing did hit his shoulder, but it was meant to hit the shield so the actors went with it... Unless he really WAS covered in bulletproof armor under his uniform. o_O whitaker is weird...

I love the 80's but sometimes when I go back on these old clips the other characters annoy me. I wish they would cut out the comm. Bond does with his allies, amd just show the scene where he approaches, enters, confronts the villian. All I want to hear is birds and crickets up to that point, lol. Oh yeah, and Whit's little battle scene, as Bond enters, lol
