They don't know if he's the good guy. But by the end, he realizes he has to be more than vengeance lurking in the shadows. He has to be the beacon in the night that they can follow.
That really is something a few people miss. The first guy we see him save from the gang is afraid of him despite being saved by him than at the end a women doesn't want to let him go even to be handed off to firemen and medics.
Yeah, at the start of the movie he's not so much about making sure the criminals face justice. He's just about beating them up. Much like in the graphic novel "The Long Halloween" this movie shows Batman's evolution from just being about vengeance and scaring criminals to starting down his path as a detective, where he becomes more directly involved with Gotham's police, helps processing evidence and such to make sure the criminals get put away and hopefully rehabilitated, rather than just hurting and maiming them.
Especially when he sees how the Riddler and his followers have twisted his purpose into something vile, and he realizes that by walking that path he had inspired something worse. Bruce realizes that the Batman persona has to inspire fear in those who would harm others and hope for those who would not. At the beginning, he says, "They think I am hiding in the shadows. I am the shadows." and then at the very end one of the most powerful shots of the whole film is him holding a flare, or "The Light", and the people streaming from the shadows to to join him in the light. On a sidebar, I think his journey in this film also shows Bruce that his persona as a Wayne cannot take a complete backseat to The Batman. His father tried his best to heal the city but was caught in the crossfire of corruption. Even if he manages to prove that Thomas didn't have that reporter murdered, his father's reputation has been severely damaged in Gotham. It will be up to Bruce to repair that, not The Batman. Bruce stepping forward to propose ideas for the restoration of Gotham would be the perfect foundation to bring in the Court of Owls.

This is my 2nd favourite Batman movie just behind Mask of the Phantasm. The City of Gotham looks amazing very Arkham Knight (Recommend the Arkham games if you're into gaming movie quality stories) the mix of old meets new Gotham has that 1930s gothic art deco feel but of course the modern tech you'd expected in the 2010s or 2020s with those massive Monitors on the side of buildings adding so much to the overall look of the city the modern version of classic 1930s billboards. I also love the classic 1950s style diner the movie just like Arkham Knight draws so much from every depiction of Gotham from the Neon Lights of Joel Schumacher Gotham to the more retro 1930s artistic from the Burton movies and of course the modern day artistic featured in the Nolan movies. Do wish we got a little bit more retro vibes maybe have some Blimps overhead along with some retro looking posters and adverts but nonetheless they did a great job with this rendition of Gotham City. Tim Burton still has my favourite Gotham artistic followed by the animated series and then Arkham Knight but this comes very close and is so much better than the last two Nolan movies Dark Knight and rises which lacked a unique and interesting artistic for it's Gotham. The music is also outstanding gave me massive Shirley Walker vibes who of coursed created the music for the amazing Batman Animated Series along with the Superman Animated Series. Shirley would be proud of the music in this film and that the composer Michael Giacchino has stated that he was inspired by her amazing music. I loved how this story is based in a much more realistic world. They are looking like and using things that actually exist. Also, Batman is supposedly the world’s greatest detective, that’s how he started, in a magazine called Detective Comics in 1939.
I loved the intro because it reminded me and my friends lining up in a movie theatre and going over everything we know what's coming up, based on the actors and directors.
I love seeing reactors collab together. I had no idea you were all close enough in distance that you could get together for a movie! This is awesome. I have been watching both of your channels since the beginning to this is just amazing! hahah
WHAT?!?! Love Cassie... and Brandon joins them in real life?!?! For the freaking Batman?!?! This just won UA-cam. I will be sure to watch this entire video, and then go to Brandon's channel and watch that one to give you both the views. Two of my favorite reactors!
What an amazing collaboration! Brandon is one of the most technically insightful reviewers out there and he’s fantastic to watch as well. Pair that with the genuine emotional perspective of the Popcorn in Bed crew…needless to say, I’d buy that for a dollar (Robocop quote). Thanks for doing this!
Watching this movie, it was the first time I actually felt people thinking of Batman as "terrifying" was completely justified! They captured his brand of psychological warfare very well!
Holy cow, what a crossover, I check out reactions from both your accounts. I'll catch up with this in a little bit, after I see the movie for myself. I hope you guys had a good time.
Yoooo, Brandon! Heck yeah! I'm assuming you guys got the cinema to yourselves. I'd be straight out to talk to the manager about the three people filming and talking during the movie. 😄
They did! Cassie has a few other in-theater reactions on her channel, they rent the entire theater and are either alone in it, or with just family and friends. (It's not that expensive to have a private viewing!)
Its so great to see Brandon joining Cassie and Carly for a reaction! And THE BATMAN...! You three together, are hilarious! So much fun! Carly: Who stole a pigeon?" Cassie: "No, stool-pigeon!" (Everybody chuckles, including me!) Great reaction ladies, and Brandon! I have to say, this might just be my new favorite Batman movie in the whole wild world! ( :E
15:31 Blasphemy! Jim Carrey was the only good thing about Batman Forever lol. Jim was silly and way over the top but he was hilarious like always. Carrey's Riddler has a small but special place in my heart! As a kid I watched that movie on VHS with my brother many many times. I did love this newest take of the Riddler. Paul Dano the actor did a great job. They took a silly character and made him scary and twisted! really enjoyed The Batman, and I'm excited to see where they go from here(sequels)
Agree with you here! The Riddler is, in essence, a very silly character, and Jim Carrey's take was a perfectly appropriate representation of that character. In that way he's a great contrast to the Joker. I enjoyed "The Batman"'s take on the Riddler -- if you have to have a "grounded" version of the Riddler, something like this would be the way to do it. But I don't need every Batman villain to be a "gritty" serial killer. It's nice to have a more light-hearted villain every once in a while. Now Two-Face, on the other hand, I really think he's best as a serious, tragic character, and Batman Forever really missed the mark with him, but TDK nailed it.
@@jlilley73 I agree, the Jim Carrey's Riddler was imho more fitting actually. I do not mind the more serious take in this, but those two are quite different characters.
This collaboration was perfection. More please! Like, please, please. I am an avid follower of both channels, so this was like Christmas and Halloween combined.
Not gonna lie, Cassie watching in the theater is way better than I though it would be initially. Loved all the previous theater trips she’s posted. Big fan of Brandon, too, so super pumped for this!
Loved this collab. Also enjoyed seeing a take on early Batman that isn’t so tech-ed out and more DIY detective. Also enjoyed seeing him more as a recluse as Bruce as he’s so early in his career as Batman and has that tunnel vision and does not yet understand the need to keep up appearances which Alfred touched on.
I haven't seen the movie yet, so I'll watch the video at a later date, but I just wanted to say how good it is to see a team up between two of my favourite reaction channels!
I love the moment Batman and the mayor's son make eye contact, it's because Bruce knows exactly what this kid's going through and it brought him flashbacks
'Fun fact' - the funeral scene was filmed at St George's Hall, Liverpool, where I got married - watching it at a cinema in the same city was partly filmed in was oddly exciting. Pleasantly surprised by this movie, proves Batman movies can still be fresh and unique after several iterations. (And the clock tower he jumps off of is the Liver Building, next to where I used to work - part-Scouse Batman film, so maybe I'm biased).
@NolanEP that's what happens when you give so-called reactors power all the Sudden they are a crew, if they get together like they collaborating on anything or create anything instead of what they really do which is create nothing a rip-off people's art to attempt to make money for themselves

Excuuuuse me WHAT? a collab with freakin Brandon?? for this particular piece of film? My day just got blessed. You got my favorite reaction youtuber onboard for my favorite cinema experience of the last few years. awesome.
I genuinely hate the way people keep calling him "emo". It's the eye makeup for his mask - every actor who plays him wears it but we never see it without the mask. And yes he isn't very happy but Bruce isn't supposed to be happy. A happy and sane person wouldnt do this every night
People that call him emo have no real understanding of Batman. Batman is literally a creation of a small boys trauma. It could be argued that Bruce died with his parents in that alley and the man is just a mask for embodiment of his trauma in the form of Batman. And as for the eye makeup, Keaton showed that the mask looks odd without it cause at one point he's wearing eye makeup, tears off his mask like it was a fruit roll up and suddenly no eye makeup. Once you notice that it's hard to ignore it.
You and Carly definitely need to watch The Lighthouse. It has Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe and they're both excellent in it. Just a heads up, its an artistic movie so its gonna be weird and open to interpretations.
I love how Cassie and Carly are totally horrified with the first scene and Brandon's just like "yeah cool this is awesome." 😂

@jp3813 I wonder what theater are they using and also how are they not disturbing other patrons unless they bought the entire house?
That music when Batman is walking to the penguins car is almost Darth Vador music. 😆
The twist ending will be that Brandon is Mr PopcornInBed.
Lmaooooooo
he wishes, bro ;)
@@matthewmills6029 lmao
Fun Fact: Commissioner Savage (second victim) is played by Alex Ferns, who you may remember as the lead miner from Chernobyl ("...What? We're still wearin' the f**kin' hats!")
4:34 This is why i like this collab! Because you have different perspectives! So interested to see what you think about this movie at the end.
Exactly some people hating on Brandon being too analytical in the comments can't appreciate different perspectives.
Annika gets kidnapped..
Brandon: *"At least non of the cats were hurt."*
If The Joker was a film about a broken man becoming Irredeemable, than The Batman is a film about a damaged man becoming a Force for Good!
Nice parallel. Never thought of it that way.
@@fynnthefox9078 Thanks
"It's as if Jigsaw was a Batman villain."
🤣🤣
They've clearly never seen Saw.
Can you fly, Bobby??
@@jeffreyjeziorski1480Clarence Boddicker, is that you?😂 Robocop: “He’s a cop killer”
@brianhatcher2799 You have 20 seconds to comply.
Wow this is literally the collab I didn't know I needed and didn't know I always wanted!! You guys are two of my faves!
Watching this movie, it was the first time I actually felt people thinking of Batman as "terrifying" was completely justified! They captured his brand of psychological warfare very well!
13:45 "At least none of the CATS are hurt. " 😂😂😂😂 ...uhhhh, WHAT!?
Holy cow, this is such an awesome collab!
Wow what a combo! Follow both your channels!
My two favourite reaction channels doing a colab, on one of my favourite movies? Now THIS is a treat.
A colab??? Lol you have to create something first you tool
Wow !! 2 of my fav channel reunited here !!! What a treat !! Love u guys !
The Dark Knight trilogy is amazing. The new Batman is amazing too!
WHAT IS THIS COLLAB??? I’ve been watching Brandon since he first started, and more recently since you first started. Mind blown
Might be the best reaction collab of all time
I like how people who waited till HBO Max release regretted not seeing it in theaters and admitting they were wrong about the Batman.
Popcorn with Brandon!!! Yet you kidding me!!!
your reaction at 27:02 hearing the cry of the Batmobile...pure, awesomeness.
Holy cow, what a crossover, I check out reactions from both your accounts. I'll catch up with this in a little bit, after I see the movie for myself. I hope you guys had a good time.
Honestly as much as I don't care about The Batman, this collaboration of channels is the content I'm looking for.
Is that Brandon from THE Brandon loves movies channel!?
"Is he the butler in Mr Deeds" is the best way to recognize John Turturro that I've ever heard :)
*Annika gets kidnapped*
Brandon: “At least none of the cats are hurt.”
😭😭😭😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Its so great to see Brandon joining Cassie and Carly for a reaction! And THE BATMAN...! You three together, are hilarious! So much fun! Carly: Who stole a pigeon?" Cassie: "No, stool-pigeon!" (Everybody chuckles, including me!) Great reaction ladies, and Brandon! I have to say, this might just be my new favorite Batman movie in the whole wild world! ( :E
I absolutely LOVE this collab!! Two of my favorite channels!! :) Thank you so much!
No way my guy Brandon? Sick collab!
I could not believe my eyes when I saw Brandon in the thumbnail. Blessed collab
This is like ‘The Avengers’ of reaction videos. A great team up
The girls : **horrified**
Brandon : "Damn, what a shot!"
Oddly enough, this is legitimately a crossover that I’ve been wanting for awhile. Good people.
This was awesome!!! Brandon is so impressive with his outlook on movies on his channel. I hope there are more collaborations in the future.
You would absolutely LOVE The Red Violin.
Brandon is my favorite dude for movies.....cool
This collaboration was perfection. More please! Like, please, please. I am an avid follower of both channels, so this was like Christmas and Halloween combined.
Not gonna lie, Cassie watching in the theater is way better than I though it would be initially. Loved all the previous theater trips she’s posted.
Big fan of Brandon, too, so super pumped for this!
I was so shocked to see Brandon pop up on this channel. Awesome collab!
😂I already pictured Brandon's face lighting up when y'all hear the ROAR of the batmobile
The two most wholesome reactors on UA-cam teaming up! Unbelievable! Love both your channels.
What a crossover!
The unexpected collab is amazing
I LOVE THE IDEA OF DOING MOVIE REACTIONS IN RENTED THEATERS, I ASSUME THATS WHAT YALL DID, W IDEA N EXECUTION
I love the moment Batman and the mayor's son make eye contact, it's because Bruce knows exactly what this kid's going through and it brought him flashbacks
This is going be the best cross over ever. Love you both.
This is the most wholesome collab ever i love it
I'm half way through this, but can't stop laughing.... Carly: Who stole a pidgeon? 🤣
Lol! I laughed out loud when she said that!! Hilarious 😂
This is going to be an EPIC collaboration! 😊
So EPIC!!!! damn, the world didn't end and it was annoying
@NolanEP that's what happens when you give so-called reactors power all the Sudden they are a crew, if they get together like they collaborating on anything or create anything instead of what they really do which is create nothing a rip-off people's art to attempt to make money for themselves
@@johnfive2440 but yet here you are. If you don't like it then why are you watching lol...UA-cam gives you the power to leave your dumb unwanted opinion so I guess it's even 😂
I LOVE the collab!!! I already subscribe to both of you so was so excited. What a great way to do it with you splitting it across the channels. And soooo cool in the theater! Thank you so much for doing this, would love to see another one.
Excuuuuse me WHAT? a collab with freakin Brandon?? for this particular piece of film? My day just got blessed. You got my favorite reaction youtuber onboard for my favorite cinema experience of the last few years. awesome.
Sameeeeee. Fav cinema experience ever for me, and my fav react channels. We lucky bro
@@thesenate9455 A suprise to be sure. but a welcome one!
This is the most ambitious crossover event of the century
Brandon is the best. He knows so much about movies. I love him.
This is an awesome collab, 3 of my favorite reactors.
"OK, so this Batman can't fly." Batman has NEVER been able to fly.
Yea
He can with his cape 😂
They probably had no idea that Colin Farrell played Penguin. He's absolutely unrecognizable.
Yes he looks like an old man
I genuinely hate the way people keep calling him "emo".
@@jessecortez9449 It's not that serious Relax.
Sounds pretty emo to me…
Still Bruce Wayne is a persona
Woah!!! This is fantastic. Y’all are like the most wholesome bunch. I found you through him, so this was particularly enjoyable.
You and Carly definitely need to watch The Lighthouse. It has Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe and they're both excellent in it. Just a heads up, its an artistic movie so its gonna be weird and open to interpretations.
“Who stole a pigeon?” 😂😂
