When watching in there's I noticed how batman didn't even try to help that first victim in the train station. It kinda bugged me that that he didn't hold his hand out to help him up and reassure him.
But then by the end, in the final fight, he does! He realised that being out for vengeance isn't good when the terrorist says 'im vengence'. He chooses to be a beacon...literally with his flare... And holds his hand out to the help the people

'Fun fact' - the funeral scene was filmed at St George's Hall, Liverpool, where I got married - watching it at a cinema in the same city was oddly exciting.
Pleasantly surprised by this movie, proves Batman movies can still be fresh and unique.

Penguin's always been an odd bird. Not counting Danny DeVito's version, Penguin usually likes to portray himself as a classic gangster/mob boss.
He's still running things crime wise and doing illegal stuff sure, but he also has a sort of code of honor by which he does things. You can see it here when he and Batman first meet, the way he says "You're really all they say you are aren'tcha?" and offers what he does know. He knew Batman was coming to him for info, and he provided what he could. It shows that he's a big believer of "respect" and "honor" amongst the criminal underworld, and while "Mr. Vengeance" may be kicking the crap out of his guys, Penguin's still impressed with him and respects him to a degree.

I had absolutely no interest in anything story wise because Denis Villeneuve has no clue how to build character depth with any sort of development ... He's just another hollywood fluff director making 'sterile' boring movies pretending he's Stanley Kubrick. It looked nice ... but I walked away from it forgetting it the next day. This is such an underrated film. The whole singular idea, by Matt Reeves, that this is a man who is unhinged and unhealthily obsessed with fighting the criminal element at night who is constantly beating criminals to a pulp with his bare hands and with his unlimited amount of vast resources at his disposal. All he sees in the criminal element, in this corrupt town that his family helped to build and found dating back to the late 1800s, are the people who killed his parents as a young child making him an orphan.
So, he dons the mantle of that which he fears the most, in the form of the Batman, after training for the majority of his life to rid his city of the evil that took his parent's lives. He dosen't know who was responsible for killing Thomas and Martha Wayne so every criminal he sees, to him, is the criminal that killed his parents on that fateful night when he was only 10 years old. He is addicted to this mission, like a drug, so as both Bruce and Batman, he spends all of his time, trying to succeed in this impossible task he has set up for himself. That's why he never sees the light of day as Billionaire Bruce Wayne and is a social outcast and pariah. He is a man driven by vengeance; by revenge. By the end of this journey, as we see Bruce on a physical, mental, emotional and psychological level and transform from a young, naive, impatient man who makes mistakes still early in his career as a crime fighter we see him then become something else by the end...a symbol of hope, an ideal, a form of inspiration that makes criminals terrified to step out at night and commit their atrocities that makes Gotham City one of the worst places to call home. A city with a history and a foundation steeped in corruption and crime that ties back to the Wayne family and and their vast fortune. It also plants the seeds that will give him the inspiration to step out in the light of day to transform into the billionaire, playboy industrialist more interested in dating models and driving fast cars in order to hide in plain sight so no one would be able to distinguish Bruce Wayme is actually the Batman. A man consumed by vengeance who transforms into a symbol of hope. Obviously a film inspired by the comic book mythos and Arkham video game series and Batman animated series from the 1990s.
Ironically, a film consisting of character arc transformations and worldbuilding moments that is actually one of the most faithful Batman comic book movies to the original source material in the 1940s. Such as Detective comics issue 27 from 1937 and batman issue 1 in 1940 created by Bob kane, Bill finger and Jerry Robinson.
Then, the new 52 comics such as court of owls and Zero year by tomeu morey, john ottley, Jim lee, Scott Snyder. Batman year one by jim lee, David Mazuchelli and Frank miller as well as Batman: the long halloween and Batman: ego and other tales. This essay is lterally just scratching the surface of why it's actually one of the best batman films yet up their with the likes of the Dark knight from 2008.

Batman didn't run away from Colson exploding because when he's in costume he doesn't think of himself as a man but a symbol or ideal. All he cares about is ridding the city of the evil that made him an orphan and saving Gotham from the crime and corruption that is destroying his family's legacy. Gotham is his family's legacy.
He is willing to die for this cause and what he sees as his one man crusade against injustice on these mean streets of his turbulent home.
Just like I hear people saying, "Colson turned into a corrupt DA for only $10,000?" Well, no. They said in the film it was 10 Gs , "A MONTH. "
Ave maria and Something in the way were chosen because of the thematic elements and symbolism that those songs lyrically represent and the connection to the symbolism and themes of the film. Also, the connection it has to the character arcs in the movie.

We all know how superhero fans can be when they feel like their favorite character is misportrayed, especially when it has to do with storylines or moments that are Iconic to the character.
This movie comes out right off the bat (pun intended) with an angsty narration about the batsignal striking fear into the hearts of criminals, and then Batman says "I'm vengeance", moments that have become integral to the idea of Batman.

Even Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are only "good for live-action Batman" to me, but they're not fully Batman movies to me the same way this is. I'm seeing the commitment to understanding the character in this movie, that's been absent from every single live-action Batman movie before it.

Since it’s year 2 batman. Batman and everyone else are kind of just establishing themselves. Bruce Wayne is still figuring out what he stands for, he hasn’t developed the billionaire persona. The penguin hasn’t become a full ‘villain’ yet, and cat woman is in her early stages.

This is 2nd year Bruce Wayne being Batman very young .
Young Batman is very angry and acts like Batman even when he is Bruce Wayne not talk to much and serious , Bruce Wayne still don't go out in public .
But as he grew he would understand that if he don't go out , people would be suspicious that's why he started acting as Billionaire , playboy Bruce Wayne in comics .
this Batman is also very young that's why he is acting like Batman always, We would get to know Pattinson Bruce Wayne as Billionaire playboy in future movies , when he would understand that People can be suspicious about him of why he doesn't go out public and what he do with his money .

I think they might set up Two-Face and Bane for the sequel. Two-Face because of the fact that the DA was killed and Bane because I’m pretty sure Batman used Venom. They kinda also set up the Penguin for a bigger role, as well as a Riddler and Joker team up. I have doubts if they can pull off 5 villains but No Way Home did it and it’s a half hour shorter than this so maybe I’m wrong 🤣

Personally, if they go done the Harvey Dent path. I hope they take inspiration from the animated series, and have them being old friends. It would make the turn more personal, and guilt fuelled for Bruce.

I think you should watch all the other Batman films too, besides just this one and the Nolan trilogy, so you can get more of a sense of different aspects of Batman and his rogues gallery of villains. Each movie, I feel, focused on a different trait or aspect of Batman. For me, Ben Affleck is still my favorite Batman and his Batmobile my favorite. However, this comes a close 2nd now, even toppling Michael Keaton's Batman for me. I am excited for the sequel. The only thing, I think, that does not make this movie my favorite Batman movie to date is the length, the literal constant darkness that makes it a bit depressing to keep rewatching, and it is a bit slow at times that I think it probably could've been trimmed by about 10-15 minutes. But, I also loved the aesthetic and the camera shots and the focus on story and making it all look and feel so real.

Domi e one of the things I really love about this movie is and this is something that a lot of the movies have ignored obviously until now is that Batman isn't really any better then the criminals he fights, the closest thing we've gotten to this in the past is the animated movie Batman Mask of the Phantasm. But if you read stories like Batman Damned, Batman Year One, he really isn't any better then the criminals he fights there's a line of Dialogue in Batman: Hush where Poison Ivy has Superman under her control using planet spores infused with kryptonite. Batman and Catwoman have teamed up to stop him and Batman says to her deep down he's a good person and deep down I'm not because obviously deep down Superman wouldn't kill anybody Batman would

He's definitely not 'much younger' than Bale's Batman was. Bruce has his 30th birthday in Batman Begins, and Pattinson isn't playing a young kid. He's just rougher around the edges.
